HTML - How To Place Vertical Scroll In Table Left Column
Good day,
I am brand new here in this forum. So many knowledgeable folks here. I am relatively new to web design. I typically use templates and themes and tweak them. I can navigate a CSS doc and html to make changes, etc. However, I have a client who has an existing site that she wants to keep the aesthetic of and so I am using what the previous designer left. It is a simple html page with tables. Simple enough. Very elegant visually. No need to SEO really so it works. She has asked if we can make the left column of a two column table scroll independently. The page content is about over 6000px. The scroll column will contain a page outline and other text that will include internal targeted links. This is outside my skill set, but I want to learn. Have searched the net and found some suggestions but want it to be clean and ended up here. There is no style sheet other than the ie6 sheet. Page is he http://www.themedeaproject.com/proposaltestpage.html no graphics are loaded. Can anyone point me to a good tutorial or have any suggestions? Thanks! BlueEyedMonkey aka Tatyanna Similar TutorialsI need help with making a vertical scroll box w/ table just dont know the html code for a vertical scroll box.. I know the table but i dont think its right. ___ <table border="1"> <tr> <th>Heading</th> <th>Another Heading</th> </tr> <tr> <td>row 1, cell 1</td> <td>row 1, cell 2</td> </tr> <tr> <td>row 2, cell 1</td> <td>row 2, cell 2</td> </tr> </table> ___ Thanx in Advance! Can anyone help me out? I've set up a test site for a project where I have a scrollable table within an iFrame. Techincally, its an iFrame within an iFrame which gets you to a scrollable table I also added an auto-scroll with anchor-links. Everything finally works, but I really want to remove the horizontal-scroll bar that shows up, while keeping the vertical-scroll bar. (Upon testing, I found without the vertical-scroll bar, the anchor-links and auto-scroll don't work correctly.) here's the link to the test site: http://www.thegrandamerican.com/ here's the line of code I think is the correct place to make corrections: <iframe id="myiframe" name="myiframe" src="oprah june 09_news.htm" width="900" height="475" scrolling="yes" overflow-y: scroll></iframe> The hierarchy works as follows: index.htm > spotlight_news.htm > oprah june 09_news.htm The reason for all the iframes is to have elements on the higher pages that will stay in place, such as a music player and dynamic menu bar. other notes and associated files (for the auto scroll) a smooth-src-comments.js smooth.pack.js Thanks. - J hi ! I'm using a frameset and in the main frame I need the vertical scroller visible all the time, even when not needed, but when I set it ... HTML Code: scrolling="yes" but with this the horizontal scroll is also visible, what I don't want Is there a way to enable just the Vertical one?? Hi, I'm been having some trouble viewing an embedded an SWF file. Nobody in the ActionScript/Flash community seems to have any answers so I thought I'd try here, since it's really an HTML issue anyway. I built an 800x1400 SWF in Flash CS5 and exported the file in an HTML wrapper, automatically generating the appropriate HTML code in an HTML file for upload to the server with the SWF. The problem is, my resolution is currently set to 800x600 and the HTML page won't scroll down so I can't see any of the content below the top 600 pixels of the SWF. Nobody seems to know how to force the page to add a scroll bar that will scroll down far enough for me to view the entire SWF. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help, ~Josh hello all, I found a simple effect that make the text scroll vertical which it's prefect for my website. Code: <div align="center"> <marquee scrollamount="2" direction="up" loop="true" width="35%"> <center> THIS IS COOL </center> </marquee> </div> the thing is, how can I make it stop on RollOver / hover How I can set the scrool bar so that the vertical bar will show? When the typed text exceeds the horizontal space area, cursor will be moved into next line without hitting the Enter key. Hi all, Im afraid im getting a little frustrated. My fault.. Im new here but need your help. I run a forum, phpbb3 based but the style im currently using is very much HTML based. I am looking to have a left hand column within my forum but really dont know how to do it, well to add to what i already have. I think for you to know what style docs i have you would have to have a look yourself or look at my existing source code.. http://www.pricelessparrots.com/phpbb3/ Ok i have the new style ' VistaX '. This link will take you to the original download: It can be found he It seems this style is mostly created using HTML. Could someone please tell me how to add a left hand column to the page. I would like it to be on the left hand side all the way down after the header. I thought i would have a go at it but becoming increasingly frustrated with it. such a simple thing but i cannot get it. Do i float it, using css or what? I thought about using a seperate page to create the table and then include it into the doc but this doesnt work either. Plz help.. Paul Hey, I have a sample page he www.darkdayssoftware.com/indexotheridea.html How do I make space for and create a column down the left and right (e.g. a space for adverts) and ensure that when I resize the web paste, the main column in the middle doesn't overlap the column to the left, and similarly the column on the right doesn't overlap the column in the middle? Thanks What would be the best way to center the items listed in the left column? Thank you. I'm afraid I'm table dyslexic. