CSS - Spread A Gif, Left And Right, With Centered Header Logo...
My site is here...
css here... I have two .gif files I want to use in the header... the main one (header.gif) should be centered (as it is now)... while the other (header_spread.gif) should repeat on the left and right sides of the centered header.gif... The .gif files are transparent, so I can't use the spread as the entire background... I'd also like to refrain from making header.gif (don't care about header_spread.gif) a background or making the background of header.gif white, and have it in an <img> tag instead so I can dynamically change my header with the seasons... (though if background is the only way, I could have a header class for each season and have my script change it, so that solution would technically work too, but create a larger css file.) I need help formatting this properly... I can get the spread to work as a background for the entire div header, but that messes up the look of the center gif... Thanks Bryan Similar TutorialsHow can i accomplish this with CSS? See image he hxxp://g.imagehost.org/0398/css.png (replace x with t) Hi I am trying to insert a logo into my header at Site and here is the CSS code for the Header section: Code: /* HEADER */ #header h1{ font-family:Edwardian Script ITC; font-size:300%; font-weight:bold; } #header h1 a, #header h2{ color:#000; margin-left:2em; } #header h1 a:hover{ background:transparent; color:#000; text-decoration:none; } #header h2{ padding-left:7em; font-size:120%; font-weight:bold; font-style:italic; } /* END HEADER */ I want to have this inserted which puts a logo icon exactly where I need it Quote: background-image: url(http://guayadeque.wikidot.com/local--files/start/guayadeque2.png); height: 80px; width: 80px; position: absolute; top: 5px; left: 10px; And this is exactly how I want it but no matter where I try to put it, it mucks up the entire Header. Can someone shed some light on where that can go on the Header to be a logo icon in the position I want it? Hi, I want to place a Logo and Banner in the header using CSS, i tried this but no use its not working properly. PHP Code: div#main #header{ width:100%; height:95px; text-align: center; background:url(images/top_bg.jpg); } div#header #header_title{ text-align:left; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:25px; color:#ffffff; padding-left:20px; padding-top:20px; } div#header #header_title #banner{ text-align:right; width:468px; height:60px; background:url(images/banner.jpg); background-repeat: no-repeat; padding-right:20px; padding-bottom:20px; } Then i used this in html PHP Code: <div id="page"> <div id="header"> <div id="header_title"> Your Logo <div id="google"></div> </div> </div> But its not working properly, please please please help me....thanks... vinodkv Hi guys. I am building a website where some pages are long (and the slidebar appears) and others are short (so the slidebar doesnt appear) The problem is that the page is centered and when the slidebar appears, the page moves a bit to the left. I could set the left-margin to X pixels but then it wont work as expected with different resolutions. Is there anyway to solve this problem? hi, i'm wondering whether anyone here knows something that i don't about this... here's some code: Code: <div style="position:absolute; left:30px; top:90px; width:380px; height:80px; border: 3px double #000000; padding:10px; padding-top:5px; line-height:150%"> <table width="380" height="80" border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0> <tr> <td valign="middle"> <div align="center" style="width:380px;"> <span style="font-size:11px; text-align:left;"> aligned to the left.<BR> but is it centered?<BR> i think not.<BR> </span> </div> </td> </tr> </table> </div> i'm able to achieve vertically centered text in the table cell, and i can center it or align it to the left, but so far in my experimenting i haven't found a way to have text that is aligned to the left, centered in the div. i could always just add a bunch of padding-left on the div so that the text is pushed over and looks nicer although it is not centered, but i'm wondering whether there's a way to do it the way i originally planned to.. thanks very much for looking at this. hello genius people... please help this designer move more toward css after years of tables and images... I have a prob with ie 5 and 6 [not sure on 7] showing the content of a scrolling div outside of a containing frame. http://jodihelmer.com/portfolio.html and http://jodihelmer.com/journal.html the content in the scrolling frame shows up outside of the centered content. one possible fix I came up with is to increase the size of the divs at the edge and give them a background color. this seems to work. but, I