CSS - Layer W/ 3 Bg Images Inside It
Okay here's what my HTML basically looks like:
<div id="container"> <div id="top"></div> <div id="middle"><div id="text"></div></div> <div id="bottom"></div> </div> Now, the top, middle and bottom have a separate background image, that when they are all placed UNDERNEATH each other makes up an image. This works out fine in IE, but in Firefox with the CSS I have set for it, it puts a white line underneath each image (kinda like there's an imaginary <p> in between them, but there's not). Can anyone help if this is a basic problem? Or do I need to post my CSS in order to get this figured out? Similar TutorialsOk here's my problem - I have three columns/layers (left, center, right) which are inside the content layer. I need to use relative positioning so when the page is re-sized all the page elements are still centered on the page. The problem I am having is that I cannot figure out a way for the colums to be aligned and seem to go under one another. I also need to keep the center colum with an overflow. If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful! Thanks <div id="content"> <div id="leftcolumn"></div> <div id="centercolumn"></div> <div id="rightcolumn"></div> <!-- End content --> </div> #leftcolumn { background-image: url(images/leftcolumn.gif); height: 412px; width: 148px; position: relative; margin-top: 0px; margin-left: 4px; } #centercolumn { background-color:#FFFFFF; height: 412px; width: 382px; position: relative; margin-top: 0px; margin-left: 3px; overflow: auto; text-indent: 2px; } #rightcolumn { background-image:url(images/rightcolumn.gif); height: 412px; width: 148px; position: relative; margin-top: 0px; margin-left: 7px; } Hi guys, I'm quite new to CSS and I'm having trouble with layers. I have a layer that I want to contain other layers. The main layer has no text or content, its sole aim is to provide a white backdrop for the other layers. The other layers consist of a banner, navigation and content. When the content gets longer, i.e. when the page is minimised, the content layer gets longer, but the main containing layer does not. As a result the content layer extends outside of the main layer. I'm useless at explaining this so here is the URL http://www.chriswiggins.net/comp3092/lineup.xml (The page does not render properly in IE, I use Firefox) The website is for a university assignment, and has little content at the minute. Any help is well recieved, Chris Ok, I thought I had some idea what I was doing, but I'm starting to realize that I have none... If everything is square in the top-left corner there is _NO_ problem, everything looks fine. However, when I set the content of the page to _center_ obviously the positions of the dropdown menus get messed up. Is there anyway for the dropdowns to follow the bottom of the "Weddings" text? I.E. when the user stretches their window window open further it still lines up in the correct place? Should all 3 parts be on layers? or is it ok to have two tables, and a pull down menu as a layer? Hello guys, I know this is asked several time, but this case is different and can't find a working solution. I'm creating a navbar using ul lists with items as images, and want to center it. I'm using the blueprint css framework, and the list items contains images instead of text. Here's the HTML code : Code: <body> <div class="container"> <div id="header" class="span-24"> <div id="header_wrapper"> <ul> <li><img src="images/nav_03.png" /></li> <li class="selected"><a href="#"><img src="images/nav_04.png" /></a></li> <li><a href="#"><img src="images/nav_05.png" /></a></li> <li><a href="#"><img src="images/nav_06.png" /></a></li> <li><a href="#"><img src="images/nav_07.png" /></a></li> <li><img src="images/nav_08.png" /></li> </ul> </div> </div><!--End Header--> </div> </body> Here's the CSS code : Code: #header{ padding-top:53px; border:#F00 solid 1px } #header_wrapper ul { text-align: center; } #header_wrapper ul li { display: inline; } I tried many code configurations but can't get it to work! a live preview is available here The image that is set to align right keeps moving down some. Is there anyway to get it to be level with the image that's left aligned without using a negative margin or tables? The problem occurs in Netscape 7 and IE 6. Mysteriously enough it is displayed correctly in Opera 7. Code: #title { margin-left: 170px; background: url(./imgs/title_mdl.gif) repeat-x; width: auto; height: 40px; } #title span { font-size: large; text-align: center; } #title img { width: 82px; height: 40px; } Code: <div id="title"><img src="./imgs/title_lft.gif" alt="" align="left"><span>Hello</span><img src="./imgs/title_rgt.gif" alt="" align="right"></div> I have a div with blue background on the page below. It is is currently displaying horitzontally across the screen, with the images inside doing the same. I would like to vertically align it along the right side of the page, next to the text (which would be on the left). I'd also like the 'Property Search' within the blue, aligned