CSS - Finally Working In All Browsers But Doesn't Validate.
I've been searching this for about 4 hours today, and have yet to come across a good answer.
Right now my site looks fine in Firefox, IE6, IE7, and Opera. However, it does not validate because I'm using the _margin-top and .margin-top tricks to force the bottom line of links in IE. My site can be viewed at startdesigning.net (not allowed to post link because I new, I guess) and the css in question can be found at startdesigning.net/style.css - again, can't post a link. If anyone has any suggestions to validate without changing the appearance, I would love to hear them. The layout has some complex elements, but strangely the one thing that doesn't work is the background-color that I am setting using the "body" selector. It works great on Firefox and IE (imagine that!) but not on Safari or Chrome, which are Webkit-based. It is supposed to have a gray background, but those two browsers just show the default white. I'm using clearfix to make things work in IE7, but clearly there's some kind of other problem going on. Thanks for any help! The state titles are nice and bold on my mac browsers -- however, pc browsers won't make them bold. I've just started an IT degree and the first assignment is to create a web page about myself. (I'll post it here once it's up and running). We've got to use a separate as opposed to inline style sheet, and our pages must be validated as part of the assessment. I don't have any trouble validating my XHTML (strict) code but even the simplest style sheet (only a single command) get's rejected. CSS Validator Two lines of CSS won't validate because they are used to fix a navigation issues in IE. Without those two lines there is a huge height gap between each list element in IE. The CSS design on IE looks perfect, but same JSPs on FF gives a little bit of dull on colors (or fade) ... If you look at my web pages in Internet Explorer they look perfect. In Firefox when loading some of the pages the top logo blinks and takes a few seconds to load. Is there a list of things that FireFox can do and IE can't (plus other browsers) in CSS. It would be great if somewhere on the net there would be a list of these things so i could use it as a cross refferance. . At the mo i just use trial and error but th\at means spending hours to get designs just right Thanks |
