CSS - Dhtml Tooltip / Css Layout
I have a problem with a tooltip i'm trying to make look decent in both browsers, IE and firefox.
it looks beautiful in firefox the way i have it. but in IE it stick the image way above the tooltip and the padding is a bit funky. Code: <img src="eq2icons/"<?=$icon?>" class="itemicon" width="42" height="42"><table class="ttb" width="350" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tr bgcolor='#FFDE2E'><td colspan=2><span class=quality><?=$itemname?></span></td></tr><tr><td width=88%><?=$text1?></td><td width=12%></td></tr><tr><td colspan=2><?=$text2?></td></tr><tr><td colspan=2><?=$text3?></td></tr><tr><td colspan=2><?=$text4?></td></tr><tr><td colspan=2><?=$text5?></td></tr><tr><td colspan=2><?=$text6?></td></tr><tr><td colspan=2><?=$text7?></td></tr><tr><td colspan=2><?=$text8?></td></tr><tr><td colspan=2><?=$text9?></td></tr><tr><td colspan=2><?=$text10?></td></tr></table> CSS: Code: span.quality { color: #000000; font-weight: bold; padding: 2px;} span.quality1 { color: #FFCC00; font-weight: bold;} span.quality2 { color: #21E626; font-weight: bold;} table.ttb { background-color: #282828; color: #FFFFFF; margin: 0px; padding: 1px; border-bottom: 1px solid #FFF; border-right: 1px solid #FFF; border-top: 1px solid #FFF; border-left: 1px solid #FFF; font-size: 11px; } table.ttb a:link { color: #8888FF; } table.ttb a:visited { color: #7777EE; } table.ttb tr { padding: 3px; } table.ttb h6 { font-size: 10px; } .itemicon{ float: right; padding: 2px; margin-top: 12px; } Here the site in question. (yes, i'm sorry i do require a signup to view the data to track and eliminate scrapers/data miners. Free signup though) http://www.eq2archives.com The tooltip is currently shown if you go to "quests by zone" then choose a zone and choose a quest with an item reward. ill post a few shots in IE and Mozilla thanks in advance =) Similar TutorialsI'm running into a problem with an interface that I'm developing. Basically it's a collapsible treeview using DHTML and the display property to 'open' and 'close' tables. I need to have several of these tables side by side but without overflowing horizontally so that the user has to scroll horizontally. The best way I've found was to float the elements so that any overflowing tables would be wrapped. Example: [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] [] However, a problem arised when I 'open' and 'closed' the tables repeatedly (three times or more). The other tables started to wrap immediately after the first table (the one I was opening and closing). So that all the tables lined up in a single column eventually and not flowing as they should've been. Example: [] [] [] [] [] Upon refreshing the page, everything flows as it should. Please let me know if I'm unclear in my description. i want to be able to have a site that has a table with some info, and a button next to it.. when the button is clicked on, a CSS pop-over opens and allows the person to type text, and submit... i can deal with the submit and php and such... i just need to know how to make the DHTML/CSS work for me. right now i have a page that has an iFrame and three tabs, when you click on each tab, it loads a different page into the iFrame. this is done as the data on the rest of the page is randomly generated via PHP.... so i cant have a refresh on the entire page... is there a way to hide all three sections of info the tab calls up in a "display:none" div? and then bring it up upon the tab being clicked? thanks. I have a website were the dhtml menu is driven from a seperate file. I have applied a style sheet to my page. The only problem is the style sheet is applied to my dhtml menu which i dont want. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I have a problem in IE when dynamically adding elements through the DOM, the problem is basically: if i add a element(a div btw), with document.createElement and use setAttribute("class", "my_CSS_classname") to apply styling, the styling doesnt get applied when viewing it in IE6 (it works fine in firefox). Does IE force you to style dynamic elements though the .style proberty or wah? hi there! well i have been working on how xoops cms ( http://www.xoops.org ) and sothink dhtml menu (Sothink Dhtml Menu ) can be made to work, i have been successful to some extent. the issue When i use the sothink dhtml menu on mywebsite: my Website the submenu width is all over the place. ok here is what i got so far 1) my website: http://ayubians.com/thesite/index.php with default theme, of sev_zero style css file : Sev_zero Style.css 2) Scroll down mywebsite and on left side you will see a block called themes. To start with I'm just trying to finalize the HTML needed for the window. You'll find my attempt below. The first one is before adding close and resize elements. It seems an ok starting point. The 2nd one shows my attempt to add the close & resize elements. The difficulty is in making them line up with the right hand side of the window and making the top one not take up an extra line. The problem is that I don't want to specify the size of the 'window' div because I want it to expand to fit the content. Because there is no width set any attempt to align right ends up aligning with the right hand side of the browser window. Anyone got some ideas as to how I deal with this? Am I approaching it wrong? I just want to have possibility to make hover tooltip based on poligon hotspots map hyperlinks (then I would use PHP to get data from a database). Anybody has this problem solved? hi, I