CSS - Listbox Border Styles
Hi, I am trying to change the border color of a listbox. But i could not find the exact CSS code. I wanted the border to be 1px solid #FF0000. But still i am getting the default blue color. Please help. I seperately wrote a css code,
.listmenu{ border-width:1px solid #FF0000; font: 12px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color:#FF0000; width:200px; height:20px; } Similar TutorialsHi. Have created some simple tabs using table cells. Active tab should have bottom-border color equal to page background-color. Non-active tabs should have bottom-border=black. Works fine in IE, but does not work very well in Firefox. If I remove the border-collapse:collapse on the table, then firefox also work... but I would like to be able to keep the 1px border between each table cell. So is there a way to make this work in both IE and Firefox... and hopefully most other browsers... New to CSS, forgive my ignorence... I have started using CSS to assign classes to form elements, this works fine with input boxes but has no effect when assigning the same class to a dropdown listbox "<select>" - no change is apparrent in their appearance... Can anyone help please? Is this anything to do with 'contextual selectors'? If so how can I perform what i want to do? Sample of my code... Title: <select name="CUSTTITLE" class="formelements" > <option value="" <?php if (!(strcmp("", $form->value("CUSTTITLE")))) {echo "SELECTED";} ?>></option> <option value="Mr" <?php if (!(strcmp("Mr", $form->value("CUSTTITLE")))) {echo "SELECTED";} ?>>Mr</option> <option value="Mrs" <?php if (!(strcmp("Mrs", $form->value("CUSTTITLE")))) {echo "SELECTED";} ?>>Mrs</option></option> <input name="CUSTFIRSTNAME" type="text" class="formelements" size="15" maxlength="40" value=" <? if($form->value("CUSTFIRSTNAME") == ""){ echo $session->userinfo['CUSTFIRSTNAME']; }else{ echo $form->value("CUSTFIRSTNAME"); } ?>"> .formelements { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; color: #000000; margin: 1px; border: 1px solid #CCCCCC; } Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Arco I'm a little puzzled by this weird display bug by IE7, this bug doesn't occur in IE6. It had to do with the DIV's CSS's border-style. If you set it to double then you notice some random bugs with it. Some of the time, the border is displayed without a problem. Some of the time, it is displayed with some gaps in the line as if it is not being drawn upon. Some of the other time, it is not displayed at all. I noticed if I switch from one tab to another then back, the border appeared as if nothing had happened. I also noticed that if I open the view source that overlapp the web browser then closed it, the border appeared as if nothing had happened. How do you fix that problem? Thanks... Hi I'm trying to add a background image to a list box however it works in firefox well but in IE i cannot see the background image. Can someone helpme Here is the code Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> <!-- .listbox_picture { padding-left:22px;background:url(icon_photo.gif) left center no-repeat;border:solid 1px white;border-bottom-color:#f0f0f0; } .listbox_video { padding-left:22px;background:url(icon_video.gif) left center no-repeat;border:solid 1px white;border-bottom-color:#f0f0f0; } --> </style> </head> <body> <form name="form1" method="post" action=""> <select name="select" size="2"> <option value="sss" class="listbox_picture">sss</option> <option value="sss" class="listbox_video">ssssa</option> </select> </form> </body> </html> I would like to set up a table with a different border than the cells inside it. Here's my code: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> TABLE {border: 1px solid black; border-collapse: collapse; width: 200px} TD {border: 1px solid #ccc} </style> </head> <body> <table> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> That's all hunky dory in (gasp!) IE, but good browsers...they only show the lighter gray color. How do I get the table border to be different? Hi, This used to be my solution: Code: <table border=1 bordercolorlight='#CCCCCC' Bordercolordark='#FFFFFF'> But this only works well on IE - not Mozilla Now I want to use CSS: Code: .results { border: 1px solid #CCCCCC ; } Code: <table class='results'> --------------- The problem is, with CSS, only the TABLE acquires the border property. The cells within it don't. If I specify Code: <td class='results'> for all the cells in the table, this also won't work, because the cell borders overlap each other and some border lines seem thicker than others (because of overlapping). Is there any simple way I can specify the border property for the table - in ONE declaration? I want the table and td borders all to be a simple 1px width ...is that possible in one declaration? Thanks a lot! Hello -- new to this forum. My questions concerns a problem I've run into many times. I'm trying to be CSS-moral and use style sheets as much as possible, or a least place properties in the Header. But here's what I run into. Many times I find it necessary to have different properties for the same tag within the Body. Currently, I use CSS to create the Menu items at the top of each web page, an Unordered List, using the "li" tags. Ok, but I just discovered that by using a new CSS statement, I can use custom bullets in the Body's li tag: list-style-image : url(bullet.gif) . Cool!!! So, I went about making a little dog bone .gif and used it for my bullet graphic halfway down the page. Voila! It worked. Voila! I suddenly have dog bones in my menu (which I don't want !), which also use the li tag. I only know two workarounds. 