HTML - Image Positioning
I am trying to position 3 images above my main drop down menu at the top of my webpages. the center image has been positioned using the <center> tag. the other 2 are used as links (dont think that makes a difference but thought i would mention it) and they are posing a problem.
I have only inserted one of them at the moment and I am assuming that if I can figure that out then the second will be the same. The problem is that to position the image exactly where I want it I have used absolute positioning and as im sure most of you know, that causes porblems when other users have different sized monitors or adjust the size of the window. Is there a work around or another way for me to position this acuratly? thanks in advance, heres the code i have before the drop down menu... <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>Doonhamer Pool League</title> <script src="dbMenu.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> <link href="global.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen"> <link href="dropDown.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen"> </head> <body bgcolor="000000"> <a href="albums.html"> <img STYLE="position:absolute; TOP:15px; LEFT:150px; height:105px; border:0" src="photosicon.jpg"> </a> <center> <img src="banner.gif"> <p> Similar Tutorials1st i would like to say thank you to all those who have helped me over the last 10 days or so, i know ive really been annoying considering some posts were i suppose unnecessary, so i apologize... 2nd this will be my last annoying post for a while once i get this done im pretty much getting ready to go public after a few updates as far as text material... so heres the issue... im using this code below... now what im trying to do is overlay my image so it appears in the center of the other image but using top: 70px; left 275: px; its not going to be the same depending on how big your screen is and how big your explorer window is set to... so im wondering does any1 know anyway i can get that image to appear dead center regardless of user screen size? <center> <img src = "Best-1.gif" style="position: absolute; top: 70px; left: 275px; "> <img src="banner-top.JPG" width="100%" height="150" /> </center> you can see the results on http://www.freewebs.com/fallingrain11/22.html Hi guys, I am attempting to place an image with a hyperlink to the top of the page. Currently, I am only able to position the image relative to the edge of the screen; however, I want the image to sit in a set spot, independent of the left and right edges of the screen. I wish for the image to remain in the same position on the screen when the page is scrolled. The code I am currently using is as follows: <a style="display:scroll;position:fixed;bottom:5px;right:5px;" href="#" title="Back to Top"><img src="http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x156/Muscleox/BackToTop.png" border="0" /></a> The following image will hopefully illustrate what I am aiming to achieve: http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x.../visualaid.gif Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Nautishko I cannot seem to do this at all! Here is the code I was using for positioning: Code: <style type="text/css"> #_mainframe {position:absolute; left: 43px; top: 300px; width: 100px; height: 200px; z-index: 100 } </style> And I was using this for the iframe: Code: <IFRAME NAME="_mainframe" SRC="news.php" ALLOWTRANSPARENCY="true"> Here is the page where all of this is: http://treu-bleu.orangesarecool.com/main.html Is there another code for doing this? Any help is appreciated thanks I've placed some images on this page: http://gmjones.org/Employments.html I added text under the two images on the left by trial and error, as a result, the look out of place! What's the proper way to add text under a separately placed image via the html coding? Thanks in advance. HTML Code: <a href="http://live.xbox.com/en-US/MyXbox/Profile?GamerTag=P2W360"> <img stely="position:absolute; TOP:30px; LEFT:30px; WIDTH:75px; HEIGHT:75px" src="http://i43.tinypic.com/35jibzd.pnge" /> </a> Why won't it position properly? I've been helping a friend of mine build a website for a local group of guys that do stunt shows on motorcycles. We've got the page done for the most part, just need some tweeking here and there on most of the pages. I have a question though about the front page we've got set up. Here's a LINK. The four GIF rollover images are really turning into a problem. The only way I could figure out how to place them and have them overlapping each other was by using a Position Absolute tag. That however is causing problems depending on the end user's screen resolution, or if they've got a favorites bar or whatever docked on the browser screen. Would be HIGHLY greatful if someone could point me in the right direction of what I can do to get these images placed inside of the table, while being able to overlap them, and NOT having to deal with absolute positioning. Thanks VERY much in advance for any help! Alright, well I have a banner centered at the top of my page, http://www.hyphygraphix.com. I want to create an image map with 2 links where is says "Add Ash" and "Add HG" to my myspace pages. I want it to relevantly move with the image if a user where to use a larger/smaller resolution or if they choose to resize the browser. (I have this problem with the iframes too but I'll ask about that in a later thread) Can someone help me out? Hey all. I am having some trouble positioning some images to the right of a paragraph using css. Can anyone help? What is the appropriate code to position the box using the image as the reference point, not the corner of the screen so the text always goes to the same spot on the screen. Code: <div align="center"><img src="EA-vendorapplicationimage.jpg" alt="Eclectic Affinity Vendor Information Form - Become an Eclectic Affinity WHole Sale