CSS - Problem With Bg Colours
Hi.
I've got an element in my CSS such as: PHP Code: .footer { width: 760px; background-color: Aqua; } I'm trying to use it in a table to have the table take on the properties of the .footer element. Currently I'm using it like this: PHP Code: <TABLE class="footer" ALIGN="CENTER" BORDER=0 CELLPADDING=2> <tr><td>MY CONTENT</td></tr></table> Should the bg of the table not be what I set in the CSS element??? Similar TutorialsHi, Is there a way to tell the browser to replace certain colours with other colours? For example replace #FF0000 with #00FF00? Also is there anyway to refer to the parent of an element? Thanks, Matthew Hi, Why does the following not change my scrollbar colours? PHP Code: body { font: 14px Arial, sans-serif; color: #18387B; background: #687BA3; margin-top: 5px; margin-left: 5px; SCROLLBAR-FACE-COLOR: #FF9900; SCROLLBAR-HIGHLIGHT-COLOR: #FF9900; SCROLLBAR-SHADOW-COLOR: #999999; SCROLLBAR-3DLIGHT-COLOR: #FFFFFF; SCROLLBAR-ARROW-COLOR: #000000; SCROLLBAR-TRACK-COLOR: #000000; SCROLLBAR-DARKSHADOW-COLOR: #666666; } how can i colour the scroll bars on my page - i.e. the ones when you have to scroll up and down the page, but also, the ones used within form elements such as drop down lists. I have tried using css, but to no avail. My page consists of two frames - one on the left and one on the right. Thankyou. Hi everyone! I am having a problem with some missing colours and images in firefox. I have validated my XHTML 1.0 and CSS as OK. It looks correct in IE 6.0 but not in FF, i am sure someone will know the answer straight away! address is http://www.wellandpower.net charlie Hi, I use blog software (Wordpress) to run my site and this allows me to use different themes. I have created three themes that are exactly the same except for the colours used. I would like to seperate the layout definitions from the colour definitions so that I can call the layout css on all of them and then call the required colour css. I have tried taking out all references to colour and then putting those references into a new css and then calling that but unfortunately it didn't work. I am presuming that some definitions require more than just colours. Can somebody help seperate the layout from the colours for me? I'm sure there are other "issues" with the css, so if anything else is bad please let me know. I have attached the relevant css as a text file. TIA Phillip That's about the height of it. I have been trying to pick colours for the site I'm playing with. I can't find any pastal (my preference - not necessarily the best, I'm still learning) colours I like in the Web Safe Colours. So, I started snooping around the internet . . . mostly to find out how bad it is that I'm not considering IE 5.x when developing. I found this information at Upsdell: Browser News and it appears to be dated Nov 19th 2005. It suggests that ~1% are restricted to the 256 colours. Is this site reputable for information accuracy and is it reasonable to conclude that web safe colours are a thing of the past? Cheers! Hi Everyone. I'm a new member and so please forgive me if I don't immediately understand all the jargon. However I have a problem and I was hoping someone might be able to help. I have searched the web and W3 schools but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I am using strict HTML with an external CSS style sheet. I have a several paged website I am creating for part of a University assignment. I have several links which have 3 colours for 3 states. Link, visited and highlight. These work perfectly. (For me anyway). I have now been told to remove 'circular references'. I understand this to be; If I am on the 'Home' page, then 'Home' is no longer a link. (The cursor turns to a text bar instead of a hand) I have removed href from the html to stop this happening. leaving just <a>Home</a> This is fine, however, the colours that I specified in the css now no longer apply and the text is just black. I have followed the instructions in the web pages that I have seen to retain the colours, or add them to an inline style sheet, but nothing seems to work. I can only achieve adding one colour (but not making it change when visited or hovering) or changing the colour of ALL links. Sorry if this is confusing.. I hope someone can help! The relevent code is below. HTML <head> <style type="text/css"> .homebut a:link {color: red;} .homebut a:visited {color: purple;} .homebut a:hover {color: orange;} <!