CSS - Problems On Site With Firefox 3, Internet Explorer 6 And 7, Chrome And Safari Okay
Hey guys, I'm in need of some help here.
Okay, so. My site looks the way I want so far on google chrome and safari (mac). And right now I'm at the stage of getting it to display like the two. If anyone who decides to help doesn't have access to certain browsers, I'll further explain, but I think it's easiest said to see for yourself. Right now I'm focusing on ie6, ie7, ff3. The markup in some areas is whacky, I know, but I decided to pick up where I left off on this project (which I first began building awhile ago) instead of starting completely over with a good template. http://thecheckoutplace.com/compute...eOneNetbook.php If anyone can offer a hand, it means a lot. Cheers guys. Similar TutorialsHi, I'm quite new at site design and CSS but I'm trying... If you take a look at my site http://www.stunnazine.com in firefox, it looks ok. But in Explorer, you'll notice it scrolls all the way to the right and the top banner and text moves all the way to the right too. I've also noticed that when i work on my wide screen Sony Vaio txn29n, my site looks all weird in Firefox and even worse in Explorer, like the background expands all weird and the black navigation bar moves all the way to the left. What can be done so that the layout looks consistent (and normal) on most browsers and computers? I tried validator.w3.org but that didn't even seem to help... heres my currently working on site it look great on IE, Firefox and opera but i just see a blank page in Chrome and Safari!! web site: macmillanpc.host56.com/Dreamy_Elegance_template/ please help me! :/ check source, the css is in there (not linked) these is really f... me off. Sorry if its too vague, let me know if you need more details. Hi, I would really appreciate some help sorting out an error that seems to only crop up on IE. http://www.formulation.org.uk/redesign Is fine on mac browsers (Safari/Camino/Firefox etc.). and fine on windows firefox. the problem appears to be with content wrap. It covers a majority of the banner and navigation bar background. I did manage to fix this with fixed positioning - however this caused adverse effects to the footer. Thanks in advance, Tom Hi guys, On the following page http://www.thekhans.me.uk/origami.php Internet Explorer only displays the image below the content on the right hand side; This glitch is only apparent in IE, Firefox and Opera render the page correctly, like below: Any work arounds? Hey guys, I'm trying to use div classes and z positioning to make a background that will stretch to the size of the browser window. The following code works fine in Firefox but the dimensions are wrong when viewed in IE. .bg_image { width: 100%; height: 100%; left: 0px; top: 0px; position: fixed; z-index: 0; } <div class="bg_image"> <img src="image_link.extension" width="100%" height="100%"> </div> My solution so far has just been to use the following to ensure that if it doesn't load properly that at least something loads- *html .bg_image { width: 1600; height: 2150; left: 0px; top: 0px; position: absolute; z-index: 0; } Is there any way I can get IE to recognize the 100% for height and width? http://www.djoj.net/home.html <- Faulty Page http://www.djoj.net/style.css <- CSS Hey, for some reason in Internet Explorer my Div will not center and I do not know why. I will try and prvide more detaily when I get home from school. Thank you, ~Brendan I have a website (www.fullforcecreative.com) that displays properly on I.E. and Firefox. I just recently pulled it up in Google Chrome, and it appears no style sheets are being imported. I then thought "that is strange, but Safari is based on the same thing (kinda), so I'll load it in Safari." Same issue. No style sheets. Has anyone seen anything like this before? I link to one style sheet in the header. Code: <link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_url'); ?