CSS - Need Help Making A 3 Column Footer For My Site
I would love for it to look like the footer on the mint.com site.
Do you know how to accomplish this? Similar Tutorialshi all, right have got a problem which has been bugging me for days now. i have 4 columns in a row (inside a wapper div)which all will have different content image, text other divs/classes etc. now one of these columns will be quite fluid as it will have different text on each page meaning it will be quite long on some pages not on others. the problem i am getting is in the good browsers firefox etc its ok in IE6+. the wapper does'nt seem to see the divs in the content meaning it does not get filled, meaning that the footer flys to the top and not where it should be, i dont have a live version but heres the code: mainly thanks Dan <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> <!-- #con { width:940px; height:400px; background-color:#00FFFF; } #wapper { width:940px; background-color:#006666; } #box { width:940px; background-color:#000033; height:40px; } #menu-pronuptia { width:185px; background-color:#6633CC; float:left; display:inline; } #menu-pronuptia1 { width:185px; background-color:#009900; display:inline; float:left; } #menu-pronuptia2 { width:385px; background-color:#0033CC; display:inline; float:left; clear:inherit; } #menu-pronuptia3 { width:185px; background-color:#CCCC33; display:inline; float:left; } --> </style> </head> <body> <div id="wapper"> <div id="menu-pronuptia"> <p>test</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> </div> <div id="menu-pronuptia1"> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> </div> <div id="menu-pronuptia2"> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> </div> <div id="menu-pronuptia3"> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> </div> </div> <div id="box"> <p><br /> </div> </body> </html> Hi ppl, I am new to CSS, and I need help... I have this code in my word-press footer.php ,what I want is to turn image that i put as footer image(footer.jpg),into image-link to other page, I tried something like this but dont work... Code: div id="footer" onclick="SOME PAGE'> <a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>"> <img src="images/footer.jpg" alt="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>" /> ...but something i do wrong, below is a original code that i want to edit! When I resize my window or I use a smaller resolution, my footer bleeds out into the third column. It doesn't do this with the header, navbar, or text box and I don't understand why. Any help? I seem to be having a bit of a problem with a layout I am attempting...here is the problem... First of all, this is a 4 column layout with an absolutely positioned header. The 4 columns use floats for positioning as I am trying to keep a natural code flow. The 4 columns are intended to expand and contract with the page's width, and the heights should be 100%. The content of the page flows below the fold of the page on nearly every page. My problem is with the 100% height. In Firefox the footer that I am using to clear the floats is not clearing them, but rather resting below the floats. Does anyone have a good reference for using floats with 100% height that flow below the fold of the page? If someone wants to take a look at an example, you should message me as I can't post the development site publicly. I'm having two issues with IE on my site. 1. IE is displaying the body background image (bg.jpg) throughout the entire page. 2. IE is pushing the sidebar way down. Neither of these issues exist in Firefox. I think the second issue may have something to do with the first issue. Here is the relevant code. Code: html, body * { padding:0px; margin:0px; } body { background-image:url(images/bg.jpg); background-repeat:repeat-x; background-color:#fb7d21; margin:0 auto; height:100%; } div#container { width:792px; margin:0 auto; background-image:url(images/filler.jpg); background-repeat:repeat-y; } div#header { width:792px; height:109px; background-image:url(images/header.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; margin-top:20px; } div#content { float:left; width:570px; padding:0 0 0 10px; margin-top:-40px; } div#sidebar { float:right; width:212px; margin-top:-95px; } div#footer { clear:both; width:792px; height:84px; background-image:url(images/footer.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; } You can see the issues on my site here. Any idea what is causing this? Thanks in advance. I've spent the last two days struggling, trying to get the footer to stay at the bottom of the window and the two right most columns in my layout to stretch to the footer. I've search this site thorough for answers, and yes, there were many of them. But still, after implementing everyone I came across, I can't get the layout to do the above criteria in both IE and Firefox. I know, I am a total newbie but need some help with getting the css working properly. It seems that some parts work for IE and other parts work for Firefox. It seems like my left bar shows differently in IE and Firefox. Furthermore I have checked with IE on Mac and the main body doesn't show correctly either. It is displayed too short, doesn't fill the box. If anyone please could take a look at the code and see if they can help me I would appreciate it. Please anyone help me. You can see the page at: http://www.galakse.no/test/index.php/tscm/news The css is located he http://www.galakse.no/test/design/tscm/stylesheets/tscm.css Any and all help is very much appreciated! Thank you! Hi, I haven't done any .css in a while so this might be a really dumb question I could have figured out by myself but... I'm trying to make a 3 column webpage using wordpress . I've colored the three columns blue, yellow, and red. I can get the blue and red to the relative position I want, but the red one is stuck below the two others even though I want all three on the same level. I can't quite figure out what's preventing that red column from positioning itseld higher... Any thoughts? Using my http://www.thatspotonline.com as an example I'll explain my problem. I'm trying to use a 3 column