HTML - Safari Display Problem
ref: www.nofocusprototype.com/vanallen
When viewed in FireFox, Opera and Camino, the menu bar and video footer are both perfectly aligned with the video box. In Safari and Chrome, however, the menu bar and the footer are a few pixels off plus the footer is separated from the bottom of the video box by a 1 or 2 pixel space. I could naturally adjust the menu bar and footer to display properly in Safari and Chrome, but then they would not display properly in the other browsers. This is certainly a Catch-22 situation. Anyone know a fix for this? BTW, I note that many people have display issues with Safari--one Apple rep told a questioner to get FireFox! Anyone know a fix for this? BTW, I note that many people have display issues with Safari--one Apple rep told a questioner to get FireFox! I am having display problems in Safari (3.1.1). All other browsers installed in my computer show the site correctly: Opera 9.21 Chrome 1.0.154.43 IE 7.0.5730.11 Here is the page: http://www.shootthehead.com/safari.htm Any help is appreciated. Our organization's webpage was created in Dreamweaver, with some additional javascript and html code added by an intrepid staff member with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. The page displays properly in Internet Explorer and Firefox for Windows, as well as Firefox and Netscape for Mac. However, the page displays a white screen in Safari. The page is loading, because the page title displays, and it is possible to view the source code for the page using the "View --> View Source" menu option. But none of the page content shows up. I did not find any relevant help in the Safari forums on the apple page, so I'm wondering if this is a simple coding problem that I don't know enough to ferret out. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The website address is http://www.buttecounty.net/bclibrary Thanks, Derek So, I have a web site I have inherited, not coded... and I know nothing about html/css etc! One string, a telephone number, should show in black, but in Safari it shows up in white (it is fine in all other browsers). However, if I change the string to text, it displays fine, so it only numbers that show up in white! Help - I have no idea what is causing this!? I've attached the html, and the relevant css for the page... I'm sure this is dead easy for someone who knows what they're doing! Thanks, in advance for your help, James My site works in Firefox and Safari just like I want it to, but when IE tries to read it, the divs and images get spaced out and wrapped around AND it is not centered on the page like it should be... what is my coding flaw? www.nativboardriding.com check it out in firefox or safari to see how it SHOULD be displayed, then open it with IE. Thanks, Levs Hi everyone, I have been working on a website here www.ds-installations.co.uk/examples.html. I am nearing the end of design/development but I have a weird display bug in Chrome and Safari. For some reason, the content displays off to the right of the main page? I have checked all the code through the W3C CSS and HTML validators and it all seems fine. I have tested in IE6+, FF and Opera which seem to work fine? I would really appreciate any help on this, I have been looking and tweaking for hours to try and fix it and I can't see anything obvious? Thanks very much in advance for any help! Dan Safari doesnt display html site as it should be, instead Safari shows just the html code...: what can i do? <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta content="de-ch" http-equiv="Content-Language" /> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" /> <title>Ohne_Titel_1</title> </head> <body> <p>TEST</p> <img src="http://blabla.com/image.jpg" /> </body> </html> This is just a sample html code, and its saved as .html file on the server... so what could it be? (the main page is displayed correct by the way...) Thank you very much! Using AJAX & php to return a randomly generated number of single column tables, and drop them into a <div> element. ( http://www.thegreatmartinicompany.co...ace-value.html ). I've set the div to text-align: center, and put auto margins on the tables. The result is the tables are centered and equally spaced in the div element regardless of the number of tables returned. As appropriate FF and IE display the tables side by side, but Safari stacks them on top of each other. An example of the returned code is below. Any ideas why Safari does not display this as IE and FF do? <table style="margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto"><tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> </table> <table style="margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto"><tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> </table> <table style="margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto"><tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td></td></tr> </table> The title says it all, my site just doesn't properly work in safari. heres the link www.royaltee-design.com help would really be appreciated thanks http://www.vancouver4condos.com/test/ In the top-left corner of my map (under the "Downtown" tab) there should be a navigation menu with four buttons showing. This menu looks fine in Firefox, IE and Opera, but not in Safari. When I open this page in Safari, that menu loads underneath my map image. I have no clue what is causing it. Wzup Got a little issue on my site. is showing everything great in firefox. IE is a little off but i'm still working on that. but in safari i doesn't show anything. Basically, Ive agreed to turn someone website, into a joomla template, and then format articles and such until it looks exactly like the original site. This would give them the ability to add their own content without my help(I offered to redo the site, but they like their current one even though its quite bad). All was going well, and I sent out an email to check the progress of the site to the client, and he replied to me that the site was all distorted in Safari. Being a windows programmer, I was used to IE/firefox, Safari and the other browsers never really crossed my mind. Anyway, I downloaded safari, chrome and opera, and tested the sites out. Opera they were fine, but chrome and Safari, some things align WAYYY to the left, almost off screen. I'm guessing it may be a CSS issue, but Ive checked, rechecked, deleted, restored almost everything and its still messed up in those browsers! This is a paying client, so I need to get this sorted out as soon as possible. The pages in question are he