CSS - Small Firefox Errors
Am putting the finishing touches to my site but in firefox 8 the top of the side menu there is a space and login part is to low as well.
My site is www.carswapped.co.uk Similar TutorialsHello ppl, I made a website using some mouseover menus, this is the simpliest way I found to create some menues using divs and css but I have a problems in firefox and netscape, the menu it's not apearing at all when i go over a TD which has the onmouseover property. I tried to add the mouseover property to the image from that TD but I had no succes and to a link which I made for test , nothing happent . In opera and IE everything is working fine. the link is here www.medimpact.ro 10x in advance see ya all Hello all, I have bumped into some strange problems. Chrome seems to be viewing my fonts alot thinner/smaller than Safari and Firefox. Is there a method to create consistency and ignoring the webbrowsers standards? Its creating a mess, specially with my text which is using text-shadow. The blur looks like disaster. Thanks in advance. I'm pretty new to CSS (only just begun). I've been teaching myself using a number of resources, but I realise the best way to learn is to practice. I just don't think I'm doing it right. I want to have the main content of the page floating in the centre of the window, which works in IE but not firefox or opera. I also want san serif fonts, but these also aren't being displayed in Opera or Firefox. Any ideas? Here's the code: Code: /*** TEXT AND TAG STYLES ***/ body { font:Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, san-serif; color:#000000; text-align:center; background-color:#003366;} h1 { font:Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, san-serif; color:#336699; text-decoration:underline;} h2 { font:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color:#336699; text-decoration:none;} h3 { font:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-decoration:none;} a { color:#3366CC; text-decoration:none;} a:link { color:#3366CC; text-decoration:none;} a:hover { color:#336699; text-decoration:underline;} ul { list-style-image:url(../images/bullets/bullet1.gif);} ul ul { list-style-image:url(../images/bullets/bullet2.gif);} em { color:#336699; text-decoration:none; } /*** PAGE DIVISIONS ***/ #container { width:772px; height:600px; top:7px; text-align:left; font:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:10px; background-color:#FFFFFF; padding: 10px 10px 10px 10px;} #masthead { height:100px; width: auto;} #navbar { position:relative; top:2px; width:auto; height:15px; padding: 3px 6px 3px 6px; border-top: 2px solid #000033; border-bottom: 2px solid #000033; background-color:#336699; color: #FFFFFF;} #content { position: relative; top: 2px; border-color:#336699; border-style:groove; border-width:1px; width: auto; height: 438px; padding: 10px 7px 10px 12px;} .piece { position:relative; float:left; width: 522px; height: 422px; z-index: 1; padding: 12px 6px 3px 12px; border: 1px solid #000000} .rightspace { position:relative; top: 0px; float:right; width:190px; height:422px; z-index: 2; background-color:#CCCCCC; padding:12px 6px 3px 8px;} #bottombar { height: 12px; margin-top: 12px; top: 12px; border-top: 1px solid #333399; background-color:#00FF33;} also, i don't think i'm using classes properly, but I think I just realised that. midgetporn So I made a test design for a site, which I uploaded for testing HERE. The problem is that for a few borders to the navbar and such, an image needed to overlap them, so instead I made them very short div's and cut the image to fit inside the div, about 2px in height. Although this displays fine in firefox, in IE the small images do not show. At first it looked even worse in IE, until I implemented overflow: hidden; to make the div shrink to its actual size. Any recommendations? Is there a better way to do this, or an easy fix? Thanks in advance Hi, I'm new to using forums, and need a little help trying to fix an IE6 problem. My code is all valid, and i'm using xhtml strict. my page works fine in all the main browsers (including ie:7/8) just not ie6. Here is the problem i have. I have a div (links) which is 956px wide and i am floating 5 other divs (1-5) within the links div. The widths and padding for all of the 5 divs equals 956px's But for some reason the last div (lower5) is dropping out of alignment, it looks like ie6 thinks there is not enough room for all of the 5 divs to fit within the outer div. As you can see i have tried using line height:0; and that did not help. Here is my code...........Any idea's HTML: <div id="lower-links"> <div id="lower1"></div> <div id="lower2"></div> <div id="lower3"></div> <div id="lower4"></div> <div id="lower5"></div> </div> CSS: #links { margin:0; padding:0; background-color: #FFFFFF; width: 956px; height:374px; float: right; line-height:0; } #lower1,#lower3 { background-color: #FFFFFF; width: 161px; height:308px; float: left; padding-top:33px; padding-left:15px; padding-right:15px; line-height:0; } #lower2,#lower4 { background-color: #FFFFFF; width: 162px; height:308px; float:left; padding-top:33px; padding-left:15px; padding-right:15px; line-height:0; } #lower5 { background-color: #FFFFFF; width: 160px; height:308px; float: right; padding-top:33px; padding-left:15px; padding-right:15px; line-height:0; } Hi Guys, Hope someone can help out here.. I am trying to create a page with a header and footer and a middle portion for the content. I am not used to using CSS and I thought I had it working but when I test in IE it doesn't quite work as expected.. The footer removes itself from the bottom of the page and the scrollbars for the maincontent extend below the footer.. You'll see what I mean if you open this in IE: http://www.modelglamorous.com/div_test.htm http://www.modelglamorous.com/css/mainstyle.css It works perfectly in Firefox but not in IE.. I think it's something simple but I am not sure how to fix it.. TIA, N. Howdy folks. If you check http://www.clansunited.net/ and http://www.clansunited.net/phorum/read.php?55,20178,20178#20178 you will notice that it doesnt really appear as it should as in IE. Now there are 2-3 small minor errors left otherwise everything is valid. How do I make the space between the menu and the rest of the site appear as in IE without messing it up in IE? Any feedback is welcome. battleglory.mattaproductions.com/layout Somewhere in the coding I made a issue somewhere and I don't know where. In firefox the layout shows up fine, but in Internet Explorer there is like a pixel gap between the top content image and the text. Appreciate anyone's help....thanks. Matta EDIT: Special thanks to ryan-reese-09 and kk5st for the wonderful support they both gave. What happen was a gap below the images in IE and firefox displayed just fine. I added: img{ vertical-align: bottom; } Fixed the issue immediately. But than my images were to close so than I added: #special_feature_btm img { padding: 0px 0px 10px 0px; } #content_btm img { padding: 0px 0px 10px 0px; } This gave a 10px space to the bottom of the images. Remember top, right, bottom, left (clockwise). So the rest I didn't need to change. I hope I summarized this up well and hope it helps you guys out sometime. Thanks again! Matta moved on.... Well I got sick of reading through tons of <td> and <tr> tags today so I sat down and tried to write my first CSS script ever. I got the basic idea of it and tweaked it using Firefox/Firebug to get it working great. The problem was I checked back in IE (since most people use it =/...) It looked all messed up and I tried changing a lot of things around and I just got frustrated. Since I am new to this whole thing with CSS, I don't know what to look for or change. I know that the top links are messed up but I will fix those after I get my layout working in both browsers. Can anyone help me out? www.etwcweb.com/ETWC.html Here is the CSS code also: Code: /* Main Part */ body { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; background: #333333 url(Images/mainbacknew.png) repeat-y; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px; } h1 { font-size: 115% font-weight: bold; color: #000000; } p, ol, ul { line-height: 145% } a { color: #FFFFFF; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; } a:hover { color: #CCCCCC; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; } ul { list-style-image:none; list-style-position:outside; list-style-type:none; margin-left:0pt; padding-left:0pt; } ul li { list-style: url(Images/bluearrow.png); padding-left:15px; } img { border:medium none; } img.left { float:left; margin:5px 9px 0pt 0pt; } img.right { float:right; margin:5px 9px 0pt 0pt; } hr { display:none; } /* Floating part of Page */ #main_content { width: 800px; margin: 0pt auto; background: url(Images/bg_content.jpg) repeat; } #main_content a { color: #000000; text-decoration: underline; } #main_content a:hover { color: #666666; } /* The Top Picture */ #top_area { background: url(Images/CSSHeader.png); height: 433px; width: 100%; } #top_area li { display: block; } #top_area a { color: #FFFFFF; display: block; float: left; padding: 40px 20px 0pt; text-decoration: none; } /* Search Form */ .search { float: right; padding-right: 20px; margin-top: 50px; margin-bottom: 50px; } .search h1 { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 150%; } /* Top Links */ #main_links { /* background-color: #000000; opacity: 0.7; */ width: 800px; margin: 0pt auto; } #main_links ul { list-style-image: none; list-style-position: outside; list-style-type: none; margin-left: 0pt; padding-left: 0pt; } /* Right Side of Floating Page */ #stories { background: transparent url(Images/bg_content.jpg) repeat; width: 535px; padding: 30px; float: right; margin: 0pt auto; } #stories h2 { padding-left: 20px; padding-top: 15px; } /* Left Side */ #left_bar { background: transparent url(Images/bg_content.jpg) repeat; float: left; width: 205px; margin: 0pt auto; } .left { padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 0px; } .left_list { padding: 20px; } .left_list ul li { border-top: 1px solid #CCCCCC; padding: 10px 15px; } #left_bar h1 { background: url(Images/LeftHeaders.png) repeat-x; padding-left: 20px; padding-top: 5px; color: #FFFFFF; } /* Message */ #top_footer { width: 800px; margin: 0pt auto; background-color: #666666; color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 90%; font-weight: bold; padding-top: 4px; padding-bottom: 4px; text-align: center; line-height: 150%; } /* Bottom Links */ #links { width: 800px; margin: 0pt auto; text-align: center; background: #000000; color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 90%; line-height: 160%; padding-top: 8px; padding-bottom: 3px; } #links a, #links a:hover { text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold; } #links .contact { } #links .contact a, #links .contact a:hover { text-decoration: underline; color: #0000CC; } Thanks in advance guys and sorry if this is already posted here, but my brain is frazzled and I couldn't find it with a quick search or three I have two small issues that I can't seem to figure out. I've attached markup and css files to this post and would appreciate a look by someone with css good chops. The first issue is that in I.E. the page displays with the header at the top of the browser window, whereas in Firefox there is a gap. I have set the body, and containing div with zero margin, zero padding, so I'm assuming that the thing should attach itself to the top of the window. The second issue is a curious thing to me. If you look at the style sheet attached, in the content portion of the page, if I remove the top padding from the #content div, i.e. puts a break between the nav bar and the content where the body background shows through. #content { clear: left; padding: 1px 10px; background-color: #FFF; margin: 0; } No issue with firefox. If someone could take a look at these issues and respond I would appreciate it. hey just got a small problem i dont know hw to fix, take a look at my site http://funnyguys99.tripod.com/index.htm if u hover over the links on the left side of the page, the border around them is not even. I want the border to end at the same spot when u hover over them, no matter how many more letters there are in the link. Here's the Css for the left bar, please fix it [CODE] div#menubar { padding-right: 0.5em; padding-left: 0.5em; padding-bottom: 20%; margin: 120px 0px 0px 0px; padding-top: 0.5em; left: 0px; width: 8em; top: 0px; height: auto; position:absolute; background:#FFFFFF; border-right:1px solid black; border-bottom:1px solid black; border-top:1px solid black; } div#menubar ul { padding-left:0px; padding-top:0px; list-style:none; line-height: 85%; margin:0px; } div#menubar a { font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; font-size:0.6em; padding-right:7.5em; padding-top:0px; padding-bottom:0px; } div#menubar a:link { color: #ffa500; } div#menubar a:visited { color:dark red; } div#menubar a:active { font-weight: normal; } div#menubar a:hover { color: white; background:#999999; border:1px solid black; } [CODE] Hi everyone I recently stumbled upon the CSS sprite idea and i've been loving it! Makes changing and adding graphics so much easier. However i've run into a concern. My image sprite is becoming quite large (>150KB) and my HTML code has many divs who's background refers to this sprite (can get upto 100 divs). With this i've started to notice slight sluggishness of my HTML page and got me thinking weather i should divide my large sprite into a number of smaller ones to enhance performance. This is mainly because i have quite a lot of hover effects (which merely shift the background position) and i suspect this is causing the sluggishness and high memory usage. It's far too time consuming to try this myself so i'm wondering if anyone has any experience with such an action. Many thanks http://lovemeforme.org if you notice, right under the main image, you will see the two purple boxes (under the header and above the content and sidebar).. I don't know how to get rid of them. It has to do with the content and sidebar div's, because when I take out the background color it goes away, but... I can't figure out what to