Everything looks cool till the bottom of the browser, the page background just stops randomly. Can anyone point me in the right direction? CSS file: http://www.mattcampy.com/therealsamsclub/s/styles.css Similar TutorialsI've tested my CSS-based site on Windows IE and Firefox - so I am pretty sure it looks good in all windows based browsers. I'd be anxious to get feedback on Mac IE users (cringe) - I'm hoping the code holds up but it may not. A few points - the HTML is valid except for the flash on the home page (which the validator does not like). The CSS is valid with 2 exceptions of (!important) which the CSS validator does not like. Not sure of a way around either of those validator issues... Hi, I run this Farsi site and yesterday, I posted a few articles and suddenly I noticed my sidebar is out of its place! It is using wordpress and I must say, I did not change any css or did anything with the theme...just did normal posting. Would you kind people tell me how I can find out where the problem is in these cases? I checked to see if there is any extra code in the text of the articles recently posted, but found nothing...pure text and few <a> and <img> html tags.... size of the pictures are also moderate as you can see... I know you can't read the text, but where do you think I should look for the problem? the site address is (oh i can't post links!!!) please use 'punez' dot 'nafice' dot 'com' (it's a subdomain) Hi all, For some reason, my site (http://www.emineer.com) cuts off a bit when viewed on an iPhone. Here's a screen-capture to show what I mean: You can see that the right edge of the top blue background is getting cut off (it should stretch to the edge of the screen). It even happens on inner pages: As you can see, the right side of my site is cut off a bit. I have width set to 100%, so I'm not sure why this happens. It's not my phone because other sites work just fine. Any reason for this? ..never mind! Im just playing around with CSS and Photoshop and made this so far:- http://www.o0matte0o.myby.co.uk/windows-vista/ Lazy Link It look as its ment to in IE7, Vista IE and IE6 (apart from the PNG Transparancy in IE6) but when I view the site in Firefox there are spaces between each of the sub titles and the Title on the Transparent part is not in the correct place can any one help to see where Im going wrong please? I have tested the CSS and XHTML and bouth complie to the standard so I cant see what Im doing wrong :S Code: body { color:#565656; font-family: "Segoe UI", "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif; font-size: 80%; } hr { display:none; } img { border:none; } body { padding:12px 0 25px; background-image:url(../images/background.png); } h1 { padding:3px; font-size: 165%; padding-left:40px; } h2 { font-size: 100%; padding-left:110px; line-height:8px; } h3 { padding-left:225px; } .p1, .p2, .p3, .p4, .p5 { padding-left: 230px; padding-right:15px;} a { color:#6666FF; } a:hover,a:active { background-color:#9999FF; color: #565656; } #container { margin-left:10%; } #pageHeader { width:822px; height:80px; overflow:hidden; background-image:url(../images/header-test.png); text-shadow:#333333;} #quickSummary { width:822px; background-image:url(../images/content.png);} #preamble { width:822px; background-image:url(../images/content.png); } #explanation { width:822px; background-image:url(../images/content.png); } #participation { width:822px; background-image:url(../images/content.png); } #benefits { width:822px; background-image:url(../images/content.png); } #requirements { width:822px; background-image:url(../images/content.png); } #footer { width:822px; height:27px; text-align:center; background-image:url(../images/footer-test.png); } #linkList { position:absolute; float:left; top:100px; } #linkList h3 { padding-left:30px; padding-top:1px } #linkList h3, li, ul { list-style:none; display:list-item; } Any other idears people comment (noting that the XHTML file should not be changed as Im trying to only do every thing with CSS like the name of the site HTML page is from.) Hi folks, Here's the comp that I'm trying to port over as strictly css/xhtml: http://www.buyblue.org/stg/images/layout1c.gif username:buyblue pass:letmein It's a comp built to fit an 800x600 resolution, however I'm developing it to be a liquid site. And here's the ongoing attempt: http://www.buyblue.org/stg (same user/pass if you need it) As you can see, it's a work in progress. Here's my problem. I need to have the outer glow running down the sides of the content_container, so I created the leftimg and rightimg divs to have a bg image of each respective sides glow. Set them both to 25px, and I'm getting nothing here. Even if I did get it to work, I think this workaround would be a problem because it wouldn't stretch down to the size of the content_container div. Since this is an elastic design, the faux background trick won't work, obviously, and I can't find anything on the web that even remotely touches on something like this. Here's the basic structure of what's going on: Code: Code: <div id="container"> <div id="header"></div> <div id="leftimg"></div> <div id="content_container"> <div id="sidebar-left"></div> <div id="main"></div> <div id="sidebar-right"></div> </div> <div id="rightimg"></div> </div> <div id="footer"></div> Help would be much appreciated! -jack hi, i'm a CSS newbie still sorting out all of the browser issues, hacks, box problems and general confusion (hmmm, and you wonder why i've waited so long to learn CSS?). I don't have IE 5.x to check my first effort with & was hoping someone on this forum could take a quick look & see if it matches the screen shot i've linked to below. btw - does anyone here know if it's possible to have two versions of IE installed on the sample PC? I currently have IE6 installed & couldn't find any useful info on Microsoft's web site (i apologize for the ? but i'm a mac user and delving into windows makes me, well, shudder a bit). Test Page Screen Shot of Correctly Displayed Page my brain on CSS Sometimes I forget ";" or make some syntax mistake in css file. How to check if everything is ok with CSS