CSS - How To Color The 'title' Attribute
The title attribute will display black text in a yellow box on the mouse over of an element.
Take this code: Code: <a href='#' title='This should be a different background color or something'>text link</a> I want to have the title attribute display with a different background color, different font color and font size. I was wondering how I might use CSS to get into this attribute and do some editing. Thanks in advance, Taylor Similar TutorialsI'm fairly new at CSS, but I am stumped with an issue I am having getting my H1 and H2 tags to show a color. Now the problem. I have styled the Header tags in my CSS for a <div> tag that will contain the text on my page. They are to have the color of my navigation bar on the left of the page (value #cc0000). The nav bar is styled with a CSS created by a spry in Dreamweaver CS3. My text is styled by a separate CSS document (con-ed.css) which is found in a different directory. I created all of the style elements for my <h1> and <h2> tags and they look fine in Dreamweaver. But when I open the page in a Web browser such as Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer, all of the formatting of the tags displays EXCEPT the color value I mentioned above. I am guessing that I have a cascading issue going on, but I haven't been able to figure out where it would be. I am loading the con-ed.css stylesheet first, so its values should override any other sheets, plus there is no mention of <h1> or <h2> in the stylesheet for my navigation bar. Any help or suggestions you could give will be greatly appreciated! wncmacs Hi, is there a method of setting the color for title="some text" in a hyperlink ? e.g. [<a href="index.php?page=links.php" title="Redlake Valley business websites">Local Links</a>] TIA Mike Hi, I'm working on my first standards compliant site, so I'm a bit of a novice with the CSS required. You can view a test page I have set up at: 67.207.72.2/test_styles.htm (forum rules won't let me include this as a url) The css file for this page is at: 67.207.72.2/css/test_styles.css My issue is that the right column stops short- I'd like the background color to continue down the length of the page. To try to do this, I set the wrapping div on this section (#main_content) of the page with the appropriate background-color. IE displays the page the way I want it to appear, but FF, Safari, and Chrome all do not. I know this means I'm doing it wrong, but I don't know what to change. I've also tried using an image for a background for the #main_content div, and to set a height: 100% property for the column, but neither of those worked. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks for your time. Here's the code:
Code: <html> <head> <title>Sample Font Shorthand</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <style type="text/css"> body { margin: 0; behavior: url("../htcmime.php?file=csshover2.htc") } div { } table { width: 100% } .sttable { background-color: #000080 } tr { } td { vertical-align: top } .sttd { font: bold 12px Arial #FFFFFF } </style> </head> <body> <table class="sttable"> <tr> <td class="sttd">Catalog > Categories</td> <td class="sttd">Cart Total: $ 0.00</td> <td class="sttd">Date</td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> Would someone please tell me why the color of the text isn't rendering white? hello, about the well-known color warnings (and in the best interest of good accessibility practices) is setting "background-color: inherit" a proper solution? it supresses the errors, but does it solve the problem of having good contrast between different elements/the use of custom stylesheets? i'm asking because i have a stylesheet with different classes for text which are used over different background-colors (from the parent elements). so unless i make a class for each possible application of these text styles, i don't see a way to specify a fixed background-color... i hope i explained my issue properly... thanks for any thoughts or suggestions on this I'm making a game that revolves around four teams. For developmental purposes, I made the team colors blue, red, green, and yellow. And now I'm at the stage where I'm designing a layout. The theme is set in the 1800's, and my first idea was to have a different color scheme for each team (in accordance with their team color,) but my layouts ended up having nothing to do with the 1800's -- just colors (I want to give a very real effect to this website.) So I tried making a universal layout with a sort of tea-stained, burnt edges, parchment look, with a black background, but I had trouble making it tile nicely (partly the burnt edges, partly