CSS - Probelm With Template Affects Ff Only - Wordpress
Similar TutorialsI tried a bunch of stuff to fix this. I only removed the sidebar from the pages, not the blog. This is how the footer is SUPPOSED to look: http://www.regionalcreations.com/fotografix/?page_id=4 This is how it looks on the pages: http://www.regionalcreations.com/fotografix/ For some reason the footer is up inside the body. Help? All I did was comment out the sidebar like this: Code: <!-- </div class="art-sidebar1"> <?php include (TEMPLATEPATH . '/sidebar1.php'); ?> </div> --> And copy the css for the width and change the name and values: Code: .page-contentLayout .page-content { position: relative; margin: 0; padding: 0; border: 0; float: left; overflow: hidden; width: 876px; } .page-contentLayout .page-content-wide { position: relative; margin: 0; padding: 0; border: 0; float: left; overflow: hidden; width: 875px; } Hi... I'm trying to make a div that is exact in its dimensions. So for example... PHP Code: // the style definition .test { background-color: #cccccc; width: 100px; height: 20px; padding-left: 20px; } // the body of the html document <div class="test">My test</div> Now with this style definition, I would expect that the size of the div box will be the same even if I commented out the padding-left line... because that is just padding, not the width! But amazingly enough, the padding adds to the width of the box. And in order to get the width of the box back to 100px, I have to subtract the padding from the width... so that I would have to change width to 80px in order for the box to still be 100px wide. Any ideas why this is the case? It seems very counterintuitive to me and I know that I can always change the width to make it look right again, but it feels wrong and it very sloppy. Is there an elegant way to do this? Thanks Hi, Ive been using images for the navigation but really should be using css so have tried to code it but am having a few problems. If you look at this page you will see how the navigation should look, then if you look at this page you will see my css attempt, i'm only doing the sub nav (#navigation2) for now... Any ideas where im going wrong? Thanks, Mike I'm using wordpress 2.9 and I installed a plugin called wp-polls the problem is that the Y in Yes and N in No on the poll won't show up in IE. the url is mcs.assistui.net How do you fix this? Here is the blog page: wavgirl.com/blog If you open it in firefox or other browsers, it works fine. The menu at the top is on all pages on my site (via a php include). All pages also are linked to a main stylesheet for my website. Everything works in internet explorer EXCEPT that blog page (if you go to the main page of my site in IE, it loads fine). This has led me to conclude that there is something specifically in the blog's style sheet that doesn't work in IE. When you load the blog page in IE, the page is thrown off center, and the menu dropdown does not work anymore. Can someone simply look at this stylesheet and tell me how to correct it for internet explorer? As I said, all of this loads fine in other browsers, and the menu works on all other pages of the site in any browser. Any help would be appreciated, and I apologize if I posted this in the wrong place. I need it to support and have room for a lot of text and am not interested in several columns. A dropdown menu would be ideal. I was wondering if someone could give me a hand on a CSS problem I am having. This is for my personal site that my wife and I use to update people on our lives. I have the page at a temporary location right now as I am moving the site between servers. Anyhow, I am working with WordPress and redoing the stylesheet. I am about half way done and am having a very strange problem. You can view the page here. The CSS is located below: Code: body, html { margin: 0; padding: 0; font: 10pt/15pt arial; background: #800000 url(images/topback.jpg) repeat-x top; text-align: center; } hr,h1,.description { display: none; } h2 { margin: 0; padding: 0; } #page { width: 843px; text-align: left; background: url(images/mainback.jpg) repeat-y; } #header { background: url(images/header.jpg) no-repeat; height: 275px; } #content { float: left; width: 300px; padding-left: 100px; } #sidebar { float: left; width: 200px; font-size: 8.5pt; } #sidebar li { list-style-type: none; } #footer { clear: both; } Here's the problem. In IE the width of the 'content' div is 509 pixels as can be seen by the red border (put in there to show the borders of the div). I am not defining the width to be 509 pixels, it is just defaulting to that width. You need to look at the page in IE...in Firefox it works fine. Hey Guys, I hope this is in the right forum. I've purchased a wordpress theme and it contains a video background using JWPlayer. Part of the JWPlayer functionality is that it allows play/pause control when hovering over the video and a "hover hand" replaces the regular cursor. I'd like the cursor to stay the same at all times, and remove