CSS - Float Something Over Another Frame
My site has 3 frames, the top and bottom frames are 50px high and the middle frame has the main content, I can't change the code of the middle frame as it is someone else's site but I am wondering if I can make something "float" in the corner of that middle frame (ie bottom left).
I was thinking of putting my code on a separate page and making a iframe float but I don't know if this is possible. (the code outputs what I need floated so floating iframe seems like the logical choice to me...) Similar Tutorialssubject isn't too good anyhow.. i have 4 cells __ __ |1 | |2 | --- --- __ __ |3| |4 | --- --- 2 and 4 are said to float right, such that 1 and 3 define the height of the page.. but.. when the contents of 2 go LONGER than the contents of 1, number 4 doesn't float right properly.. instead this happens __ __ |1 | |2 | --- | | --- | | |4| --- --- __ |3| --- do you see that? 4 tries to float right, but since it's called underneath 1, and 2 is extended, floating right relative to the page doesn't make it ACTUALLY float right any thoughts that will render this properly? (namely that cells 1 and 3 will inherit the height of 2 and 4 somehow?) Hi There - Am converting another design from tables, working with a CMS (Drupal) and an existing CSS / table combination that I didn't write and have no choice about. Think of the header as having three sections. The top section has logo on the left, search box on the right. Rounded corners. I'm cool with that section. Then there's a space. Created a div for the space. Love the space. Problems with the space in IE. Will go into it later. Then there's the next section. Rounded corners. Contains the entire page. On the left is a pulldown menu, about 1 cm from the top. On the right is a tabbed menu. This menu has flexible height. It needs to be right up against the bottom with the menu below it. Call this section the tabbed menu section. Third section. Immediately below that is a bar menu like the one Apple's got. Looks like a metal bar with divisions. Call this primary links. ---------- First, the space between. In IE, when you roll over the bar menu, the space disappears. Won't come back. Initially, in the second section, floated the pulldown menu left and the tabbed menu right. That worked fine, except that the tabbed menu had a width of 100% and pushed up the pulldown menu so the section was too wide. When I put it to 65%, all hell broke loose with the bar menu in the third section below it and bits of it snuck up into the second section. If I left it alone, and left the tabbed menu at 100%, when I checked over its container with firebug, it said that it was being affected by the primary links. I figured that out also because the background for that container was a really weird color that I finally found in the background of the navigation id and changed to white. Primary was overlapping it so I couldn't see it with firebug. So after fiddling with several clearing methods, I gave up and decided to try a table. Table worked fine, and the second section looks good except that there's a one pixel space between the tabbed menu and the bar menu. --------- It is my greatest wish right now to be able to float the pulldown to the left, the tabbed menu to the right and have the primary links stay below. I wish I could get the space to work and I wish for a clear understanding of it all so I can then figure out where to put the corners. Anyone who can enlighten me on this would have my undying gratitude. I've been working on this all day and the deadline's tomorrow. This is my first try at css and i have been at it about a week on and off. I have tried to use examples from here and the o'reilly CSS cookbook. I want to create a two column row of pictures with a caption. I selected DIV as the tool (my css is below). The container DIV looks great. I want the div.float, however, to start a second row when a third picture is added and to continue thereafter with successive two column rows. Unfortunately, each of my rows contain only one picture. here is my css style sheet. I ran into a problem with my menu being on the left side of the screen in its own frame, when it expands it needs about twice as much space otherwise another frame on the right of this frame cuts off the text and buttons from the menu, (this frame is used to display documents inside of it.) Originally I did not think it would be a problem but I just realized that some of the documents need a lot of room horizontally do to images and descriptive frames being inside of the docs, thus causing the reader to have to keep scrolling from side to side in order to read the paragraphs. Is there some way to get the frame with the menu to adjust according to the size of the menu as the user mouses through it, or a way to make the menu float over the doc viewing frame as the user mouses through it and just make the menu frame big enough to fit the menu when it is not being used, or another alternative all together? Thanks for reading. For this issue I only use CSS (and HTML). I am trying to learn some CSS. I've got a 'traditional' setup of parts/pieces of a website. Like first there is a piece I call header with some header information and that thing. Then I've got some navigation piece/part on the left of the screen and the rest I use as content. So far no troubles. Now in the content part I use several pieces/boxes where I put some (selling)objects. Now I want that everything to happen in the content piece/area, so If I click at an object in the content area I wish to take some actions in that same content area, but then the whole content area. Also I'd like to refer everything I click in the navigation area to happen in the content area/piece. When you use frames, then you can make a different frame of the content area and you'll refer to it as being a target frame. Can I do this using CSS or am I missing something. Hello everyone. How do you make a div stay in one place, while allowing the rest of the page to be scrolled? For example, let's say I had a page with the menu at the top, horizontally centered. How would I make it so when you scroll down, that menu stays at the top? I have a DIV element in a menu system that pops up when you hover over the parent menu. Everything in the menu works fine, however I need to embeed the navigation including the menu into a frame where the menu sits flush with the bottom of the frame it's in and when you mouse over the parent element the DIV that pops up is hidden by the frame below it. Hello, I am trying to make the switch over to CSS positioning for my website design, but I am having some trouble with how my site is currently designed. I have a frames page that uses the main section for all my content and a footer section that basically contains a footer that I need to have at the bottom of my pages all the time. My question is whether there is a way to position a CSS layer to do what that bottom frame is doing for me? It needs to be achored to the bottom of the screen and be there all the time. The platform is built in a frameset, and I would like to use my in-line styles to target an element in a different frame. I can find information about the "target" frameset name, frame name, element class etc, but don't have the option to change any of the markup here. Is this possible? Hi guys, I've this two frame page there the top frame is a static header and the main frame is the content holder. I've an drop list in the top frame but it exceeds the length of the frame and part of it becomes inaccessible. What I would like to know is if is possible to make that element to show up above the frameset, that is, it would start on the top frame but it would show the rest of the menu above the main frame, something like having a higher z-index than the frameset. I want to have no frame borders visible but I can't for the life of me get the correct syntax. I can make the frames seamless using inline commands like frameborder="no" Border="0" and framespacing="0" but I'd like to put these into a css. I'm playing with some stylesheets which are using css to mimic a framed left sided menu. The div for the menu should be static and the div for the remainder of the content scrolls if required... All worked as required until I integrated a form which I built at formassembly.com , and now, in IE6, the form won't scroll within the main div.
