CSS - Css Not Working. (includes Code)
HI
Could someone take a look at this code. I am using dreamweaver, but that shouldn't matter as i have written most of this myself. The only bit that works is that the text "LINK" appears as blue, like it should everything else is in the wrong colour, font, size, etc. However the text appears how it should in dreamweaver, but not in IE or Netscape? its only a sample of my code, so its not too long. Ideas? Thanks in advance. This is my CSS code:- ttext { FONT-SIZE: 16px; COLOR: #0066FF; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; } btext { FONT-SIZE: 12px; line-height: 20pt; COLOR: #0066FF; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;} A:link { text-decoration: none; COLOR: #0066FF;} A:active { text-decoration: none; COLOR: #0066FF;} A:hover { text-decoration: underline; COLOR: #0066FF;} A:visited { text-decoration: none; COLOR: #0066FF;} This is my HTML:- <html> <head> <title>CSS_TEST</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <link href="CSS_TEST.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> </head> <body> <ttext>This is the title for my CSS Test Page</ttext> <P></P> <btext> THIS IS WHERE THE BODY OF TEXT WILL BE </btext> <P></P> <A HREF="http://www.agreatwebsite.co.uk/">Link</A> </body> </html> Similar TutorialsProblem: I have a moderately simple site with .css and .js includes. Trouble is when I serve them thru Apache my page doesn't use them... In a browser, not thru Apache, they work fine so the links are good, but I would like to be able to serve them to myself for testing. I've heard that the server has no effect on external css and js but I don't have this prob in any browser unless it goes thru Apache. Specs: OS X Apache 1.3 Thanks for any info you can fire at me. So my webpage is using a sliding doors type navigation bar while also implementing a php includes in the content area. One of the problems here is on showing the "selected" or "you are currently here" state of a navigation button. Normally, it seems you would simply specify the class of the li element that corresponds to the page the user is on as "selected". However in this case, the navigation code is in the index.php and therefore constant and unchanging. So how would I implement this feature on my website? I've tried using javascript to manually change the styles, but either thats not possible or I have no idea what I'm doing. I realize my post may not be very clear as I am not sure how else to explain it. I will gladly clarify. Thanks! Hello, I've almost got this css image gallery done for my website, but I can't seem to get the main image to be positioned where the gallery thumbnails are. The main image seems to be only position-able from the top of the page. I'm trying to get the image to line up with the top of the first thumbnail image, the thumbnails being arranged in a column to the left of the main image. The page where you can view this is: WWW OLDFOUNDRY DOT COM - I'm a new user, and am not allowed to post links yet. You'll see the gallery in the new product called "Bugatti Test" That link is on the left hand side of the page. And I'll place the code in the next post, Thank you for any ideas, Jason Hi, Im trying to make the orange column fixed width but it doesnt work, when I change the width of the browser window it still changes width. Here is the link: http://www.i3design.com/test/ Here is the CSS: Code: .left { float: left; } .right { float: right; } .clear { clear: both; } .center { margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; } .hidden { display: none; } body { color: white; margin: 0; padding: 0; } /* Edited by Goldworker */ div.padded { display: block; } div.content { width: 75%; margin: 0% 12.5%; } /* Added by Goldworker */ div.login { background-color: black; padding: 0% 12.5%; } /* Edited by Goldworker */ div.logo { background-color: grey; height: 50px; padding: 0% 12.5%; } /* Edited by Goldworker */ div.subnavigation { background-color: brown; } div.main { color: black; background-color: orange; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; } div.main div.body { background-color: white; min-width: 75%; } div.main div.advertisements { width: 250px; display: inline; margin-right: 0px; } div.footer { background-color: grey; } Can anyone help. Also, is this well coded, or is it inefficient? James Hey guys, So I am new to doing PSD>>>XHTML (or html) & CSS. Basically..I am knew to coding I guess you could say as well. I have been watching this tutorial: net[dot]tutsplus[dot]com/videos/scree...-psd-to-xhtml/ And in it, he tells me about CSS and how to make the images appear. Basically, the images that I want to appear in my css, are not appearing. I have made sure all of the div id's are correct, and they are. My CSS can be found he tinypaste[dot]com/770074 ALL of the images, do not appear. Any help?? (PS- I know some of my things in my CSS are probably not the best practice, but I am not really looking for your criticism, but rather the solution to my problem) Thanks! ~ Joe Hello, Simple page trying to get the black line to be at the very top of the page. It works in all browsers (for me) except IE. http://www.gypsydev.us/css/ Any idea what else I need to do? Thanks, GuruGeek Hi there, I'm working with a template which is utilizing really bad transparent corner images in the master css file, and for sake of maintenace ive created my own custom.css and Im trying overwrite those background gif's with png's in my custom.css without any