CSS - Please Help - Myspace Background Won't Show On Only One User's Profile
Hey everyone. I have never posted here before, but I am really needing some help. I am not a newbie, and make layouts on a regular basis. Now I am not claming that I know everything about CSS cause I def don't...lol...but this one has really got me stumped. Please help.
I created a layout for a friend of mine. He was complaining about the background not showing up. Well I immediately went and checked the code and IT WORKED JUST FINE. I tried the layout code on two other user's myspace profiles and used two different computers to check it and CRAZY ENOUGH, it was still working perfectly. However when you add the layout to his profile, the background will just NOT show up. It is not only this layout, but I tried different layouts, once that I created and ones I didn't. Whenever you put a layout code in his profile, every other element of the layout works EXCEPT for the background showing up. So I figured it must be some other code pasted in one of his sections, screwing the layout code up. WRONG AGAIN! I took at ALL other codes in every section and the background still won't work. I even tried changes Myspace account settings and all kinds of crazy off the wall things, and I can't get it to work. Has anyone ever heard of this? Please tell me you have, and that you know what might be causing this...and have a fix. It is driving me insane. Thanks! I have a layout made up of divs, and held together by another div. That holder div is supposed to have a background image, but it wont show on every browser that I've tried, except IE7. Here's the id: #holder { background-image: url(/files/images/CSS/header.png); width: 750px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; } Backgrounds show on other divs, so why not this one? My css code Code: #menu {width:172px; padding: 0; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: #FFFFFF; color: #333;} #menu ul {border: 1px black solid; list-style: none; padding: 0; margin: 0 0 1 0; background-color: #d1d1d1;} #menu li .menu_box {background-image: url('./images/menu_fill.gif'); margin-left: 200px;} #menu li {border: none; margin: 0;} #menu li a {display: block; padding: 5px 5px 5px 0.5em; background-color: #FFFFFF; text-decoration: none; width: 100%;} My html code Code: <div id='menu'> <ul> <li class='menu_box'><img src='./images/menu_news.gif' alt='' /></li> <li><a href='{$url}'>+ Home</a></li> <li><a href='{$url}about.php'>+ About Nascar Interior</a></li> </ul> <ul> <li class='menu_box'><img src='./images/menu_services.gif' alt='' /></li> <li><a href='{$url}portfolio.php'>+ Portfolio</a></li> <li><a href='{$url}enquiry.php'>+ Enquiry</a></li> </ul> </div> For some reason I can't get menu_fill.gif to fill the <li> with the class menu_box. Hi, I have a page where I am including a background image via CSS. It looks fine when viewed in a browser, but when I print it the background does not show up. I have my stylesheet include set to both screen and print: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="includes/css/form.css" media="screen, print"> The CSS code in question that sets the background image is: #title{ background: url(../../images/title_bg.gif); width: 398px; height: 52px; text-align: right; } <div id="title"> <div class="titleText"><cfoutput>#FormDETAIL.strTitle#</cfoutput></div> </div> Why can I not see this background image when I print the page?? I am working on this page: http://concrete-creative.com/pp/products.html and the problem I am having is that I want the rest of the "flower" image to show behind the content area... I have it set as the background image of that table, but it's not showing up. Here's an image of how it is supposed to appear: http://concrete-creative.com/pp/pp_sample.jpg Can anyone direct me on how to work this out? Thank you! Any ideas on why this is happening? IE has been going weird when ever I use background images It was showing up until I changed something in the CSS that I can't change back (because it would mess up the formatting), and now I don't know how to further change the CSS to get the footer to display properly. (Um... can't post link to the site, what should i do?) For reference, the footer background is the same as the navigation background (silver). It may currently be set to highlightred.png but that was so I could try to determine if it was offset behind anything. It doesn't appear to be, unless it's lining up perfectly behind highlight.png from the navigation. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance. Hello, Im using a separate style.css file to define everything through the site... ive put in this code: Code: .sideheadline {font-family:Verdana,Sans-serif; font-weight:bold; color:#FFFFFF; background-color: #003366; background-image: url(images/bg.gif); background-repeat:repeat; background-attachment:fixed; font-size:10px; } and connected to this line: Code: print "<tr class='sideheadline'><td>Look at the rest too</td></tr>"; But nomatter what i try the image wont show, i tried several images and theyre loadable from the urlbar... so the image works Now i went to w3schools and tested with the online editor... there this exact code works, but then when i copy it to my site it wont! I have just started writing a page and the first thing I did was establish a body background color and image. It works in IE but not FF. Can someone please give me a clue what is wrong. I have searched all the CSS books and the internet but I cannot find an answer. Thanks in advance. The URL is http://www.childrens-stories.me.uk/ Hi, I'm using html:link with a background image. This works fine on IE and Firefox, but the link won't show in Mozilla. Could changes to the css fix this? Does anyone know how to solve this? Regards, Nina I have a Wordpress site. The layout has some complex elements, but strangely the one thing that doesn't work is the background-color that I am setting using the "body" selector. It works great on Firefox and IE (imagine that!) but not on Safari or Chrome, which are Webkit-based. It is supposed to have a gray background, but those two browsers just show the default white. The following is the code I'm using in the body selector.. not much places where something could be going wrong. css Code: Original - css Code body { margin: 0px; padding: 0px; background-color: #333333; }
