CSS - How To Change The Current Menu Link Color?
Hi,
Is there any way to change the color of the menu text for that current page? For example when I'm on the 'About Us' page on my website, I want the text to be blue or #00175d to be precise. I am not very good at coding or editing HTML/CSS, so I don't know how to do this. All I know is that my website has a class on the body, and each menu item has a unique ID. My website is: http://firstcareambulance .org/ Any help is appreciated. Thanks Similar TutorialsI'm trying to create a hover effect that changes the background color behind a link, but instead of ending with the text, the color change extends to the width of the div. It's hard to explain, so here's an example: checkout the sidebar at pastemagazine.com. I've tried dissecting their source code, but they have about 5 different stylesheets and it's really hard to follow. As far as I can tell, this is what makes the hover effect and I just can't figure out how they make the background color change extend beyond the text. I have my links in a ul just as they do and they don't seem to be doing anything else special. Code: #sect1 ul.stories a:hover{ background-color:#d9f7ff; color: #71808F; } Thanks! cae I am trying to edit a CSS that was set up by someone else - never done this before, using Dreamweaver. I wanted the links to be a darker blue on baykeeper DOT org, so I changed the code in both homepage.css and subpage.css, the two style sheets for our website. There appears to be only one place to specify link color in each style sheet: a:link { color: #004B91; text-decoration: none; } a:visited { color: #004B91; text-decoration: none; } a:active { color: #004B91; text-decoration: none; } a:hover { text-decoration: underline; If you look at baykeeper DOT org/index.html which is drawing from homepage.css, only the main content has dark blue links. The side column does not. On any other page (drawing from subpage.css) the links are still the same color. I have checked in the .css files and refreshed the pages but clearly I'm missing something... My questions a 1. Is there some other way to set link color in CSS? I don't see any other places where I could change the color, but maybe I don't know where to look. 2. I had a similar problem with the favicon - I updated the template but it didn't apply to all the pages equally. Why is that? Is there some way to refresh individual pages' connections to the templates? Mysterious to me. 3. Once I figure this stuff out, the bottom nav links will be invisible because the darker blue will blend in - so that's a location where I *want* the link color to be different (white). How do I control the link color in different sections of the layout? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Hi. I am having dificulty getting a menu item to change colour and background colour when mouse over http://www.des-otoole.co.uk/HC2010/holidayclub.php any reason as it is at the end of the style sheet code Code: #tabnav a:hover { background: #bfbfbf; color: #f05320; } Alright - so I just changed my Java Script based navigation menu over to a CSS based menu for better search engine crawling and easy of use. Here's what I want, and can't seem to do: The original font color of a the links is "white". Easy enough. When you mouse over the link it turns light grey. Looks great! This part works wonders. Here's the problem...When you visit a page in the navigation, the "hover: change color to grey" doesn't work anymore. Instead of remains solid white. Is there a fix/trick to making it work so that always always when you hover over these links they change to grey. Whether the link is active, or already visited, it turns grey during hover. Thank for your help! To see this in action visit Window Film and More.com and take a look at the left navigation. I am a chef by trade, but am re-doing my website for a better online experience for my clients. I want to keep my same css coding, but for the life of me, I cannot change the active menu page to a different background to show the current active page...please help and thanks! Cheers ~Kat Menu bar at: (cater-express dot com) Hello Is there a way i can restore my <a href> link back to its original color, that is before the a:visited event, when I click on another link? PS. no Javascript code needed, is their an alternative in css? I have a menu at the bottom of my page and want the menu item to be highlighted when the visitor is on that particular page so they know where they are. I want to embed this on a couple of pages because I have built a top level menu with drop downs using p7's Pop Menu Magic. Those menu items are highlighted when one is on a certain page. I don't know if I can do this by embedding. Could someone help me please. To see the example go to: www.coloradofoxden.com/deckscapes/index.html. The links at the bottom are what I am trying to fix. Thanks. I have a css list menu which uses background images in place of bullets. What I'd like is for the user to visit the 'about' page and have the 'about' links background image be different from the rest. So the user can see from looking at the menu, what page they are on. Anyone able to suggest any methods of doing this? Would be appreciated =D I'm trying to use Eric Meyer's css tabbed navbar to navigate a form. It works, except that I can't seem to get the navbar to indicate the current tab by changing the tab background and bottom border to white. I've been reading and trying different css commands, but haven't been successful. I'm including my html and css below and would appreciate any help. I am attaching an html page that has a navigation bar that changes the background color of the table cell when you mouse over the text link. It works OK but I would like to have the bg color change when you mouse over the td cell. I am currently making it look like it changes the td background by adding Code: display: block; line-height: 32px; to the "td.navbar a:hover" class. Is it possible to change the td background when mousing over it using only css? I'm trying to build a website with a menu that changes the source of an iFrame. So I have: Code: <html> <body> <div>**MENU**</div> <div><iframe id="contentFrame" src="home.htm"></iframe></div> </body> </html> Clicking a menu item, say "Contact Us", changes the src of the iFrame using: Code: <a href="javascript:document.getElementById('contentFrame').src='ContactUs.htm'">Contact Us</a> The menu is pure CSS, with each item underlining as it's rolled over, and some submenus that show up when hovering. What I'm looking to do is have the selected menu item have a different text color. So when you click "Contact Us", that item will change color and stay that other color while navigating the ContactUs.htm page in the iFrame. Is that even remotely do-able? I saw some examples where you use body classes and id's to match the id of the menu item to the body class of the related page. However, I think that would require loading completely separate pages (with the same menu, header, and footer code). I want to avoid the entire page flickering when changing content. I don't seem to be able to access the body class value of the page being loaded in the iFrame. Is that possible to do? Thanks for any guidance you all could offer.
