CSS - Menu In Ie7 Displaying Wrong Help!
Hey all. I am having the hardest time trying to figure this one out. I have the menu working correctly in Firefox and Safari but its acting up a little in IE7. After a couple of hours of trying to figure this one out I figured I definitely need another eye or two to look it over. I think the problem is minor but then again I don't know. If you click here and view it in IE7 and then visit one of the links in the menu you will see what I am talking about. If one of the links have been visited and you hover over it the left part of the image does not display at all. ANY help at all would be so GREATLY APPRECIATED!
here is the code for the menu. Code: div#logoSlim .navigationSlim { position: relative; top: 5px; left: 75px; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim ul{ list-style:none; margin:0 auto; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim ul li{ float:left; list-style:none; margin-left: 2px; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim ul li a, div#logoSlim .navigationSlim ul li a:visited { height: 19px; float:left; display:block; color:#fff; text-decoration:none; text-transform: uppercase; font: bold 12px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; background: bottom; font-weight:bold; padding:0px 0 10px 11px; text-align:center; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li a , div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li a:visited { float:left; display:block; padding: 6px 10px 10px 1px; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li a span, div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li a:visited span{ float:left; display:block; padding: 6px 10px 10px 1px; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li.current a { color:#fff; background: url(../images/nav_slim_left.gif) no-repeat left 5px; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li.current a:visited { color:#fff; background: url(../images/nav_slim_left.gif) no-repeat left 5px; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li.current a span { color:#fff; background: url(../images/nav_slim_right.gif) no-repeat right 5px; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li a:visited { color:#fff; background: url(../images/nav_slim_left.gif) no-repeat left 5px; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li a:hover { color:#fff; background: url(../images/nav_slim_left.gif) no-repeat left 5px; } div#logoSlim .navigationSlim li a:hover span { color:#fff; background: url(../images/nav_slim_right.gif) no-repeat right 5px; } Similar Tutorialshey all, i am working on new site but it is displaying wrong in IE (surprise surprise). i have been playing around to see if i can get it sorted but am not having any luck, if anyone can offer an idea that would be appreciated. here is the CSS Code: and here is how it is being used in the html Code:

?

contact us

about globalhotel

my account

hotels

Lorem ipsum, dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat. The link Hover over "For Professionals" in the left hand navigation to see the problem. I am new to javascript. This is a menu created by DMAPI menu builder. I am not new to CSS. I suspect that this is a CSS problem. In Firebug I can see padding and margins but cannot find where they are being defined. I have tried to add margin: 0; and padding: 0; but they are getting overridden. Any help would be appreciated. Hi, I've just spent all night re-building my site as HTML and CSS, since my Joomla site was suffering from a slight case of death due to "hosting issues" during a plaform migration I've got the site looking and working sweet, apart from one small thing. In Netscape 8.1 which I currently have installed, it loads the content in the right of the design right down at the bottom of the screen. When you refresh the browser it jumps back to the top, and it works perfectly for all links !!! It displays superbly in IE all of the time. I've been through the CSS checking that I'm using the clear and float in the right places, and I've checked the actual widths of all of the elements to be sure that they add up to what they are supposed to, but somehow it's still only displaying properly in Netscape after a page refresh. I've put in all of the box model hacks in my code for old browsers. The only thing that stops this from happening is removing the tag "display:table;" in my CSS. But that's used to extend the faux columns down to the bottom of the screen in Netscape. I'm not keen on any of the hacks for extending columns, so I decided on faux columns. The thing is, if it is that tag that's causing it to display incorrectly, why is it having no effect when the page gets reloaded? Try for yourself. Click a link in the menu a few times, then click the refresh button a few times. You will see the content load incorrectly, and then correctly! Puzzling. http://www.acecards.com Code: body { background-color: #999999; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 10px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; } #container { width: 750px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 770px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 750px; /* For good browsers */ border: 1px solid gray; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding: 10px; background-color: #000000; } #banner { width: 750px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 750px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 750px; /* For good browsers */ height: 251px; background-repeat: no-repeat; clear: both; } #mainarea { clear: both; width: 750px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 750px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 750px; /* For good browsers */ background: url(images/fauxcolumns.gif) repeat-y; display: table; } #sidebar { width: 179px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 179px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 179px; /* For good browsers */ background-color: #993300; float: left; } #content { margin-top: 0px; float: right; background-color: #FFFFFF; width: 570px; /*For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 570px; /*For IE5/Win*/ w\idth: 570px; /*For good browsers */ } #footer { width: 740px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 750px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 740px; /* For good browsers */ padding: 5px; clear: both; } .FooterText { font-family: Verdana; color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 10px; text-align: right; } .Bodytext { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 11px; line-height: 17px; text-align: justify; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px; } .Bodylink { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #499EEE; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17px; font-weight: bold; text-align: left; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px; } .Bodyhighlight { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #993300; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17px; font-weight: bold; text-align: left; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px; } .SideBarBanner { font-size: 10px; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-align: center; line-height:inherit; padding-top: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px; } .SideBarLink { font-size: 10px; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } .SideBarHeadingTop { background-color: #FF9B6A; height: auto; width: 169px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 179px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 169px; /* For good browsers */ padding: 5px; color: #000000; text-align: center; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; border-bottom:thin solid; border-bottom-color:#D74600; } .SideBarHeading { background-color: #FF9B6A; height: auto; width: 169px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 179px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 169px; /* For good browsers */ padding: 5px; color: #000000; text-align: center; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; border-top:thick solid; border-top-color:#000000; border-bottom:thin solid; border-bottom-color:#D74600; } .SideBarMenuBlock { background-image: url(images/button.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; height: 26px; margin-top: 4px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 20px; margin-left: 9px; margin-right: 9px; width: 159px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 179px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 159px; /* For good browsers */ text-align: left; vertical-align: middle; color: #000000; font-size: 11px; font-weight: bold; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } a:link { color: #000000; text-decoration: none; } a:visited { color: #000000; text-decoration: none; } a:hover { color: #000000; text-decoration: underline; } a:active { color: #000000; text-decoration: underline; } .Heading { width: 520px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 570px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 520px; /* For good browsers */ padding-left: 40px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 15px; padding-bottom: 10px; background-image: url(images/aceofspades.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-color: #FFFFFF; color: #000000; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: left; vertical-align: top; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } img { border: none; } This is the second time I've used Spriting in a menu. Hi all, This is the xHTML link This is the CSS file. Please open this in Internet Explorer. Notice that when the drop-down menu falls over the drop-down list form, it gets hidden beneath the list. I've spent a whole week trying to fix this but wasn't successful This works perfectly in Firefox though. Thanks!! 1. top and bottom images are collapsing, i cant get them to display correctly without filling the html with either breaks or text 2. I cant get the images submenuedivider and submenuemarker to display simultaneously when i hover the links in the list. 3. Right now my soltuion to not display the divider image below the last element in the list is through the code:
SOmething

