CSS - Background(css/property) Does Not Display My Css Buttons/images
Hey,
I have a feeling that this will not be difficult to solve, but I've come to the point where I don't really know what to do any more. They say two heads are better than one; that's why working in a team is so great, because there are people from different walks of life. So, any help you can provide me from your experiences would be great! I have five buttons that do not show up on firefox, and the images are called into play through CSS using background. You will find the code below: This is the CSS: Code: .borderBelowNav { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 80px; width: 937px; height: 141px; z-index: 2; } img.borderBelowNav { display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } .divNav { position: absolute; top: 55px; left: 175px; width: 785px; height: 61px; z-index: 3; } ul#mainNav, ul#mainNav li { margin: 0; padding: 0; } ul#mainNav li { display: inline; } ul#mainNav li a { width: 138px; height: 69px; } ul#mainNav li#quienesSomos a { width: 138px; background: url(../images/quienesSection.gif) no-repeat 0 0; top: 0; left: 0; } ul#mainNav li#quienesSomos a:hover { background-position: 0 -72.9px; top: 0; left: 0; } ul#mainNav li#campamentos a { width: 138px; background: url(../images/campamentosSection.gif) no-repeat 12px 0; top: 0; left: 0; } ul#mainNav li#campamentos a:hover { background-position: 12px -71.2px; top: 0; left: 0; } ul#mainNav li#noticias a { width: 150px; background: url(../images/noticiasSection.gif) no-repeat 14px 0; top: 0; left: 0; } ul#mainNav li#noticias a:hover { background-position: 14px -72.5px; top: 0; left: 0; } ul#mainNav li#aplicacion a { width: 150px; background: url(../images/aplicacionSection.gif) no-repeat 0px 0; top: 0; left: 0; } ul#mainNav li#aplicacion a:hover { background-position: 0px -76.1px; top: 0; left: 0; } ul#mainNav li#contactos a { width: 150px; background: url(../images/contactosSection.gif) no-repeat 0px 0; top: 0; left: 0; } ul#mainNav li#contactos a:hover { background-position: 0px -72.2px; top: 0; left: 0; } This is the HTML: Code: <img class="background" src="images/treesInFog.jpg" alt="" /> <img class="innerBackground" src="images/bgroundmain02.jpg" alt="" /> <!--This div is for the black border behind the nav--> <div class="borderBelowNav"> <img class="borderBelowNav" src="images/borderBelowNav.jpg" alt="" /> </div> <div class="divNav"> <ul id="mainNav"> <li id="quienesSomos"><a href="quienesSomos.php" title="Quienes Somos"> </a></li> <li id="campamentos"><a href="campamentos.php" title="Campamentos"> </a></li> <li id="noticias"><a href="#" title="Noticias"> </a></li> <li id="aplicacion"><a href="aplicacion.php" title="Aplicacion"> </a></li> <li id="contactos"><a href="#" title="Contactos"> </a></li> </ul> </div> Similar TutorialsI'm trying to create some links that swap background images when you mouseover them. The non-CSS solution (which looks exactly how I want it to look) is located he http://84.9.221.75/domains/backingt...Musicindex.html My attempt at creating a CSS equivalent of those links is located on this page: http://84.9.221.75/domains/backingt...Musicindex.html I just need some help with the CSS I'm using on the latter page...I read up a little on how to do this, but it's obvious I'm still doing something wrong... I need the buttons and the text inside the buttons to line up and appear like they do in the first URL....can anyone give me some pointers here? Thank you. www.clydesdaleframes.com/test/fortran.html Does anyone know why my "next page" button's background is extending the full width of the text like that? css is www.clydesdaleframes.com/test/styles.css thanks in advance, Chris Hello, I'm trying to make "tool-tip text" that I can position and style when a user rolls over a link. I have an id called menuTipsAppointments that I want to keep hidden until the user rolls over my Appointments anchor. I'm starting with: Code: #menuTipsAppointments { display: none; } Then I do this: Code: a#appointments:hover { display:block; width: 30px; height: 61px; background-image: url(images/pin-over.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: top left; #menuTipsAppointments display: block; } The extra bits in this block (above the menuTipsAppointments id) are related to the link's FIR. If my syntax is okay, I'm guessing that I can't do this with :hover, and am hoping for another way to go about it. This is my first site and is already quite messy, so whatever works is cool. Many thanks! I'm trying to get my show/hide script working in Opera 6 and having no luck. So I know I can set CSS properties with JavaScript in Opera 6 (I'm testing on Mac) as I've managed to make it work with the visibility property. However doing: Code: document.getElementById(el).style.display = 'block'; does nothing... if I do an alert on the display setting of the element it always says undefined. I've also tried doing a className switch, but doing this : Code: <div id="el" class="hidden">...