CSS - Ie Custom Css Border Problems
I've been wrapping my head around how to apply a border at the bottom of an image, using the following:
.menupic:link { border-top: 0px solid #ffffff; border-right: 0px solid #ffffff; border-bottom: 0px solid #ffffff; border-left: 0px solid #ffffff; } .menupic:hover { border-top: 0px solid #ffffff; border-right: 0px solid #ffffff; border-bottom: 4px solid #ffffff; border-left: 0px solid #ffffff; } It works fine in Mozilla, but I just cannot get the hover to work in IE, unless the border is completely solid and 1px+ for all a: states (kinda defeats what I'm trying to do), and it also works if I add float:left/right (which also is no good, as that messes up my design). Anybody found a css work around this problem? Similar TutorialsHello, I'm working on converting my current table layout into strictly a CSS Layout . I've managed to get everything (layout wise at least...) displaying properly except for my right border. This is a small 30px x 1px drop shadow. I've been working with it for a few hours now, and I can't seem to get the image to even show up. Here is my CSS code: Code: #container { background-color: #726554; width: 791px; text-align: left; margin: 0 auto; } #top { position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 791px; height: 145px; vertical-align: top; } #content { background: #726554 url(PHP/img/right.jpg) right repeat-y; margin-top: 30px; width: 496px; text-align: left; vertical-align: top; float: left; } #content p { color: #f1f1f1; font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 13px; margin: 0 0 10px 12px; } #content .date { display: block; color: #ff9100; font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 13px; font-weight: bold; } #left { vertical-align: top; float: left; width: 265px; height: 671px; } #contact { clear: both; background: #726554 url(PHP/img/right.jpg) right repeat-y; font-size: 13px; font-family: Tahoma; text-align: center; } I don't think you'll need any HTML code for this problem, but let me know if you do! Thanks in advance, Jason Is it possible to specify a custom image for a border style? hello, i'm having a problem with the border on one of divs. the name of the div is content2. Depending on what I set the width to, it looks fine in IE or Firefox, one or the other. I used an image for the top and one for the bottom. I did the linkbanner on the left the same way, and that one worked fine. Anyone have any idea why i'm having this problem?? thanks, *j Hi: I am using an image as the background in a <td> tag. Also, that <td> tag has a border on the top and bottom. When viewing this page in FF, the border sits perfectly against the image (and the <td> tag). When viewing this in garbage IE, there is a pixel line between the image and the border. What is the problem? What is the fix to get the borders to sit perfectly on the image? Here is the style for the <td> with id="header" Code: #header { background: #FFF; background-image: url(include/head.jpg); background-repeat: no-repeat; height: 136px; width: 100%; background-position: right; border-top: 1px solid #999; border-bottom: 1px solid #999; } And here is the <td> Code: <table id="main"> <tr> <td id="header"> <ul id="nav"> <li><a href="">Home</a></li> <li><a href="">Benefits</a></li> <li><a href="">FAQ</a></li> <li><a href="">About</a></li> <li><a href="">Pay Your Bill</a></li> <li><a href="">Contact</a></li> </ul> </td> </tr> </table> Thanks in advance. Link: http://www.wiu.edu/users/mujas2/test/ Also, if anyone has an idea about those tabs, let me know! Thanks in advance, please ask if further info is needed! Problem 1: I specified #pic with a height of 176px and a border of 1px. The total height should be 178px, correct? Measuring it with my handy web developer ruler, it only measures 176px tall, including the border or 174px excluding the borders. Why would this occur? Aren't borders supposed to go around an element not be included in the element? This occurs in both Firefox and IE. Problem 2: Same problem area as above, except I'm attempting to add 3px left and bottom margin around several #pic. Using my trusty ruler again, I'm getting a margin of only 1px around my #pic's. Instead, it appears that the margin is including the 1px border from the two #pics, totaling 3px. This only occurs in Firefox though, IE renders it as I would have guessed. This means that the .right content doesn't line up in either IE or Firefox, depending on which one I correct it for. Below is a picture to explain what I'm attempting to say. Here is the code (sorry I'm building it for a friend and he is working on a host -- so its local only): Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "(URL address blocked: See forum rules)"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <style type="text/css"> body { background-color: #615947; } #container { width: 800px; margin: 10px auto; color: #333; } #nav { } #navcontainer { padding: 0; height: 35px; } #navcontainer ul { border: 0; margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style-type: none; text-align: center; } #navcontainer ul li { display: block; float: left; text-align: center; padding: 0; margin: 0; width: 154px; height: 16px; } #navcontainer