CSS - Making Text Bottom Aligned On Size Change ?
I'm trying to resize links on hover but doing so they change their vertical alignment during hover. Is there a way to prevent this ? Basically I just want the text to be bottom aligned and stay that way on hover. "text-align: top" works, but thats not what I want.
simple example: CSS: Code: a:link, a:visited, a:active { font-size: 1em; } a:hover { font-size: 1.5em; } HTML: Code: <div> <a href="#">Text</a> </div> Similar Tutorialshi, i'm wondering whether anyone here knows something that i don't about this... here's some code: Code: <div style="position:absolute; left:30px; top:90px; width:380px; height:80px; border: 3px double #000000; padding:10px; padding-top:5px; line-height:150%"> <table width="380" height="80" border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0> <tr> <td valign="middle"> <div align="center" style="width:380px;"> <span style="font-size:11px; text-align:left;"> aligned to the left.<BR> but is it centered?<BR> i think not.<BR> </span> </div> </td> </tr> </table> </div> i'm able to achieve vertically centered text in the table cell, and i can center it or align it to the left, but so far in my experimenting i haven't found a way to have text that is aligned to the left, centered in the div. i could always just add a bunch of padding-left on the div so that the text is pushed over and looks nicer although it is not centered, but i'm wondering whether there's a way to do it the way i originally planned to.. thanks very much for looking at this. Is there any way to make some text vertically aligned inside a DIV? Just like you would do inside a cell? Code: <table><td valign="middle" height="100">This text is vertically aligned</td></table> Apparently, the vertically-align CSS property only works if it is relative to other DIVs. What I want is some vertically aligned text inside a DIV. Thanks for the help. Wow I REALLY hate CSS. For hours I have been trying to figure this out: Here is some HTML Code: <td> <div class="linksbar"> <div class="linkstext"> link - link - link - link <img src="imagelink.jpg"> <img src="imagelink2.jpg"> </div> </div> </td> [CODE] the CSS [CODE] .linksbar { height: 28px; background-image: url(bg.jpg); } .linkstext { vertical-align: middle; line-height: 28px; font-weight: bold; color: white; } First problem: in Chrome, the text rests at the bottom of the div. I want it in the middle. Second problem: in IE it looks like a mess. The text is sort of in the middle (more towards the bottom). the image links are at the very top. The image link height is like 20 or something. Hi, I am making a site and it is important the text is always positioned over the background image in the same place. I have managed to do this. When I zoom out the text stays in the correct position however when I zoom in (as if I am looking on a smaller screen) the text re positions to the edge of the browser. How can I keep the text in the same position on all monitors? Here is what I have so far (I am very new to css): #content { text-align: left; width: 1060px; padding: 0px 30px 0px 30px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } Thanks Cameron Sounds weird, but you know us designers are always looking for fresh ways to present content. I've not actually managed to make this work, even though it seems ridiculously simple; in effect it would just be full justification except any orphaned lines would be right-justified, not left. Any ideas? How to get a text aligned vertically in a css button? Not sure if this should go in HTML forum or here, but there is CSS involved, so... Anyways, have a page here with 3 images aligned right. (Currently they are floated right, but problem originally was seen with aligned right, changed to css float and problem is the same). http://www.4for4.com/draft_board/to...r_id=HOTSTOVE13 I only see the issue in Chrome, but in Chrome if I refresh the browser, about every third or forth time the text will not wrap around one of the bottom 2 images in the main content area (Hancock & Theron). The text will just lay over the top of the image. If I refresh it will work again, but randomly will not render correctly over one of the two images that is aligned right. Is this just a weird Chrome rendering issue? Or is there some property I can add to the image that will force this to not happen? Thanks a lot. I was wondering if there was anyway to make a div appear at the bottom of the monitor. In other words, on my laptop, I have a site that I need to scroll down for. It goes as far down as a copyright notice. The copyright notice has a black border on top, right, and left, but not the bottom. That's fine because when it gets to that item, it stops scrolling and lines up with the bottom of the monitor. However, at home, I have a 21" monitor, and the bottom element is just floating there because everything easily fits within the screen. I wanted to see if I could get that bottom element to line up at the bottom of the viewable area somehow. Is this possible? Thanks. Hi, I wonder if you can help me, In FF, this site has it's rows messed up. If you scroll down towards the bottom the colours become out-of-sync with the text. Can anyone help? (It works fine in IE and Opera) Thanks CSS Code (scroll down): http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/...&usermedium=all Thanks again i have tried margins and padding but its not working! Code: .contenttable { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 12px; color: #606060; } .contenttable tr { margin-top:10px; margin-bottom:10px; padding-top:10px; padding-bottom:10px; } the table is here. any ideas how i can improve it otherwise, after the <tr> margins are fixed? Hi, I need to make colored boxes a specific height. Also, the box must stretch to fit the text within it. The text will be updated when a user clicks different nav buttons. Here's my code:: Code: .category{ background-color:#8CC63F; color:#000000; font size:21pt; height:36px; } the problem is that the box isn't 36 pixels tall. you can see my example he link Look at the box with the text description, and the box that says "cam tu dao". Any ideas. I've been trying everything I could think of. thanks Hi Trying to make a box (with a div and css to control it) that will fit around an image and some text. The image is 90 x 90 pixels and