Vendor" align="absmiddle"></div> <body> <div class="ss-base-body" dir="ltr"> <div style=" overflow:auto; position:absolute; height:509px; width: 698px; top:172px; left:241px;"> The code above works to keep the box in one location, but that location is from the top left of the screen which is only useful if everyone used the same screen. Thanks Hey, i am currently working on a site and trying to position a image of a leaf on the corner of a div. The site is: http://luminaskincare.ca/new/ I want it to look like this: http://luminaskincare.ca/new/whatiwant.png Any help would be appreciated thanks. I'm new here so forgive me if I've posted in the wrong place. I'm working with HTML. My goal is to use an image as a link but I also need to use absolute positioning for the image as well. Is there a code that combines absolute positioning of an image where the image is also a link? I've attempted to combine : <IMG STYLE="position:absolute; TOP:35px; LEFT:170px; WIDTH:50px; HEIGHT:50px" SRC="---THE URL OF MY HOSTED IMAGE---"> with: <p align="center"><a href="---the URL of the link---" class="fw_link_page"></p> But I simply don't know how to do this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Hi all -- I'm having an interesting problem. I'm designing a web page that has a navigation banner (home - programs - schedule of events - contact us - downloads) that is made up of a .png for each page (i.e. home.png, programs.png, etc). My page is 1000px wide and all of the navigation banner's images add up to 1000px wide. I'm using JavaScript to create an onMouseOver and onMouseOut effect on each of the images. The problem that I'm having occurs when I tried to add a link (either by <A HREF= or using an image map). Whenever I add a link to the image, a small (3px) area of white space shows up to the right of the image. This shifts all of my other images 3px to the right (and 3 more for each link I add to subsequent images) thus making the total width of the navigation banner over 1000px and the last image gets shoved to a new line. I can find no way to get rid of this white space other than to remove the link from the image. There is no property on the page that adds any sort of padding, margins, or borders to images or links, so I can see no property that has to be changed. Help! How do I get rid of this white space but still keep the link on the image?? [I posted this question on the Adobe forum to no avail, below is a screencap I took of the issue I'm having] Thanks in advance! //kl PS - I am using both IE8 and Chrome to view this webpage. I've set all the margins/padding/borders to 0px. Here is my CSS and the part of the code that pertains to the navigation banner. CSS: Code: <style type="text/css"> <!-- body { font: 100% Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; background: #666666; margin: 0; /* it's good practice to zero the margin and padding of the body element to account for differing browser defaults */ padding: 0; text-align: center; /* this centers the container in IE 5* browsers. The text is then set to the left aligned default in the #container selector */ color: #000000; background-image: url(images/blue.bg.png); background-repeat: repeat; background-color: #009; } .oneColFixCtr #container { width: 1000px; /* using 20px less than a full 800px width allows for browser chrome and avoids a horizontal scroll bar */ background: #FFFFFF; margin: 0 auto; /* the auto margins (in conjunction with a width) center the page */ border: 0px solid #000000; text-align: left; /* this overrides the text-align: center on the body element. */ } .oneColFixCtr #mainContent { padding: 0 20px; /* remember that padding is the space inside the div box and margin is the space outside the div box */ } body, td, th { color: #333; } #main_banner2 { margin: 0px; padding: 0px; height: auto; width: 1000px; } --> </style> </head> Nav Banner: NOTE:: below HAS to be all one paragraph because if i insert a carriage return in between images, it also adds the white space... I want it to look like this and this is what it looks like now. I don't want to do it using borders but I can't seem to figure it out using positioning. Anyone able to help? CSS Page Regards, Darren Hi, I can't seem to get these images to center after using position:fixed on them. Here's the code I have: Code: <html> <head> </head> <body> <div style="position: fixed; top: 0px;"> <img src="top.jpg"> </div> <div align="center"> <table width="1025" bgcolor="gray"> <tr> <td> <middle text> </td> </tr> </table> </div> <div style="position: fixed; bottom: 0px;"> <center><img src="bottom.jpg"></center> </div> </body> </html> I believe this is a HTML problem: Old site: http://www.ardmoreweatherlive.com/ . Old site CSS: http://www.ardmoreweatherlive.com/weather-screen.css New site: http://www.ardmoreweatherlive.com/test3.php New CSS: http://www.ardmoreweatherlive.com/weather-screen2.css I am trying to get rid of the old left side menu and maybe get the page to float in the center with, I think padding(?) around the edges. I really thank everyone for the help, Doug You can view my site at www.palermostaging.com. It appears fine in IE but in firefox, the alignment is thrown off a little, I think the orange column is too tall. How can I fix this without changing the text size or placement? Any suggestions are appreciated, source is viewable on the page. Thanks, Anders Hi What i would like is for a frame to show a website and then the user scowl around the frame and resizing it, the user then clicks on a button which displays the frame in the same position and it is the same size, but without the resize and scowling position options. How can i do this? Thanks I am having trouble positioning a table on my site. I have managed to align it in the vertical position but using any form of centering only aligns the left edge to the center. I need the centre of the table in the centre if you know what i mean...!