have written a small tooltip code which works in FF and Opera but does not work in IE 6. When I hover it shows nothing. I have the following css Code: a {position: relative;} a span {display: none;} a:hover span { position: absolute; top: 5px; left: 30px; display: block; background: #fdd; border: 1px solid red; } and am using it like this Code: <a href=# >Name<span>full name</span></a> this is my CSS only tooltip, how to make that tooltip to bi on top of every item it is used for Code: <style> a.tooltip span {display:none; padding:2px 3px; margin-left:8px; width:230px; ;} a.tooltip:hover span{display:block; position: absolute;top:; border:1px solid #cccccc; background:#ffffff; color:#6c6c6c; font-size:12px;} a:hover {background:#ffffff; text-decoration:none;} /*BG color is a must for IE6*/ </style> <table width="768" border="1" align="center"> <tr> <td> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br><br> <br> <br> <a href="{url_download}" class="tooltip"> <div class="progress-bar" style="width:300px; float:left;"> -------------------------------------------- </div> <span> <div> <strong>File Size:</strong> {filesize_value} (KB)<br> <strong>Downloads:</strong> {hits_value}<br> <strong>Added:</strong> {created_date_value}<br> {description} {screenshot_begin}<img src="{screenshot}" align="right" />{screenshot_end} </div> </span> </a> <div class="seperate" style="float:left;"></div> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br><br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br><br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <a href="{url_download}" class="tooltip"> <div class="progress-bar" style="width:300px; float:left;"> -------------------------------------------- </div> <span> <div> <strong>File Size:</strong> {filesize_value} (KB)<br> <strong>Downloads:</strong> {hits_value}<br> <strong>Added:</strong> {created_date_value}<br> {description} {screenshot_begin}<img src="{screenshot}" align="right" />{screenshot_end} </div> </span> </a> <div class="seperate" style="float:left;"></div> </td> </tr> </table> Hi, I spend many hours on the net to fix this problem, hope you can help me. I made a site with 3 frames; header, menu and main. In the menu I made a table (width and height 100%), with rows with one cell each. In each cell is a link. With some links I want to choose between more pages. So I found a nice dhtml menu, witch looks like http://dhtml-menu.com/examples/dhtml-menu-ex2.html. Everything works fine, ecxept the position of the submenus. Here is some HTML: <table><tr><td> <a href="#" target="#" onMouseOver="hideAll(); showLayer('layer1'); stopTime();" onMouseOut="startTime();">Name</a> </td></tr></talbe> ... <div id='layer1'> <a href="#" target="#" onMouseOver="stopTime();" onMouseOut="startTime();">Name</a><br> <a href="#" target="#" onMouseOver="stopTime();" onMouseOut="startTime();">Name2</a><br> </div> And here is some CSS: #layer1, #layer2, #layer3, #layer4 { position: absolute; z-index : 90; visibility : hidden; width : 150pt; left: 10pt } #layer1 { top : 0pt } Questions: 1 is it possible to position the submenu exactly next (or under or above)to the corresponding main menu item, I think it should be with relative positioning. 2 since I use frames and the menu takes the left frame, is it possible to position this submenu on the right side of the main menu item, i.e. on top of the main frame, or in the main frame. 3 I read a lot about this and many people say that a page like this should be made using tables (or CSS-P?), instead of frames. If I have to or want to change it, does that mean that I have to write a table structure in every page and when I want to change a menu item, I have tot change that in every page? Hope some can help me! I'm using a CSS-based tooltip on a page I'm developing, and it displays fine on IE (v8), but on Firefox (v3.6.2) there is an additional 25 pixels or so of padding/margin at the right. I can't for the life of me work out why, so if anybody wouldn't mind taking a look at the page in question and seeing if they can fix what I'm sure is a relatively simple problem, I'd greatly appreciate it: As this is my first post, I'm not allowed to post the URL of the page I'm having problems with, so please PM me if you're interested in taking a look. Thanks, Mark Not know why tooltip box(class .show_tooltip) there is left when mouse enter on li a, i want display each tooltip box top same link that mouse is enter on it and if the width and height was more or less it is same style.(i want links put in right) http://jsfiddle.net/AQh6y/3/ I want example this (for how): what do i do? CSS: Code: .show_tooltip{ background-color: #E5F4FE; display: none; padding: 5px 10px; border: #5A5959 1px solid; position: absolute; z-index: 9999; color: #0C0C0C; /*margin: 0 0 0 0; top: 0; bottom: 0;*/ } HTML: Code: <ul> <li> <div class="show_tooltip"> put returns between paragraphs </div> <a href="#">about</a> </li> <br> <li> <div class="show_tooltip"> for linebreak add 2 spaces at end </div> <a href="#">how</a> </li> </ul> jQuery: Code: $("li a").mouseenter(function(){ $(this).prev().fadeIn(); }).mousemove(function(e) { $('.tooltip').css('bottom', e.pageY - 10); $('.tooltip').css('right', e.pageX + 10); }).mouseout(function(){ $(this).prev().fadeOut(); }) Can you style the tooltip box that pops up on hover over an object with the 'title' attrib set? If so how? Hours of googling have only led to some fairly complex DHTML/Java solutions that I don't like the look of. Cheers, John. Can anyone tell me how to change