CSS - Ie Shows The Page Little Wrong
Edit: Problem solved
This topic can be locked or deleted. I tried everything and figured out the problem Similar TutorialsHi, why Firefox shows it wrong and IE right? The website is www.theoutsourcingcompany.com If I change the value of margin-top to zero for the divs div-logo and div-text it looks good on both browsers but there's too much white space on top of the logo and the text... I am very frustrated, please help me. Here's the code for the HTML: Code:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; But it shows wrong in Internet Explorer and Opera. The code looks ok, so i think it must be CSS. Can anyone help I am developing a prototype site and have hand coded it using HTML 4.x as a base and CSS for styling However allthough the site runs fine on IE7, it does not load well on FF and Chrome. I know the browsers handle css differently but have no idea what code to change http://rich-carey.com/aufdw/ Any Ideas or pointers? I was screwing around doing some brain storming on an idea for one of my web pages when I accidently hit save. It wouldn't be an issue except it saved the changes I made to my style.css as well! I've been working on the site for a while finishing the last page and now this happens. All my text is the wrong size and is drifting in some spots. I have the an older style.css file I saved like a month ago, however I've made too many changes since then to implement it. I was looking for a way to take the current style.css file I have now and the old style.css and see all the entries that have changed, like debug them. There's so many lines I'd hate to go line by line, I'm using Dreamweaver CS4, however if there is another bit of software that can help me compare the two files and see the differences between the two that would be awesome! Any ideas? Hello, I have a page with a large table. The problem is that when you print the page, the browser will add a page break in the middle of a row. I would like to force no-page-breaks for each row, so when you print, it will never print half a row on one page and the other half on the next page. I am assuming css can do this, but I have no idea where to start. I can look up the specifics, can someone just point me in the right direction? It is possible (although support seems sketchy) to prevent tables from breaking: Quote: table {page-break-inside: avoid;} BUT... the css definitions don't seem to apply to non-block-elements (such as tr and th). Although the CSS validator does not seem to complain, most browsers don't seem to support it. This feature seems to important to have been neglected by WC3, so what am I missing? My final option (and I shutter to think about it) is to place a non-breaking table inside each row. That seems (to me) very silly, but perhaps it is a way around the problem. It has an additional problem that the td breaks won't line up. The table won't lok much like a table anymore. I am looking for a much happier solution. Thanks Hi, I've just spent all night re-building my site as HTML and CSS, since my Joomla site was suffering from a slight case of death due to "hosting issues" during a plaform migration I've got the site looking and working sweet, apart from one small thing. In Netscape 8.1 which I currently have installed, it loads the content in the right of the design right down at the bottom of the screen. When you refresh the browser it jumps back to the top, and it works perfectly for all links !!! It displays superbly in IE all of the time. I've been through the CSS checking that I'm using the clear and float in the right places, and I've checked the actual widths of all of the elements to be sure that they add up to what they are supposed to, but somehow it's still only displaying properly in Netscape after a page refresh. I've put in all of the box model hacks in my code for old browsers. The only thing that stops this from happening is removing the tag "display:table;" in my CSS. But that's used to extend the faux columns down to the bottom of the screen in Netscape. I'm not keen on any of the hacks for extending columns, so I decided on faux columns. The thing is, if it is that tag that's causing it to display incorrectly, why is it having no effect when the page gets reloaded? Try for yourself. Click a link in the menu a few times, then click the refresh button a few times. You will see the content load incorrectly, and then correctly! Puzzling. http://www.acecards.com Code: body { background-color: #999999; margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 10px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; } #container { width: 750px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 770px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 750px; /* For good browsers */ border: 1px solid gray; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding: 10px; background-color: #000000; } #banner { width: 750px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 750px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 750px; /* For good browsers */ height: 251px; background-repeat: no-repeat; clear: both; } #mainarea { clear: both; width: 750px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 750px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 