It seems that sometimes the drop-down menu disappears before the user has a chance to click one of the options. Anyone have a guess to how I can make it more stable? Hi all, The following CSS and HTML work fine in Mozilla, Netscape and Firefox. It can be viewed in action at: http://www.sirfragalot.com/wikindx2/ (choose the 'chocolate vanilla fudge sundae' from the Wikindx/preferences menu.) I have two questions: 1/ I'm aware that Konqueror does not support CSS drop-downs. It doesn't concern me as I've programmed a way around it. However, the menu items occasionally stack up vertically on the left side of the browser window: they're supposed to be horizontal. This stacking and subsequent un-stacking seems to be quite random. What's the fix? 2/ In IE, the drop-downs are rendered from the bottom right corner of the originating top menu item (they should be directly underneath). What is the fix? The only change I need to make is to have the right edge of the drop-down menu to align with the right edge of the parent menu. When you hover over the menu, it currently "drops" down and to the right, with the left edges aligned. I want the menu to "drop" down and to the left, so the right edges are aligned. I have tried fiddling with floats and absolute/relative positioning. I'm not sure what needs to be changed. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated! I'm learning via "cut and paste", so please go easy on any terminology you may use. Thank you! Here is the page: http://www.littlebuddymedia.com/site05/012.html The menu currently drops like this (aligned along the left edge): http://www.justskins.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/drop-down-menu.gif I want the menu to do this (align along the right edge; see how "Artists" is aligned under "Music" along the right edge): http://artatm.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/mtvmenu.JPG Here is my code: Code: .chromestyle{ width: 100%; font-weight: bold; float: left; height: 29px; } .chromestyle:after{ /*Add margin between menu and rest of content in Firefox*/ content: "."; display: block; height: 0; clear: both; visibility: hidden; } .chromestyle ul{ border: 0px solid #BBB; width: 100%; background: url(chromebg.gif) center center repeat-x; /*THEME CHANGE HERE*/ padding: 4px 0; margin: 0; text-align: right; /*set value to "left", "center", or "right"*/ } .chromestyle ul li{ display: inline; } .chromestyle ul li a{ color: #000000; padding: 4px 7px; margin: 0; text-decoration: none; border-left: 1px solid #DADADA; } .chromestyle ul li a:hover, .chromestyle ul li a.selected{ /*script dynamically adds a class of "selected" to the current active menu item*/ background: url(chromebg-over.gif) center center repeat-x; /*THEME CHANGE HERE*/ } /* ######### Style for Drop Down Menu ######### */ .dropmenudiv{ position:absolute; top: 0; border: 1px solid #BBB; /*THEME CHANGE HERE*/ border-bottom-width: 0; font:normal 12px Verdana; line-height:18px; z-index:100; background-color: white; width: 200px; visibility: hidden; } .dropmenudiv a{ width: auto; display: block; text-indent: 3px; border-bottom: 1px solid #BBB; /*THEME CHANGE HERE*/ padding: 2px 5px; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold; color: black; } * html .dropmenudiv a{ /*IE only hack*/ width: 100%; } .dropmenudiv a:hover{ /*THEME CHANGE HERE*/ background-color: #0000ff; color: #fff200; } Hi, I have tested on various browsers and platforms. Unfortunately, my div does not appear in IE7. Here's the <div> code:: Code: <div id="mardiGras"> <a onclick="updateWithParty()" href="#"><img src="images/nav/MardiGras.gif" border="0"></a> </div> Here's the style sheet for the mardiGras <div> Code: #mardiGras{ position:absolute; z-index:999; top:331px; width:260px; height:221px; background-image:url(http://www.catskaraoke.com/images/nav/MardiGras.png); display:block; } I tried to use a gif instead of a png, but that didn't work. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? thanks I have a div that is positioned absolute at 88px from the top. In both IE6 and IE7 this comes out decently. However, in FF the div is being put at the top of the page. You can take a look at this he www.dvolve[REMOVE].org/ktt/ Any pointers on what's going on here? -DeV I'm trying to get my navigation to work, but I can't get it to work in IE. Works great in all other browsers. Look at this in firefox, chrome, safari: 0000qx5.previewcoxhosting.com/resources.php When you mouseover "resources" or "about us", a sub navigation bar appears. But not in IE 7 or 8. Does anyone have suggestions? Hi, I have a site that works fine on most computers, but the homepage needs to be refreshed in IE6 and 7. Unless you type in "index.php" after the domain name, you have to refresh the page to see all the content. I have the correct doctype, and I believe my code is clean. I posted about this weeks ago, resolved the problem, now the site is having similar issues. Here is the site:: http://www.catskaraoke.com Any advicde or suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks - Hey, I have a CSS layout: http://kings.edux.co.uk/fix2.php And this is my CSS doent: http://kings.edux.co.uk/css/style.css If you look at the source-code there is a div with the 'footer' class at the bottom, but I can't get it to show at the bottom on this page, possibly because the div above has a auto height attribute. But ideally I need the div at the bottom of the page and all divs above. Here is the 'footer' class: Code: #footer { margin: 0 auto; /* align for good browsers */ width:159px; margin-top: 0px; font-size:9px; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Geneva, Helvetica, sans-serif ; color: #333333; letter-spacing:1px; } I have tried a few things but nothing's working yet. Thanks for taking the time to read my question. I have an <ol> that shows up in FF but not IE7. I have no idea why. I've tried a bunch of different things in my css but none of them work. David good evening all, i am new here. tonight i tried to upload a web page that i had already made. i had already seen what it looked like, and the images were displaying just fine, but then when i uploaded the file and viewed it (from the website as opposed to from my hard drive)the images were not showing (except for the first one which was just a test). i don't know why there should be a difference, since the file is exactly the same. any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you. |