also need to hide the content to thetop and left of the frame as well. is there a way to keep these divs within the centered wrapper while allowing them to expand to go to the edge of the browser window's relative size? or is there a better way to do this altogether? thanks so much. s I'm helping these fine folks fix a few little issues with their site but this one I can't seem to quite figure out. If you roll over the main menu you will see the sub menu slide down on the left. For the life of me I can't get it to line up under the main nav. I've tried many, many things. I'm trying to use CSS to create a layout that has a top header, followed by a left side navbar, a center content area, and a bottom footer. I'm totally lost by the CSS needed to make this happen. Here's what I'm trying. It's borrowed from other posts that came up by searching for headers and footer. Any help would be fantastic. I'm trying to end my use of frames for the header and navbar. Thanks in advance for any help. One of my problems is that my web experience is only in tools that generate the code. I"m needing what I"m told is a simple thing to do, but not finding it easy for me I tried to post with some links to my site, etc, but the rules won't let me post any links. I have posted in another CSS site, but fine it very inactive and not getting any help. What I'm trying to do All items below to make up the header of the site. A background graphic which fills across the screen, no matter the size of the window. I have this working, although if I shrink the window too far, it overwrites the graphic in item 2 below. A left justified logo graphic. Working fine. A Centered graphic. I have this showing, but it is not quite centered right, and it is a bit smaller than actual, and I cannot get it to space down a bit. (tried padding, does nothing. Trying margin spaces everything down, including item 1 above. A right justified graphic. This shows, but is VERY SMALL, much smaller than original graphic, and it does not right justify. NOTES The current code, below, is based on a tutorial I went through, using % for width. The idea being that if it is built based on percent of width, then whatever width of window, it would adjust. I used 900px for original calculations. I find that it only fills the window as if it is 900 px wide. So I redid the percentages based on 1500px. I've done lots of reading, Googling, and been trying all kinds of stuff and getting not too far with it. Tried px for width too, seems worse. Here is a print screen of the header: [IMG]URL[/IMG] Sigh...sorry...even img code has a url, and even though it showed in preview, I see it will not display it in actual message. The site I"m working on is shuttermaster.co (not com), where you can see what it looks like now. CSS Code Only including the code relevant to the header issue. I do have menu code in CSS, but it is not complete, and I'm not having problems with that. Code: #myHeader {width:auto;height:133px; background:url(/photos/i-QXfPgvM/0/S/i-QXfPgvM-S.jpg) repeat-x} #myLogo { float:left; width:10%; height:150px ; margin-left:2.22%; display:inline; background:url(/photos/i-sttGP6Z/1/O/i-sttGP6Z.png) no-repeat} #myConame { width: 15.33%; height:90px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; background:url(/photos/i-T3ZjJ8R/2/Th/i-T3ZjJ8R-Th.png) no-repeat} #myBanner { float:right; width: 29.73%; height:150px; background:url(/photos/i-BkhSxLJ/1/Th/i-BkhSxLJ-Th.png) no-repeat} The HTML Code Code: <div id="myHeader"> <div id="myLogo"></div> <div id="myConame"></div> <div id="myBanner"></div> <div style="clear: both;"></div> <div class="menu"> <ul> <li><a href="http://shuttermaster.co">Home</a></li> <li><a href="#">Portfolio</a></li> <li><a class="drop" href="http://shuttermaster.co/galleries" >Galleries <!--[if gte IE 7]><!--></a><!--<![endif]--> <!--[if lte IE 6]><table><tr><td><![endif]--> <ul> <li><a href="http://rogerewingphotography.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Landscapes/19892237_mHBK84">Landscape</a></li> <li><a href="Link">Drop 2</a></li> <li><a href="Link">Drop 3</a></li> </ul> <!