The link to the page is he http://montanlaw.com I don't understand why things aren't working... it seems to me like background-color should be a very well-supported property that shouldn't have much variance between browsers. Anyone have any tips? Note: I tried validating the code to see if there was an error there - however, it's all valid except two little (unrelated) things that I could easily fix if I needed to. Thanks in advance for any help, chip19 Hey, Myspace allows users to customize their profiles with CSS, and what i've done is cover my profile with a blank DIV overlay. How can I include a flash component in my DIV? I'm trying to include this little flipbook device onto my profile sothink.com/tutorials/viewtopic.php?t=61 The flipbook you'll see is obviously not hosted by the forums (...I think,) it is hosted elsewhere and the user just included it in her bulletin post. What code allows you to do that? And would it be possible to include such a code onn my DIV overlay? Thanks, I have some CSS code that was generated form a myspace layout site. I'm not too familiar with using CSS, and it all looks pretty good with the exception of one issue I'd like to change. The CSS code makes the "Sections" somewhat transparent. Which I want, however, it also adds the main picture (which is my default pic of me) as transparent as well, which I don't want. I'd like to exclude just the picture from being transparent. Does anyone know how to alter the code to exclude that? Here is the code that I am using. Any help is much appreciated. Buddypress is a social network plug-in for wordpress, and it uses a theme system with a parent and child theme. The child theme has no profile css. But the parent theme does have css for the profile. I got it to the point to where I can change the background, and I got 1 div with an image to float over the page. But unfortunately thats the most that I can get to happen. By typing in css codes into a profile form. I am using the most current versions of WP and BP. So this is the code that I inserted into a php file. The php file is members-header.php, Code: <script> $("#wrapper").css("background-image", "<?php bp_profile_field_data( 'field=Embedz' ); ?>"); </script> Had a huge list of different tags in where the background-image tag is. I would like to be able to have my users insert custom html & css codes into a form on the edit profile page. It would be nice if they can change the background: color, image. Table borders, colors, transparency, padding. Add marquees, falling text. Float divs anywhere they want. Change fonts, link styles etc. Pretty much just like myspace. Im hoping it can be something with this code: Code: <script> $("#wrapper").css("background-image", "<?php bp_profile_field_data( 'field=Embedz' ); ?>"); </script> Mabey: Code: <script> $("#wrapper").css("@import", "<?php bp_profile_field_data( 'field=Embedz' ); ?>"); </script> or Code: <script> $("#wrapper").css("@export", "<?php bp_profile_field_data( 'field=Embedz' ); ?>"); </script> I don't know, Im not that advanced in css. Thanks in advanced for the help. Hopefully I'm just not stumbling on the right CSS to fix the bugs. I understand that these same bugs might be attributed to the myspade code or myspace rules limiting html/css. Here's the mock-up: www.myspace.com/brovizion 2 bugs (1 in firefox, 1 in ie (6.0)): 1. (firefox only) There are 2 nav bars in the "innerwrapper" div (both black), one at the top, and one at the bottom. On the lower nav bar, my background image that is supposed to tile vertically throughout the whole "innerwrapper" div disapppears. 2. (ie only) The upper and lower nav bars (whose links are set to display: block) are on each of their own lines, yet still floated horizontally. This one is hard to explain except to say the nav bars should work like they do in firefox, but in ie they are on their own program. Viewing the site in both browsers will clearly demonstrate the problem. (ie 6.0, haven't tested in 7.0 yet.) I understand that the nature of this project (a design that must reside in a div overlay on a myspace page) makes for a million different possibilities for why it's messed up, but maybe if someone can help me brainstorm some potential fixes, I'll stumble onto something that works. I'll post my code as well. Inside that div, is essentially my entire website. Now if I apply the opacity to the main outer div, all the divs inside inherit that transparency. Any ways to get around this? The outer Div with the transparency is the "content_wrapper" div. It excludes the header and footer. So the only issue is correcting everything wrapped inside the "content_wrapper" and "content" div. I tried setting the "content" div to opacity: 1; but it had no effect whatsoever. http://www.area51entertainment.co/index.php?about So I have a design where the background is a large (1400x1100) image that fades into a vertical gradient at the edges. I've set up the css as follows: body { background: #000 url(gradient.jpg) repeat-x; margin: 0; } Here's where I run into my problem... I've created an empty DIV to hold the large image which will appear on top of the gradient and positioned it absolutely. <div id="bg_image"></div> #bg_image { width: 100%; height: 1100px; background: url(images/bg_image.jpg) no-repeat top center; margin: 0; position:absolute; } This works and the background looks like it should, however because the large image is inside a DIV, any time the browser window is smaller than that div (which will be the case for most users considering the image size) there will be scrollbars. This makes perfect sense of course I just can't come up with an alternative. If there was a way to extend a background image beyond the borders of a DIV that would work but overflow:visible; doesn't seem to work with background images only content. I wish I could set a repeating background AND a static background in the body style, because that is exactly the effect I'm trying to achieve. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