>" type="text/css; charset=utf-8" media="screen" /> This style sheet linked to from that line: Code: @charset "UTF-8"; @import url(yaml/core/base.css); @import url(css/navigation/nav_shinybuttons.css); @import url(css/screen/basemod.css); @import url(css/screen/content.css); @import url(yaml/print/print_003.css); All the other stylesheets open with the Code: @charset "UTF-8"; @media all { insert css here } The site is using YAML (http://www.yaml.de/en/) as a framework for the CSS. The only issue I could find relativly close to it was this: http://www.davidroessli.com/logs/2007/03/safari_utf8_rendering_glitch_f/ I made the change listed there (because the CSS stylesheets are in UTF-8), but it made no difference. Does anyone have any ideas? This is driving me up the wall. It does display properly in I.E. and firefox. Thanks, seth Hi All, I am new to this forum and to CSS and Web Development as a whole. I am a notch up from "total n00b". I can't post links so the website is www (dot) authenticimpressions (dot) com I built this site for my wife using Wordpress, some plugins, and some themes I bought. The Galleries all look great in Chrome and Firefox on PC, and in Firefox and Safari on Mac. But in IE7 on PC, I get a 4 or 5px white border on the bottom and the left in each of the galleries. I've played and played with the stylesheets and cannot figure this one out. What other information should I post or provide to get some help? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it. Hello all, I have bumped into some strange problems. Chrome seems to be viewing my fonts alot thinner/smaller than Safari and Firefox. Is there a method to create consistency and ignoring the webbrowsers standards? Its creating a mess, specially with my text which is using text-shadow. The blur looks like disaster. Thanks in advance. Hello All, I have an image with a text label to the right that is linked. Now, I want a little whitespace between the image and the text, so that the text doesn't butt up right against the image. To accomplish this, I could use a non-breaking space ( ) However, the space then becomes part of the link and it gets underlined. So, by adjusting the image's margin (or padding) CSS, I can achieve the desired result... at least in Internet Explorer. Firefox/Safari/Chrome seem to underline a linked image's margin as well. I tried using "padding" CSS instead, but produced the same result. How can I get Firefox/Safari/Chrome to underline JUST the text in a link, and not the image (and it's margin) as well? This is how the code is displayed in IE: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/2360/pfieeu9.jpg Firefox/Safari/Chrome: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/5421/pffirefoxvv1.jpg You can see the little extra "nubbin" of underline between the icon image and the text. CSS: Code: a.red10ullink:link {color: #a80000; font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial; text-decoration: underline;} a.red10ullink:visited {color: #a80000; font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial; text-decoration: underline;} a.red10ullink:hover {color: #333333; font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial;} img.icon {vertical-align: middle; border-width: 0px; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px;} HTML: Code: <a href="somepage.html" class="red10ullink"><img src="icon_pf.gif" alt="" width="20" height="20" class="icon" />Printer Friendly</a> Thanks! Hi Guys I am struggling to resolve a small issue i am having. I am using a mac, and am working on a contact form for a website. I am using the latest mac OS and latest versions of all browsers. The following link is fine in firefox, however, in Safari and google chrome, the 'Message' text area has a big gap above it and I do not know how to get rid of this. Here is the code for the form... <form id="form" name="frmQuote" class="contactForm" method="post" action="process.php" onsubmit="return validate_form(this);" > <ul> <li> <label for="name">Name:</label> <input name="name" id="name" type="text" class="required" /> </li> <li> <label for="email">E-mail:</label> <input name="email" id="email" type="text" class="required email" /> </il> <li> <label for="subject">Subject:</label> <input name="subject" id="subject" type="text" class="required" /> </li> <li> <label for="detail">Message:</label> <textarea name="detail" id="detail" rows="6" cols="60" class="required"></textarea> </li> <li> <input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Submit" tabindex="100" class="submitBtn" /> </li></ul> </form> Here is the css for that page... #content_about { color: #666666; } /*************************************************** CONTACT ***************************************************/ #form { margin: 0px; position: relative; padding-top: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-bottom: 20px; padding-left: 15px; float: left; } #form div { width: 510px; position: relative; float: left; padding-bottom: 9px; } #form div label { width: 400px; } #form div label.error { color: #a80000; position: absolute; top: 0px; right: 0px; text-align: right; font-size: 11px; } #form