750px; /* For good browsers */ background: url(images/fauxcolumns.gif) repeat-y; display: table; } #sidebar { width: 179px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 179px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 179px; /* For good browsers */ background-color: #993300; float: left; } #content { margin-top: 0px; float: right; background-color: #FFFFFF; width: 570px; /*For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 570px; /*For IE5/Win*/ w\idth: 570px; /*For good browsers */ } #footer { width: 740px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 750px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 740px; /* For good browsers */ padding: 5px; clear: both; } .FooterText { font-family: Verdana; color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 10px; text-align: right; } .Bodytext { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 11px; line-height: 17px; text-align: justify; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px; } .Bodylink { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #499EEE; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17px; font-weight: bold; text-align: left; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px; } .Bodyhighlight { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #993300; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17px; font-weight: bold; text-align: left; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px; } .SideBarBanner { font-size: 10px; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-align: center; line-height:inherit; padding-top: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px; } .SideBarLink { font-size: 10px; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } .SideBarHeadingTop { background-color: #FF9B6A; height: auto; width: 169px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 179px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 169px; /* For good browsers */ padding: 5px; color: #000000; text-align: center; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; border-bottom:thin solid; border-bottom-color:#D74600; } .SideBarHeading { background-color: #FF9B6A; height: auto; width: 169px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 179px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 169px; /* For good browsers */ padding: 5px; color: #000000; text-align: center; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; border-top:thick solid; border-top-color:#000000; border-bottom:thin solid; border-bottom-color:#D74600; } .SideBarMenuBlock { background-image: url(images/button.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; height: 26px; margin-top: 4px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 20px; margin-left: 9px; margin-right: 9px; width: 159px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 179px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 159px; /* For good browsers */ text-align: left; vertical-align: middle; color: #000000; font-size: 11px; font-weight: bold; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } a:link { color: #000000; text-decoration: none; } a:visited { color: #000000; text-decoration: none; } a:hover { color: #000000; text-decoration: underline; } a:active { color: #000000; text-decoration: underline; } .Heading { width: 520px; /* For browsers with no escapes */ \width: 570px; /* For IE5/Win */ w\idth: 520px; /* For good browsers */ padding-left: 40px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 15px; padding-bottom: 10px; background-image: url(images/aceofspades.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-color: #FFFFFF; color: #000000; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: left; vertical-align: top; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } img { border: none; } Hi, Here is the page I am having trouble with: http://mccalebconstruction.anchorwave.com/slices/index2.php If you view source, the CSS should be in the file as well. It is very basic because I have stripped out everything else on the page to make it simpler to identify the problem. But I don't know what the problem is! In Firefox it looks fine. In IE there is a line on the left of the content area. The line is caused by the background-image of #content. I don't understand why it's showing up, though, since the images are supposed to be floating left (thus, covering the background image)... but it appears they aren't floating ALL THE WAY to the left, there is a gap. I made sure all the padding and stuff was 0 but that doesn't help. Thanks in advance, ~wz Hey Guys, Im kinda stuck, my site here -beta.thenpcs.com just displays the backround in IE6. The CSS validates so im not sure what im doing wrong :/ Thanks! Hey guys, I'm new to web design, and I've begun putting together a template for the basic aspects of my page. Everything works fine in FireFox but nothing but the background shows up in IE. It's very frustrating because I have a feeling it's something small but I don't know what that thing is. Here is the link to the template I'm working on : thehempdaddy.com/unfinished/newdesign.html Any help pointing me in the right direction will earn you a friend for life. a site im working on .. (apparently I cant post URLs....) it's the normal