success - its coming up blank Any idea's where Im going wrong? FYI im using the !important hack which IE 6 and below supposedly ignore Code: /* master.css */ .sidebar_container .CL_upperLeftCorner{ background-image: url('../images/top_left_gom.gif'); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: top left; float: left; margin-right: -15px; } Code: /* custom.css */ .sidebar_container .CL_upperLeftCorner{ background-image: url('../images/top_left_gom.png') !imprtant; /* ignored by IE */ background-image: none; filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src=../images/top_left_gom.png, sizingMethod='scale'); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: top left; float: left; margin-right: -15px; } Some of the styles or not working in my main.css file. Example: style for td is working but not for ul or li. Syntex is correct, cause I pulled the styles from another one of my sites. Is there something that can cause a partial reading of my main.css file? Ok, I have a design and it works how I want it to in firefox. http://www.eng.nene.ac.uk/~bf04thbu/ However, In IE there are two problems. 1. The graphical border doesnt go all the way around the content area. View it in firefox to see how it's supposed to look. 2. There is a small gap between the first #maintable and #maintable2. Does anyone know how to fix these? I've been trying for a while without success. It appears that the #maintable2 div is on top of the two side images in #maintable2. Thanks for any help. style.css body { font-size: 80%; font-family: 'Lucida Grande', Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif; } ul#tabs { list-style: none; margin: 30px 0 0 0; padding: 0 0 0.3em 0; } ul#tabs li { display: inline; } ul#tabs li a { color: #42454a; background-color: #dedbde; border: 1px solid #c9c3ba; border-bottom: none; padding: 0.3em; text-decoration: none; } ul#tabs li a:hover { background-color: #f1f0ee; } ul#tabs li a.selected { color: #000; background-color: #f1f0ee; font-weight: bold; padding: 0.7em 0.3em 0.38em 0.3em; } div.tabContent { border: 1px solid #c9c3ba; padding: 0.5em; background-color: #f1f0ee; } div.tabContent.hide { display: none; } ---------------------------------------------- <html> <head><title>tab2</title> <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen"> </head> <body> <ul id="tabs"> <li><a href="#about">About JavaScript tabs</a></li> <li><a href="#advantages">Advantages of tabs</a></li> <li><a href="#usage">Using tabs</a></li> </ul> </body> </htlm> i haven't created any div tag but it should at list work on the ul tag. whats wrong???? Hey, it's me again, I was wondering if there is a way to make any header tag (in my case, it's H3) so that the text appears as normal? Essentially, make it so that nothing changes with the text. eg- 'Hello <H3>everybody</H3>' would appear just the same as 'Hello everybody.' I've tried multiple things using CSS, but can't seem to make it work. Hello, I have an odd problem. I do some websites as a hobbie so I'm no expert. I have created several sites using css with a linked stylesheet and never had a problem using: link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css" type="text/css" Today I opened Homesite (old version 4.5) for the first time in a few months and began a new project. My problem is, I can't seem to get the stylesheet to work when linked. If I use it inline or in the head tag it works, just not linked. I'm using the same code I have always used. I even copied from other working pages to be sure I'm not missing something. I have also opened several other existing projects stored locally and they work fine. Just nothing I code now will work. I must be overlooking something simple. Thanks for any ideas! Hi guys, Why is this happening in IE8? It works in chrome/ff etc though. Links to site and css. In the last game to finish in the ninth round, Anand squeezed out a fine win in the endgame against a tired looking Michael Adams, who at various stages had even seemed slightly better with white, but it was Anand who seized the chances he got. Anand's win carried him to five points from nine rounds, and a clear second position and Topalov is half a point ahead at 5.5 points. In the final round, Anand will have white pieces against Judit Polgar, who drew her ninth round game against an off- colour Vladimir Kramnik. If Topalov and Anand end up with same points, they will have to have a play-off in rapid, where Anand will have a definite advantage. But for that situation to happen Anand must win against Polgar and hope Topalov does no better than a draw. </td> </tr> </table> </div> </body> </html> Code: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Title</title> <STYLE TYPE="text/css"> a:link { color: #808080; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px; text-decoration:underline; } a:hover { color: #A0A0A0; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px; text-decoration:none; } a:active { color: #000000; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px; text-decoration:underline; } a:visited { color: #808080; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px; text-decoration:underline; } version { color: #939393; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-decoration:none; font-size:11px; } pagetitle { color: #969696; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-decoration:none; font-size:16px; text-transform:capitalize font-weight:700 } </STYLE> </head> Any help is welcome, I am not well versed in CSS.
