CSS - Ie/ff Issue With Table
I use
Code: .list_table { border: 1px solid #BDC2C6; border-collapse:collapse; } .list_table tr{ border: 1px solid #BDC2C6; border-collapse:collapse; } but TR borders registers only in FF, what's with the IE? Similar TutorialsPlease see here http://www.challengeyourdiet.com/te...etail.php?id=13 If you look at the table, you will see one of the borders toward the bottom of it slightly breaking. I cannot figure out for nothing what is causing this. Any ideas? Also, a different issue, if you shrink your browser and then scroll to the right you will see the text and things out of place. Is this a min-width issue? Thanks! Hello all, I'm a copywriter who's recently been forced into web design by my boss because of general tech savvy. I've replaced his old ugly website with a new, prettier one. I would post a url but it says I'm a new user and I can't - I don't know when that ban gets lifted. I did the layout with a table which I KNOW is incorrect and will make further development difficult, but my boss insisted and I don't feel too bad about it as this really isn't what I'm being paid for. (If he wants a correct, professionally designed website he can hire a professional web designer to do it correctly). However, there is one issue I'd like to fix, if I can. On the second, third and fourth pages (What Vehicles We Buy, FAQs, and Why Sell to Auto Buyer?) the table sizes incorrectly in IE 8 - but not in Firefox, Chrome or any phone I've been able to check it on. If you can open it in IE you should see what I'm talking about. Right off the bat, the navigation bar near the top is too low, and it gets worse the farther you get down the page. The images in the middle are way off. This is only the case on these three pages, all the site's other pages are fine. I'm at a loss on how to fix it. If I need to post the full code for you to see, I can do that but I don't want to clutter this post if it's not necessary. Here's the style codes for the background image and the table, respectively: #bg { vertical-align: top; width: 1601px; position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; } #Table_01 { vertical-align: top; width: 1601px; position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; } If anyone can see why I'm having a problem, I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance. Hello Dev Shed, I am having a problem aligning my tables inside thier respective column div's to the center. Here is the css sheet in question. Code: body { font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, helvetica, sans-serif; background:#FFF; margin:0; padding:0; } td { font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, helvetica, sans-serif; } th { font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, helvetica, sans-serif; } #container { margin-top:0px; padding-top:0px; width:1024px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; background:#FFF; } #header { width:1024px; height:100px; background:url(../images/headerbg.jpg); text-align:right; color:#bce9c3; font-weight:bold; } #header h1 { color:#FFF; margin:0; padding:0; font-size:xx-large; padding-top:10px; padding-right:5px; } #header p { margin:0; padding:0; padding-right:5px; } #content { width:1024px; background:#a3e1ad; } #leftcol { padding-top:10px; float:left; width:512px; background-color:#a3e1ad; text-align:center; } #rightcol { padding-top:10px; float:left; width:512px; background-color:#a3e1ad; text-align:center; } #content table { border-width:4px; border-spacing:0px; border-style:solid; border-color:#168cf7; border-collapse:collapse; } #content td.title { background-color:#FFF; } #content td.title p { color:#168cf7; font-weight:Bold; text-align:Center; } Even though both leftcol and rightcol have text-align set to center, they're still both aligning to the left. Any help would greatly be apprieciated. Thanks in advance. http://www.gaminghybrid.com/cms_design/ I would like to get the top tab table (#top-tabs) and the sub tabs (#sub-tabs) centered, instead of the semi-left alignment they are in. What is the best way to go about it? (I've tried <center> and text-align:center) Also, as you can see in FireFox, the bottom bite doesn't go to the bottom of the other two content bits, but it does in IE. Any help is appreciate using css i've got a table in a div: e.g. div padding: 20px table width: 540px border: 10px solid red; result: the div including it's own padding should be 600px wide but using the html strict dtd ie is in strict mode (confirmed by other measurements) the whole width of the table is 540px including the borders. also setting box-sizing to contents . thoughts? I'm having some issues with getting a table border to appear in both Mozilla and IE. I had it working at one point but now it's stopped working in IE. Basicly this is the code to control it: border:1px solid #0; but IE doesn't read it, I've checked the rest of the CSS to see if there is any conflicts but found none. Anyone know how to get the table border to appear in both IE and Mozilla? Something like this gives real thick and uneven borders, is it possible to make the borders combine and become one single border when they are next to each other? I don't want to use seperate border-top border-left etc ... Thank you. WHAT IS THE TYPICAL CSS PROBLEM FOR THIS ISSUE? w w w. jaywayproductions . c o m/portfolio/work_history.html It suppose to look the way it looks in IE. It is a little off in Firefox. I have been try'n several things to solve this particular issue but cannot. It seems as if the bottom and top row stretches and makes the effect I was trying to accomplish look off in FF. You can understand what I'm sayin' when you view both. Does anyone know why it is doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hello I am having difficulties with a site I am working on. First, if you look at it in IE and roll your mouse to the right of the site the whole thing shifts to the left. No idea why it does this. Second: In Firefox it looks like a disaster! Help! http://www.tombraiders.net/katie/shelly/index.html User: letme Pass: in Thank you! Hi everyone, For years I've been using tables solely to position elements on web pages but it's come to my attention that this is now "frowned" upon in the web community so I figured if I'm going to start doing things the more common way (with DIVs) I might as well start now. I'm not a professional website developer (C programmer here...eek! haha), but I do part time web work for some important clients of mine. So I have a very simple layout done with DIVs/CSS to start (code at the bottom). The problem is when you render it you'll see a large gap between the bottom of the layout and bottom of the page. My