stuff at teh beginning with porservices.formapixel and the normal web ending stuff at the end. works fine in Firefox. I validated with transitional. In IE7 the background images for the main divs show up but the entire content and header do not. I thought for some reason it had to do with the z-index. So I removed it from the CSS and changed the .gifs to .pngs that are transparent in the center. It still doesnt work. I'm lost. Quote: #bg { position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; background: #fff url('images/bg.png') no-repeat; width: 747px; height: 264px; } #wrapper { position: relative; width: 747px; margin: 0 auto; background: #fff url('images/abg.png') repeat-y; } that is the css relating to the two images that seem to be blocking everything (that's the only thing I can figure is that those two bg images are just sitting on top of everything.) any suggestions? I can provide the entire css file if necessary just didnt want to post all of that here if i didnt need to. thanks in advance. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me get this background image to show up in firefox. It shows up in IE. It's the first #header image. I included the other code in case something is conflicting. *edit... nvm. I have a CSS tabbed menu that shows horizontal in FF and Google Chrome (not sure about others at this point), but in IE7, it shows as vertical. I've checked the CSS & HTML in the W3C validators and come back with no errors, so I'm not sure why I'm having this problem. Any suggestions you could offer would be appreciated. Site: www.stockestate.com Code for the banner zone (div) Code: #banner { float:left; position:relative; top:0px; left:25px; width:468px; height:60px; margin-top: 50px; padding: 4px 4px 4px 4px; } Does any1 know what should I try to fix this ? Thanks On my website (www.tonecollector.com) I use CSS to get a dashed style to my header. The header also has a background image. Without the background image it works ok, but with the background image it doesn't. The CSS: .headertabel { background-image: url(/img/headerbg.gif); background-color: #FF7B08; font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #FFF6DB; text-decoration: none; border-left: 6px dashed #FF7B08; border-right: 6px dashed #FF7B08; } The Problem: http://www.tonecollector.com/dev/what.gif Whats the solution? When I preview my page in firefox on my Mac, (via Dreamweaver's Preview function), I can see the main logo image fine. However, when I uploaded the page and image correctly, I only get a blank area. I think this is a css issue, but I can't figure it out. http://alpineec.com/TEST/index.php Any thoughts? I wanted the links to be a darker blue on baykeeper DOT org, so I changed the code in both homepage.css and subpage.css, the two style sheets for our website. There appears to be only one place to specify link color in each style sheet: a:link { color: #004B91; text-decoration: none; } a:visited { color: #004B91; text-decoration: none; } a:active { color: #004B91; text-decoration: none; } a:hover { text-decoration: underline; If you look at baykeeper DOT org/index.html which is drawing from homepage.css, only the main content has dark blue links. The side column does not. On any other page (drawing from subpage.css) the links are still the same color. I have checked in the .css files and refreshed the pages but clearly I'm missing something... My questions a 1. Is there some other way to set link color in CSS? I don't see any other places where I could change the color, but maybe I don't know where to look. 2. I had a similar problem with the favicon - I updated the template but it didn't apply to all the pages equally. Why is that? Is there some way to refresh individual pages' connections to the templates? Mysterious to me. 3. Once I figure this stuff out, the bottom nav links will be invisible because the darker blue will blend in - so that's a location where I *want* the link color to be different (white). How do I control the link color in different sections of the layout? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Hey all, I'm trying to make some links using the normal list method, and have the link class leak the image. Right now nothing is showing up...no text, no button/image...nothing. It's rather baffling to me, because I have pretty much the same code working on a different page. I can't see anything that would cause this. I would very much appreciate it if you have a look at my code and see if you can see something I missed. CSS: Code: .box1{ width:900px; height:700px; background-image:url(bg.jpg); } #links{ width:853px; height:31px; margin: 0 auto; text-align:center; line-height:0; display: block; overflow: hidden; text-decoration: none; text-indent: -99999px; font-size: 0.0; line-height: 0.0; background-repeat:no-repeat; } #links li{ float: left; list-style: none; } a.link1{ width:185px; height:31px; display:block; background-image:url(bg.gif); background-position: 592 25px; } HTML: Code:

Job Description

Job Description

Job Description

Job Description

Thanks much http://www.pricedigital.com/ejs/advanced/0009/weight-loss-am-i-a-candidate-for-weight-loss-surgery.htm Check it out in IE and then firefox. It shows up great in IE but in firefox its not hidden. |
