CSS - Page Color Not The Same In Firefox As Ie
I am using dreamweaver cs5 and when I test my page in firefox, it is the color that I chose ( a pink color), but when i test it in internet explorer, it is black (this is the background color). Does anyone know why this is happening and how to correct it?
Also, I made my page with tables and centered the table with no margins. well the page has a huge margin gap at the bottom in google browser, but it is fine in IE and firefox. any suggestions? Thanks. Similar TutorialsHello all, When viewing in IE my background is dark red like it's suppose to be. When viewing the same site in Firefox the background is white. Firefox is not seeing that portion of code within my CSS file. Can someone shine some light for me? Thanks in advance!! Please help I need Please send me a message for URL. For some odd reason Dev won't allow me to post a link to my site for you. I have the following code, in the sidebar DIV in Firefox the background does not show up, it does in IE7. What have I done wrong? CSS code: Code: #content { margin-left: 25px; background: #fff; width: 990px; padding: 15px 20px 20px 20px; } #blog { padding: 0; margin-right: 40px; background: #fff; width: 660px; color: #545454; float: left; padding-top: 5px !important; } #sidebar { width: 250px; padding: 8px; background: #ccc; } XHTML/HTML code: Code: <div id="content"> <div id="blog"> blah blah blah </div> <div id="sidebar"> <h2>blah</h2> blah blah blah </div> </div> I've been looking it at for a while, and while it's probably something minor I'm just simple over looking, I can't figure it out. Everything works, is in the correct place, except the grey background (#ccc) isn't showing up on the sidebar. The problem: a link appears in the color i have set in IE, but in other (probably the default one) color in FireFox the explanation of the situation: attachment 1 that's how it looks in FireFox attachment 2 that's how it looks in IE, and the way it should look! cause that's the color i have set in the css file here is the code from the css file Code: A { color: #D9E0EF; text-decoration: underline; } A:HOVER { color: #D9E0EF; text-decoration: none; } here is the code around the link from the screenshots Code: <p align="center"><b><font size="7"><a href="index.php?p=join/index">JOIN</a></font></b></p> where may be the problem which doesn't allow to FireFox to see that there is set color for the links? Hello there. I tried to display the background color in my navigation, but it wan't work. Works fine in safari. Doesn't work in firefox or IE Can anyone help? .navbar { width: 960px; line-height: 30px; background-color: silver; z-index:100; display: block; clear: both; } .navbar ul { font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 14px; margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style: none; z-index:100; } .navbar ul li { display: block; position: relative; float: left; width: 120px; font-weight: bolder; z-index:100; } .navbar li ul { display: none; line-height: 20px; z-index:100; } .navbar ul li a { display: block; text-decoration: none; color: #48fc30; padding: 4px 15px 4px 15px; background: #silver; margin-left: 1px; } .navbar ul li a signup { background: #black; } .navbar ul li a:hover { background: #grey; } .navbar li:hover ul { display: block; position: absolute; } .navbar li:hover li { float: none; font-size: 11px; } .navbar li:hover a { background: #red; } .navbar li:hover li a:hover { background: #blue; } After years of developing, I finally decided to ditch the tables and use CSS properly for formatting. Things are going well, but I've run into a few odd problems. One is this one - I've chomped the page right down to illustrate the problem. In IE, the page renders as I'd hope, a bg color showing right across the page, with the left & right cols within that. In Firefox, the bg color renders, but STOPS where the left & right cols display. Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Hmmm...</title> <style type="text/css"> <!-- body { background-color: #403E3E; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; } #pagebodywrapping { background-color: #A3AAAF; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: 100%; } #pagebody { margin: 0px auto; padding: 0px; width: 750px; } #pagebody .leftcol { margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; width: 499px; border-right: 1px solid #fff; background-color: #FFF; float:left } #pagebody .rightcol { margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; width: 250px; background-color: #5D757E; float:left; } --> </style> </head> <body> <div id="pagebodywrapping"><br> <div id="pagebody"><br> <div class="leftcol"><br></div> <div class="rightcol"><br></div> </div> </div> </body> </html> I'm sure it's something very simple, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out. I've searched around to no avail either. ANY help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Im setting the background color of a division to #FFFFFF which in IE is perfectly white as you would expect. However in firefox it is coming out as a really faint green colour. I am using css to set the background properties of the body tag. Works just fine in IE but no background at all shows up in Firefox. css code for the body tag is: body { background-color: #0d005e; background-image: url('images/bgmain.jpg'); background-repeat: repeat-x; } Any thoughts? I have just started writing a page and the first