hypothesis is that this is due to where the "DIVs" would normally have been, except I moved them around. It sounds very similar to the problem encountered he http://forums.devshed.com/css-help-116/how-to-remove-blank-space-at-bottom-554773.html but I don't see what he did to solve it. Note that ultimately what I want is only the "header" and "footer" to have a fixed width/height. The leftcol and content should have fixed widths, but height grow with what ever is in them. And it should be centered in the page the way it is now. I tried various "text-wrap" and "height: 100%" and a few different codes but no luck. I really don't want to have to give up on DIV's but I am finding them a tad frustrating . I've altered the code from here (http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/Web-Style-Sheets/DIV-Based-Layout-with-CSS/3/). I tried "floating" them but that didn't seem to help either or is messes up my centering, plus I don't want it expanding to different resolutions. Thanks in advance if you can give a DIV newbie a heads up. Code: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>TWO-COLUM FIXED LAYOUT WITH FIXED BOXES</title> <style type="text/css"> <!-- #header { background: #0f0; position: relative; z-index: 1; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 800px; height: 100px; } #leftcol { background: #f00; position: relative; z-index: 2; top: 0px; left: -325px; width: 150px; height: 600px; } #content { background: #ff0; position: relative; z-index: 3; top: -600px; left: 75px; width: 650px; height: 600px; } #footer { background: #0f0; position: relative; z-index: 4; top: -600px; left: 0px; width: 800px; height: 100px; } --> </style> </head> <body style="margin: 0pt;"> <div align="center"> <div id="header">Header Section</div> <div id="leftcol">Left Section <p align="left"> Test </p> </div> <div id="content">Content Section</div> <div id="footer">Footer Section</div> </div> </body> </html> Hello Guys, I am trying to get the the css to work but having a hard time with it and need some help.. Thanks for your help in advance.. Dan I have a textarea in a <td>which asks for users for some description. If users enter text and don't use any space or enter, the width of the table gets bigger and bigger and damages the pages design. What can I add (to td.fixed_width css for example )to make the line break after the width of the table is reached??? There is a solution that I put a div in td and then Code: #desc { width:"100%"; width::fixed; overflow:scroll;} but it is not exactly what I want hi every one... How can I display static headers in a table, so that headers remain visible while user scrolls the table body? This is not working in IE 7 any working example please 2. iam having a column which holds data around some 100 to 200 characters... by default i want to display some 50 characters and rest of the characters can be viewed by moving the column... if this is possible let me know how to do it with some sample code......i dont know much about CSS 3. One more problem iam facing is with the number of columns displayed in the table. I have to display around 15 to 20 columns in a table... with this 15 to 20 columns in a table, i can see scrollbar to the page ....but i dont want scrollbar to the page, instead i want want scroll bar to the table (so that it doesnot effect the design of the page) I need a fixed table width and height and also fixed column width and height..... Note: I dont mind if columns are not visible (thru scrool bar i should see the hide columns) Alright, this is probably a simple fix but I can not find the solution anywhere. I'm trying to highlight a table cell with a 2px solid red border when it is clicked. Is there a way to get this to happen with out changing the size of the cell? I hope this makes sense. Basically the cell is expanding by 1 px causing movement in the table. I'm having trouble pinning down an issue with just one part of a page. I can't seem to figure out if the issue is a css issue or an HTML issue. I have a tab that is under a picture that has a floating height and fixed width. Under the picture when the page first loads a div element that is supposed to be a css tab seems to float over it until I reload the page. When the page is reloaded the tab moves back to its static position. This only happens in IE7 by the way. I'm trying to get a table inside another table which completely fills the parent table, but I cannot get it to work. The simple piece of code illustrates my problem. The red table is inside the blue table but does not cover the entire cell from top to bottom, but only the centre. I want this table to be streched. Obviously height: 100% doesn't work. Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"> <html> <body> <table> <tbody> <tr> <td> 1<br>2<br>3<br>4<br>5<br> </td> <td style="background: blue;"> <table style="height: 100%; background: red;"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="vertical-align: bottom"> Test </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </body> </html> I have a dynamic table that is in the cell of another table. For the life of me I cant get it to stick to the top of the cell. It wants to sit at the midline of it vertically. Thanks for reading. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, Not exactly sure where to post this question... but: I'm having a bit of trouble keeping a table at a fixed height. What I have is a Small 200x80px table above my an input form. As users type data into the input form, javascript code dynamically updates the contents of the table. I have the table width properly fixed, and the input fields have character limitations... however if a user inputs a lot of capital letters or other wide characters, the table automatically increases in height when the text wraps. It's pretty much necessary that the text wraps for the middle lines of the table, and on the other two lines I have used the javascript to remove wrapping, but I never want the table to grow longer than 80px no matter how much is typed in the fields. Is there a way that I can constrain the table height? Thanks in advance! Hi all, what i want is to customise the borders of a table... i know that <div>'s can have custom borders but, for the way that the page works i used table tags <table>. (very little experience of using <div>) is there a way that css can manipulate the borders of a table? i tried using this css: .nmhead { border-color:#cccccc; border-top:border-top-style:none; border-left:border-left-style:none; border-right:border-right-style:double; border-bottom:border-bottom-width:5px; } and then in the table doing this: <td class='nmhead'> but it didnt work (attached is what i want it to look like) any ideas? |
