CSS - Image Rendering In Firefox, Chrome, Not Ie9
Similar TutorialsHey folks, here's an odd problem that's got me totally stumped. I've got a nine item unordered list, each of which is a link that contains both text and a background image. The background image is a large spritebox. I'm using background-position to shift the spritebox to display the sprite specific to the a:link and also to display a separate a:hover version. Looks great in Safari and CSSEdit, but in Firefox four of the links are misplaced and the sprite is incorrect. The hover state is correct, however. This is hard to explain, but the example should help illustrate the problem. My thought was that it was related the psuedo class of a:link, but nothing I've tried seems to help. Any thoughts? The example file contains both the HTML and the CSS (just to simplify this problem for this forum). The full background image and the file containing the sprites is at my website, artmeetsearth dot org slash 2011 slash codetest dot html. To get the image type socialmediaicons.jpg instead of codetest. Thanks for any help you can offer! Hi, okay I am working on a website for a friend, and it is peak-performance.biz I want the background image to fill up the page and be unscrollable. I made it work and look very good in chrome but it only takes up half the page in firefox. I was wondering if anyone have any ideas how to fix this. Thanks for your advice in advance. I have used html{ background-color:#000000; background-image:url(images/background.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-size:1300px; height:1000px; background-attachment:fixed; } and html{ background-color:#000000; background-image:url(images/background.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-size:100%; background-attachment:fixed; } Hello All, I have an image with a text label to the right that is linked. Now, I want a little whitespace between the image and the text, so that the text doesn't butt up right against the image. To accomplish this, I could use a non-breaking space ( ) However, the space then becomes part of the link and it gets underlined. So, by adjusting the image's margin (or padding) CSS, I can achieve the desired result... at least in Internet Explorer. Firefox/Safari/Chrome seem to underline a linked image's margin as well. I tried using "padding" CSS instead, but produced the same result. How can I get Firefox/Safari/Chrome to underline JUST the text in a link, and not the image (and it's margin) as well? This is how the code is displayed in IE: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/2360/pfieeu9.jpg Firefox/Safari/Chrome: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/5421/pffirefoxvv1.jpg You can see the little extra "nubbin" of underline between the icon image and the text. CSS: Code: a.red10ullink:link {color: #a80000; font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial; text-decoration: underline;} a.red10ullink:visited {color: #a80000; font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial; text-decoration: underline;} a.red10ullink:hover {color: #333333; font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial;} img.icon {vertical-align: middle; border-width: 0px; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px;} HTML: Code: <a href="somepage.html" class="red10ullink"><img src="icon_pf.gif" alt="" width="20" height="20" class="icon" />Printer Friendly</a> Thanks! Not sure if this should go in HTML forum or here, but there is CSS involved, so... Anyways, have a page here with 3 images aligned right. (Currently they are floated right, but problem originally was seen with aligned right, changed to css float and problem is the same). http://www.4for4.com/draft_board/to...r_id=HOTSTOVE13 I only see the issue in Chrome, but in Chrome if I refresh the browser, about every third or forth time the text will not wrap around one of the bottom 2 images in the main content area (Hancock & Theron). The text will just lay over the top of the image. If I refresh it will work again, but randomly will not render correctly over one of the two images that is aligned right. Is this just a weird Chrome rendering issue? Or is there some property I can add to the image that will force this to not happen? Thanks a lot. If you go to the example site: devbum.com/coded/audven/ The top navigation seems to be pushed upwards in Windows Safari and Google Chrome and not centered like in FF, IE6, IE7, and Opera. I'm not sure why it's doing this though... does it also render differently on Mac Safari? Hi I am completely stumped by this. My CSS is not rendering in FF, I am running FF on a mac. Two pages, they are nearly the same, but show one display Css and the other does not - No CSS and With CSS I have been going crazy trying to find out what is wrong. The CSS link is here Thanks Jake All I am trying to do is pad some text so that it is aligned vertically, but whenever I pad the text, in Firefox, it forces the parent div up, instead of the text down, which makes no sense Code: body { margin: 0px; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif } #logoimage { margin: 5px 0px 2px 5px } #version { font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; margin: 4px 5px; text-align: center; position: absolute; top: 20px; right: 15px } #header { background-color: #D2E1FA; height: 20px; position: relative } #navigation { font-size: 11px; position: absolute; top: 2px; left: 20px } #userinfo { background-color: #FFFFFF; height: 13px; width: 150px; color: #000000; font-size: 10px; margin: 4px 5px; text-align: center; position: absolute; top: 0px; right: 150px } Actual html is here... Code: <img id="logoimage" src="/images/logosmall.gif"> <div id="version"> Beta Build 1000 </div> <div id="header"> <div id="navigation"> Test My Account </div> <div id="userinfo"> <b>Guest User</b> > Log In </div> </div> It actually pushes the div almost until it overlaps the image above, which makes no sense... How should I be applying the padding instead? thanks in advance! one of my client's pages is not rendering my external css in mozilla firefox. the page's index is: (URL address blocked: See forum rules) It is in a frameset... the simplest page on my site is (URL address blocked: See forum rules)/leftspacer.html. I cannot get the stylesheet