the stains in the paper.) So this is where I am. I need help designing a layout! I can change the team colors to whatever, I have beginner/intermediate photoshop skills (though, I'm quite competent,) and all suggestions are warmly welcomed! I want to set a width for a div so that its left hand edge is at the left edge of the viewing window and its right hand edge is at a particular location in a centered layout and retains that width (ie it stretches) when the window is resized. A percent width will not achieve this. Can anyone explain how it can be done? Attempting to inherit all main attributes of a column, and modifying few, what is the correct way to inherit/overwrite the attributes of col3 here ? Code: .col3, col3b { float: left; position: relative; background: #FFFFFF; width: 25%; height: 80%; left: 3%; border-left: 1px solid #333; margin: 3px 2px 4px 0; } .col3b { border-left: none !important; } Tried as well like: Code: .col3 { } .col3 .col3b { border-left: none !important; } note: not talking about a single 'inherit' value <div type="test"> I am interested in the type attribute. The reason is this... I have a Janus GridEx on my asp.net form and I want to add some css styles to it. There is no ID defined, nor a class of which I can inherit. I can't modify the code for this tag so I was hoping I could use the type attribute to identify this div in my css.... This is the code for the DIV I'm talking about: Code: <div type="4" style="position:relative;padding:0px 0px;width:100%;overflow-x:auto;overflow-y:auto;"> Anyone has any experience with this? Thanks! Hi people, What is the equivalent of this div style attribute in css? <div style="overflow: hidden; position: absolute; left: 0px; top: 0px; width: 500px; height: 300px"> Its the overflow what I'm looking for. -just edited this that I have the solution sorry beginners corner I'm using frames and I want all my anchors to launch in a separate frame. Right now I'm doing: Code: <a href="http://example.com" target="MAIN">example</a> Can I put something in my stylesheet that will automatically launch all links in the "MAIN" frame? Thanks. Am I better going for the position attribute here guys? Cheers I'm quite fluent in xhtml, css, and other crap...but I'm not sure why this doesn't work -> the height attribute is set to a percentage, yet it doesn't work...I know its acceptable i checked the css reference. view source on this Validated xhtml strict 1.01 EDIT: I FIGURED IT OUT... I NEEDED TO PUT THIS html, body { height:100% ; width:100% } Hi. I was developing a website . I decided to use float in order to align content on my webpage. Everything worked fine in IE but when I viewed page in NS then linkbar and main area that supposed to be aligned correctly, where collided together. The link to this webpage is: http://www.itcollege.ee/~rbomberg/hagerel/index.php If viewed in NS then you should notice that the links on the left are not aligned properly and main body text is also dislocated. The CSS file used for this website is available at: http://www.itcollege.ee/~rbomberg/hagerel/test.css Thanks for all the help. Having a little trouble. I'm creating a horizontal nav menu with a bg image for each li, but can't seem to get the height set for the li in css. Using this code: Code: nl#navBar { margin: 0px; padding: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } nl#navBar li{ list-style-type: none; display: inline; } nl#navBar li a:before { content: url(../images/navbutton_left.gif); } nl#navBar li a:after { content: url(../images/navbutton_right.gif); } nl#navBar li a{ text-decoration: none; background-repeat: repeat-x; background: url(../images/navbutton_bg.gif); } nl#navBar li a:hover{ text-decoration: none; background-repeat: repeat-x; background: url(../images/navbutton_bg_hover.gif); } I have tried several different variations of code putting height attributes and displays as block, but no combination seems to work. Thanks! Yours sincerely, speedbooster! Is there an equivalent to the target attribute in XHTML strict for anchor tags? Hi I am displaying images in a loop with help of DIVs so that they are displayed in a row. I want to show some text after them for which I am using a new DIV, to display the text beneath the ending of image DIVs I am using Code: <div style='clear: both;'> </div> it works but it displays the text in the very next line after the last Image's div. I want to give some space, for this I can simply use <br /> but I thought it might be possible with margin-top in the div, but when I write Code: <div style='clear: both; margin-top: 10%'> </div> it doesn't affect anything. Is it possible to give some space within div settings? |