--none of the above seems to work--> </style> </head> <body> <div class="homebut"> <a>Home</a> </div> CSS /*This is applied to all links but doesn't work when I remove HREF from the HTML*/ a:link { COLOR: #0099FF; text-decoration:none;} a:visited { COLOR: #00FFFF; } a:hover { COLOR: #FFFFFF; } Hi guys i am lost big time. ive spend well over 10 hours trying to think, try, to solve this problem. i have got 6 Horizontal CSS Dropdown Menu to make but each one of them must have there own colours , green, blue, yellow, pink etc. and in that the hover colour must match the colour menu that your on at the time i.e be slightly darker. any ideas on how i would do this its driving me mad, ive tryed classes, divs java but am just getting no where Hi, I'm having trouble with changing the colour of link, vlink and alink in a webpage layer. I use CSS to set the colours in the main page body tag but am unable to change the colour of the hyperlinks in a layer on the same page to a different set of colours. This causes some of links to be unreadable and i'd like to be able to change the colours of the links in the layer but keep the colours on the main webpage. Anyone got any idea how to do this?. Is CSS the way to go?. The website is written in PHP if that makes any difference. Many thanks for any help. Hi there, I have set up some scollbar colours for IE. I have some scrollable divs that are using the css, but the main scrollbar to the right of the browser does not have the css applied to it. This is my css: PHP Code: scrollbar-arrow-color: #ffffff; scrollbar-3dlight-color: #d4e5ab; scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #517107; scrollbar-face-color: #719e07; scrollbar-highlight-color: #add450; Any ideas why that is? Hey, I think i just need someone else to look at this for me. I've been coding all day and would probably be able to figure this out if I just went to bed and did it tomorrow. If you roll over an image that's alson an anchor at www.deeperdevotion.com/wp, you'll find that it places a background-color or underline or both on it. The thing is, I can't find the code in my CSS that's causing me the trouble. my css is located at www.deeperdevotion.com/wp/wp-content/themes/dd/styles/101106.css Thanks. Hello everyone, I am hoping I could get some help on this. I'm the new Marketing guy at this company. One of my duties is to fix an issue with our website which was built by the last guy to sit in this chair. I may not know how to build a proper webpage, but this guy knew exactly how not to do it and ran with just that. So, the issue lies within this example page: tinyurl.com/rediculouswebsite The footer ends up under-lapping the table when viewed in IE (when not in compatibility mode) and Firefox. I know this is a ridiculously constructed site, I just need to fix this one problem and be done with web development forever. High fives and scotch from my boss very well may ensue. Thank you all very much. Hello. I am new at css and web design so if these are easy problems please excuse. First of all, the website url http://www.onlinecasinoboss.com In Firefox, the unordered lists <ul> in the left column do not display correctly. The left margin is way too big. I'm not sure why, please look at the page in IE to see what I want it to look like. And in Internet Explorer, the spacing between my top image, header bar, and main page is screwy. There should be no space between the header image and header bar (the flags are in this area). Also there should only be 2px spacing between the header and the main page, however it appears there is atleast 24px there. Again please refer to the page in FF to see what I want it to look like. I like css, and have decided to pursue my first design in css based off of the many professional designers reconmendations and reviews. But I must say it is a major headache to deal with cross-browser/platform display problems. And what professional designer wants to rely on 'css-hacks' when producing a product for a major vender. Just beginner bitching. Thanks for the help! Any suggestions. thank you. <div id="mytabsmenu" class="tabsmenuclass"> <span style="cursorointer"> <ul> <li><a rel="gotsubmenu[selected]">Trust Applications</a></li> <li><a rel="gotsubmenu">General Applications</a></li> </ul> </span> </div> <div id="mysubmenuarea" title="Applications Toolbar" align="center" style=" background-image:url(/templates/default/IconImages/iconBkgrd.jpg); background-position:top; background-repeat:no-repeat; margin:2px; padding-top:12px; padding-left:30px; vertical-align:bottom; height:50px;"> <!