CSS - Seperate Hyperlink Classes?
I've got my normal navigation links styled using the standard a:link, a:hover etc etc.
I want to include an image on one of my pages which links to a download, because the style applies to all 'a hrefs' the properties for my text links are assigned to the image (for instance a border is given). Is there a way to assign a different class to the image hyperlinks? Cheers. Similar TutorialsIm trying to figure out the best way to do this. Im running Wordpress with a CSS themed template, but Im running into a problem. Im posting little examples of menus/layouts that require a different CSS file to display correctly. I tried just adding the new bits to the main CSS file, but there is some overlap of some part and it changes it from whatd it look like on a page of its own. How can I post something into a page but still have its own style? I'm trying to tile a background image horizontally with a vertically tiled background image centered on the page. Being new to css and not particularly fluent in html (although more so than css), I have no idea how to go about doing this or if it is even possible. I do have both images working separately though. Help would be appreciated. -alexa Ok what i have been asked to do is set up a webpage with three divisions ( i think), in a column structure. Title at top then seperate divisions? for each of my books which will be getting added. Now the books should be contained as the book title, author, publisher etc with an image to the right of all this information. However the author, title and publisher have all different formats, the author should be bold, the title in italics etc etc. I am finding it difficult to know what tag to use to split up this information. Just now i have created a <div> section labelled book1 for the first book. How do you go about splitting up the txt within this division tag as i will be writing a CSS sheet to manipulate the author, title and publisher with all different formats. The main LI is horizontal, and the containing UL, LI is a vertical dropdown. The seperate CSS file does the image replacements on the <a> and hides the text within the <span>, usual stuff. The nav works great, with the graphic rollovers etc. The rollover, again, standard way of doing it, background: url(<FILE>) no-repeat top left; and the a:hover rollover is a background: bottom left;. Edit: Just noticed that I can't link to the full site that I have uploaded for preview. What I want to do, is when the user roll's over any of the items within the sub-navigation, it keeps the main Services navigation link rolled over also. The only way I could think of doing this, and relatively simply, would be to use JavaScript, but wanted to explore any other CSS ways of doing this. For example, is it possible to change a style of another class, from another? Your help would be much appreciated! I've been trying to clean up my code and in the past I never seemed to make use of predefined html element tags like the H1-H6...and instead I just find that I just make a new class but I was wondering if there is anything wrong with using the H-tags in place of a few classes? Obviously it would have to make logical sense to use, but I'm wondering if there has been any changes in how browsers use those tags in the past few years as I wouldn't want to be using an outdated, soon to be phased out element. ok here is the question. i have done two websites, i have tested them out in multiple browsers and all seemed fine. When i test them in IE the text runs into to image. I am using div classes to control the image. Any insight on why this is happening would be greatly appreciated and hints or solutions would be more then welcomed. I am banging my head against a will trying to figure this out. Then it works fine, but if i use the class ".trans" instead, it doesnt. Im looking for a way to use a style more than once on a page and classes are the only way i know how to do it. Any help? I have a series of image buttons with rollovers that are generated in CSS so I've applied a class to each like this: <a class="homebutton" title="Home" href="#">This is the Home Button</a> This works great but I now would like to apply a second class to the href that calls an animated scroll function from a javascript file. I've tested the function on a simple button and it worked perfect: <a href="#divtwo" class="scroll">Scroll Down</a> What I would like to do is essentially combine the two so that it would be something like: <a class="homebutton" title="Home" href="#divtwo" class="scroll">This is the Home Button</a> But when I do that it ignores the "scroll" class and simply jumps to the #divtwo location on the page without the animation. Ideas on how to have two classes on one button? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I am very confused how best to define my style sheet for a given goal. Here is what I need to do: I need to have various styles of tables. Some whose text is centered (like the table header), some whose text is left justified. I need to be able to define link colors for each different type of table (i.e. a.link, a.active, etc). I just don't know how to proceed. It seems that I would do something like Code:

But then I don't know how to define the link colors. Would I have to do something like Code:

Isn't there a way I can create one selector that contains everything without having to have all these separate entries? Any help is vastly appreciated! Also, I am confused by the use of SPAN. Is this still used? Or is it best to specify the class in the element tag? thanks, brian Hello, I have 3 type of h2 headers on my web site: 1 - Post titles on a blog (Ex: <h2>New documents available for download</h2>) 2 - Content section title (Ex: <h2>Contacts</h2>) 3 - Sidebar content section title (Ex: <h2>Publicity</h2>) I am trying to build my CSS to style the 3 different headers but I am having some problems. I could use: h2.Post, h2.Content and h2.Sidebar or: h2 (for maybe Post? This would be the base), h2.Content and h2.Sidebar or even: h2 (for Post), h2.Content for content and then h2.Sidebar to change Content class so it fits Sidebar. So a section in sidebar would be: <h2 class = "Content Sidebar">Publicity</h2> Could someone help me in deciding how should I structure my classes? Thank You, Miguel |