the background colour of all tooltip texts on a web page? Cheers. Sample can be seen at this link I'm using some jQuery Tool tooltip code that will bring up a stylized tooltip when the user hovers over a set of li tags. Right now, I'm just playing with the sample png file that came with the demo . This uses a black box as a background image and then anything I put inside a div class="tooltip" shows up as text inside that image. Nice, but I can't quite get the tooltip box to pop up where I want it. The li tags are nested inside a div, which is nested inside other divs. So, I need some help figuring out how to tweak the CSS to reposition the tooltip. I'd like it to appear just to the right of the selected li tag, and still stay within the maincol div. Actually, I don't even mind if it floats outside that maincol, just as long as I can get it to show up somewhat closer to the li tag's text. and just some of the relevant css Code: #maincol.second { padding: 8px; width:700px; margin-left: 190px; margin-right:10px; background-color:#fff; min-height:730px; } /* tooltip styling */ .tooltip { display:none; background:url(http://static.flowplayer.org/tools/img/tooltip/black_arrow_big.png); height:163px; padding:40px 30px 10px 30px; width:200px; font-size:11px; color:#fff; } .switches {width: 400px;} .switches ul{ font-size: .85em; margin: 1em 0 .5em 0; } .switches li{ list-style-type:none; color:#800000; } Hello, I am using an OS Commerce layout for a client's website. On this page - www.mts-diesel.com you will see how I have the homepage laid out in anticipation of design, with 3 divs of varying colors. One div with an id of #hp_left is where I want to put a nice jquery code. But when I insert that into #hp_left it breaks the whole layout, was seen here www.mts-diesel.com/index2.php I'm not sure what in the css in the code for this script is breaking my layout but Ithought someone here might be willing to shed some light. A big thank you. Tom I am working on the new home page which is based on a template. The left sideColumn is working fine, however I am having a few problems with the mainColumn layout. Here is a static image to show what I want it to look like Here are the problems I am having: 1) The #scroll box is place where I want it in IE but in foxfire it is right up against the left side of the #sideColumn partially hidden. There will be text that scrolls into this box and stops. I haven't started on the part yet - in case that makes a difference. Not my choice, but that is what the bosses want. 2) I want the image centered horizontal within the #mainColumn. Here is what I have for the css: #home img { margin: 5px auto 5px auto; } which I thought would do the trick, but it's not. 3) I want the p text to have a 40px margin on the right and left side like the .large does. Here is what I have for the css: #home p, .large { margin: auto 40px auto 40px; } It works for the .large (Welcome to Vitalograph), but not for the text below it. At one point I had it working, but after addtional changes fixing other problems, now it doesn't and I can't figure out why. Hi there and thanks for reading & helping! I am new to this site, but here is my question: I need to build about a 20 page website. I have been told I should do the "layout" for each page using CSS. Is it possible for each page to "link" to one CSS file for layout instructions? I have found suitable CSS layout templates but am unsure how to link each page to the external CSS file for a basic "header, 2 column, footer" layout, or if it is even possible? I've been scouring the net and the two books I have (Eric Meyer on CSS and CSS By Example), but I can't seem to wrap my head around the proper way to do a complex layout with <div>s. Here is what I want in English: 1. A masthead/titlebar - always takes up the full browser width, with an image fixed on the left, say 100 px high, at the top of the page. 2. Left and right sidepanes, say 100 px wide, starting under the masthead, that are as long as 3. The middle section for content. This is the main area, and it may be arbitrarily long. This area determines the height of the entire page such that the sidepanes extend all the way to the bottom. I would love to have (1) and (2) occur before (3) in the flow, so that I can make a simple header file for the masthead/sidepanes, then include the content, then close everything off with a footer file. Here is my horribly borked attempt at using nested <div>s: Code: <html><head><title>CSS Hell</title> <style TYPE="text/css"> <!-- body { margin: 9px; margin-bot: 0px; background: #FFF; } #level0 { background: white; } #masthead { background: blue; height: 60px; } #level1 { background: #DDD; border: solid; } #menu { background: #BBB; width: 150px; } #level2 { background: white; float: right; border: dashed; } #promo { background: blue; float: right; } #main { background: #CCC; } --> </style> </head> <body> <div id=level0> level 0 <div id=masthead> branding </div> <div id=level1> <div id=menu> LEFT SIDEPANE<br> menu<br> menu<br> menu<br> menu<br> menu<br> menu<br> menu<br> </div> level 1 <div id=level2> level 2 <div id=main> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> main content area<br> </div> <div id=promo> RIGHT SIDEPANE<br> promo<br> promo<br> promo<br> promo<br> promo<br> promo<br> promo<br> promo<br> promo<br> promo<br> </div> </div> </div> </div> </body> </html> Level 2 is nested inside level 1, but Firefox .9 renders the level2 div underneath level1. Also, the bottom border for level1 doesn't show up. ?!!?!? |
