CSS - Css Display Issues (firefox Vs. Explorer)
Sorry for the "general" title but I don't know what is causing my problems, so it is hard to be specific... I am working on a web application for my summer research project, but I am not very knowledgeable in CSS. For the most part I am able to solve my problems except for the following:
Issue 1: Profile Display Issue 1 CSS file The copyright at the bottom. Firefox displays correctly. Explorer displays too much white space above the copyright text. Issue 2 *IMPORTANT*: Profile Display (with missing fields) Issue 2 CSS file The text in the SME Profile does not display correctly when some of the fields are left blank (Issue 1 link shows a full profile). I'm trying to avoid using tables as it would cause some major setbacks in my work. FYI, the pages are dynamically generated so links will not work. Any suggestions? Similar TutorialsMy special font displays correctly in all browsers except the new firefox. It even worked in the older firefox before the new update. My problem is this: in IE7, the sight does a couple of things strange: 1) The site loads a bit slower than on the other browsers (not really a big issue...just seems to have something to do with the main problem), and 2) the vertical scrollbar is laggy to say the least. If you scroll up and down the page quickly it will have no idea where it is supposed to be at! On IE6, the browser creates an extra little (appx. 3px wide) space in between the two navigation bars. You can see the page's background pattern through this space. Further, the navigation bars are not pushed aside for this gap...the bg is merely visible ON TOP of the images. Please let me know if you have ANY idea as to what the issue may be. As far as I can see, my code is as simple as I can make it...so I have no idea what else to do. HELP!!!! My main issue is that I'm limited to a Macbook Pro right now, I have VM Fusion but haven't been able to use my external harddrive with my virtual machine on it and have no other way to test in IE. Browsershots has it's limitations, haha. Anyway, it displays fine in WebKit and Firefox, but internet explorer is being real finnicky. If I have to I can resort to calling in a modified footer strictly for IE, but then I have to go design a footer for it down at the library so i can use on of their computers to test it. Thought I'd try posting a question here and see if anyone could spot something in my CSS that may not be working with IE. Thanks in advance, really appreciated. I have a horizontel list as my menu with a 1px border to the right of each item as a seperator. Each item has 10px padding to the left and right. In all browsers it shows up as expected in the middle of the menu items but in Explorer the border is way closer to the right, almost pushed up against the item to the right. Any help please. I just made some css changes on my site yesterday to redesign some pages, and I can't tell if it's all messed up in internet explorer or not. I'm a mac user but I always borrow my roommate's computer to check changes in IE. However, I'm now having an issue where internet explorer doesn't seem to want to show the latest changes, and it even seems to move stuff around into different places when I refresh the page. I tried one solution that didn't seem to do anything, which was changing the option of "check for newer versions of stored pages" under IE Internet Options from "Automatically" to "Every Visit to the Page". The layout of the website looks fine in safari/chrome/firefox and also looks fine on firefox on the PC. I can't think of any other reason why internet explorer would be acting so strange by not showing the latest version and often changing when I refresh the page. Hi, I'm studyng php for content management system. The php is ok. I used an external stylesheet, when i see it in Firefox is ok. But when i see it in Explorer it's not ok. The problem is on the left colum, the lists don't work well in Explorer. It seems to be difference between how Explorer and Firefox works with Stylesheets. However in explorer the distance is 163px?? According to the box model difference, if we consider that in explorer the width includes the border, the distance should be 161px but not 163px. SOLVED Essentially it was a couple of over looked css errors. Left column shoving down was a float error as I forgot set a width, the font size errors were fixed by setting the margins and paddings to on the H elements and using ".px" for font sizes over "em" This is yet again another mysterious issue I am having with CSS and the notorious Internet Explorer. I have two divs fashioned into boxes. One is floated to the left the other is floated to the right. The height looks fine in FF but when you look at the bottom border of said 'boxes' the one on the right draws up sooner than the one on the left (when viewed in IE). The CSS definitions for both divs have the same height specified. Even Opera8 doesn't suport my site and I think that was just released not too long ago. I think I'm going to be changing my browser of choice from Firefox to Netscape 8. I have the beta right now and it looks awesome and has all the functionality of Firefox I want plus it makes it easy to change between IE and netscape without actualy going to IE to see how my site looks. I'm attaching screenshots of what it looks like now (purple underlined links, section title not bold, too much indentation, bullets displaying for all pages), and what I want it to look like (brown text, bold text for section name, no underlines (only on hover), left-aligned, bullet only on current page).