--[if lte IE 7]></td></tr></table></a><![endif]--> </li> <li><a href="#">About Me</a></li> <li><a href="#">Guestbook</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> <div style="clear: both;"></div> I hope I have been clear enough. Hoping someone can point me the right direction. Regards, and thanks.... I'm attempting to get a page that has a header, footer, left navigation bar with a fixed width, with a right "fluid" content section. I can get it to work by giving the main content a "margin-left" of the width of the navigation panel, and absolutely positioning the navigation. Problem is, with the navigation being absolutely positioned, it takes it out of the flow and doesn't push the container to fit its contents. I've trying playing with using floated divs, which is I'm sure the way I'll have to go, but I want the navigation bar to always be a fixed width of 175px, and I want the content section to stretch to fill the remaining space. I'd also like to make sure the content portion appears BEFORE the navigation panel in the order it appears on the HTML for SEO purposes. I'm sure it's easy using Javascript, but I'd like to do a pure CSS solution, if possible. How do I do that? Here is the link if you want to have a look: http://www.chcs-ut.com/support.php?section=technical I've tried every thing possible to make the words spread out in Firefox (I don't know about IE6 or 7): Display: block; text-align: left; left: 0px... It doesn't work. Works great in everything except IE (well there's a surprise). What I would like to have is a shadow that emanates from a light source directly above the element (figuratively speaking). The shadow will in other words extend in all directions (or ideally to the left, right and bottom, but not the top) from underneath the div. I can't seem to get the spread right in IE. It seems that in IE I can only have the shadow extend in one direction. Here is what it looks like in Chrome, Firefox and Safari (what I want it to loo like) And this is what I have managed to do for IE 7 & 8 And here is the code: Code: #myDiv{-moz-box-shadow: 0px 10px 33px #000; -webkit-box-shadow: 0px 10px 33px #000; box-shadow: 0px 10px 33px #000; /* For IE 8 */-ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(Strength=15, Direction=180, Color='#000000')"; /* For IE 5.5 - 7 */ filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(Strength=15, Direction=180, Color='#000000');} I have been considering using three different elements each with it's own shadow going in different directions. This means a lot of tweaking to only display these elements in IE, and just seems messy in general. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can solve this in a simpler way? Any advice would be much appreciated http://cheers-sendai.com/fluidframe.htm has a great and simple example of 3 cols (OK, 2 cols in the middle section makes "4 cols"), header and sticky footer, where the middle col has overflow:auto so it can be scrolled. GREAT example, I think (due to the use of bg colors, etc.). The left/right/width values of the divs are manipulated so that the middle section runs from 10% to 90% and the left/right divs fill in accordingly. I'd like to be able to set, for example, the left and right divs to be 150 px wide (NO percentages!) and have the middle section stretch between them (regardless of viewport width) and be able to be scrolled, too. The problem I see is that most examples use percentages. I can set the left div to be a fixed width, then set the middle section left coord. to be, say, 150px, but then I need to set its width to stretch to "150 to the left of the right side of the viewport" and I don't know how to do this. Thanks. Hello! Im Using Joomla to build my website. Im using a module and im changing the css styling. There only one problem im having. The tabs on the module align to the left and because i dnt have enough tabs to fill out the space it leave a blank space on the right. I just want to know how to edit the CSS to make the taps justify / spread out evenly. The makers of the module say any question on customization will be ignored that why i post this question here to see if i could get some help. Its "Tabs Manager GK3" from Gavick Heres the CSS. Can any1 just make the changes for me please and post it below Thanks in advance! Code: .clearfix-tabs{ clear: both; } .gk_tab_item_space{ padding: 10px; } div.gk_tab-style3 { position: relative; } div.gk_tab_wrap-style3 { margin: 0 auto;background: #171717; border: 4px solid #822864; } div.gk_tabmenu-style3 { overflow:hidden; } ul.gk_tab_ul-style3 { list-style-type: none; margin: -1px 0 0; padding: 0; } ul.gk_tab_ul-style3 li { background: none; padding: 0; float: left; cursor: pointer; margin: 0; position: relative; } ul.gk_tab_ul-style3 li span { background: url('../../images/horizontal/style3/bg_tab.png') repeat-x 0 0; display: block; height: 28px; line-height: 27px; padding: 0 10px; font-size: 10px; color: #000; text-transform:uppercase; border: 1px solid #e1e1e1; border-left: none; } ul.gk_tab_ul-style3 li.active span { background: url('../../images/horizontal/style3/bg_tab-active.png') repeat-x 0 0; color: #171717; border: 1px solid #b32784; } div.gk_tab_container0-style3 { clear: both; } div.gk_tab_container1-style3 { overflow: hidden; } div.gk_tab_item-style3 { float: left; overflow: hidden; padding: 