CSS - Compatibiility Problem With Netscape Browser.. Help!!
the site seems to work perfectly in IE. it gets garbled in netscape. i know its something to do with the box conventions and the way the browsers interpret margin/border/padding etc..

Try www.signplanning.com in Netscape 7.1 and you will see that compared to I.E. the left-side is pushed up and it should look like the Internet Explorer. Thanks in advanced. BAF I've been trying get a template working to transfer my site over to CSS (I've been reading about it and it seems to be the way to go) - have been working on it all weekend and have cracked a 3 column grid that seems to work well. I am using a table with 5 rows and 5 columns of data. First i hide <td>'s using style.display="none"; When i use style.display=""; for showing up <td>'s , in IE its working fine, but in Netscape 7.1 (Windows) the columns get collapsed on one another. The problem is with the 2 boxes near the top of the page, the "latest forum posts" one and the "search box". The whole page (from bellow the navbar) is laid out by the php script that generates most of the content of the site. Now I'm pretty sure that the problem lies with the "float" property in .forums. I seem to recall Mozilla and Netscape don't recognise this in the same way IE does. Is there a way of making the site look the same in other browsers as it does in IE? Without the "float" property I have failed to get it to look right, but there must be some way around this problem. I am also trying to find on the internet a good resource for beginners to learn css. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've designed http://www.battlefieldninjas.com in just about pure HTML. I've also linked it to an external CSS file http://www.battlefieldninjas.com/mystyle.css . The purpose is to align the text to the left edge of the graphics instead of the left edge of the website. So far the formatting works perfectly in Internet Explorer (I've used the latest edition, not the 7 beta to view), but when using FireFox. it places the text all the way to the left. I have some css problems displaying in Netscape & Mozilla Firebird browsers with a site I've built. The top menu and dropdowns aren't displaying correctly. There are also some spacing and alignment problems in the main body area and right column section. It seems to set up an invalid CSS style, but I'm not sure how to correct this for these browsers. I've made several attempts to no avail. I want to keep it working in IE. I've looked at some css hacks, but can't get it working with my style sheet and correct the Mozilla browser problem. -------------- My problem is, whatever the version of IE or other browsers, some users encountered the situation that when they clicked the hyperlink, the link becomes blue, but after closing the browser and restart IE again, some users will see the link color STILL IN BLUE, while some will see the link AS A NEW LINK WITH BLACK color again. basically everything works fine but when you're using Internet Explorer and resize the page vertically (horizontally works fine) the boxes behave like they're positioned static. What declarations do I need to write in my style sheet to make the boxes stay in their table cell? P.S.: I already searched the web for about 2 hours on this topic. |