</div> alert(document.getElementById(el).className); Also gives me a 'undefined' message. Opera 6 is the only thing that's playing up on me at the moment so any help would be greatly appreciated. -D hello all, I am not very well experienced with CSS, so, please, bear with me. this question may sound stupid. I have a web page that is comprised of one main table. Except for the banner on top (1 column), the main row has two columns. These columns will comprise of: 1) left column: Menu 2) right column: page content. In the left column, the menu, I would like to have a background image sitting behind the menu. I have attempted to use CSS to put an image behind the menu: Code: .menu_back {background: url('Pics/Web/menu_background.jpg') no-repeat #ffffff;} And my html looks like this: Code: <table width = "100%" class = "menu_back"> This does not work. After scouring the web without any real success , I humbly ask for ur help. I am designing for Firefox hoping it will work fine under IE. Thanking u in advance. Im writing a combination navigation bar and contextual layout box model for a large dynamically generated site. The contextual layout is so that i can set a variable in the appropriate markup and then have the correct collumns display. I have two problems. #1. When I mouse over the menus and try to go down my menus they dissapear. If I take out the layout styling they work properly in both IE and Firefox. #2. Netscape 7 please This is the site http://www.hardingscatering.co.uk/06/index.htm I have put an overflow property on the container div, so FF can show white as the bground colour. But when viewed in Netscape the content is not there and on other pages a scroll bar appears. I always have trouble with this, and would really like to know what I am doing wrong. Thanks for any help. Hello all Anyone can pls help me with horizontal gradient fill using only the background-color property in css? Attached is the color I need to get, here it is an image, but I want to do this without using the url tag in css, whereby if possible I enter the color directly to the css code and get something like the image attached... Hi there, Can someone help me make a menu Im working on. The menu is make up of a few cells in a table, each cell has a Background image and an image which I would like to haved change when the mouse is over that cell in the table. How is this done? Owen, The layout I have going is a bit difficult to explain. Here's a diagram.. The area of importance is the header. The content and main head area are centered. The area to the left and right of the header are a <div>. However, as you can see, the background image on the left is different than the one on the right. I'm having difficulty making this work. the images can be stretched horizontally without a problem, but the two sides must meet in the middle beneath the header. I hope this makes sense. What I've got to do, I think, is tell the background image of the underlying <div> to stretch to 100%, and make this image 300px wide or so including both sides of the image and a split. The split would hide behind the header. I can't find a method to stretch the background image, though. Does anybody know of a better way, or a way to achieve this method at all without getting into completely different layouts? Thanks in advance for any assistance/suggestions. I have several <a>'s on my page, where their display is set to block, and I want to put a submit button in each of them. When I put the <button> in the <a></a>, though, the submit button doesn't go to the processing page, it just goes where the <a> was headed. How to I get the submit button to go to the processing page and not where the <a> was headed? I could put the submit button below the <a> block, but that's very unattractive, and I want the user to be able to click anywhere in the block to go to the next page (except for where the submit button is.) Any help much appreciated! Hello, I have been reading through this message board for a few days now and have found great information that has helped me more than you could realize. I am here with my own problem now though and hoping somebody will be able to help me. When I took on this project I never would have imagined I would be spending this much time on trying to get radio buttons in a form to display correctly. The client wants four buttons listed horizontal, but for the life of me I can not get it to work. I have tried putting them in an unordered list, separate floating divs but nothing has worked. If anyone is able to point me in the right direction on how to get the radio buttons to