10px; } div.gk_tab_button_next-style3, div.gk_tab_button_prev-style3 { width: 24px; height: 24px; background: url('../../images/horizontal/style3/b_next.png') no-repeat 0 0; cursor: pointer; position: absolute; top: 43%; right: 0; } div.gk_tab_button_prev-style3 { background: url('../../images/horizontal/style3/b_prev.png') no-repeat 0 0; left: 0; right:inherit; } div.gk_tab_button_next-style3:hover { background: url('../../images/horizontal/style3/b_next.png') no-repeat 100% 0; } div.gk_tab_button_prev-style3:hover { background: url('../../images/horizontal/style3/b_prev.png') no-repeat 100% 0; } .gk_tab_container0-style3, .gk_tab_container1-style3, .gk_tab_container2-style3{ position:relative; } I've been unable to replicate this issue in IE, but it's plaguing all other "free" browsers I use (Firefox, Galeon, etc.). Take a look at http://www.skudd.com/blog/view/1370 for example. The bar on the left is floated left, as are the label elements in my comment form. In the li of each form item, I have a br with the clear property set to "left". What I'm trying to accomplish is I want to clear the previous label, so as to prevent the "stair step" effect. Why would "clear: left;" in this case cause the element to clear everything that has been floated left? What should I try in place of it? Hello, I have two columns, one is on the left and another in the middle (center). Left column is where I want it to be, central column is also aligned properly, however, it is below left column. I want it to be on the same level as left. See here see how it got below ? It is XHTML validated and CSS is fine too (some background color warnings). Plz help me to make central column go up. Thanks. I always seem to run into this problem and somehow get it fixed but this time I am stuck. I have a main wrapper and 2 footers that line up together and are all floated to the left. I'm trying to put in a column to their right that runs vertical called "right", to be spaced out about 110 px from the top of the page so it sits vertically below the banner and the navs. I tried giving it a left margin to clear the floated DIV's but to no avail. You can see the page he http://yourthreshold.com/playground/ It seems to clear in Firefox but not in IE .. The main CSS: Code: * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } body { margin:0; padding:0; background-color:#e5e5e5; } #wrapper { width: 640px; height: 720px; margin-left:0; margin-top:0; border: 2px solid gray; border-bottom: 0px solid gray; background-image:url(../images/banner.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-color:#c0c0c0; float:left; } #navigation { width: 640px; height: 22px; background-color:#c9c9c9; margin-top: 88px; } #insidewrapper { height:auto; width:99%; margin: 6px 1px 4px 1px; } /* Begin Left Side Info Boxes */ #sidebar { width:150px; height:600px; margin-left:2px; float:left; border:1px solid #666666; border-bottom:0px; font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:9px; color:#666666; background-color:#ffffff; } .infobox { height:123px; font:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:9px; padding:3px; border-top:0px; border-left:0px; border-right:0px; } .infopic { margin-top:9px; } .infobutton { height:20px; border-bottom:1px solid #666666; padding-left:3px; } /* Begin Main Content */ #maincontent { width:465px; height:593px; margin-left:158px; border:1px solid; border-color:#666666; font:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px; color:#333333; padding:3px; background-image:url(../images/background_trans2.gif); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:center; background-color:#ffffff; } /* Main Content for pages with textual content */ #content { width:97%; height:auto; padding:5px; } /* Main Content for pages with products */ #productWrapper { height:auto; width:100%; margin-top:10px; } #productLeft { height:auto; width:115px; float:left; } #productMiddle { height:auto; width:200px; margin-left:1px; float:left; } #productRight { height:auto; width:auto; } /* Begin Footer */ #footerlinks, #footer { width:640px; height:auto; text-align:center; float:left; } #footerlinks { border-right: 2px solid gray; border-bottom: 1px solid gray; border-left: 2px solid gray; background-color:#c0c0c0; font:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:9px; letter-spacing:1px; color:#555555; padding-bottom:4px; } #footer { margin-left:0; margin-top:0; margin-bottom:15px; padding-top:8px; border-top: 0px; border-right: 2px solid gray; border-bottom: 2px solid gray; border-left: 2px solid gray; font:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:9px; color:#555555; background-color:#a9a9a9; } /* Begin Rightside Column */ #right { border: 1px solid orange; width:195px; margin-left:650px; padding-top:111px; } |