fluid layout with a header and a footer. I've gotten past the browser problem with IE and now face a new problem with proper display in firefox. With the included css and attached xhtml layout I end up with a rather large gap on the bottom of the design without adding quite a bit of content to make the page length grow. I've tested with about everything else and this problem doesn't show up. I would gladly take some advise if anyone has any thanks. In IE, the "statusColumn" column falls short of the right edge of the window. Is there a way, with the width property, to make the rightmost column automatically stretch to the right edge of the browser window? If I use width:auto, it makes the cell only as wide as the text it contains. Thanks!! DM I'm attempting to get a page that has a header, footer, left navigation bar with a fixed width, with a right "fluid" content section. I can get it to work by giving the main content a "margin-left" of the width of the navigation panel, and absolutely positioning the navigation. Problem is, with the navigation being absolutely positioned, it takes it out of the flow and doesn't push the container to fit its contents. I've trying playing with using floated divs, which is I'm sure the way I'll have to go, but I want the navigation bar to always be a fixed width of 175px, and I want the content section to stretch to fill the remaining space. I'd also like to make sure the content portion appears BEFORE the navigation panel in the order it appears on the HTML for SEO purposes. I'm sure it's easy using Javascript, but I'd like to do a pure CSS solution, if possible. How do I do that? Here is the link if you want to have a look: http://www.chcs-ut.com/support.php?section=technical Well, it's been an extremely long night. I've been trying to get this bottom bar element working for at least a couple nights now, and I feel so very close. I've been trying to use footerStickAlt, which would allow me to put this baby down on the bottom of my page and would not overlap or screw up the scrolling when installed. However, as you might be able to tell from my website, http://www.brianmooremedia.com, it's not working too well. Here is my CSS: http://www.brianmooremedia.com/style.css If anybody can help me make this red bar stop and stay down once the window size has gotten smaller than it, please let me know! Thanks a ton, Brian I cannot get the footer to sit at the bottom of the page when I use absolute positioning. I need the #main to stretch to whatever the content height and the footer to sit underneath. I know its fairly easy to achieve with relative positioning but I need absolute positioning for for other elements. Can anyone help? html, body {height:100%;} #container { width: 900px; position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 50%; margin-left: -450px; } #header { width: 900px; height: 105px; position: absolute; left:0; top: 0; } #main { position: absolute; left:0; top: 105px; } #footer { position:absolute; bottom:0; border: 1px solid yellow; } I have come to the conclusion that tables are evil, plus I want to make my site very good, web standards wise. Thing is atm I suck at div tags etc. and I was wondering if anybody could offer insight into doing URL (relative positioning not absolute). It is a 3 column layout which I have heard can be hard. Also, how do you align div tags to the right of another e.g. my logo and then my current nav bar. Thanks p.s. please help, I want to change my wicked ways lol 'Ello, This problem is a bit complex to try and explain on here so if this gets too confusing just let me know and I'll try and clear up whatever you are confused about. I am currently building a site that has a wrapper div with a width set to 100% and a max-width of 1000px so that on smaller screens the site will appear nicer and not have horizontal scrollbars. In this wrapper div is a content div that is 84% of the wrappers width and has it's margin set to 0 auto to make in then content div centre in the wrapper. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to change the content divs width from 84% to 100% once the wrapper div get to a small enough size. At the moment when the screen gets too small the content div is still 84% size of the wrapper div and centred, but say on a screen with a resolution of 800x600 I think it would be more beneficial to have to content div take up the whole wrapper to display more content. I was thinking of setting a min-width but then if the screen gets smaller than the min-width a horizontal scroll bar would appear. I was just wondering if something like this was possible, if not it doesn't matter to much as I can set the min-width up for a 800x600 screen resolution and anything below that probably isn't too important anyway. Hi, noob here, I am making a site that will have a GUI skin. Greetings header, one column content body, navigation footer. My layout idea is fairly basic. Fixed width-fluid height. One column with a <div> block element with "overflow: auto" so my lengthy text content can be scrolled within the skin. What I need to figure out is how to allow the skin's graphics, with its block element body to vertically expand or contract, depending upon the user's resolution. I have considered using % values, but I don't know how to apply them to the skin's graphics properly. jbonham Can someone please help me? I am trying to get my left side column to meet my footer image... just like on this website: newcastlegateshead.com See how they side bar goes all the way down and meets the footer? Mine has a one inch gap between the bottom of the column and the footer. Does anyone know what they did to make it meet perfectly?Or the proper css code & where to put it? I've been trying to get this solved for dayyyssss Thank you so much... Hey all, See on http://yourfishguide.com/Main_Page the grass at the bottom is 'siting' on the bottom of the page? Then on http://yourfishguide.com/Your_Fish_Guide:About it's a little above the bottom of the page. How can I make the grass "stick" to the bottom of the page, regardless of the length of the content above it? Thanks, Jordan |