file. Now, I just look on the html code and look for the changes. But is there a way to check for syntax errors in CSS file? Thanks is there a way to check if a page-break is going to happen? ex: if i print a long document that takes up 2 pages... i want to knwo where a page break will occur... I have the following site: www.artsenvacature.nl I've heard the site doesn't look nice on MAC OS (I've got a PC) and some tiny details fail on FireFox. It only looks perfect in IE 6.0. Is anybody interested in making the CSS compatible? I'm very well willing to pay for it. Please look at this site - www.tmhdesign2.com in Mac IE. I have someone telling me the site is waaaaay out of whack though it is completely w3 strict compliant. The links on the splash page are up on the top thought they are not apparent. Thanks. TOm I've uploaded a test page re how do I get a content div to scroll under [apologies for new thread]. It renders fine in Camino-Shiira, Safari, iCab, Firefox, IE Mac 5.2x, but not too good on Opera 8.52 Mac [fuhgeddabout Netscape 4x]. 1) Can someone provide some feedback on how it renders in Windows IE/FF? 2) Is the CSS a reasonable structure to convert the other pages of my site to? The template would be a fixed sidebar, fixed clock header (different-pages different-heights) and relatively positioned content. Two of the javascript clocks and the table are running ahead of time in debug mode. The test page is [obsolete link deleted]; clicking w3c css validator at bottom shows .css file. Issues in Opera-Mac indicate all is not well: a) table is one to two pixels wider (cut-off by overflow: hidden) b) scrolling table div eventually "catches" and drags fixed header when it scrolls. c) anchor "top" doesn't work from the bottom link. Hi, I am mainly concerned if this page's button navigation looks okay in Internet Explorer. It looks okay in Firefox, but when I view it in IE the blue background keeps popping through. I have been told that it looks fine in IE, but it does not in MY version of it. So would you please use Internet Explorer to look at.... http://thetransactiongroup.net/advisor/NEW/thursday5.asp Again, it's the left navigation buttons I am only concerned about. If it looks okay to one or two of you then maybe it's some bug in my own copy of IE. If you see the button problem in IE then I will then ask for help to fix it. THANKS Rowby Hi, This is my first CSS layout. I would like to know if there is a better way to code this or what improvements or changes should be done. Thank you, Lutek <html> <head> <title>Title</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <style type="text/css" media="screen"> body { margin-top: 0; text-align: center; background-color: #d30000; } #container{ margin: 0 auto; width: 650px; height: 800px; text-align: left; background-color: #FFFFFF; } #header { float: left; width: 100%; background: #FF9900; } #box-left { float: left; width: 33.3%; background: #FF0000; } #box-center { float: right; width: 33.3%; background: #ffff93; } #box-right { float: right; width: 33.3%; background: #ffff93; } #footer { float: left; width: 100%; background: #FF2200; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="container"> container <div id="header">header</div> <br> <div id="box-left"> box-left</div> <div id="box-center">box-middle</div> <div id="box-middle">box-right</div> <div id="footer">footer</div> </div> </body> </html> Hi, I am working on moving my tables based site to a tableless css layout. I just wondered if anyone out there could please help, by viewing my site with a Mac, to see if the header image appears. The URL is: http://www.jimpix.co.uk/ecards2/default.asp Another site I made for someone has a header image, defined via the 'background' css property for one of the DIVs, and I have been told it doesn't appear on a Mac. That site is: http://www.somewhereinbetween.biz/ I am concerned my site will suffer from the same problem with a Mac. It looks okay in IE and Firefox. Thanks Jim Hey here's the address to my first site using Css layouts. http://funnyguys99.tripod.com/index.htm Please help me fix the logo so it adapts to different resolutions, and I can't figure out how to get that blue bar to the very bottom?!! Please help I'm a big newbie Hey guys. I've been looking for this site that I should have bookmarked when I found but have lost. I can TRY and describe it as best I can. The main background color was white with, depending on the style you've set, a glass of wine or mug of beer fairly large in size and with a low opacity. The styles were simple. Purple or yellow. Wine or beer. Mostly black text. I forget how it was you were able to change them, but he used it in some examples. The menu had list items similar to the naving convention: liquid 2 column nf fixed 3 column nfnh liquid/fixed 3 column etc. The header was the whole wording of whatever the menu items were. Each page he showed examples using css, xhtml and sometimes javascript with the code on the page. At the bottom of each example it had a group for user comments. Some were empty. I don't remember any logos at all on the site other than the wine and beer. I think the url was something like: www.site.com/nameNO~/ I found it the same day I found the "seabold why tables are stupid" site. I remember reading a solution to a problem that I've encountered but I don't remember the code, I was just skimming the site. I tried finding other solutions, or the same solution somewhere else with no luck. Thanks hello, ive made a site for a client but for some reason when they first see it it moves up and then after they go back its fine. they use an old IE so i cant see why it does on my computer and its fine on mozzilla to. www.designerbagsboutique.co.uk is the website, can anyone help? I am currently getting back into creating websites and learning new ways to make them. I like using Photoshop to create the graphics, but is there any way that I can use CSS to make it so that on all my pages the main portion on the site remains the same, such as the header, footer and side bars? Appreciate the help. BTW... the site address is Orpheus Designs . |