thing I did was establish a body background color and image. It works in IE but not FF. Can someone please give me a clue what is wrong. I have searched all the CSS books and the internet but I cannot find an answer. Thanks in advance. The URL is http://www.childrens-stories.me.uk/ Firefox ignores the white background in the "main" <div> in the following, but IE, Opera and Safari/Win all display the white background. Is this a firefox bug, or am I missing something here? Note: The z-indexes are for when the "main" div is scrolled... Also note: I am making the <body> tag relatively positioned because otherwise, Firefox (apparently) treats the viewport as the parent to the absolute-positioned element. In that case, it renders the white background until the bottom of the window, but reverts back to black "below the fold" because bottom: 0 is interpreted as the bottom of the window. Code: <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> body {background: black; color: silver; position: relative} div#header {position: fixed; top: 0; left: 20%; height: 80px; z-index: 2; right: 0; background: gray; margin-bottom: 2px; color: yellow} div#sidebar {position: fixed; top: 0; bottom: 0; left: 0; right: 80%; background: silver; margin-right: 2px; color: maroon} div#main {position: absolute; top: 80px; left: 20%; right: 0; bottom: 0; background: white; color: red; z-index: 1} </style> </head> <body> <div id="header"> <h1>header</h1> </div> <div id="sidebar"> sidebar <ul> <li>one</li> <li>two</li> <li>three</li> <li>four</li> </ul> </div> <div id="main"> <p> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. I want to know if it's possible to choose one color on a page and change it to another. This is the page I want to change: http://www.neopets.com/randomfriend.phtml?user=bubbapyque The menu on the left is uneditable by me because it's on Neopet's server. But I'd like to change the yellow color of the menu to something else. Possible? Thanks. Crystal www.devwebsites.com There is a little strip of lightened color on that part and I don't think its from the images at least..I can't for the life of me figure out what is causing it. Thanks Hello, I have a menu of <a> tags and when the user is on the page that the <a> tag goes to how do I keep it a different color than the rest of the <a> tags on that page? I tried a.active and it does not work. Also this page is dynamic so the nav menu is repeated often and is one block of code. Setting a different class according to each page is not an option. Thanks for the help. Hi there, I have two problems with the display of my website in different browsers. The first is when you view my site, http://www.tophatweddings.co.uk in FireFox. In IE 6 the white background extends to the foot of the content. However in Firefox you'll notice it doesn't and the left, central and right columns all finish at different levels. How can I get the white background to behave in the same way as IE? My second issue is with IE7. Now, some people might actually download and install this "browser" - those poor people. Anyway in IE 7 you'll notice the footer just decides to display halfway through the page because I guess some CSS has changed in this version of IE. Does anyone know what this could be? Help with either of these issues would be greatly appreciated and reputation points award to those who post helpful answers. Thanks - hey, i have a question regarding css on my website: http://poolghost.com/ my css file is located at http://poolghost.com/base.css basically what i am trying to accomplish is having a:hover's color change to a different color on the right side of the layout. and i would like links on the right side to be underlined. please advise.. thanks, --avery Hey, I use div's to create my page structure (you can see it on the screenshot) http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/...tructurege3.jpg The green part is the navigation and the blue part the contents of the page. But as you see the colors both dont fill up till the bottom of the document. And if i set: height: 100%; then it will fill up to the bottom, but when the contents gets to big and a scrollbar is needed, then the part that you scroll down is not filled up with the colors anymore. Does anybody know how to fix this? Thanks in advance. Hi All, I'm new to the forum. My website's Index page is losing all my body font and color settings, though layout is correct. All of the subfolders' index pages and other pages throughout my website remain unaffected. I've sanity checked it all, and it validates OK. I have an email in to the webhost for some input, but I hoped to get some advice from other CSS-ers who might be in the know. My website is: NickiGreenwood.com I am a romance author and sideline-web-design-junkie. Any help, advice, or even a point in the right direction would be a huge, huge help. Thanks, all. Nicki Greenwood - Romance Author Hi. I've a div container with a gray bg color then inside I've two DIV (left & right). It works on IE but on firefox the bg color the the two DIV is white and if I add bg color=GRAY for the 2 DIV the middle is white. And I don't want to put bg color on the class = left and right because if I want to reuse these with other stuff then the color won't match to other things. How can I fix this problem? Please take a look at the following link with IE & firefox and u know what I mean. Please take a look at source code or in here.