ul li a { position:relative; background: #AE0000; border-top: 1px solid #000000; border-left: 1px solid #000000; border-bottom: 1px solid #000000; border-right: 1px solid #000000; padding: 8px; margin: 0 0 0 0; color: #f5d7b4; text-decoration: none; display: block; text-align: center; font: 13px/15px Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-weight:bold; } #top { background-color: #AD9F7F; background-image: url(<a href="(URL address blocked: See forum rules)" rel="nofollow">(URL address blocked: See forum rules)</a>); background-repeat: no-repeat; height: 150px; width: 767px; margin-bottom: 3px; } .left { display:inline; border: 1px solid black; background-color: #fff; float: left; width: 385px; margin-bottom: 3px; padding: 0; margin-right: 3px; } #updates { height:539px; } #topleft { margin: 0px; height: 14em; border-bottom: 1px solid black; } #topleft h3 { background-color: #9E9E9E; margin: 0px; color: white; font-family: sans-serif; padding-left: 12px; font-size: 12px; } #bottomleft { height: 309px; margin: 0px; overflow: auto; } #bottomleft h3 { background-color: #9E9E9E; margin: 0px; color: white; font-family: sans-serif; padding-left: 12px; font-size: 12px; } .right { margin-left: 385px; padding: 0; width: auto; background-color: #615947; } .pic { width: 186px; height: 176px; margin: 0px 3px 3px 0px; border: 1px solid black; float: left; background-color: #616161; } #footer { clear: both; margin: 0; color: #333; background-color: #AD9F7F; border: 1px solid black; width: 767px; } </style> <title>CSS</title> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <div id="top"></div> <div id="navcontainer"> <ul> <li><a href="#">HOME</a></li> <li><a href="#">THE ARTIST</a></li> <li><a href="#">GALLERY</a></li> <li><a href="#">GUESTBOOK</a></li> <li><a href="#">CONTACT</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="left"> <div id="topleft"> <h3>Welcome</h3> </div> <div id="bottomleft"> <h3>Daves daily news</h3> <p> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut. </p> </div> </div> <div class="right"> <div class="pic"></div> <div class="pic"></div> <div class="pic"></div> <div class="pic"></div> <div class="pic"></div> <div class="pic"></div> </div> <div id="footer">footer</div> </div> </body> </html> Image link http://lh5.ggpht.com/_zKwoPOwgFUM/SyNwWAxR0ZI/AAAAAAAAAKI/CzOKCNVox3E/prob.jpg Hi, I have a list that shows the photo and some personal data of people. Here it is: http://www.tiregarfio.byethost17.co...ev.php/miembros username: fer password: m I you load it with FF, you can see clearly I have added a green line that separate each member (border-bottom: solid 1px #A9F16C). This line in IE6 is not between each member but below the personal data. Here it is the styles: Code: div.miembro { overflow: hidden; clear: both; border-bottom: solid 1px #A9F16C; } div.fotografia { float:left; } Any idea? Javi Basically I'm trying to set up a simple navigation with CSS as the tabs. My problem is this: 1. The off buttons I want to keep grey line at bottom, the on I want to remove the grey line so it appears to be part of the current page. 2. The left and right borders. I don't want them to be 2 pixels, however i'm having trouble figuring out how to always have them be 1 pixel (not 1 + 1 = 2) Thanks! Here what my code does: http://www.hward.com/test.html Here is how I'd like it to look: http://www.hward.com/want.gif I'm trying to set up an IFRAME with a 1px solid border, no beveling - etc. It looks flawless in Mozilla, but no matter what I try... I cannot get IE to interpret the code properly. Here's what I have so far: Code: iframe { border: solid 1px #727272; height: 445px; width: 100%; padding: 0px; } Everything works fine in IE except for the border, which looks beveled and ugly, like a default frameborder Can someone please teach me how to overcome this? Thanks in advance! Thanks for your time. Still learning design, so thanks for your help if they are easy solutions. Border Issue: In IE and FF I have a complete border on a few header div's. The bottom and top border is different color than the left and right borders. You can see that the dark brown bottom and top borders appear to lay overtop of the white left and right borders. Website is he http://onlinecasinoboss.true2formde...e.php?page=home Styling CSS is he http://onlinecasinoboss.true2formde...aster-style.css Layout CSS is he http://onlinecasinoboss.true2formde...ster-layout.css IE Layout Issue: In FF the three center content columns display how I want it to look. When you view the same home.html page in IE you can see that they don't space out how I'd like. It is most visible by compairing the boxes on the right of the center content. Thanks a ton for your time and help, I appreciate it. I'm having some problems with CSS. If you look at the pictures below, the first is a screenshot of what it is supposed to look like. It's how it looks in most browsers. The second one, however, is how it looks in IE 6 on Windows and IE 5 on the Mac. It is wrong. Correct look Incorrect look I want to know how to fix this. The little colored boxes are supposed to be squares and have solid borders on them. The shape is off and the borders are missing on the IE version. Also, on the