--1st link within submenu container should point to the external submenu contents file--> <a href="/templates/default/js/submenucontents.htm" style="visibility:hidden">Sub Menu contents</a> </div> I'm not too sure what the problem is here but you will notice that my <div> that has the page title in doesn't align to the top of the wrapper <div>. How do I do this? To see what I mean, go he allwhatsrock.com/articles/new.php Hi, I am having an issue using my CSS code, I have a drop down section on my menu bar on my site. I'm trying to firstly just set the background of the whole bar, Code: #nav-m { font: normal 12px Verdana; font-weight: bold; width: 100%; } #nav-m ul { float: left; left: 0; padding: 2px 0; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 5px; } #nav-m a { display: block; width: 10em; w\idth: 6em; color: #012345; text-decoration: none; padding: 0.25em 2em; } #nav-m a.daddy { } #nav-m li { float: left; padding: 0; background-image: url(http://taxbusters.eu.com/images/nav-bar1.jpg); background-repeat: no-repeat; } #nav-m li ul { position: absolute; left: -999em; height: auto; width: 14.4em; w\idth: 13.9em; font-weight: normal; border-width: 0.25em; margin: 0; } #nav-m li li { padding-right: 1em; width: 13em } #nav-m li ul a { width: 13em; w\idth: 9em; } #nav-m li ul ul { margin: -1.75em 0 0 14em; } #nav-m li:hover ul ul, #nav-m li:hover ul ul ul, #nav-m li.sfhover ul ul, #nav-m li.sfhover ul ul ul { left: -999em; } #nav-m li:hover ul, #nav-m li li:hover ul, #nav-m li li li:hover ul, #nav-m li.sfhover ul, #nav-m li li.sfhover ul, #nav-m li li li.sfhover ul { left: auto; } #nav-m li:hover, #nav-m li.sfhover { background: #bdd7e6; } however the background doesnt show up, and the font alignment isnt right, - there are so many problems http://alturl.com/nfkp I am sorry, I can't show the page as an example as it is a clients website. Basically the problem is the box model (I think). In IE the background file loads fine, but in FF it doesn't. It is a box inside a box, inside a box. I have tried body #divname html # divname html > divname and all other selector variants I can think of to no avail. I was wondering if this is a known problem. I thought it might be z-indexing but div's inside the affected div are picking up their background images. I am currently trying to build a website for a church, and have run into a little css coding problem: It seems as if the browser is not interpreting how I see the CSS code to lay out on the page (common mistake I'm sure). I know a lot of the problems I am having comes from the height of my id's. If you take a look at "sci.tamucc.edu/~ksnapka/Website/Home/index.php" , the blue-bordered box is my "bodyWrap" css id. I am wanting this to expand to 100% of its contents inside the div container. If you look under some of the pages under "Our Faith in Action", I believe these work fine because I am using text inside of the bodyWrap container instead of other div containers nested in bodyWrap. The display on the home page actually looks better on IE, so I'm also not sure why firefox sets the height of that contained to 0 (I assume for some reason it sees that the container is empty since it just has other divs located inside of it?) The CSS code is on "sci.tamucc.edu/~ksnapka/Website/CSS/csTemplates.css" Any help is greatly appreciated Thank you in advance. So I have tested in all versions of IE and IE 7 seems to be the only one that gives me a problem. I have tried so many hacks. And now I am at a loss of ideas, time and mind. the site is woodbuiltright com / index-alpha1 php It seems the "E-Page" Div does not expand to contain everything. I have tried clearing divs but I must be missing something. Thanks I've got this little navigation menu, everything works in Opera and Firefox, but in IE the border overlaps the whole thing.. See at http://www.leetwebmasters.com/2.0 CSS: Code: #menu3 { width: 200px; border:1px solid #BCD2E6; border-style: solid solid none solid; } #menu3 li a { height: 24px; text-decoration: none; } #menu3 li a:link, #menu3 li a:visited { color: #8BADCF; display: block; background: url(menu3.gif); padding: 8px 0 0 10px; } #menu3 li a:hover { color: #627EB7; background: url(menu3.gif) 0 -32px; padding: 8px 0 0 10px; } #menu3 li { list-style:none; } #menu3 ul { padding-top:0px; margin-top:0px; padding-left:0px; margin-left:0px; } |
