CSS - Anchor Tags But With Css Fixed Header...
hi
I have a simple page which has a horizontal header along the top which is fixed using CSS, and below the rest of the page scrolls underneath this header. However I've noticed when using anchor points, that it aligns to the top of the screen (but underneath the top header). So when I click a link to go to an anchor point the top part of what I wanted to see disappears under the top header. How would this be fixed? cheers nathan Similar TutorialsHi all, I need some help. I have implemented a fixed header on my site, but certain content is scrolling above the header while other is scrolling behind. I would like it all to scroll behind the fixed div's. This is a simple question. In my menu system, I want my "items" to look like links. I've put the text in an Anchor tag... but I then get the, for this time at least, undesired blue underline action going on... What CSS do I need to use to prevent this. I want my <div> tag and/or my <a> tags to not change... Thanks. Have a look at this code. Why is the background not showing up as the appropriate pixel sizes? PHP Code: <html> <head> <title>CSS Testing</title> <style type="text/css"> .test-height { width:200px; height:108px; background-color:yellow; } #test { width:200px; height:108px; background-color:red; } </style> </head> <body> <div class="test-height"><p>This should be 200px high and 108px wide.</p></div> <br /><a href="#" class="test-height">Click Me (This should be 200px high and 108px wide.)</a> <div id="test"><p>This should be 200px high and 108px wide.</p></div> <br /><a href="#" id="test">Click Me (This should be 200px high and 108px wide.)</a> </body> </html> Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards, CH... Hi, I am trying to get a hover to work with my links. The problem is when i have a list-style-type in css. When that exists, the link text for each link goes behind the bullets instead staying to the right of them. What do i need to do to have a list-style and the hover effect hovering over the links? I'm wondering how to "vertical-align: middle" the text in the anchor tags. I haven't got that part to work. Code: a.aMenuLinks:link { color: #666666; font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 8pt; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 15px; width: 100%; height: 25px; display: block; } Thanks... I having a bit of a problem with my div tags. I have set a table inside the divs to a fixed width of 300px and the same with the div tag. But if I was to insert text into the table such as: 11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 this makes the table and div tag expand to fit the text on one line. Making is disappear off the page so people have to scroll to view the text. I have tried the CSS command of "table-layout:fixed;" but this just makes the table end and cut of the end of the text. Is there anyway round this?? Hi, I have a table with a scrollbar that works perfectly in ie but not in mozilla. When I scroll up/down in mozilla, the header is not kept fixed as it should be. I use a div that encloses one table with the content. the css code for the div and the thead: Code: div.tableContainer_plegado{height: 285px; overflow: auto; width:100%;} //I also tried top:0, just in case mozilla doesn't support the expression element thead.lista td{position:relative; top: expression(document.getElementById("data").scrollTop-0);} thanks in advance!! I've mocked up a page using 960.gs that has has several elements fixed in a div under which the content of the of the page is to flow. The background of this div is a CSS gradient, and has a height of 100% (if the gradient is applied to to the actual body of the page it doesn't actually extend the whole width of the page). As the user scrolls up, the content is to be viewable behind an opaque menu. bit.ly/f2a4rC The layout works as I want in FF and Chrome, but the content of the page scrolls over the fixed upper area in IE7. I understand that a new stacking context is being created, but I've been unable to resolve this by fiddling with the z-index of the elements in question, or their parents. I know I can consolidate some of the extra divs used by the grid, but I've been unable to do so in a way that keeps the gradient and transparency effects. How can I achieve this look in IE7? Hello all, still a little new to css layout problem-shooting in older browsers, so thanks for your help in advance! I'm having a problem which is only occurring in Internet Explorer 6, but I just can seem to figure out what's wrong. if you look at the page in any other browser, you can see the header <div> stretches the width: 100%, but in IE6, the header <div> does not extend all the way to the left, but rather starts where the margin:auto Main <div> tag starts from the left side. What I am lost on is that the footer <div> performs this just fine, but it's position is not fixed and there is no z-index. here is the code for both, and thanks again for having a look: #header { width: 100%; height: 107px; display: block; position: fixed; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; background-color: #000000; background-image: url(../images/main/bhs_design_header_gradient.jpg); z-index: 100; } #footer { width: 100%; height: 35px; display: block; background-color:#000000; margin-top: 10px; clear: both; text-align: center; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; font-weight: bold; color: #EBEAE8; margin: 0px; background-image: url(../images/main/bhs_design_footer_gradient.jpg); } Hello, im trying to make Fixed width 3 columns (each column have fixed width) layout 100% height with header and footer. -Well I see alot of examples around the web, but i dont see complete one and im really tired of searching, i made the Fixed width 3 comlumns layout, left and right are absolute position, and center is relative to the header -the problem is that all columns dont fill the whole height of the browser windows, the footer doesnot work good. so the whole thing is missed up, so please show 100% working example of what i need. Thanks in Advanced Samer I'm attempting to get a page that has a header, footer, left navigation bar with a fixed width, with a right "fluid" content section. I can get it to work by giving the main content a "margin-left" of the width of the navigation panel, and