CSS - Align Text To Left Of Image
I'm having cross-browser compatibility with my website. On the right hand side I want to have images on the right and text to its left. I've tried variations of html/css but one seems to work with one browser and then not with the other.
In safari it looks fine right now. http://www.ryanbuckley.ca/photos/ Can anyone help with this little annoyance? Thanks in advance! Ryan Similar TutorialsConfused yet? What's the best way to accomplish this? page testimonials.css Main.CSS If you look at the page, you will see that I have the "signature" of the testimonial giver aligned right, but I would like the two p elements to be aligned along their left edge as well (but on the right side of the page, with everything flowing around any images)... I tried floating them right, which and clearing the floats, but then the testimonials don't flow around the images... can this be done without getting divitis? When i float my div to the left, i cant seem to get the text to align right, can someone show me a way out of this horriable predicament i have found my self in!! Figured this was simple, but I can't seem to figure it out. Using CSS, I want to put an image on the left with text to the right aligned to the bottom. I could easily do this with a table, but I'd like to find a CSS way. With CSS like: .imginfo {float:none;clear:both;margin-top:1em;} .imginfo img {float:left;margin-right:1em;} and code like: Code: <div class="imginfo"> <img src="..." /> Line of Text<br /> Line of Text<br /> Line of Text<br /> </div> I get the image on the left and the text on the right, but, the text starts at the top of the image. I want it to end up aligned to the bottom of the image. Attempting to use vertical-align: bottom doesn't do anything with the text. The effect I am looking for is like below. If you assume the XXX are the image... Code: XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX Line of Text XXXXXXXXXXXX Line of Text XXXXXXXXXXXX Line of Text Hi all if you look here -> http://www.prxa.info/gol2/community.php to the right where it has status updates i wish the update itself to align to the top of the avatar images to the left of it? I have a header wrapper for a column heading that sets the width and background of the column header. In that column header I have a tag for the header title, which is aligned left. Know, I find that the customer wants to add an "As of Date", on the same line, but wants it aligned right. Is this even possible to do? I cannot seem to come up with the correct .css code that would allow me to do this. html code Code: <div class="wide_column_header"><span class="headerbartext">Make Your Enrollment Selection</span><span class="headerbartextright">As of 3/31/2008</span></div> css tags: Code: .wide_column_header { float:left; width:558px; margin:0 0 0 5px; background-image:url(../images/wide_header.jpg); height:21px; font-size:100%; font-weight:900; line-height:100%; vertical-align:bottom; color:#fff;} .headerbartext { font-size: 12px; font-weight:bold; text-align:right; padding-left:15px; line-height: 140%;} .headerbartextright { font-size: 12px; font-weight:bold; text-align:right; padding-right:15px; line-height: 140%;} I am designing this page: theticketsguide.com/sample Scroll down to where the text reads, "Easy Navigation." I have (more or less) managed to vertically align this text with the image next to it, but I used padding instead of a cleaner, more exact "vertical-align" function. I've tried to put vertical-align:middle for the text, but it doesn't do anything. Any help as to what the right solution is to this? I don't want to use padding. Thanks, Brandon Hi! I'm in no way "new" to CSS and html, but I don't work with it on a regular basis. That said, what I'm trying to do, I would expect to work without too much trouble, but it's just not behaving like I'd expect. Seeing code is always a lot easier than trying to describe it, so here's the link to the page I'm trying to fix : chromocode.ca/test/ The issue I have is that the search box doesn't align with the image of the search button, even though they are the same height, and all elements (the input, the image, and its containing div) have 0 padding and 0 margin. I tried to put a top-margin of 2px on the image, that lowered the whole thing. Besides, it doesn't look exactly the same in IE7, Firefox and Chrome, so I don't want to start pixel-adjusting for each browser. Does anyone have any clue what I could do to fix this? How do you vertically align some larger sized text with an image that is floating left inside a div? The image is 152px in height and I set the div height to be 162px so there is padding of 5px around the image. Artoo Hi, I'm fairly new to CSS but I've been enjoying working with it. I've now stumbled onto a problem that is making me tear my hair out. I have a centered, fixed width 2-column design. and I'm trying to insert an image and float it left so that the text in the div wraps around it. The problem is that the image keeps being pushed down to the 3rd or 4th paragraph instead of the actual paragraph it's placed in. What