progress bar, there is not supposed to be space between the cells but there is. There is also space between every cell on the page and there is not supposed to be any. Here is my main CSS: Code: body { background-color: #FFFFFF; } a { text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold; } a:link { color: #003366; background-color: transparent; } a:visited { color: #003300; background-color: transparent; } a:active { color: #339933; background-color: transparent; } a:hover { text-decoration: underline; } table { border: 1px solid black; border-collapse: separate; border-spacing: 0px;} td, th { border: 0px solid black; padding: 5px; text-align: center; white-space: nowrap; } tr.one { background-color: #FFFFFF; } tr.two { background-color: #DDDDDD; } table.squares { border: 0px; border-spacing: 1px; width: 50px; height: 10px; } td.square { border: 1px solid grey; padding: 4px; } td.nopadding { padding: 0px; } .default { font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px; color: #000000; } .h1 { font-size: 200%; font-weight: bold; text-align: center;} .h2 { font-size: 120%; font-weight: bold; } .h3 { font-weight: bold; } .step { font-size: 150%; font-weight: bold; color: #999999; } Here is one of the sets of squares: Code: <table class="squares"> <tr> <td class="square" style="background-color: #CCCC66"></td> <td class="square" style="background-color: #CC9966"></td> <td class="square" style="background-color: #990000; border: black"><td> <td class="square" style="background-color: #669966"></td> <td class="square" style="background-color: #669999"></td> </tr> </table> And finally, here is one of my progress bars: Code: <table style="color: white; width: 100px"> <tr> <td style="padding:0px; text-align: right; padding-right: 5px; background-color:#222244; width:41px"></td> <td style="padding:0px; text-align: left; padding-left: 5px; background-color:#666666; width:59px">40.7%</td> </tr> </table> And in case that code is not enough, here is a link to the full HTML. According to this CSS test my CSS is not wrong. So does IE just suck? Is there something I can do to make it work in all browsers? My last question is, should I be using div tags for my boxes and progress bars instead of tables? I couldn't figure out how to make them work with divs so I just went with what I knew. Could someone give me an example of each using divs so I can learn how to make it work? Hi. Have created some simple tabs using table cells. Active tab should have bottom-border color equal to page background-color. Non-active tabs should have bottom-border=black. Works fine in IE, but does not work very well in Firefox. If I remove the border-collapse:collapse on the table, then firefox also work... but I would like to be able to keep the 1px border between each table cell. So is there a way to make this work in both IE and Firefox... and hopefully most other browsers... See code below: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> a.menu_top:link {color: #000000; text-decoration: none;} a.menu_top:visited {color: #000000; text-decoration: none;} a.menu_top:hover {color: #000000; text-decoration: none;} a.menu_top:active {color: #000000; text-decoration: none;} td.menu_top_passive { background-color: #777; border-left: 1px #000000 solid; border-right: 1px #000000 solid; border-top: 1px #000000 solid; border-bottom: 1px #000000 solid; text-align: center; cursor:pointer; font-weight: bold; padding: 5px 20px 5px 20px; margin: 0; } td.menu_top_active { background-color: #bbb; border-left: 1px #000000 solid; border-right: 1px #000000 solid; border-top: 1px #000000 solid; border-bottom: 1px #bbb solid; text-align: center; cursor:pointer; font-weight: bold; padding: 5px 20px 5px 20px; margin: 0; } </style> <script language="JavaScript"> function change(id, url) { for (i=1; i<6; i++){ eval("document.getElementById("+i+").className='menu_top_passive'"); } eval("document.getElementById("+id+").className='menu_top_active'"); } </script> </head> <body style="margin:0; padding:0; background-color:#bbb;"> <br><br> <center> 1. It had to do with the DIV's CSS's border-style. If you set it to double then you notice some random bugs with it. Some of the time, the border is displayed without a problem. Some of the time, it is displayed with some gaps in the line as if it is not being drawn upon. Some of the other time, it is not displayed at all. I noticed if I switch from one tab to another then back, the border appeared as if nothing had happened. I also noticed that if I open the view source that overlapp the web browser then closed it, the border appeared as if nothing had happened. How do you fix that problem? Thanks... I would like to set up a table with a different border than the cells inside it. Here's my code: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> TABLE {border: 1px solid black; border-collapse: collapse; width: 200px} TD {border: 1px solid #ccc} </style> </head> <body> <table> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> That's all hunky dory in (gasp!) IE, but good browsers...they only show the lighter gray color. How do I get the table border to be different? Hi, This used to be my solution: Code: <table border=1 