below the photo of the house. Can anyone help me out? I'd like to KNOW how to do it and not have someone just send me an updated style sheet. Thanks. Styles attached. http://mulqueenconsulting.com/galese/ http://www.kafadrian.com/juggernaut/index.html is what i have so far I want it to look like: http://www.kafadrian.com/juggernaut/layout.jpg The problem im having is that the image links that have mouseover effects dont align (touch) the blue bar below them and apparently in some browsers the image links themselves have gaps between them I spent hours, and yes im relatively noobish about all this, trying all sorts of different display commands and border/margin commands to try and get rid of any spaces, the way the site is now (10.01.08) is the best i could get it. in IE7 the mouseover images connect horizontally but not vertically with other images. am i going about this all wrong? my experience in building websites is mostly from the early eras of netscape when IE was new, back when you put stuff in a table a certain way with no cellpadding/spacing/border and everything aligned no problem. I appreciate any help with this as I undertand it will take time to give me an answer that no only makes sense (to me) but will work. the code for the site is: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Juggernaut - Monolith - Order</title> </head> <body marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" leftmargin="0" rightmargin="0" topmargin="0"> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var image1 = new Image(); image1.src = "news1.jpg"; var image2 = new Image(); image2.src = "news2.jpg"; var image3 = new Image(); image3.src = "news3.jpg"; var image4 = new Image(); image4.src = "roster1.jpg"; var image5 = new Image(); image5.src = "roster2.jpg"; var image6 = new Image(); image6.src = "roster3.jpg"; var image7 = new Image(); image7.src = "forums1.jpg"; var image8 = new Image(); image8.src = "forums2.jpg"; var image9 = new Image(); image9.src = "forums3.jpg"; var image10 = new Image(); image10.src = "files1.jpg"; var image11 = new Image(); image11.src = "files2.jpg"; var image12 = new Image(); image12.src = "files3.jpg"; var image13 = new Image(); image13.src = "info1.jpg"; var image14 = new Image(); image14.src = "info2.jpg"; var image15 = new Image(); image15.src = "info3.jpg"; var image16 = new Image(); image16.src = "founded.jpg"; //--> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function roll(img_name1, img_src1, img_name2, img_src2) { document[img_name1].src = img_src1; document[img_name2].src = img_src2; } //--> </script> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="margin:0"> <tr height="34"> <td rowspan="4"> <img style="display:block" src="juggernaut.jpg" width="560" height="110"/> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <a href="index.html" style="display:inline-block" onmouseover="roll('news','news2.jpg','text','news3.jpg')" onmouseout="roll('news','news1.jpg','text','founded.jpg')"> <img style="display:inline-block" src="news1.jpg" name="news" width="48" height="48" border="0"/> </a> <a href="index.html" style="display:inline-block" onmouseover="roll('roster','roster2.jpg','text','roster3.jpg')" onmouseout="roll('roster','roster1.jpg','text','founded.jpg')"> <img style="display:inline-block" src="roster1.jpg" name="roster" width="48" height="48" border="0"/> </a> <a href="index.html" style="display:inline-block" onmouseover="roll('forums','forums2.jpg','text','forums3.jpg')" onmouseout="roll('forums','forums1.jpg','text','founded.jpg')"> <img style="display:inline-block" src="forums1.jpg" name="forums" width="48" height="48" border="0"/> </a> <a href="index.html" style="display:inline-block" onmouseover="roll('files','files2.jpg','text','files3.jpg')" onmouseout="roll('files','files1.jpg', 'text','founded.jpg')"> <img style="display:inline-block" src="files1.jpg" name="files" width="48" height="48" border="0"/> </a> <a href="index.html" style="display:inline-block" onmouseover="roll('info','info2.jpg','text','info3.jpg')" onmouseout="roll('info','info1.jpg','text','founded.jpg')"> <img style="display:inline-block" src="info1.jpg" name="info" width="48" height="48" border="0"/> </a> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <img style="display:block" src="line_right.jpg" width="240" height="4"/> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <img style="display:block" src="founded.jpg" align="right" name="text" width="144" height="20"/> </td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> Hello I thought I could make it, but what I got so far is jumping over the screen, so please a need some help. I am new to Css thanks I have a webpage located at http://www.niu-sae.com I have a drop down menu image, in a div layer that will pop up when you roll over the first link "Active Chapter". First of all the positioning is all weird... when I am at full screen I have to set the div left at 285... even though it is really only about 116. any idea what I am doing wrong? Second even when I get it lined