the ability to play/pause the video. So it's essentially just a regular looking background that's a video. I've done some searching online and it appears this is possible by placing a transparent div frame over the entire page with a cooresponding z index. Seems easy enough, but I'm not very familiar with CSS and the more I look online for the best way to go about this, the more confused and lost I'm getting. Can anybody shed some light on the best way to go about this? Certainly it must be quite straightforward? I'm trying to edit a free Wordpress theme called "Imprezz 1.3" so that the date of each post is displayed about 20 pixels more to the left. Here's a picture of what I'm going for: i.imgur.com/l2EyM.png I've tried to mess with positioning and z-index in the stylesheet for .postTime, .postDay & .postEra without much success (I get the div to move but the part that's supposed to be 'sticking out' of the page doesn't show). Any help would be much appreciated! Thx I have a pretty awesome looking wordpress theme. I was wondering if someone could guide me through making a small change to it though! Firstly, here is the page now: theangrywalrus.com/blog What I would like to do, is take the black bar at the top and stretch it so it goes under the title of my site, and ends near where the 'content' starts. Then I'd like to move the gradient bg image down so it starts under where the black bar ends. So far, using the firefox web dev plugin, I've only been able to get the black bar/gradient working in one part of the page, where the content is. How can I get it to be how I want it? Could someone show me how to get this done please? I'd really appreciate some help. My style sheet is he theangrywalrus.com/blog/wp-content/themes/simpla/style.css I know this probably has a really simple answer but how do I make it so the sidebar is on the right side of the content box on a WordPress theme? Here is what it looks like right now: http://reptilenewsstation.1sthoster.com/ The sidebar is below the content box and I want it to be on the right side of the content box. I know the theme sucks right now but this is my first WordPress theme and I want to set everything up in the correct places before I start getting into really styling it. Someone just pointed this out on a site I'm working on. Any help would be appreciated. collettforcongress/com Works in Firefox (of course), doesn't work in IE8. Let the slider move one slide (the featured story box). Help! I bought a template that is supposed to be easily manipulated, but I am stuck... Can anybody offer some help on a couple files? I have emailed requesting support now a couple times with no response. I am trying to change the script so there is no white space for text an just have white text over the same grey/black background on my index page? I would like it to match the front page with the faded grey to black background and the text boxes black with white text My front page is rotating pictures as a slideshow can they be clickable and serve as a navigation to my gallery? If you are willing to help please let me know! Thanks so much! New to css.... Hi, just to explain I know absolutely nothing about css. I can barely manage to change fonts, so please be gentle with me. I am quite capable of following straight forward instructions though so if you can help it would be much appreciated. I have a website (URL address blocked: PM me to get URL)/joomla that I'm playing with. The submenu's are where I have an issue - they appear exactly as I want when a menu item is selected (indented and normal font weight) however when a sub menu item is selected the indent dissappears and it treats it like a main menu item. Below is the code where I think the issue is. I've been googling like mad to see if anyone else has the same problem with this particular template but no joy. On a seperate note if there are any joomla template experts out there I would be happy to pay a reasonable fee to make some other modifications (basically the padding and position of the main column is all over the place dependent on the content that is displayed). I'd also like to upgrade this to joomla 1.6 at some stage. Enquired with a couple of "professional" Joomla developers and recieved no reply. I assume my requirements are too small for them to consider, and that they are just too rude to reply to say so. /*LEFT COL LINK*/ #leftcolumn ul.menu li a, #leftcolumn ul.menu li a:link, #rightcolumn ul.menu li a, #rightcolumn ul.menu li a:link { line-height: 18px; padding: 0 0 0 8px; text-decoration: none; font-size: 11px; background: url(../images/menu_row.jpg) center left no-repeat; margin: 0; height: 18px; color: #666666; font-weight: bold; } #leftcolumn ul.menu li a:hover, #rightcolumn ul.menu li a:hover { color: #4CAFC6; text-decoration: none; } /*LEFT COL CURRENT LINK*/ #leftcolumn ul.menu li#current a, #leftcolumn ul.menu li#current a:link, #rightcolumn ul.menu li#current a, #rightcolumn ul.menu li#current a:link { line-height: 