Just curious to know if my stylesheet is becoming huge, is it better to break it down into multiple sheets or not? Does a huge css page make any difference in loading time if it is being reference outside the html?

On my site I have this on the <head>

It doesn't happen all the time but like once in a while when the css isn't in my cache my page loads without the stylesheet and like half a second later, the stylesheet loads. I was under the impression that this was the purpose of putting things in the <head> of the html document, so they could load beefore anything else. Anyone ever have these issues?

This stylesheet was developed by volunteers (local students) who weren't asked to design for cross-browser compatibility.

In FF and Netscape the background CSS 'runs out' before the content does (problematic with black background) and there isn't any space between objects (adjoining columns, text etc.).

Because I need to make the fix asap (and I am not well versed in CSS for layout) my options here are a) pay my ISP web team to make the adjustments, b) redesign site templates using tables (which I can do, but I know is regressing) or c) get some specific feedback from you folks. The code does not validate (re. W3C CSS Validator) but I'm not experienced enough in this to know how to fix it.

In the long-term, I am definitely looking to improve my knowledge in this area and appreciate your patience with me.

Hey guys, please help me out with this, I missed the last day of css in my class and I'm confused, and right now I'm working on my final project.

I'm kinda confused, I want to do a few things from an external stylesheet but I think I have the code wrong. PLEASE HELP!

Alternate Stylesheet Not Inheriting Rules From Default Stylesheet

Hiya, theres a website I'm creating a print stylesheet for which includes the company logo in the header, with a footer of contact details. problem is, the website is all static pages and 100 odd pages, so as I'm having to deal with the static state of the site for now, is there a way I can have in the Print stylesheet or in the CSS where the logo can be inserted in a header and a footer created with text? hope this makes sense?

I'm fairly new at web development and pretty much a newbie at using CSS. I noticed on foxnews.com that they use a parameter with the CSS file. I've did searches on this but not turned up alot.

Hey,

I've run into a problem where I though i knew how to do it an easy way but it only worked for about 5 minutes.

Here is what I have. All of my pages have the same navigation from an external PHP file. The style is saved in the main.css stylesheet. When you select a link it gets a background image.

I thought that I could save my self having to edit every page for IE by doing this in the main.css stylesheet

Hi people,

I am completely new to programming and have only spent this weekend learning it!

I have managed to create a decent website already, however i am stuck at a point. On my main page, i have attached a CSS stylesheet with all the formatting for my page. My problem however is that when i try to format one section (<div id="gallery">) the formatting messes with the rest of the page.

Is there a way that i can assign a style sheet to only that <div id="gallery"> without it applying to the entire html page.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi guys,

Having some problems with this site -- it validates ok but as you will
see the tables are displaying way off.

In Firefox -- the second td with the text is displaying underneath the
first td instead of alongside it

in IE -- the second td has a huge indent before the text, and the list isnt showing the bullet points

It's frustrating me hard as it was working the other night, and now I open it again something is wrong and i've no idea what I changed.

Any ideas?