should have a margin of 10 pixels around it so I want my box to be a minimum of 110 pixels high - heres the catch, the text is never the same length its actually printed into the page from some php so the box needs to never go smaller than the image and its margins however if the text is of greater height than those the box needs to expand. This is what I have so far... <style> .floatimage { float: left; padding: 1px; margin-right: 10px; background-color: #CCCCCC; } .floatbox { width: 380px; padding: 10px; background-color: #ff0000; height: 112px; } </style> <div class="floatbox"> <div class="floatimage"><img alt="" src="image/icons/icon.php" /></div> <p> The float property allows other text to fit itself around a box. This is particularly useful with images, but it can be used in any way. </p> <p> I've created this example with enough text that it should wrap around the above floated paragraph. Let's keep going to see what happens. Does it really do what I think it should do? </p> </div> but when i give the box a height its fixed and when i don't it can go smaller than the image - is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance a+ gar <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <style type="text/css"> <!-- div.print { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 2pt; font-style: normal; line-height: normal; font-weight: normal; font-variant: normal; text-transform: none; color: #FF3300; letter-spacing: normal; word-spacing: normal; } div.regular{ font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: larger; font-style: normal; line-height: normal; font-weight: bold; font-variant: normal; text-transform: none; color:#006600; letter-spacing: normal; word-spacing: normal; text-decoration: underline; } --> </style> <script language="JavaScript"> function printerFriendly() { document.getElementById('div1').className = 'print'; } </script> </head> <body> <p><a href="javascriptrinterFriendly()">click here to change font</a></p> <div id="div1" class="regular"> <table id="tab1" width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="1"> <tr> <td>bla</td> <td>kla</td> <td>sal</td> <td>kdef</td> </tr> <tr> <td>iuwhdfqower</td> <td>ouresgopu</td> <td>uihwdrfpu</td> <td>uiwrhgfpuieroi</td> </tr> <tr> <td>oiiudefpuiwerv</td> <td>iufdgpiuwqerpoi</td> <td>iuergpuergipou</td> <td> </td> </tr> </table> <p class="print"> </p> </div> </body> </html> why is the font size not changing nor the color?? only the font changes when th link is clicked?? http://cad-design-engineering.com/New I double checked, and this page validates. (CSS and XHTML) The gray background on the right hand side - I can't adjust the width. When I do get a change, it breaks something - the links panel shifts to the bottom of the screen. I've been perplexed for several days on this one. Thank you. Hi all, I am having a bear of a time trying to modify the size of a checkbox element in a form under IE Windows. For all other browsers on the Mac and Windows I use the following style sheet settings: PHP Code: input[type=checkbox] { font-size: 9px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;} I have also tried coding a "style" attribute directly on the <input type=checkbox"...> element in my HTML code but to no avail! Does anyone know how the heck to do this? I am creating a website that uses English and Japanese characters. The default font size I use for English characters displays the Japanese characters too small. I would like the Japanese characters to display in a certain size whenever and wherever they appear. I can't simply use classes because I have English and Japanese appearing in the same elements a lot of the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Hey all, See on http://yourfishguide.com/Main_Page the grass at the bottom is 'siting' on the bottom of the page? Then on http://yourfishguide.com/Your_Fish_Guide:About it's a little above the bottom of the page. How can I make the grass "stick" to the bottom of the page, regardless of the length of the content above it? Thanks, Jordan I have a chess website at www.nothingbutchess.com. I'm having issues with the page showing up properly with IE7. On the left hand side, you'll see a box with the heading "Nothing But Chess - News". On the right, you'll see a box with the heading "Recent Checkmates". Both of these headings are divs that have png images for the background and the wording inside of them. The problem is, in IE 7 those words are being cut off. Specifically, although the div and the image used for the background of that div are 26 px tall, the words within the div seem to be getting cut off at the 19 px mark. I used a ruler to measure. The css that, for example, that controls the "recent checkmates" header can be found at www.nothingbutchess.com/css/nbc.css and is... Code: .recent_checkmates_top { position:relative; background: url(/images/home_wins_top.png) no-repeat top left; background-color:#FF6633; height:26px; } The actual html is nothing special and is simply Code: <div id="recent_checkmates"> <div class="recent_checkmates_top"> <h1>Recent Checkmates</h1> </div> ..... If anybody has an idea why this is happening, I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks in advance. How do you get the text to bottom of a blank page regardless of the browsers size? valign only works for the position of a single row and margin does not work very well as if the browser is to small it will not display and if to large it will appear to high. I am wanting to use this on an intro type of page. Also is there a way to display a new html page containing text from a frame link with a transparent background so as to keep the prior background "fixed" in view with the text on top of that? I'd like to have a container, a row, really. And I'd like text aligned to the top of the div, and then some more text aligned to the bottom of the div, like this: ------------------------------------------ Top text Bottom text ------------------------------------------ The thing is, I can't use tables, so if someone knows how to accomplish in a completely tableless way, I'd appreciate it! I did try the following, but it didn't work: Code: .mainDiv{ position: relative; float: left; width: 150px; } .mainDiv .upper { top: 0; position: absolute; } .mainDiv .lower { bottom: 0; position: absolute; } |