do, i've tried everything. Thanks in advance Hello all! I'm new to the community here--it feels great to be a part of an active community where people can give eachother help. I'd consider myself a pretty good Web designer, I mean, I've been doing it for a long time, however, I'm still very new to the concept of CSS. I've used it with rollover links, but never have I used it to design an entire Web page (basically, I've used tables my whole life). Now that I've gotten some practice with CSS by reading books and tutorials, I've put together a start-up page for a computer company that I am a part of. We are a new company and are looking to start off on the right foot by having a killer Web site. So in the past two weeks I've been hand-coding this Web site. http://www.freewebs.com/missaghi As you can see, it's all in CSS! I'm very happy that I've been able to accomplish this, but there is a problem that I've found, and honestly, I've yet to find the cause! If you are using Firefox (and I hope you are, if you're using a PC), you'll notice that the TOP of the paragraphs are CORRECTLY horizontally aligned with the TOP of the navigation links. It looks nice and clean. Now open up the site with Internet Explorer (I know it's hard for some of you, as it is me, heh), and notice how the paragraphs sit lower by about seven or so pixels. Well, if you look at my code, I have forced the margin up by 18 pixels (margin: -18px 0px 0px 140px) in order for my paragraphs to be aligned in Firefox. I COULD have modified it for IE, but meh, I'd rather make sure Firefox is covered since in my opinion, it has the best CSS support. However, my goal is to find out WHY it is acting different in all these browsers, and WHY I need to cheat (using the -18px) in order to make it work. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I'm sorry that this is so long. Regards, Nathan Hi, I've been a close watcher of this forum for some time now, and it's now that I've run into a problem I can't figure out. http://donimusic.com/test/ In the above site (currently in progress), I have made the #ctop and #cbottom divs a height of 2px, yet in IE it displays the height much more and thus creates the image to repeat itself. I can't figure out how to fix this (for view wanted - view in FF). Thank you kindly for your help. Stacey Ok, I have a two column layout. And I'm trying to get the base of the div stacks to match eachother. Here's the stripped down code I've been playing with to try to create this behavior. Code: <div style="width:600px;"> <div style="width:50%; background-color:#66C; float:right; text-align:center;"> <img src="#" width="150" height="300" alt="Fake Content"/><br /> </div> <div style="width:50%; height:150px; background-color:#0F0;">1</div> <div style="width:50%; height:30px; background-color:#C96;">2</div> <div style="width:50%; height:50px; background-color:#CCC;">3</div> <div style="clear:both;"></div> </div> So the size of div #1 is always fixed, #2 contains dynamic content, and #3 is fixed content but I would like the height of #3 to stretch to match the right column when needed. For the right column, the content is dynamic, and I would like it to stretch to match the bottom of #3 when needed. So basically, the height of both column will vary and I'd like the shorter of the 2 to stretch. I looked around and experimented a bit with some success, but not exactly the behavior I was looking for. The things that have been giving me the most trouble, is that the left column consists of 3 divs, and the right column is floated. From the left, I could probably get away with removing the content from #1 from it's div and let it hang out in the parent div, but the other two really need their own containers. Also, I don't know how else to put the right column on the right side other than to use a float or absolute position (and absolute won't expand the parent div) because both columns are dynamic... Anyhow, I'm searching for suggestions. One thing that sucks is I know this would be a non issue using tables, but this is a page layout and I'm not about to cave now. Building a online store website... If you go here, you can see my problem. My problem is, when the product title is longer than a single line, then it moves the transparent box down. I need the transparent box to move up. If anyone can help, thanks! im making a panel with rounded corners just 4 divs , topLeft, topRight etc... i have them inside 1 container div that is 80% width, the 4 corner div's are all 50% width and 50% height it's all floated left and theres a <BR> between the top en bottom section but it works only in firefox...in IE they just line up below eachother unless i make the width of them 49%....so wheres the 1 ****ing % ? |