div.message_sent { background-color: #31B8DA; width: 890px; float: left; padding: 10px; margin-bottom: 15px; color: #FFFFFF; } #form input { width: 499px; padding: 8px; font-size: 13px; color: #999999; background-color: #FFFFFF; float: right; border-top-width: 1px; border-right-width: 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-left-width: 1px; border-top-style: solid; border-right-style: solid; border-bottom-style: solid; border-left-style: solid; border-top-color: #C3C3C3; border-right-color: #E8E8E8; border-bottom-color: #E8E8E8; border-left-color: #C3C3C3; } #form input:focus, #form textarea:focus { background-color: #F4F4F4; } #form textarea { width: 500px; padding: 8px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: #FFFFFF; color: #aaaaaa; border-top-width: 1px; border-right-width: 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-left-width: 1px; border-top-style: solid; border-right-style: solid; border-bottom-style: solid; border-left-style: solid; border-top-color: #C3C3C3; border-right-color: #E8E8E8; border-bottom-color: #E8E8E8; border-left-color: #C3C3C3; float: right; margin: 0px; } #form .submitBtn { background-color: #31b8da; width: 95px; color: #FFFFFF; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; padding: 0px; font-size: 16px; height: 35px; display: block; margin-top: 20px; } #form .submitBtn:hover { background-color: #1F93B4; color: #FFFFFF; } #form .submitBtn:focus { background-color: #4FC1E1; } #form strong { font-size: 24px; color: #FFFFFF; font-weight: normal; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 5px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-bottom-style: solid; border-bottom-color: #6a6a6a; display: block; } #form .font-11 { font-size: 11px; color: #CCCCCC; display: inline; } #content_about #form li label { margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 35px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; line-height: 30px; } #content_about #form li { padding-top: 10px; padding-right: 15px; padding-bottom: 10px; padding-left: 0px; } Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Jay Hi, I'm studyng php for content management system. The php is ok. I used an external stylesheet, when i see it in Firefox is ok. But when i see it in Explorer it's not ok. The problem is on the left colum, the lists don't work well in Explorer. It seems to be difference between how Explorer and Firefox works with Stylesheets. If can anyone help to make this css code compatible for the two browsers. Hi- I am finishing up design of a site, and validated it with the W3c validator (everything is valid). When I go to it on IE, everything shows up the way that it should. However, when I go to it on Firefox or Safari, on three pages there seems to be a 'chunk' taken out of the left side. If you compare the three pages in IE and Firefox you should see what I mean (devshed won't let me post links so sorry for the formatting): 01f086d.netsolhost dot com/yk/services dot html 01f086d.netsolhost dot com/yk/experience dot html 01f086d.netsolhost dot com/yk/principals dot html It seems to be the page length that is causing this, because on shorter length pages, there is no chunk. I am using DIV tags to lay the site out, which should be pretty easy to follow if you view source. My CSS file is at: 01f086d.netsolhost dot com/yk/assets/css/defaultPage dot css (also validated with W3C). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I have spent hours on this last problem and can't figure out what is causing it! hello. i'm using a CSS tutorial and DREAMWEAVER to build a website. i find that the site is interpreted the way i would like it in either Firefox or Safari...but not in IE. When links are hovered over while using IE, the page distorts. has anyone experienced this type of problem before? thank you in advance for your time and assistance! i did post several explanatory screenshots to illustrate the problem. replace each "@" with a period. mea culpa. www@wwpea@net/screenshots@htm Hi, I thought I fixed this problem before. In the videos playlist at the bottom, video description (background black). It needs to be positioned 20 pixels down. You will understand it better if you view it in Firefox. http://pangeaadvisors.org/default.asp Code: #content #videos .playlist { float:left; width:442px; height:292px; margin:10px 0; background:#FFFFFF url(images/bg_videoplaylist.gif) repeat-x; background-position:-1px 0; border:1px solid #083684; position:relative; overflow:hidden; } #content #videos .playlist .entries { position:absolute; width:10000em; height:60px; } #content #videos .playlist .entries .video { float:left; width:422px; height:60px; font-size:14px; font-weight:bold; text-decoration:none; padding:20px; background:transparent url(images/player_entry.gif) 0 0 no-repeat; } #content #videos .playlist .entries .playing { background-position:0px -80px; } #content #videos .playlist .entries .paused { background-position:-432px -80px; } #content #videos .playlist .entries .progress { opacity:0.8; } #content #videos .playlist .entries em { float:right; color:red; font-style:normal; margin:14px; } #content #videos .playlist .entries .description { float:right; width:442px; height:212px; background:#000 url(http://flowplayer.org/img/player/btn/play_large.png) right bottom no-repeat; } #content #videos .playlist .entries .description p { color:#FFF; width:422px; height:192px; font-size:12px; font-weight:none; text-decoration:none; padding:10px; position:absolute; } Hey people. i have created a "fixed" toolbar for my website and runs fine in both safari and firefox... however in IE 6 and 7 the toolbar gets stuck and does not flow with the page. i used a fix which makes it apear in the right place this can be found he http://tagsoup.com/cookbook/css/fixed/ here is the website so far, try opening it in both IE and another brouser too see the difference. http://people.brunel.ac.uk/~dt08ajm/playgroundtest/ any ideas on how i can fix it? i can post the code if needed. thanks in advance. My website, currently http://12.214.26.185 does not render correctly in IE. It renders in Mozilla and Konqueror. I am posting my css file. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. i have a div on a page that i want to be centered. i am using in css as Code: margin: 0 auto that works fine and is centered in firefox, but is left aligned in internet explorer. how to accompalish it in iexplorer ?? Hey guys. I found some CSS code that will causes the latest IE 6 browsers to display an error reporting window if the service is running and close IE. It works on two computers. A celeron 1.2GHz and an Athlon 2600+. Here is the original code that IE works fine with. Code: /*nav.css*/ #nav *{font: small-caps normal 98%/1em sans-serif;display:block;} #nav * a{color:#9fb594;display:block;} #nav_list,#nav,#nav_main{float:left;clear:none;} #nav_main{background-image:url('../image/nav_bg.png');background-repeat:repeat-y;width:122px;} #nav_foot{background-image:url('../image/nav_foot.png');background-repeat:no-repeat;height:177px;width:122px;} #nav_foot{font: small-caps normal .6em/1em sans-serif;} #nav_foot a{width:105px;margin-top:2px;vertical-align:bottom;} #nav * ul{list-style-type:none;padding:0;margin:0;} #sub_nav_list{background-color:#000;text-align:right;} .nav_item,.sub_nav_item,.selected,.sub_nav_item a{width:105px;} .nav_item,.sub_nav_item,.selected,.sub_nav_item a,#sub_nav_list,#nav_foot{float:left;clear:both;} .nav_item{height:2.2em;} .sub_nav_item a{padding-bottom:.5em;min-height:1em;} .selected a.nav_hlink{font:normal small-caps 900 98%/1em sans-serif;} #nav_main * a:hover{background-color:#333;} The last item, the hover, is what is changed. Code: /*nav.css*/ #nav *{font: small-caps normal 98%/1em sans-serif;display:block;} #nav * a{color:#9fb594;display:block;} #nav_list,#nav,#nav_main{float:left;clear:none;} #nav_main{background-image:url('../image/nav_bg.png');background-repeat:repeat-y;width:122px;} #nav_foot{background-image:url('../image/nav_foot.png');background-repeat:no-repeat;height:177px;width:122px;} #nav_foot{font: small-caps normal .6em/1em sans-serif;} #nav_foot a{width:105px;margin-top:2px;vertical-align:bottom;} #nav * ul{list-style-type:none;padding:0;margin:0;} #sub_nav_list{background-color:#000;text-align:right;} .nav_item,.sub_nav_item,.selected,.sub_nav_item a{width:105px;} .nav_item,.sub_nav_item,.selected,.sub_nav_item a,#sub_nav_list,#nav_foot{float:left;clear:both;} .nav_item{height:2.2em;} .sub_nav_item a{padding-bottom:.5em;min-height:1em;} .selected a.nav_hlink{font:normal small-caps 900 98%/1em sans-serif;} #nav_main * a:hover{background-color:#333; width:80%;margin:auto; } This works fine in Firefox, doesn't look too good. I'm trying to figure something out so that when it's actived it looks kinda like the buttons used in a lot of linux console setup programs. Like the nvidia driver installer and the slackware setup buttons. Trying to figure out how to make this crapy looking site look better. I guess stupid "animations" based on linux console isn't the best way to go :P |