absolutely positioning the navigation. Problem is, with the navigation being absolutely positioned, it takes it out of the flow and doesn't push the container to fit its contents. I've trying playing with using floated divs, which is I'm sure the way I'll have to go, but I want the navigation bar to always be a fixed width of 175px, and I want the content section to stretch to fill the remaining space. I'd also like to make sure the content portion appears BEFORE the navigation panel in the order it appears on the HTML for SEO purposes. I'm sure it's easy using Javascript, but I'd like to do a pure CSS solution, if possible. How do I do that? Here is the link if you want to have a look: http://www.chcs-ut.com/support.php?section=technical http://cheers-sendai.com/fluidframe.htm has a great and simple example of 3 cols (OK, 2 cols in the middle section makes "4 cols"), header and sticky footer, where the middle col has overflow:auto so it can be scrolled. GREAT example, I think (due to the use of bg colors, etc.). The left/right/width values of the divs are manipulated so that the middle section runs from 10% to 90% and the left/right divs fill in accordingly. I'd like to be able to set, for example, the left and right divs to be 150 px wide (NO percentages!) and have the middle section stretch between them (regardless of viewport width) and be able to be scrolled, too. The problem I see is that most examples use percentages. I can set the left div to be a fixed width, then set the middle section left coord. to be, say, 150px, but then I need to set its width to stretch to "150 to the left of the right side of the viewport" and I don't know how to do this. Thanks. How can I fix a Div a set distance below another Div without a set height? Hello, I am trying to create something really simple: An image anchor with a height of 100px where the image is centered inside the anchor ... However, this is not working: http://www.27lamps.com/Beta/Bar/Anchor.html I added a red background to the anchor to check it out. Any idea how to make this work? Thanks, Miguel I have an interesting problem. I'm using a basic <div> for my content in the center of my page. On one page (a FAQ page) I'm using a table to display the question/answer part. At the top of the page, above the table, I have a bunch of questions (I'm sure you've seen this layout before). I'm trying to link the questions to anchors set to specific rows in my table, and it's just not working. I use <a name="blah"> for the anchor and <a href="#blah"> for the link...and what it does is take me to the very top of the entire table. Every link, every time. Regradless of where in the table the anchor is declared it just takes me to the top of the table. The table scrolls about 1.5 screens, so it should be going further. I placed a tag just after my </table> and just before my </div> and it worked perfectly, took me right to the bottom of the page. But when I moved it to just inside the </table> it quit working, and took me to the top of the table. That was far too much for one paragraph...sorry. Now, understand that I'm not using a table for the "question link" part of the page, only the "question/answer" part. I just can't figure this out, and it looks too nice in the table to go trying to do it all with css. The rest of my site so far is pretty much tableless, and I'm pretty new to css. The reason I'm asking here, is I figure it must have something to do with the css since I've seen the same code work fine on a table layout. Sorry if this is a dumb question, or if I should ask it somewhere else. I'm just losing my mind. i want to make it so a certain div is always at the bottom, but i cant do it by playing a min-height on the div above it, is there a solution to this problem? I am hacking a clients css. Can someone tell me where I am going wrong. His site is a Smarty one. Here is the meta tags. The website is www.russiansweets.us and I am trying to format the links in the right nav menu underneath the search function that are presently red. I added class A.one:{} Class but it seems not to make a difference. I get the same color links before as after (red) Code: <html> <head> link href="stylenew.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> {literal} <style> A { COLOR: red; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 11px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; TEXT-DECORATION: none } A:hover { COLOR: #993300; FONT-SIZE: 11px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; TEXT-DECORATION: none } // here is the part I added a.one { COLOR: #FFFFFF; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 13px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; TEXT-DECORATION: none } a.one:hoover { COLOR: #FFFFFF; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica; FONT-SIZE: 13px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; TEXT-DECORATION: none } </style> //end of what I added {/literal} Here is the html Code: <td> <a class="one" href="disclaimer.php">Disclaimer</a> </td> Hello, I am applying a style to a anchor tag. This anchor is created by an ASP.NET page and is inside a list item. I know the style is working because I applied it to the anchor in a page that has only this. .Test { background-color: #101010; color: #E2E2E2; padding: 4px 10px 6px 12px; text-decoration: none; font: normal 1.2em Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; } <a href="Test.aspx" class="Test">Testing</a> However, when I apply it to the anchor inside the list item I don't get the bottom margin unless I add "display: block" to the style! But then the background is extended 100%. I don't know what is going on. I tried everything I could think off. Here is the code where the Test style is giving me problems: ... <li> <label for="tbMessage" id="lMessage">Mensagem<span class="Required">*</span></label> <textarea name="tbMessage" rows="4" cols="20" id="tbMessage"></ textarea> </li> <li> <a id="lbSubmit" class="Test" href='javascript:WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions("ctl00$ctl00$cphSite$cfSendContact$lbSubmit", "", true, "ContactForm", "", false, true))'> Send </a> </li> </ul> Any idea why this is happening? All I am trying to do is to make my anchor look as a simple button. Thank You, Miguel What is the proper way to specify an anchor target in CSS? |