could be causing this? I've included my code below. Thanks! I'm reasonably new to tableless-design, and i've run into the common problem of aligning one bit of text to the left of a line and another to the right. I have searched the web and have found several means of achieving this, but in my case there is an image combined with a inline list (horizontal menu) that needs to be aligned left, and another combination of text and images to the right. | [image] text .... right-side text | This might seem rather simple, but it becomes more complicated: the entire block needs to be padded on the top in order for the text not to appear cramped up at the top, and the left-margin and right-margin of the image is then set to the corresponding negative values in order for it to still be displayed precisely in the top left corner. I have found this to be the only cross-browser compatible method. All the methods I have experimented with to align the two sides on left and right have either resulted in the image and text to be incorrectly (vertically) aligned or be displayed in different lines, even when the image is not used as part of the alignment-method. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanx I used a form generator online that utilizes CSS and PHP. I am very comfortable with programming; but, I have never used CSS. I tried tweaking everything I could and no luck changing the CSS to left-align the entire form. I thought they used padding; but, I can't figure out where. Also, I removed the CSS to make sure the alignment wasn't part of the HTML - it is definitely embedded in the CSS as the form left-aligned (just not as attractive). Here is the CSS - apologies for the length. As you will undoubtedly see, this is my first post and I am not sure of your protocols for posting code. body { background:#fffff; font-family:"Lucida Grande", Tahoma, Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size:small; margin:8px 0 16px; text-align:left; } #form_container { background:#fff; border:1px solid #ccc; margin:0 auto; text-align:left; width:640px; } #top { display:block; height:10px; margin:10px auto 0; width:650px; } #footer { width:640px; clear:both; color:#999999; text-align:left; width:640px; padding-bottom: 15px; font-size: 85%; } #footer a{ color:#999999; text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999999; } #bottom { display:block; height:10px; margin:0 auto; width:650px; } form.appnitro { margin:0px 0px 0; padding:0 0 20px; } There is much more CSS; but, I believe the issue is isolated to this section. Below is a simple 1 row example of elements contained in our div tables Code: <div class="tracks-result-page" style=""> <div class="track-element"> <input class="track-select-checkbox" type="checkbox"><h4 class="track-name">Track</h4><span class="created-date">23-Jul-2008 17:13</span><span class="duration">47m</span><a href="#" class="view-button">view</a><a href="/viewtrack" class="edit-button">edit</a><a href="#" class="details-button">show details</a><input value="d5f173a2-b35e-4489-b468-33a05b1e4997" class="track-id" type="hidden"> </div> <div class="track-element"> ....more elements </div> </div> Basically, I have 800 px to fit this data in from our site template. What's happening is on smaller resolutions, the 3 anchor tags aren't fitting in 800 px due to large font size vs table width, and the anchor elements are wrapping around. I have a lot of white space after the description, and currently have a fixed width on that div. What I need is to right align everything from the "created-date" class to the end of the element, then left align the "track-select-checkbox" and the "track-name" elements. I'm having a really tough time doing this for some reason. I can't use "float:right;" on the elements that need right aligned. If I do, they all appear in reverse order! Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Todd Hello, Is there a way to have padding (say 15px) all around a cell, but allow for expections, like having one div element float:left and align far left against cell border while everything else is inset 15px. ie. I have "text-align:left;" specified, however the text is centered when it is too narrow to fill the screen. The URL of the page in question is http://what-is-what.com . Here is my site: www.kohlrbaby.com The issues: 1) nav bars are no longer positioned correctly vertically, nor can I get the text to center in FF 2) the white box extends longer then it should in FF vs IE 3) the text is extending off the white box in the catalogue area in FF please please offer me some css insight here is my .css code: BODY { PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; margin:0px auto; SCROLLBAR-HIGHLIGHT-COLOR: #ffffff; SCROLLBAR-SHADOW-COLOR: #a1b7d2; SCROLLBAR-FACE-COLOR: #a1b7d2; SCROLLBAR-ARROW-COLOR: #003366; SCROLLBAR-TRACK-COLOR: #cccccc; FONT-FAMILY: verdana, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a1b7d2; TEXT-ALIGN: center; COLOR: black; FONT-SIZE: 12px; } #menuList { PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px } #menuList UL { PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px } #menuList LI { DISPLAY: inline; LIST-STYLE-TYPE: none } A.actuator { PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; FONT-SIZE: 9px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; COLOR: #000; PADDING-TOP: 0px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; TEXT-DECORATION: none } A.actuator:hover { COLOR: #958550 } .menu { BORDER-RIGHT: #ccc 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #ccc 1px solid; VISIBILITY: hidden; BORDER-LEFT: #ccc 1px solid; COLOR: #000; BORDER-BOTTOM: #ccc 1px solid; POSITION: absolute; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff } .menu LI A { PADDING-RIGHT: 10px; DISPLAY: block; PADDING-LEFT: 10px; FONT-SIZE: 9px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; COLOR: #000; LINE-HEIGHT: 1.75em; PADDING-TOP: 0px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff; T EXT-DECORATION: none } .menu LI A:hover { COLOR: #eee; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #a1b7d2 } SPAN.key {TEXT-DECORATION: underline} #homeMenu {WIDTH: 100px} #catalogueMenu {WIDTH: 100px} #wholesaleMenu {WIDTH: 100px} #wheretobuyMenu {WIDTH: 100px} #contactMenu {WIDTH: 100px} A {FONT-WEIGHT: normal; COLOR: #000000; TEXT-DECORATION: none } A:visited {COLOR: #000000} A:hover {COLOR: #958550} A.set1:link {text-decoration: none; color: #7c8895 } A.set1:visited {text-decoration: none; color:#990000} A.set1:hover {text-decoration: none; color:#958550} #navHeader { PADDING-TOP: 0; HEIGHT: 110px; BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 1px solid; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto; WIDTH: 650px; POSITION: relative; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 1px solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff; TEXT-ALIGN: center; z-index: 10; } #logoHolder{ position: relative; } img.nav_left{ float: left; } #smallLogo { POSITION: relative; top: 30px; left: -145px; font size: 11px; font-weight: bold; } div.gray_layer { background:#cccccc; height: 20px; width: 650px; border: solid #000000; border-right-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-width: 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; position: relative; text-align: center; z-index: 50; top: 56px; } #second_links { FONT-SIZE: 9px; TEXT-ALIGN: center; position: relative; top: 58px; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto; margin:0px auto; } #navImageBox{ BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: 0px; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 1px solid; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto; WIDTH: 650px; POSITION: relative; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 1px solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff; TEXT-ALIGN: center; } #verticalLine{ height: 12px; width: 500px; border-right:#000000 1px solid; } img.banner{ BORDER-TOP: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-bottom: #000000 1px solid; } #contentHolder{ PADDING-TOP: 0; PADDING-bottom: 0; PADDING-left: 0; PADDING-right: 0; BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-Bottom: #000000 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 1px solid; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto; WIDTH: 650px; POSITION: relative; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff; text-align: center; } #text{ padding: 10 30 0 30; line-height: 1.75em; text-align: left; } #catalogue{ padding: 20 30 15 25; width: 650px; position:relative; height: 100%; background:transparent; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; } .outline {border: 1px solid black;} div.catalogue_pic { position: relative; float: left; padding-right: 8px; } div.catalogue_text{ text-align: left; position: relative; LINE-HEIGHT: 1.25em; } div.float { position: relative; float: left; margin: 5 5 5 5; } div.float p { text-align: center; } #bottomText{ padding: 0px; margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-right: 20%; margin-left: 20%; /* opera does not like 'margin:20px auto' */ background: none; border: none; border-top: none; text-align:center; voice-family: "\"}\""; voice-family:inherit; font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; } #blueBox{ text-align: center; position: relative; height: 27px; width: 150px; background-COLOR: #a1b7d2; top: -26px; } I'm creating a dynamic calendar and I can't get the numbers in the cells of my calendar table to align top-right! Here is my unformatted table... Code: <tr height="75"> <td><div align="right">12</div></td> <td><div style="vertical-align:top; text-align:right">13</div></td> <td>14</td> <td>15</td> <td>16</td> <td>17</td> <td>18</td> </tr> I want the numbers to be aligned top right, but if I put other data in there(currently there is none, but there will be), I'd like it to be aligned left. I tried using the vertical-align property in a div tag, but that didn't do anything... I can get it to align right with a div tag... sorry if it's such a stupid quesiton... Also, a side note... I thought that span allows you to align text as well using the style property, but that doesn't work at all (not even just to the right) |