However, this also causes the mrker to not be seen above the list element as well, which isn't exactly what I wanted to happen, so what do I do? I'm stuck The CSS: Code: .leftCol { width: 190px; margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 10px; float: left; } .leftCol body {font-size:100%; color: #FFF;} .leftCol h1 {font-size:1.1em; font-weight:bold; color: #FFF;} .leftCol h2 {font-size:1.0em; color: #FFF;} .leftCol h3 {font-size:1.0em; color: #FFF;} .leftCol p {font-size:0.875em color: #FFF;} .submenue { width: 188px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; float: left; background-image: url(images/submenue/submenuefiller.jpg); background-repeat: repeat-y; text-indent:25px; } .submenue ul {list-style-type: none; margin: auto;} .submenue ul a {padding-bottom: 10px; background: url(images/Submenue/submenuedivider.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: bottom; display: block; line-height: 25px; text-decoration: none; font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans", Arial, sans-serif; color: #FFF;} .submenue ul a:hover {background-image: url(images/Submenue/submenuemarker.jpg);} .submenuetop { width: 188px; hight: 54px; padding-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; background-image: url(images/Submenue/top.jpg); background-size: 100%; background-repeat: no-repeat; margin: 0; float: left; } .submenuebottom { width: 188px; hight: 60px; background-image: url(images/Submenue/bottom.jpg); background-position: left top; background-repeat: no-repeat; margin-top: 54; float: left; } The HTML: Code:

something

Listing

1

2

5

Produkt

1

2

something

Following sample is from http://www.code-couch.com/jeff/snippets/general/tektips-navigation-example.html is what I am trying to reference to create a template. But how do I how keep the state of Menu on each requested page any help is appreciated. The following menu is saved in a separate jsp file i.e. navs.jsp. I include this navigation jsp file in all of my files. Initially the drop down looks like: Code: . Ask.Jeeves . [+] Google.com . [+] Yahoo.com Now clicking [+] in front of Google.com will look like. Code: . Ask.Jeeves . [-] Google.com . Google.co.ie . Google.co.ie . [+] Google.co.nz . [+] Yahoo.com Lets's say now if I click on Google.co.ie it takes me to sample.jsp and on this requested page (sample.jsp) how can I show the following menu hierarchy with Google.co.ie bold/underlined/colorchanged showing what menu content I clicked and am viewing the appropriate content i.e. Code: . Ask.Jeeves . [-] Google.com . Google.co.ie . Google.co.ie . [+] Google.co.nz . [+] Yahoo.com Same way clicking Google.com or Yahoo.com or Ask.Jeeves shows you the following hierarchy on the requested page with higlight/bold/colored the link we just selected. i.e. Code: . Ask.Jeeves . [+] Google.com . [+] Yahoo.com Any time clicking on the menu takes me to some page but on that page I want to show th hierarchy of the menu all the way to which is recently clicked with different color setting. With the website lady gone on a trip around the world for a year, I ended up being the person to attempt to modify our side menu to show an additional column of subcategories. I tinkered around with the code we had and I managed to get this to work in Firefox, however in IE7 the contents of the menu shift down a few pixels when you hover over a category. To view my problem, go to scannerparts.biz I've messed around with this for a few days and everything has become a big confusing mess so I have no choice but give in and ask for help. In IE it's almost there, except that the submenus will only appear one level deep. The menu is created with nested lists. The :hover functionality is simulated via JavaScript for IE 6. The IE developer toolbar shows the 3rd level menu is correctly being changed to display: block when its parent is hovered, and the border the dev toolbar draws even puts it in the correct place, it just doesn't actually appear. You can find the page he http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/ The CSS and JS (uses jQuery) can be found he http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/css/screen.css http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/css/ie.css (loaded with a conditional comment) http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/js/tdps.js http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/js/ie.js (loaded with a conditonal comment) For a specific example of what I'm talking about, try hovering over the second item, Filters & Parts. This will give you another level with four choices. Each of those also has child elements, but when hovered over, the next level doesn't appear. Try it in something other than IE 6 or 7 to see how it's supposed to look. Thanks very much in advance! I'm helping these fine folks fix a few little issues with their site but this one I can't seem to quite figure out. If you roll over the main menu you will see the sub menu slide down on the left. For the life of me I can't get it to line up under the main nav. I've tried many, many things. Can anyone provide a few hints, tips, suggestions? Anyway I found this vertical menu that works the way I want it. But I also need a horizontal version of it with dropdown submenus. Can someone help with this? I have been trying a bunch of things but it just looks awful and doesn't work right. It has 3 basic componets; Html, Javascript, and css. Here they are below. drop_down.js: Code: // JavaScript Document startList = function() { if (document.all&&document.getElementById) { navRoot = document.getElementById("nav"); for (i=0; i<navRoot.childNodes.length; i++) { node = navRoot.childNodes[i]; if (node.nodeName=="LI") { node.onmouseover=function() { this.className+=" over"; } node.onmouseout=function() { this.className=this.className.replace(" over", ""); } } } } } window.onload=startList; HTML: Code:

Horizontal Drop Down Menus

Home

About

History

Team

Offices

Services

Web Design

Internet Marketing

Hosting

Domain Names

Broadband

Contact Us

United Kingdom

France

USA

Australia

Style2.CSS: Code: body { font: normal 11px verdana; } ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style: none; width: 150px; /* Width of Menu Items */ border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; } ul li { position: relative; } li ul { position: absolute; left: 149px; /* Set 1px less than menu width */ top: 0; display: none; } /* Styles for Menu Items */ ul li a { display: block; text-decoration: none; color: #777; background: #fff; /* IE6 Bug */ padding: 5px; border: 1px solid #ccc; border-bottom: 0; } /* Fix IE. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a template I've been working with (struggling with). It has a style sheet attached to it and I'm trying to replace the main, static menu with a drop down Spry Menu. I've managed to get most of it figured out but my dropdowns aren't colored correctly. The Spry Menu isn't centered on the page. The menu titles are spread out too far also (ie. it's suppose to be "About Me" but the "Me" is way below the "About"). I'm guessing it's probably an easy fix for you all but I've been playing with it all day without a lot of progress. Thank you. Let me know if I should post links. I'm using the suggestions of those on here and using the http://www.dynamicsitesolutions.com...2/#relatedLinks menu (I'm a little confused over what the differences are but that's the least of my problems) What I want is a 2nd level drop down menu, but I'm clueless on how to go about it..??? I working on a CSS to display a round-shouldered-tab menu. My result is acceptable: http://rickduley.webs.com/roundShoulderTabMenu.jpg except for the fact that the tabs are set below the menuBar on which the are supposed to display. I have run out of ideas. Would someone please set me on the right path? Thanks. P.S.: the code is at http://rickduley.webs.com/roundShoulderTabMenu.zip.kgb - you have to delete the 'dot key gee bee' suffix. Hi be gentle with me im new I am trying to put a backgroung image in my div the code i have used is below, in my styles file i have .backgroundbox { background-attachment: fixed; background-image: url(backpat1.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position:top; height:600px; width:900px; position:relative; background-position: top left; top: 0px; left:0px;} and in the body i have <div class="biggestcolumn" "backpat1" align="center"> if someone could please tell me what ive done wrong. |