up... the way it is now... it changes if you resize the window. HELP. please. Hi all, I'm trying to center a CSS layer, and have tried everything google and I can find on the web about CSS centering, but none work. I simply cannot get the following "menu" to center horizontally in a browser window [note: I *can* get it to center if I set the left and right margins of the "menu" layer to the same value, but that stretches the "BDB76B" colored background out, which I don't want to do]. Any help appreciated - thanks in advance to any takers! Here is the relevant code in the html document: <div id="menu"> <a href="index.html" class=menu_link>home</a> <a href="services.html" class=menu_link>services</a> <a href="hosting.html" class=menu_link>hosting</a> <a href="testimonials.html" class=menu_link>testimonials</a> <a href="tips_tools.html" class=menu_link>tips & tools</a> <a href="contact.html" class=menu_link>contact</a> </div> and here is the relevant code from my style sheet: #menu { background: #BDB76B; position: absolute; top: 85px; height: 15px; width: 800px; padding-bottom: 5px; z-index: 100; } a.menu_link, a.menu_link:visited{ font-size: medium; color: #808000; font-family : "Gill Sans MT", "Gill Sans", GillSans, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: normal; font-variant: small-caps; margin: 0px; padding: 2px 5px 4px 5px; text-decoration: none; } a.menu_link:hover{ font-size: medium; color: black; font-family : "Gill Sans MT", "Gill Sans", GillSans, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: normal; font-variant: small-caps; margin: 0px; padding: 2px 5px 4px 5px; text-decoration: underline; } Hi, I'm trying to set up a side menu, which appears on the right-hand side of the page. Code: <style type="text/css"> #SideMenu { color: #639; background-color: #FBFBFB; position: absolute; top: 275px; left: 630px; width: 190px; height: 250px; } </style> However, when the browser window is resized, the layer then obstructs the main content (by floating over it), and does not remain in its place as it should. This is how it should look like:: However, as the browser is resized, the layer does this: I'm tring to remedy this using CSS only, so please send any suggestions to me. The code for the sidebar is: Code: <div id="SideMenu"> <p>Side Content. I like to eat food.</p> </div> Any ideas guys?! I have a web page containing 3 layers. There are placed side by side with absolute positions. The middle layer contains a image with a fixed size. Now I have to change the image based on user's selection, so it is no longer fixed sized. I want to let the third (right) layer to re-adjust its position when image is smaller. How to make it work? This is my first time working with layers, please help. Thanks. Matt Hi! Does anybody have some great link or book advice about all the properties of the DIV and/or LAYER - tags? Inspiring examples with javascript to this are also welcome. I will use it to build advanced layer functionality. Regards Bjorn Hello All, Im currently stuck trying to get a layer on top of a layer. The image below shows the problem. img68.imageshack.us/img68/5579/picture3cl2.png And here is a link to a code version: thenpcs.com/beta/ Any help greatfully appreciated! I want to take a layer and center on a page. In other words if I have the margins top = 0 and left=0 then inside the main layer which takes into account the entire page I want it to be centered on the page. At present I can center a table on a page but not a layer???? how to do this? thanks Hi. Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to cut down on my image sizes on my website: http://toptiertemplates.com, but i am having a few difficulties. I have this table which was created in photoshop which is off to the side. I would like to take just a slice of the table and repeat the image the full length of the table's original length. The page is written by placing everything with divs. I know how to set the image as a background and all and repeat it, however, when i do so, it replaces my website's background and just shows up as a white space. So i am wondering if I have to use layers of some sort or anything else. I'd appreciate some help. Thanks. Well, I can't post links so this is going to be hard as hell to type out. I have a layer within that page that I want in a certain position, yet when I move the width of my browser the layer does not stay where I want it. Obviousely, this does not make any sense because its something you have to see. I checked the rules for the forums and I can't find where it states anything about URLs, if someone would be so kind to show me, I'd appericiate it. Not that it matters witout seeing it on the page but my code for this layer is: Code: <div id="Layer1" style="position:absolute; left:848px; top:85px; width:118px; height:167px; z-index:1"> <div class="mltop">schedule +4hrs </div> <p>00:00 - Music <br> 01:00 - Music <br> 02:00 - Music <br> 03:00 - <a href="">BRR</a></p> <p><b>Current time: 00:00</b><br> Times in CST/CDT <br> </p> </div> |