to put the background image in proper alignment. PLEASE HELP! hello. i'm using a CSS tutorial and DREAMWEAVER to build a website. i find that the site is interpreted the way i would like it in either Firefox or Safari...but not in IE. When links are hovered over while using IE, the page distorts. has anyone experienced this type of problem before? thank you in advance for your time and assistance! i did post several explanatory screenshots to illustrate the problem. replace each "@" with a period. mea culpa. www@wwpea@net/screenshots@htm here is a html page with iframe (index.html): Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>iframe</title> <style type="text/css"> #framebox{ width:200px;height:150px; border-style:solid;border-color:#000;border-width:1px; } </style> </head> <body> <div> <iframe id="framebox" name="framebox" src="iframe.html" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0"></iframe> </div> </body> </html> and this is a iframe page(iframe.html): Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <title></title> <style type="text/css"> #text{ background-color:#00f; border-style:dotted;border-color:#f00;border-width:1px; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="text">sample text sample text sample text sample text</div> </body> </html> run this example. the text inside #text(the div inside iframe page) is intentionally written with and iframe is given specific width and height to make iframe scroll. What happens in firefox(in opera too) is that #text div does not strech to fill entire text string but instead has width equal to width of iframe and the text kind of overflowing the div. But in ie #text div is expanding to include entire text string. IMHO is that in this specific case ie seems to be right... well, i know that ie wrongly expands containers dimentions if content is too big BUT not in this case... #text div DOES NOT have any stated dimentions so that means that i want it to adopt for whatever dimensions the content has... What do you think? Hi All, I am new to this forum and to CSS and Web Development as a whole. I am a notch up from "total n00b". I can't post links so the website is www (dot) authenticimpressions (dot) com I built this site for my wife using Wordpress, some plugins, and some themes I bought. The Galleries all look great in Chrome and Firefox on PC, and in Firefox and Safari on Mac. But in IE7 on PC, I get a 4 or 5px white border on the bottom and the left in each of the galleries. I've played and played with the stylesheets and cannot figure this one out. What other information should I post or provide to get some help? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it. Hey, Just making a site for a friend and I have run into a block with the Hover tag. It works fine in IE but for some reason other browsers aren't working properly... Any ideas? I have put my source underneath, sorry its squashed up. I have also loaded the site to the domain but won't put the link - not sure if I'm allowed. Thanks for helping! site link: http://www.nyitforums.com/ Ive noticed this is only a problem in IE6(and probably some more older browsers)...Firefox 3 and IE 7 it works fine. If you look at it in firefox, the blue covers the whole newsletter, text and images, but if you look at it in IE, it only does a small portion of it...Can anyone figure out this mystery??? CSS for that section: Code: #newsletter_subject { padding: 5px; font-size: 18px; color: #ffffff; background-color:#999999; } #newsletter_preview { overflow: auto; background-color:#000066; } #recipients { padding: 5px; font-size: 18px; color: #ffffff; background-color:#999999; } and then the corresponding html: Code: <div id="newsletter_subject">flashden newsletter!</div> <br> <div id="newsletter_preview"><font size="6"><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(153, 255, 153); font-family: georgia;">flashden <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">is</span> <span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">awesome</span> <span style="font-family: impact; font-style: italic; text-decoration: underline; color: rgb(153, 255, 0); background-color: rgb(0, 51, 204);">I</span>!</span></font><br> <br> <img style="width: 202px; height: 261px;" alt="" src="http://flashden.net/new/site_flashden.net/interface/logo_top.gif" align="left"><br> </div> <br> <div id="recipients">This Newsletter WILL be sent to the following users:</div> etc..... I appreciate any help. For example heres a span I have. Chrome seems to be viewing my fonts alot thinner/smaller than Safari and Firefox. Is there a method to create consistency and ignoring the webbrowsers standards? Its creating a mess, specially with my text which is using text-shadow. The blur looks like disaster. Thanks in advance. I do relatively simple websites and I did a simple one for a client of mine and have a problem selecting text in a column. The website is, jeffwalterssafety.com I can't seem to even touch the text. It acts like an "image" when looking at it in Firefox/Chrome but I can select it in IE 7. Be gentle in the site's criticism... Also let me know if it's necessary to have my CSS file here. Thanks Quick question, can someone tell me why do i get a white space on the right side of the screen http://www.impulsanl.org/testing.htm on IE 7 and IE 8? It seems to work ok with firefox and google chrome. (all screen). CSS code: Code: #extraDiv1 { background: url(images/header1.png) repeat-x; position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100px; margin: 0; padding: 0; } HTML Quote: <div id="extraDiv1"></div> thanks. Hey guys, I'm in need of some help here. Okay, so. My site looks the way I want so far on google chrome and safari (mac). And right now I'm at the stage of getting it to display like the two. If anyone who decides to help doesn't have access to certain browsers, I'll further explain, but I think it's easiest said to see for yourself. Right now I'm focusing on ie6, ie7, ff3. The markup in some areas is whacky, I know, but I decided to pick up where I left off on this project (which I first began building awhile ago) instead of starting completely over with a good template. http://thecheckoutplace.com/compute...eOneNetbook.php If anyone can offer a hand, it means a lot. Cheers guys. |