http://www.longboardcapital.net/inde......7&Itemid=27 http://www.longboardcapital.net/inde......48&Itemid=2 Ive paused on content creation, as this is a big problem. Have any of you ever experienced the same or similar problem? can you all offer any suggestions? Thank you so much for your help, -Tim Hello, I am having a problem with frame targeting in safari. The problem page: http://www.danshamptons.com/insider_guide/summer10/ Click "arts & attractions" on left Click "amagansett" Click "the art barge" (pulls up a dummy listing) Now click "amagansett" again. The page opens in a new browser window, instead of the frame "listingcontent" as it did when it was first clicked. This only is happening with Safari. Can anyone tell me what is happening here, and what a solution might be ? Thanks, Colin Hey guys, I'm managing this website that my boss created. I'm a devoted Dreamweaver user and she created it HTML style. I need help because I can't figure out why it's not showing up in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Netscape. It shows up in Safari, but that's not going to satisfy our client. Here's the url: http://www.kwph.com it's the logo under the About Us section. Thank you for any help Jordan Hello, I'm new to the forums =) I'm currently having a problem with my navigation which involves images. Initally I used the traditional image map method using area maps and the usemap function but it only worked in the webpage itself, and when the webpage shows in an iframe the links are nonexistent. So I sliced my navigation to give the sliced images the url link instead. As usual, they work on their own but when the page is shown in an iframe, some of the links disappear (you can't even hover on them) only in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. But some of the links are also still intact. In IE and Opera they work perfectly fine. Below is the code for the page which contains the navigation and links aforementioned, which will be displayed in an iframe of another page: Code: <!-- ImageReady Slices (mainframe.jpg) --> <table id="Table_01" width="971" height="565" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td rowspan="4"> <img src="images/mainframe_01.gif" width="200" height="531" alt=""" style="z-index:-3;"></td> <td> <a href="defence.html" target="_parent" onmouseover="window.status='STET Defence'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;"> <img src="images/mainframe_02.gif" width="332" height="163" border="0" alt="" style="z-index:1;"></a></td> <td rowspan="4"> <img src="images/mainframe_03.gif" width="438" height="531" alt=""></td> <td> <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="163" alt=""></td> </tr> <tr> <td> <a href="maritime.html" target="_parent" onmouseover="window.status='STET Maritime'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;"> <img src="images/mainframe_04.gif" width="332" height="134" border="0" alt="" style="z-index:1;"></a></td> <td> <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="134" alt=""></td> </tr> <tr> <td> <a href="homelandsec.html" target="_parent" onmouseover="window.status='STET Homeland Security'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;"> <img src="images/mainframe_05.gif" width="332" height="138" border="0" alt="" style="z-index:1;"></a></td> <td> <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="138" alt=""></td> </tr> <tr> <td rowspan="2"> <a href="centre.html" target="_parent" onmouseover="window.status='STET Centre'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;"> <img src="images/mainframe_06.gif" width="332" height="130" border="0" alt="" style="z-index:1;"></a></td> <td> <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="96" alt=""></td> </tr> <tr> <td> <a href="https://mail.stet.com.sg/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=https://mail.stet.com.sg/owa&reason=0" target="_parent" onmouseover="window.status='Login to Intranet'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;"> <img src="images/mainframe_07.gif" width="200" height="34" border="0" alt="" style="z-index:1;"></a></td> <td> <a href="sitemap.php" target="mainframe" onmouseover="window.status='Lost?'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;"> <img src="images/mainframe_08.gif" width="438" height="34" border="0" alt=""></a></td> <td> <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="34" alt=""></td> </tr> </table> <!-- End ImageReady Slices --> <div id="pict" style="position:absolute;top:200px;left:10px;z-index:0;"> <iframe name="news" src="news.php" FRAMEBORDER=no name="frame" allowTransparency scrolling=auto style="filter:chroma (color=#FFFFFF)" width="185" height="90"></iframe> </div> There is another iframe in this page which I wonder might be causing the problem. However even when I removed it the problem remains. Any ideas how to fix it? Would really appreciate the help, thanks! Hi all, I am building a small website and I am creating the template at the moment. The template displays fine in FF & Safari but not in IE6 or IE7. Here is the site: Clicky In IE something is pushing the design! It's a really simple design but I'm at a loss as to how to correct the IE problem! Thanks Hey hey! First post here so be nice I'm currently coding a satire website for my pal and I - http://www.satirefactory.com (only one article up at the moment). The problem I'm having is that when you click onto any page after the home page it removes the "www." bit from the address bar at the top of the browser. I can't understand it. The only thing I'm doing any differently from any of my previous web sites is that I've used php includes to call up different files for the header/menu/right column and footer of the page. eg: Code: <?php include ("../includes/header-satire.htm"); ?> But I can't see how that would effect anything. Also - I've installed a set of (Invision Board) forums which are totally unrelated to the rest of the site, and they still display as http://satirefactory.com/forums , even if you type the URL directly into the address bar. The website is working properly, it's just this niggling aesthetic issue. If anyone has any ideas I'd be eternally greatful. Thanks in advance, Max Power Hello, I'm trying to a create blog like web site. Since my html knowledge is very limited I decided to use a free web layout provided by Gorotron.com. The template I chose is called "Audiophile". The problem is the Audiophile template will not display correctly when IE 7 is used. The template displays perfect in Firefox 3 and IE 6 but not IE 7. I've contacted the user who created this template but I have not received response in weeks.