18px; padding: 0 0 0 8px; text-decoration: none; color: #666666; font-weight: bold; font-size: 11px; background: url(../images/menu_row.jpg) center left no-repeat; margin: 0; height: 18px; } #leftcolumn ul.menu li#current a:hover, #rightcolumn ul.menu li#current a:hover { color: #4CAFC6; text-decoration: none; } /*LEFT COL SUB LINK*/ #leftcolumn ul.menu li#current ul li a, #leftcolumn ul.menu li#current ul li a:link { text-decoration: none; color: #666; margin: 0 0 0 6px; font-size: 11px; background: url(../images/submenu_row.jpg) center left no-repeat; font-weight: normal; display: block; line-height: 18px; padding: 0 0 0 18px; border: none; height: 18px; } #leftcolumn ul.menu li ul li#current a, #leftcolumn ul.menu li ul li#current a:link, #leftcolumn ul.menu li ul li#current a:visited, #leftcolumn ul.menu li ul li#current a:hover { font-size: 11px; margin: 0 0 0 6px; padding: 0 0 0 18px; text-decoration: none; border: none; color: #333; background: url(../images/submenu_row.jpg) center left no-repeat; height: 18px; line-height: 18px; } /*SUBMENU POSITION*/ #leftcolumn ul.menu li#current ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; } #leftcolumn ul.menu li#current ul li { margin: 0; padding: 0; } /*CURRENT SUBMENU POSITION*/ #leftcolumn ul.menu li ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; } #leftcolumn ul.menu li#current ul li a:hover { color: #333; } #leftcolumn ul.menu li ul, #rightcolumn ul.menu li ul { list-style: none; } Hi, I am creating a site (www dot 1913atc dot co dot uk) using a downloaded template. I want to increase the hight of the header, but I am having some trouble doing this so it does not affect the other parts of the top menu. Can someone please tell me how to go about increasing the height. Thanks Hello! My first post...but definitely not my last. I'm working on a new site and used a CSS template designed by someone else. My problem is I can't figure out how to change any of the width parameters without screwing up how the page looks. If anyone could help me with resizing the width that would be greatly appreciated. The web site is located at www.easyplateau.com. Thanks! daniel I am constructing my very first website using a freeCSS template..Embouteillage. When I upload it to my webhost (agilityhoster) everything appears to work OK..but the header colour and some of the graphic images don't apear. I've even uploaded the template without making any changes to the original..but the same result. Can anyone help me solve the riddle, Many thanks. Here is index.php code. <body> <!--<a name="top"></a>!--> <div id="container"> <div id="header"> header stuff goes he </div><!-- Header --> <div id="container2"> <div id="container3"> <div id="content"> main content </div> <div id="sidebarLT"> left side bar </div> </div> <div id="sidebarRT"> right side bar </div> </div> <div id="top_navlist"> top nav will go here</div> <div id="footer"> footer info will go here </div></div> </body> </html> Here is CSS: /* CSS Document */ body { margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 30px; backround-color: #FFFFFF; } #container { width: 850px; margin: 0 auto; margin-top: 20px; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #666666; backround-color: #fff border: 1px solid #333; } #container2 { width: 850px; margin: 0 auto; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.6em; color: #666666; border: 1px solid #ff00cc; } container3 { width: 635 px; float: left; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; line-height: 1.6em; color:#666666 border: 1px solid #ff00cc; } /*/ HEADER /*/ #header { width: 850px; height: 140px; border: 1px solid #ff6600; padding-left: 10px; padding-top: 10px; border: 1px solid #006600; float: right; } #content { width: 400px; padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 10px; border: 1px solid #006600; float: right; } /*/ NAVIGATION /*/ #top_navlist { top: 20px; width:850px; line-height:normal; clear:both; border:1px solid #000066; position: absolute; } /*/ RIGHT SIDEBAR /*/ #sidebarRT { float: right; width: 175px; padding-left: 21px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 10px; border: 1px solid #000066; } /*/ LEFT SIDEBAR /*/ #sidebarLT { float: left; width: 175px; padding-left: 21px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 10px; border: 1px solid #00ff66; } /*/ FOOTER /*/ #footer { margin-top: 15px; padding-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; clear: both; width: 850px; background-color:#FFF; border: 1px solid #ff0066; } The issue is that the main content is to the right of the sidebarRT. Other issue is that the top spot for navigation is set to the right and not aligned with the whole template. Hi, I'm having a little trouble positioning something on my header. Here's my site: http://ne-yofan.com/test/. I'd like to position the blog in the header to the left without divs. How would I? Also my header looks different in Firefox and Internet Explorer. How can I fix that? Please and thank you. |