list horizontal in css I would really appreciate it. The site I am working on has approximately ten different forms that all need the buttons listed this way. Thank You in advance for any help..I look forward to spending time on this site in the future. Adam Hey there so im brand new here but ive been really frustrated with this problem im having today, it seems that google chrome is cutting of the background hovering image I am using for my navigation, here is a live link of the error. It seems to work fine for me in firefox. I am at a complete loss, any help would be greatly appreciated! I added a bright green background so that it is easier to see the error, it seems there is this mystery space below the text that should be padded 6pixels to show the view of the background hover image and its just not working . Thanks, Eric hxxp://69.65.41.169/~ehowardd/navigationerror/test.html Ment to add here is the CSS Code: Code: #navigation { width:500px; float:right; padding: 40px 0 10px 0; background: #0f0; } #home { padding-top:6px; padding-bottom:6px; display: inline; text-decoration:none; font-family: Arial; font-weight:bold; font-size:12px; color:#FFFFFF; } #home:hover { background: url("images/button.png") no-repeat 0 0; } #home span { margin-left:26px; margin-right:26px; } #aboutus { padding-top:6px; padding-bottom:6px; display: inline; text-decoration:none; font-family: Arial; font-weight:bold; font-size:12px; color:#FFFFFF; } #aboutus:hover { background: url("images/button.png") no-repeat 0 0; } #aboutus span { margin-left:17px; margin-right:17px; } #services { padding-top:6px; padding-bottom:6px; display: inline; text-decoration:none; font-family: Arial; font-weight:bold; font-size:12px; color:#FFFFFF; } #services:hover { background: url("images/button.png") no-repeat 0 0; } #services span { margin-left:17px; margin-right:17px; } #portfolio { padding-top:6px; padding-bottom:6px; display: inline; text-decoration:none; font-family: Arial; font-weight:bold; font-size:12px; color:#FFFFFF; } #portfolio:hover { background: url("images/button.png") no-repeat 0 0; } #portfolio span { margin-left:19px; margin-right:19px; } I use css to code my web layout and I also can view all images on Dreamweaver. However, when I view my web layout on Browsers( Firefox, IE), nothing appears. My code for HTML is: Code: <html> <head> <title>Hung</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/template/style.css"> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <div id="header"></div> <div id="menu"></div> <div id="whitebody"> </div> <div id="footer"></div> </div> </body> </html> And MY CSS CODE is: Code: body{ color:#FFF; margin: 0px; padding:0px; } #container{ background-position:center; } #header{ background:url(/template/images/header.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; width: 800px; height: 80px; } #menu{ background-image:url(/template/images/menu.gif); background-repeat:no-repeat; width: 800px; height: 55px; } #whitebody{ background-image:url(/template/images/backgroundbdoy.gif); background-repeat:no-repeat; width: 800px; height: 441px; } #footer{ background-image:url(/template/images/footer.gif); background-repeat:no-repeat; width: 800px; height: 24px; } If the paths of images are wrong, I can not view on Dreamweaver but I can. What wrong have I done ? please let me know and possibly give me a solution as you can. Thank you very much. Hi Folks, I've designed an H1 page heading within a DIV with rounded ends. and HTML text inbetween. It should appear as a horizontally expanding and contracting capsule. I can make one end rounded with a CSS background image in the DIV or the H1 - but how can I do the other? No tables allowed here and it has to be done only in the stylesheet. I've tried a BG in the DIV and a BG in the H1 but they don't line-up, even when there's no padding or margins. Is it possible to somehow attach an image to one side of an element? Thanks John Hello, I'm new to Dev Shed, I hope I won't seem like a fool here Is there any way to have to background images? I mean, I want to have a heading background image, and a footer background image to the same table. longing to your replies>>>> Is there some way to rig CSS to display 2 separate background images. I wanted to put the 2 images on opposite sides. I tried, but both IE 6 and Firefox 1.0.2 displayed only 1 bg image. Anyone got a suggestion? Edit - Oh yeah...this is for the BODY tag. I thought I ought to mention that. K. I have my content bg which is to repeat, but I want to put like another background image set to the right in the content box. Now the other image I just want set to the background also so text can over lap or other images. It's a really nice opacity image that blends in perfect. I just want it in background also positioned to the right. thanks Matta |
