CSS - Total Mystery: Can't Interact With Menu On Right
Hi gang,
First of all, take a look at this page: http://www.cheeyewear.com.au/news.php I've made a website for a client and they are saying they can't use/interact with the menu on the right. I've tested every browser PC and Mac and they are all working fine. It happened after I added in the new footer code but I can't re-produce the issue at all. She says she sees the issue "Safari and at work Google Chrome". I know she uses a PC at her work. She's finding the same issue with this page: http://www.cheeyewear.com.au/eye_testing.php Can anyone else out there no interact with the right column on these pages?? Thanks!! Ham Similar TutorialsHi. Here's my site in development: bongbay.spacemakeover.com/homemade-bong.php In Internet Explorer it looks fine, the menu's align to the top fine - BUT in firefox there is a big annoying gap from the top. Does anyone please know how I can fix this?? Something for the css pros: Can anybody give me a hint on how to convert the following (table) based markup snippet to div-only markup? http://www.twosailors.net/test.html In all my tests I cannot get the rightmost cell expand so the whole menu gets it's total size. I do NOT want to convert the boxes to fixed width but keep them shrinkwrapping around the menu texts. Also, I do want a border around the boxes so any faking with background colors will not work either. Any ideas? Andreas Pardeike Problem with IE8 http://kool-invention.mine.nu/~httpd2/bug.JPG take look at: http://kool-invention.mine.nu/~httpd2/ with firefox and ie or other web browsers. why the right column in logo and page content is slightly going down? in Firefox it works perfectly. i tried to research on Google but i couldn't find an answer. I cannot figure out how to get rid of the bottom margin on my body tag. It's driving me nuts. It's set to zero explicitly yet there's still a gap between the body tag and the bottom of the page. I don't think it's a browser bug since it happens in both FF and Opera. site: gohanman.com/cms/image/tid/3 (forum rules say I can't link) There has to be something simple, but I don't know any way to change the bottom margin other than setting margin-bottom... I've been toying with a CSS Layout for a new site with a faux-columns (ALA style) two-column with clearing footer design. It also calls for a small gradient bar under the header that repeat-x;'s a gradient bitmap accross the bar. I've done things like this before (in fact, in the same document -- the HTML background) but for some reason this isn't working. I've checked the path in the url() for the element's background: tag, but no luck. Can anyone see what I'm missing here? Help is much appreciated. URL for Layout Test: http://www.gravitymusic.com/aiden/CSSTest/front.html URL for CSS Document: http://www.gravitymusic.com/aiden/CSSTest/style.css Thanks! I've got a form that I'm trying to lay out. I've prepared examples. http://www.dollardns.net/devshed/example1.html This is approximately what the form should look like. But I don't like how I managed to pull it off. I've explicitly declared a height for the middle row in my form. I want this to be automatic based on the contents. http://www.dollardns.net/devshed/example2.html But this is what happens if I take out the explicit height. The float lefts for the inner "box"es confuse the parent div into thinking it has no content. So the height collapses, and chaos results. http://www.dollardns.net/devshed/example3.html I've also tried making the "box"es use a display of "inline". But that doesn't work possibly cause inline elements are not supposed to contain block elements. Any recommendations? Forget it, I solved the issue. How does one delete a post like this... If I have

Home page

and in my style sheet td.menu { color:red; } then too bad for me. I have to put class=menu in every
tag. There must be a better way. I thought it might have been carriage returns, but it's not. For some reason, Textwrangler is showing either question marks (for firefox for windows) or little boxes (for IE for windows). The problem isn't happening for Safari or FF for mac. I can't figure out what it is. the site hey folks, i'm sooooo over this whole png thing. such a pain in the crack. i have this site www dot karriermusic dot com/links dot htm and if you view it in IE6 you will see i have the hack working and in place, i'm using a js script i got from here and it works EXCEPT im seeing a tiny border appear around the png's AND a little "X" appear in the top left of eac png which i have never seen before. Anyone got any ideas?! Much appreciated G Hey, i created this page using tables www.epcgaming.com/rev and obviously its very messy code, and doesnt load well. I had suggestions that i should do it in css, i read some tutorials, but i still do not see how i can make that layout using css and not tables, you guys got any tips to get me off inthe right direction? As the title says, I just started learning HTML/CSS, cause our robotics group need to have a website, and all that. Sooo....first, I did a basic (photoshop) outline of how it should look like, and all. -since I can't post picture links for some reason, I'm not sure how can I explain this...- And so, I tried my hands on CSS, and all. And well...I succeeded, and failed...ish. Basically, I tried to make the menu. While it looked fine and all, I think I mis assigned my CSS styling, so whatever I type in the
is now considered part of it. I tried to id the links out, but I don't think I did it correctly, or that's the wrong way to do it. >__> . To be specific, I want to place some text around, but they start at midway down for no reason, and the same goes for images with hyperlink. So I'm assuming it's still thinking whatever I'm typing is still considered part of the "menu". So is there a way to well, isolate the menu out, or something? Code:

ABOUT US JOINING US THE FRC OUR ROBOT 2011 EVENTS PREVIOUS YEARS COMMUNITY SPONSORS
So uh, can anyone help tell me what's the problem? =x Thank you very much. Following sample is from http://www.code-couch.com/jeff/snippets/general/tektips-navigation-example.html is what I am trying to reference to create a template. But how do I how keep the state of Menu on each requested page any help is appreciated. The following menu is saved in a separate jsp file i.e. navs.jsp. I include this navigation jsp file in all of my files. Initially the drop down looks like: Code: . Ask.Jeeves . [+] Google.com . [+] Yahoo.com Now clicking [+] in front of Google.com will look like. Code: . Ask.Jeeves . [-] Google.com . Google.co.ie . Google.co.ie . [+] Google.co.nz . [+] Yahoo.com Lets's say now if I click on Google.co.ie it takes me to sample.jsp and on this requested page (sample.jsp) how can I show the following menu hierarchy with Google.co.ie bold/underlined/colorchanged showing what menu content I clicked and am viewing the appropriate content i.e. Code: . Ask.Jeeves . [-] Google.com . Google.co.ie . Google.co.ie . [+] Google.co.nz . [+] Yahoo.com Same way clicking Google.com or Yahoo.com or Ask.Jeeves shows you the following hierarchy on the requested page with higlight/bold/colored the link we just selected. i.e. Code: . Ask.Jeeves . [+] Google.com . [+] Yahoo.com Any time clicking on the menu takes me to some page but on that page I want to show th hierarchy of the menu all the way to which is recently clicked with different color setting. With the website lady gone on a trip around the world for a year, I ended up being the person to attempt to modify our side menu to show an additional column of subcategories. I tinkered around with the code we had and I managed to get this to work in Firefox, however in IE7 the contents of the menu shift down a few pixels when you hover over a category. To view my problem, go to scannerparts.biz I've messed around with this for a few days and everything has become a big confusing mess so I have no choice but give in and ask for help. In IE it's almost there, except that the submenus will only appear one level deep. The menu is created with nested lists. The :hover functionality is simulated via JavaScript for IE 6. The IE developer toolbar shows the 3rd level menu is correctly being changed to display: block when its parent is hovered, and the border the dev toolbar draws even puts it in the correct place, it just doesn't actually appear. You can find the page he http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/ The CSS and JS (uses jQuery) can be found he http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/css/screen.css http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/css/ie.css (loaded with a conditional comment) http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/js/tdps.js http://www.perceptes.com/topdog/js/ie.js (loaded with a conditonal comment) For a specific example of what I'm talking about, try hovering over the second item, Filters & Parts. This will give you another level with four choices. Each of those also has child elements, but when hovered over, the next level doesn't appear. Try it in something other than IE 6 or 7 to see how it's supposed to look. Thanks very much in advance! Ok, I know virtually nothing about css, but realized that that a css menu is better for SEO. Anyway I found this vertical menu that works the way I want it. But I also need a horizontal version of it with dropdown submenus. Can someone help with this? I have been trying a bunch of things but it just looks awful and doesn't work right. It has 3 basic componets; Html, Javascript, and css. Here they are below. drop_down.js: Code: // JavaScript Document startList = function() { if (document.all&&document.getElementById) { navRoot = document.getElementById("nav"); for (i=0; i<navRoot.childNodes.length; i++) { node = navRoot.childNodes[i]; if (node.nodeName=="LI") { node.onmouseover=function() { this.className+=" over"; } node.onmouseout=function() { this.className=this.className.replace(" over", ""); } } } } } window.onload=startList; HTML: Code:

Horizontal Drop Down Menus

Home

About

History

Team

Offices

Services

Web Design

Internet Marketing

Hosting

Domain Names

Broadband

Contact Us

United Kingdom

France

USA

Australia

Style2.CSS: Code: body { font: normal 11px verdana; } ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style: none; width: 150px; /* Width of Menu Items */ border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; } ul li { position: relative; } li ul { position: absolute; left: 149px; /* Set 1px less than menu width */ top: 0; display: none; } /* Styles for Menu Items */ ul li a { display: block; text-decoration: none; color: #777; background: #fff; /* IE6 Bug */ padding: 5px; border: 1px solid #ccc; border-bottom: 0; } /* Fix IE. My result is acceptable: http://rickduley.webs.com/roundShoulderTabMenu.jpg except for the fact that the tabs are set below the menuBar on which the are supposed to display. I have run out of ideas. Would someone please set me on the right path? Thanks. P.S.: the code is at http://rickduley.webs.com/roundShoulderTabMenu.zip.kgb - you have to delete the 'dot key gee bee' suffix. Hi folks. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a template I've been working with (struggling with). It has a style sheet attached to it and I'm trying to replace the main, static menu with a drop down Spry Menu. I've managed to get most of it figured out but my dropdowns aren't colored correctly. The Spry Menu isn't centered on the page. The menu titles are spread out too far also (ie. it's suppose to be "About Me" but the "Me" is way below the "About"). I'm guessing it's probably an easy fix for you all but I've been playing with it all day without a lot of progress. Thank you. Let me know if I should post links. |