1) is to go back to the BAD practice of using the taboo in-line style="images/dogbone.gif" in each li within the body and NOT put the statement in the Header style section or 2) at least try to use CSS in the header by making a class like li.bone { list-style-image : bone} and then repeat class="bone" for each li in the body, which is only slightly shorter than just putting in the style="xxx" in the first place. So, how do we handle using different style properties for the same tag within the body? Perplexed, Mike I'd like to seperate blocks of text with a horazontal rule. I'd like it to be dashed. So, I've come up with this: Quote: hr { border: none 0; border-top: 1px dashed #000; width:98%; height: 1px } However, although this works well in IE, it Firefox there is too much space between the HR and the text block under it. In other words, the text above the HR comes right up to the line, but the text under the line, there is a larger gap. Any way to close the gap? Any ideas? Unfortunately I am not very experienced and I am trying to edit some coding that has been done for me. The code is as follows <div title="[[TITLE]]" style='background-image: url ([bg]); padding: 5%; width:90%; height:100%; padding-left: 6%; padding-right: 6%; background-size: 100% 100%; '> Now what happens is the words I type in this box are beautifully laid out because of the padding... The images placed in the box should stretch border to border - but obviously don't because of the padding.... Can anyone please tell me what I can change to give my text padding but images with no padding? Thanks so much I am hacking a clients css. Can someone tell me where I am going wrong. His site is a Smarty one. Here is the meta tags. The website is www.russiansweets.us and I am trying to format the links in the right nav menu underneath the search function that are presently red. I added class A.one:{} Class but it seems not to make a difference. I get the same color links before as after (red) Code: <html> <head> link href="stylenew.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> {literal} <style> A { COLOR: red; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 11px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; TEXT-DECORATION: none } A:hover { COLOR: #993300; FONT-SIZE: 11px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; TEXT-DECORATION: none } // here is the part I added a.one { COLOR: #FFFFFF; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 13px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; TEXT-DECORATION: none } a.one:hoover { COLOR: #FFFFFF; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 13px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; TEXT-DECORATION: none } </style> //end of what I added {/literal} Here is the html Code: <td> <a class="one" href="disclaimer.php">Disclaimer</a> </td> i imagine this has to be one of the easiest questions, yet i have looked at tons of css table pages and cant find the answer. All im trying to do is create different styles for my tables on my website for example: Code: <table class="table1"> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> </table> <table class="table2"> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> </table> table 1 would have the following: black background white text underline text table2 would have the following: green background black text larger fonts the above colors are just an example, but my question is how would i do my CSS to support this if i wanted it to look this way? Thanks for any help. Hi, I am having trouble setting up different link styles in my site. My code is: Code: .menu { font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 18px; color: #FFFFFF; } a.menu:link { color : #FFFFFF; text-decoration : none; } a.menu:visited { color : #FFFFFF; text-decoration : none; } a.menu:hover { color : #FFFFFF; text-decoration : underline; } a:link { color : #FFFFFF; text-decoration : underline; } a:visited { color : #FFFFFF; text-decoration : underline; } a:hover { color : #FFFFFF; font-weight : bold; text-decoration : underline; } From what I've read this should setup a default style for all links to follow, as well as define an alternate link style for anything in the menu class. So when I use the following code: <div class="menu"><I>01</I> <a href="">HOME</a></div> .. I would have thought the link would follow the style for .menu But it doesn't. It takes the style of the default links as well. How do I properly setup an alternate link style?? I am looking for a way to implement CSS styles on DropDownList ListItems. In HTML it's pretty easy: PHP Code: <select> <option class="red" value= "Yes">Option 1</option> <option class="pink" value= "No">Option 2</option> </select> But in ASP.NET-VB I'm hitting a snag. PHP Code: <asp:dropdownlist id="ddlList" runat="server" Width="180px"> <asp:ListItem Value="Yes" class="red">Option1</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="No" class="pink">Option2</asp:ListItem></asp:dropdownlist> That code doesn't work. When compiled, it totally deletes the "class" attribute. Any thoughts? I have a header.inc and a css style sheet that are called to each page of a website via php. In the style sheet there are two styles that I would like to change depending on the section of the website. For example: in the style sheet css id "subnav" has background: #E8EDF5 and cssi id "subtitle" has background #E8EDF5 however in each major section of the website I would like to change the background colors of the divs that have id "subnav" and "subtitle". Is there type of php statement that I could place at the top of my website pages that would allow me to specify the colors of these two css ids? Hope I have made this clear. Hi folks. I am in the process of creating a feature in our Web application to allow users to create and manage a set of simple HTML email templates. At the bottom of my editor screen I show a preview of the formatted email (with the text and HTML entered into a textarea field). My problem is that when I output the preview to the Web page, it inherits all the styles from the parent page (for example an <h1> header has colors and special spacing, etc.). Is there a way to temporarily disable then re-enable the CSS styles defined in the header of the page so I can draw the "preview" with default browser CSS styles which will reflect more what an eMail program would look like? I am not sure if this can be done. If it could, it would be awesome and save me from having to code a special preview page or iFrame for the email template. Ok so what is the css substitute for the valign tag? Thanks! |
