CSS - Hoverring Effects Problem
http://turkeybot.info/flash/play.php?id=121
When you hover near the bottom where it says "hover me", it's supposed to display a div right below that that has a black background and rounded borders (for firefox)...but the thing is, it isn't! What could be causing this? (css is on http://turkeybot.info/css/normal.php) Similar TutorialsI have a list of about 50 items, numbered 1 - 50. It looks boring just listed on the page and I want to jazz it up. I was wondering, if anyone had any ideas? I was thinking of having each numbered item listed in a random font size or something but I'm not sure if it's possible to do using CSS? what on hover effects for images CSS alows? for example can i make the image to turn in black and white on hover? or add a border? Hello I would like to make a hover effect when my mouse is over a link, as shown in my attachment. What I want is, as shown in the attachment (at design time), when I hover on any link, two horizontal lines are added at the top and bottom of that specific link, and a slight black transparency appears as well as a highlighter (not the text of the link, and by default the background will be slightly grayed). Anyone can help me with this? Edit: even if the black transparency does not appear is not a problem, but how to implement the two lines? Am using only css and html here, no javascript or any other libraries. here is the deal. i have a css layout with a top which holds the banner, a content which holds content and a footer which holds the footer. the page is all black except the footer is a dark grey. is there anyway I can make the email link a different link color than the rest of the links on the page? I'd better admit right off the bat that I'm a total moron at this stuff. Here's the site I'm working on (I apologize for the geocities ads - I don't want to buy hosting until I'm ready to roll with the page). http://www.geocities.com/dbot69/page1.html It does pretty much exactly what I want it to do through firefox, but it's all messed up on internet explorer. Is there any way I can get it to be compatible? I got the css code from this website (it's down but here's the google cache link): http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:na1aQDyoijkJ:www.frankmanno.com/ideas/css-imagemap/+CSS+Image+Maps+-+Flickr-like+Technique&hl=en&client=firefox-a then I tailored the code to do what I'm trying to do. But I'm probobly just doing it stupidly seeing as I have no clue what I'm doing. I got the following error when i tried to validate my code: "Line: 21 Parse error - Unrecognized " (it said other stuff, but it wouldn't let me make the post with that other stuff included) I don't really know what that error means though or how to fix it Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Rob How does wordpress manage the fading effects?, It goes from a color to another in the RGB space. I was wondering if this was CSS related, but didn't find much in the css files. Anyone care to explain me how to achieve this, please. Thanks. Hey, I have a problem with IE and my CSS. I have a table with a background-image and I wan that to change to a certain color on rollover. div.special {background-image: url(../images/pinkfade_bg.gif);} div.special:hover { background:#F8F8F8; } div.normal { background:#FFFFFF; } div.normal:hover { background:#F8F8F8; } Now this works fine in Mozilla, Safari etc. Just not IE Any ideas? Hello I'm a photographer trying to code my site myself, I'm a control freak and trying to learn css but coding is not my thing. I have two different rollover effects on my page but only one part is working. The links on the right of photo function correctly when I hover over them, but the links on top don't change as they should. a link to my css file Can anyone help me on this? I believe i have the order correct (a:hover follows link and visited) but i'm sure it's an easy fix. Sadly, not for me. Thanks for any help here is my site: chrisziebarth dot com/test My css file is located in /style.css Hi - i have forgotten how to assign different link "effects" to different links, so if someone could remind me i would be extreeeeemely greatfull !!! Cheers Jackson I need to put tables in my website that I am designing but thought about using css instead. The tables I wanted were similar in design to these ones :http://www.visionman.com in the middle of the page (about 300px down) but I wanted them to change color when the mouse pointer goes over them also. I would appreciate someone showing me how to do this please. Hey, I think i just need someone else to look at this for me. I've been coding all day and would probably be able to figure this out if I just went to bed and did it tomorrow. If you roll over an image that's alson an anchor at www.deeperdevotion.com/wp, you'll find that it places a background-color or underline or both on it. The thing is, I can't find the code in my CSS that's causing me the trouble. my css is located at www.deeperdevotion.com/wp/wp-content/themes/dd/styles/101106.css Thanks. Hello. I am new at css and web design so if these are easy problems please excuse. First of all, the website url http://www.onlinecasinoboss.com In Firefox, the unordered lists <ul> in the left column do not display correctly. The left margin is way too big. I'm not sure why, please look at the page in IE to see what I want it to look like. And in Internet Explorer, the spacing between my top image, header bar, and main page is screwy. There should be no space between the header image and header bar (the flags are in this area). Also there should only be 2px spacing between the header and the main page, however it appears there is atleast 24px there. Again please refer to the page in FF to see what I want it to look like. I like css, and have