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Hello, I need to create a 3 -column lay out with the left and right columns having 200px each and the middle column take the rest. Here is my html markup: HTML Code: <div style="width: 100%"> <div style="width: 200px; float:left;">Left column</div> <div style="width: 100%; float:left;">Middle Column</div> <div style="width: 200px; float:left;">Right Column</div> </div> It's not working for me . Please help. This could be an HTML or CSS problem, but I can't figure out what's causing this and it's driving me nuts! The left column on my website will not stay a fixed width of 175px in IE 8. That seems to be the only browser having a problem. Here's the link: http://www.jrsart.net/testarea/paull...cientists.html I've linked the page that has it the worst, but if you visit the other pages and keep an eye on the left column's border, you'll see it keeps moving. Please help! I'm rapidly running out of time to fix this issue, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! I have a left menu column but it's not stretching down the length of the page. The page is quite long and when the links are finished on left column it just ends and as it has abackground colour it looks a little strange. It is floated left and the main_section is also floated left. It is the main section div that is long. I was thinking because this is in a div that the left coumn is also in that the left column would therefore stretch to the length of it's parent div. Any ideas? http://absolute-websites.com/services.html is the link so you can see what I'm talking about. I want to center each column so that the first letter of each book title is lined-up, but that the longest title on each column has equal space on both left and right. 2. If you look at each column, the width is about 245px. With regard to the first book title in the first column, I have 50px that is extra, therefore I'd like to automatically add 25px to the front of each one of the books for that column. 3. On the second column, there is about 80px extra, therefore I'd like to auto-add 40px to the front of each book in that column. My problem is that I don't want the column centered individually because then I will lose the straight line that I'd like each book to be on top of each other as it starts the line. I tried: style="margin-left:20px" and style="padding-left:20px" but when the title got too long it would not auto-collapse the left side, I want it to collapse! I want one tag that I can insert evenly on every section to get the push to the right an even amount of spaces for every book on each column. If it comes down to it, I wouldn't mind sacrificing that each column gets auto aligned to what is necessary for its own column. So if I have to use one number, say 30px, for the whole webpage, then ok, I'd do it. My problem is that sometimes the 30px empty filler space for the left, in order to push the title to the right, is not enough space for a very long title and it winds up sending half the title to the next line, which I don't want. This code is a list of books that spans about 20 categories and about 400 book titles. Thanks in advance for any help you might offer. Hi...I'm not new to html but i've come across something i cant get to work. I have created a page with a background image to repeat-x and it look great. Next I want to place a three column table at the top and over this repeated background image. The problem is that the table get placed below the 'background_img.jpg'. So there is a large gap between the top of the page and the table. How do I get the table to be placed over or on top of the repeated background img? Thanks Hi, I just thought I'd jump right in with my query. I'm looking to make Text in a table cell vertical, I've come up with solution of inserting <br />'s after each letter <table> <tr><th class="green">O<br />n<br />e</th> <th>Two</th> <th>Three</th></tr> </table> but I just wanted to know, is there a way of achieving this without doing this, can I control the size of the cell with css? thanks htmlhex I'm trying to create a table with two rows, the first row would align to the top of the table and the second row would align to the bottom. I don't have any problems getting the rows to align correctly, but I can't get the table to fill 100% of the allotted space (it works in firefox, but not in IE or Safari). I've read that height isn't a valid piece of code, so this is why it won't expand vertically, but does anybody have any other ideas on how I could get my rows to do what I need them to? The code I'm using basically looks like this ... <table> <tr> <td valign="top"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="bottom"> </td> </tr> </table> Thanks I wanted to have the scrollbar in my table inside my web page instead of extending the page making it longer when I have plenty of text... I had to do it. I know that these kind of things can sc... everything up so I made sure that I first cleared all the formatting from Word. So, I'm in a pickle now... |
