CSS - Firefox Shifting Main Background From Centre.
In firefox with a maximised window my main background gets shunted right by 2px. If I de-maximise the window it puts the image centre. It always works in IE. Any ideas?
Similar TutorialsHi, has anyone ever had a problem with firefox only (not IE). that when you shift your background image, the divs on top shift with it? I dont want them to shift down but they do when I look at it in firefox its shifted, in IE its not. I am sorry this is my first posting. if anybody can help me, thanks alot. Here is my code: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <style type="text/css"> #outer { width: 820px; height:800px; margin: auto; background: url(images/background2.png); background-repeat: no repeat; background-position: center; } </style> <title>test</title> </head> <body> <div id="outer"> <div style="backgroundimage:url(images/header2.png); background-repeat: no repeat; background-position: center; width:819px; height:120px; margin-top:20px;"> </div> <div style="background-image:url(images/header2.png); background-repeat: no repeat; background-position: center; margin-top:20px; width:819px; height:120px; "> </div> </div> </div> </body> </html> So I have a completely weird problem that I can't explain at all and was hoping to see if someone else has any clue. In Firefox every page displays as it should unless the scroll bar is activated (ie. the content goes beyond the height of the available window). As soon as the scroll bar is activated the two divs at the top shift roughly two pixels to the right. I know it's not the bottom shifting to the left. Now the weird part. The CSS that manages placement of anything at all does not change between any of the pages, the only thing that changes between pages is a background image of a div, a div that isn't moving, and the images are all the same size. In addition I have tested this in Opera, IE 6.0, IE 7.0, Netscape Navigator, Safari, and Firefox, and the problem only occurs in Firefox, that's 3.0 specifically. Anyone have any ideas? Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help me out. I have two divs on top of each other: 1 is a menu, 1 is a grid. In IE, the grid is displayed directly below the menu. However, when I view the page in Safari or Firefox, the grid is displayed below and to the right of the menu. See screenshots I have also included my HTML and CSS below. Thanks for your help! Code: /* Submenu */ .submenu{height:32px;background:url(../images/submenu_bg.jpg);border-top:1px solid #ccc; width:105%; } .submenu a:active,.submenu a:focus{text-decoration:underline;} .submenu ul{float:left;z-index:19; On firefox the middle coumn is as far below the header as the height of the right column. I have tried everything but i cant get it to look right in both browsers. It is all done with floated divs and doesn't use any tables at all. Please can someone help me! www.datahq-online.co.uk Thank you! Hi I have been battling with this and have tried some solutions on the net but they dont seem to work this may be simple still got my l plates on. My center column wont center in ff its fine in ie my code is as follows body <div class="bgcolumn"> </div> <div class="leftcolumn"> </div> <div class="rightcolumn"> </div> <div class="centrecolumn"> </div> styles .leftcolumn { padding: 10px; width: 20%; float:left; } .centrecolumn { padding: 10px; width: 50%; background-image:url(images/house.png); margin-right:auto; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; color: #000000; text-decoration: none; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; position:relative top; } .rightcolumn { padding: 30px; width: 20%; float: right; position:relative top; } .searchs { float: right; padding: 0px; width: 400px; position: relative; } .bgcolumn { width: 100%; padding: 0px; position: relative; clear: both; } OK not only am I having problems giving a background image to individual cells. I have a problem where I cannot give the whole document the same background. I mean the background appears but one table (tab2) and one cell (td1) do not show the image that should span their areas too. Ive included the css, I think I may be some suspisious code. If you could please have a look for me. Thanks (see attached) Here's the url Template Any comments on the code will be very helpfull. Even if it is out of topic. In IE it looks pretty good. In firefox the border goes under the large image and the image navigation is left there naked on the body background. Hello, I just joined the forum, I'm new to web design although I have some experience in video post production. I'm attempting to create a layout for a website using sticky footer technique and an image for the border shadow in the main column. The sticky footer works well until I tweak the css to add the background border image, then I get this empty space in the middle of the body where the border image background should be extending to. It's probably a novice mistake but I can't get to find it. Your help would be much appreciated. Trying to work on a web site. I used a Wordpress theme and modified it to my liking. I am having a small issue that I would really appreciate help on. marinhome.inwire .net/lessons The page uses tabs. When you click from one tab to another, the tab content is shifting down. Can somebody please let me know what the problem is? Thanks, Gaurav Hi Site: http://louis-dev.co.za.www35.cpt2.host-h.net/ This is a mambo site. I have a strange bug in Firefox. On some pages the top menu shifts . But the funny thing is when I refresh that page it goes back to normal and when I refresh it again it shifts. Anybody have a clue what is causing it? Louis Hi, I have to get background position of image from a css class in a javascript function. [CODE] abc.button { width: 47px; background-image: url(../bt/save.gif); background-position: 0 -123px; } [CODE] I am able to get it in IE using backgroundPositionX and backgroundPositionY [CODE} var x = document.getElementById('abc').currentStyle.backgroundPositionX; var y = document.getElementById('abc').currentStyle.backgroundPositionY; [CODE} But I am not able to get the background position in FireFox. Is there a way to get background position of image in Firefox. Thanks I have the following code, in the sidebar DIV in Firefox the background does not show up, it does in IE7. What have I done wrong? CSS code: Code: #content { margin-left: 25px; background: #fff; width: 990px; padding: 15px 20px 20px 20px; } #blog { padding: 0; margin-right: 40px; background: #fff; width: 660px; color: #545454; float: left; padding-top: 5px !important; } #sidebar { width: 250px; padding: 8px; background: #ccc; } XHTML/HTML code: Code: <div id="content"> <div id="blog"> blah blah blah </div> <div id="sidebar"> <h2>blah</h2> blah blah blah </div> </div> I've been looking it at for a while, and while it's probably something minor I'm just simple over looking, I can't figure it out. Everything works, is in the correct place, except the grey background (#ccc) isn't showing up on the sidebar. Hi All I love Firefox, and have never had a reason to doubt it, but has anyone come across this before? I've got a page with a row of buttons which are <a> tags (or <divs> I tried that and it made no difference) inside which are transparent gifs the :hover states of which change the background colour. It all aligns perfectly in IE but Firefox, Safari and Netscape are all misaligning the background colour by about 2 pixels - dropping it down the page and forcing the enclosing div to expand. Here's the html Code: <div id="panelnav"> <a href="javascript:;" class="workbuttons"><img src="images/work-double.gif" alt="view more work" width="25" height="13"></a> <a href="javascript:;" class="workbuttons"><img src="images/work-single.gif" alt="view more work" width="25" height="13"></a> </div> And here's the CSS Code: #panelnav{ height:31px; text-align:right; padding-right:8px; padding-top:8px; } .workbuttons{ width:25px; background: #DDE0E9; height:13px; margin-left:5px; overflow:hidden; } a.workbuttons:link{ outline: none; border: none; padding:0px } a.workbuttons:hover{ background: #fff; } You'll note that some of that CSS is pretty redundant, but it just shows a few things I've tried that haven't worked : ) Anybody got any ideas? Thanks M |