decided to pursue my first design in css based off of the many professional designers reconmendations and reviews. But I must say it is a major headache to deal with cross-browser/platform display problems. And what professional designer wants to rely on 'css-hacks' when producing a product for a major vender. Just beginner bitching. Thanks for the help! Hello everyone, I am hoping I could get some help on this. I'm the new Marketing guy at this company. One of my duties is to fix an issue with our website which was built by the last guy to sit in this chair. I may not know how to build a proper webpage, but this guy knew exactly how not to do it and ran with just that. So, the issue lies within this example page: tinyurl.com/rediculouswebsite The footer ends up under-lapping the table when viewed in IE (when not in compatibility mode) and Firefox. I know this is a ridiculously constructed site, I just need to fix this one problem and be done with web development forever. High fives and scotch from my boss very well may ensue. Thank you all very much. Hello all, Apologies to be asking for help on my first post, but I've scoured the internet looking for what is probably a quick fix but without the terminology I'm losing hours - time to ask for help! my site is englas.pl and in forefox it's fine. In ie8 it seems to be fine as well, the problem is with ie 6&7. The CSS validates according to the w3c site. (Sorry, can't add urls as i'm a new user) ie6&7 'cuts' off the bottom section of text where the container meets menu-bottom-bkg. At least this is what is visibly the case when you look at the webpage. The custom div look like this: #container { background: #FFF url(../images/bkg_container.png) repeat-y; min-height: 100%; width: 1190px; margin: 0 auto; padding: 0 14px 0 14px; } #header { background: url(../images/bkg_header.png); height: 127px; width: 1160px; margin: 0; padding: 15px 0 0 30px; } #menu-top-bkg { background: url(../images/bkg_menu_top.png) no-repeat left top; height: 128px; width: 1190px; margin: 0 0 -128px 0; } #wrapper { overflow: auto; background: url(../images/bkg_menu.png) repeat-y left; min-height: 500px; width: 1190px; margin: 0; padding: 0; } #menu { float: left; background: none; min-height: 370px; width: 159px; margin: 0; padding: 110px 0 0 0; } #content { float: right; background: url(../images/bkg_content.png) no-repeat right top; min-height: 400px; width: 763px; margin: 0 0 0 25px; padding: 15px 243px 10px 0; } #menu-bottom-bkg { background: url(../images/bkg_menu_bottom.png) no-repeat; height: 141px; width: 1190px; margin: -111px 0 0 0; } #footer { background: url(../images/bkg_footer.png); height: 100px; width: 1190px; margin: 0; padding: 16px 0 0 0; } I've gone through the html and i can't find any evidence of it being this, so i'm hoping that the css work above doesn't comply with something in the ie6&7 coding spec. I've read the guidelines to posting, so I've edited the post as much as possible to be helper friendly! Many thanks to all, doodlebug I've spent a good amount of time searching this site for an answer. Although I found some good information, I am still hitting this brick wall. My DIV tag works in IE but not FF. Below are three links. The top two are to my site and the one below is to another site doing the same thing I'm doing but working fine in both browsers. I can't explain it any better. http:www.humito.com/contact.html (set up for IE) http:www.humito.com/contact2.html (set up for FF) http://plazamexico.com/menu/abouttheplaza.html (just like first link) can someone share some insight. Need to know how the pull down menu and a browse button could take a style like http://www.discovertravel.no/ i tried to make it but it did not work on firefox... so can anyone help me to make this style coz it appears well in firefox. I've got this little navigation menu, everything works in Opera and Firefox, but in IE the border overlaps the whole thing.. See at http://www.leetwebmasters.com/2.0 CSS: Code: #menu3 { width: 200px; border:1px solid #BCD2E6; border-style: solid solid none solid; } #menu3 li a { height: 24px; text-decoration: none; } #menu3 li a:link, #menu3 li a:visited { color: #8BADCF; display: block; background: url(menu3.gif); padding: 8px 0 0 10px; } #menu3 li a:hover { color: #627EB7; background: url(menu3.gif) 0 -32px; padding: 8px 0 0 10px; } #menu3 li { list-style:none; } #menu3 ul { padding-top:0px; margin-top:0px; padding-left:0px; margin-left:0px; } So I have tested in all versions of IE and IE 7 seems to be the only one that gives me a problem. I have tried so many hacks. And now I am at a loss of ideas, time and mind. the site is woodbuiltright com / index-alpha1 php It seems the "E-Page" Div does not expand to contain everything. I have tried clearing divs but I must be missing something. Thanks Hi, I have a div with a form in it that's not displaying properly in IE. It's meant to display a breadcrumb menu and text input on opposite sides of the screen then followed by a hr, but in IE the input displays below the menu text and interferes with the hr... CSS: Code: #contentHeader { margin-top: 2px; font: 11px lucida grande, verdana, arial, sans-serif; padding-top: 2px; clear: all; } #pathway { float: left; } #searchForm { text-align:right; float:right; margin-right: 5px; } html: Code: <div id="contentHeader"> <span class="pathway">Home </span> <div id="searchForm"><form action='index.php' method='post'><input class="inputbox" type="text" name="searchword" size="15" value="search..." onblur="if(this.value=='') this.value='search...';" onfocus="if(this.value=='search...') this.value='';" /><input type="hidden" name="option" value="search" /></form></div> </div> <hr /> you can see what happens here - http://jmaid.org/index.php?option=c...ntpage&Itemid=1 - How can I fix this?