bordercolorlight='#CCCCCC' Bordercolordark='#FFFFFF'> But this only works well on IE - not Mozilla Now I want to use CSS: Code: .results { border: 1px solid #CCCCCC ; } Code: <table class='results'> --------------- The problem is, with CSS, only the TABLE acquires the border property. The cells within it don't. If I specify Code: <td class='results'> for all the cells in the table, this also won't work, because the cell borders overlap each other and some border lines seem thicker than others (because of overlapping). Is there any simple way I can specify the border property for the table - in ONE declaration? I want the table and td borders all to be a simple 1px width ...is that possible in one declaration? Thanks a lot! How do you create an inner border around a table in css, rather than a "solid" border which creates a border line around the table on the outer half. The border needs to butt up against an image, rather than leaving a pixel space. This is the coder I have so far. Nothing big: Code: .solid { border: solid 1px #000000; } Thanks. I am new to coding so dont make fun of me or anything if this is stupid.. I'm coding my own tumblr right now, and it looks pretty good so far. I just dont know the code to make an image 'static' and stay at the top. If you take a look (hockey-lax-bro.tumblr.com/) you will see what i mean. The follow button and picture on the right 'follow' you wherever you scroll. Code: <div style="position:right;5px:top;25px"> <a href="https;||twitter.***/J_Harris012" class="twitter-follow-button" data-show-count="false" data-size="large" data-show-screen-name="false">Follow @J_Harris012</a> <script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="//platform.twitter.***/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");</script> </div> <div style="position:right;30px:top;55px"> <a href="http;||i42.tinypic.***/2ai0etj.***" target="_blank"> <img class="normal" src="http;||i46.tinypic.***/15o8nj9.***" alt="install theme" /> </a> </div> Thats the coding that i have right now ^^ (i had to change a few things because new members are not allowed to post links) what do i need to change to make the buttons stay at the top? Hi, I'm trying to make my own custom CSS for Internet Explorer to load when I visit the www.tv.com site. How do I go about making it domain specific? Is there an IE alternative to Firefox's @-moz-document domain("tv.com") method? I am developing a web site, panopticinsight dot com. The header/banner looks fine in Firefox. In IE7 and Opera, the H2 subtitle is left aligned over the globe image. In IE6 content jumps outside of container. Anyone know why there is a shift, and what I can do about it? Style sheet code pasted below: Code: body { width:800px; font:0.83em/1.4em Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif; color:#CBD4E3; background:#000 url(images/body_bg.gif) repeat-y top center; letter-spacing:1px; margin:0 auto; } h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6 { font-family:"Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-style:italic; font-weight:bold; color:#e9df55; background-color:#000; } h2 { font-size:2em; } h3 { font-size:1.5em; } h4 { font-size:1.25em; } a:link { color:#8090AC; text-decoration:none; } a:visited { color:#B17F6C; text-decoration:none; } a:hover { color:#E9DF55; text-decoration:underline; } a:active { color:#E9DF55; text-decoration:none; } #container { width:760px; margin:0 auto; } #header { height:200px; width:760px; margin:0; padding:0; } #banner { height:100%; width:100%; color:#cbd4e3; background:#000 url(images/header_bg.jpg) no-repeat top left; margin:0 auto; padding:0; } #banner h1 { font-size:400%; color:#CBD4E3; background-color:transparent; float:left; display:inline; margin:0; padding:70px 0 70px 280px; } #banner h2 { font-size: 12pt; color: #e9df55; background-color:transparent; text-indent: 200pt; vertical-align: text-bottom; } navigate{ color : #105BAC; background-color : transparent; height : 20px; font-size: 100%; border-top : 1px solid #999999; } #navigate ul { list-style-type: none; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 150px; margin-right: 0px; padding: 2px 0 0 0; } #navigate ul li { display: inline; } td { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } th { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } p { font-size: 14px; color: #FFFFFF; left: 50px; right: 50px; } #main { width: 660px; padding-right: 50px; padding-left: 50px; } #footer { font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: 9px; color: #666666; height: 100px; width: 760px; vertical-align: text-bottom; text-align: center; } #SplashImage { float: left; } .image-left { clear: none; margin-bottom: 10px; float: left; margin-right: 20px; margin-left: 10px; } .image-right { clear: none; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; float: right; } I was wondering if there was a way to have a chapter listing in a OL or UL. I want to be able to have "Chapter <i>:" as the list style where <i> is the increment. is this possible. I thought I saw that somewhere floating around, but i can't seem to find it. thanks in advance. Ive seen some sites using fonts i dont have on my computer how is this done and whats it called ? any help would be great. |
