HTML - Site On Pc Vs Uploaded Version
I'm having an issue regarding how my site looks locally as opposed to the uploaded version.
Here is how it should look: http://www.cincitucky.com/available_worldwide.jpg Here is how it looks: http://www.cincitucky.com/ It looks fine on my local machine, online it looks busted. It seems like it would be a simple issue but I'm on day two of trying to figure this out. Any insight into this situation would be great. Similar TutorialsHi all -- I'm not sure even how to start dealing with this, so here goes. I have a site (adult) that users pay to see pics/videos. One of the members apparently is taking these pictures and uploading them to like an adult "hack" site... is there anything I can really do about this? If so, how would I go about it? I don't really want to disable the right-click, save as.. I have probably 3-4 thousand pictures up now, and more every week. Any ideas? Thanks! Mary K. Hello team, I had some great help here last time so this is my first stop to ask another question What i'm trying to do is make: www.mysite.com/whatever (where 'whatever' is the string i give someone i.e 12345 or bobsmith) ...redirect to: http://www.redirectsite.com/print_de...p?pid=whatever so i can tell people to go to, for example, www.mysite.com/bicycle and it will go to http://www.redirectsite.com/print_de...sp?pid=bicycle note that i have no control over 'redirectsite' other than being able to upload my products. is this possible? i'm thinking that somehow i could make a /redirect directory with some sort of graber file where anything that queries /redirect as in www.mysite.com/redirect/bicycle automatically gets forwarded to the new site with the added string on the end of "id=". how tough it that!? tell me it's not impossible please!! thanks for you help in advance!! Hi I have an html page that contains a .swf (index.html). I'd like to make sure that browsers always load the site, and not get it from their cache. I've heard of a thing called cache busting, but there is little info on it when dealing with anything other than a Wordpress site. Does anyone know about it or have info on any other way to make sure the site automatically loads directly? I don't want to have to rely on users manually clearing their cache. Cheers Shaun Hello, im not sure if this is in the right place but, I want, on my website, to have a section where it shows the five recently uploaded pictures to the 'portfolio' section. But this will be placed on the my index page. does this make sense? thanks. Adam C Hey everyone, got a problem with an element that is relatively, or absolutely, positioned (I've tried both methods and both produce the same results). Take a look here with anything but Internet Explorer: http://zachi.teamtreetops.com *Screenshots of whats wrong in IE* The "bottom" div element is off in both cases. ie5 ie7 Code: div#bottom{ height:11px; width:411px; background-image: url(images/bottom.png); position:absolute; } Complete style sheet Any insight on the issue would be much appreciated! Hi I've resisted long enough - I realise now I MUST create an iPhone version of any site I make. Complete newb to iPhone development, so I was wondering if there is a good tut somewhere you guys know of? Thanks Shaun I am looking for a way to make sure that each time a page is loaded, it retrieves the latest version off of the server without the user having to click Refresh/Reload. The page has news items on it and sometimes it doesn't load the updated page, but the page that is in the browser's cache. I know this option can be changed in the Browser's properties, but I want a way to do this automatically without requiring that users change this preference. What is the main difference between an academic version and a full version of a program such as Dreamweaver? Are you only supposed to use the Academic version for educational purposes only? Meaning if i design a website with an academic version i can't legally put it up as a business website? I was always curious about how this actually works, thanks. http://www.heresmary.com/amelia/desktop.jpg Desktop. http://www.heresmary.com/amelia/online.jpg Online. I am trying to make the page look ok in firefox. It's working fine on the pc, but when i view it online there's no area around the images. What am I doing wrong and why would it only effect it when it's uploaded? :S Here's the url: http://www.heresmary.com/amelia Here's the css that it links to, incase that could be the problem: HTML Code: body {background-color: transparent; font-family: arial;} a:link {color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;} a:visited {color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;} a:hover {color: #000000; text-decoration: none;} img {border: 0;} img.workimage {margin: 5px;} h1 {font-size: 13pt; text-align: center; font-weight: bold;} h2 {font-size: 12pt; text-align: center; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;} p.small {font-size: 8pt; text-align: center;} p.welcomeheader1 {width: 300px; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: bold; border-bottom: 2px solid #D7F398;} table.previews {width: 600px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;} td.workimages {height: 160px; text-align: center; background-image: url(images/tablebg.jpg); border-bottom: 2px solid black;} td.worktext {font-size: 10pt; line-height: 15px; text-align: center; background-image: url(images/tdbg.bmp); border-top: 1px solid black; border-bottom: 1px solid black;} I got all my html files set up and file directories correct, however my audio files simply won't play when I sync the actual website in dreamweaver. They play just fine if I double click the html file to open up a local version of the website. EDIT: They play fine in Internet Explorer, but not Firefox, both updated to latest version. =/ Here is my code: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <style> #container { display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; position: relative; border:none; width: 380px; height: 633px; background-image: url("pictures/kohakuriver1.png"); background-position:center; } #container img { position: absolute; border:none; left: 65px; width: 245px; height: 53px; } #image1 {top: 225px} #image2 {top: 300px} #image3 {top: 375px} </style> <meta charset="utf-8"> <LINK href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> <title>Music_river</title> </head> <body> <audio autoplay="autoplay"> <source src="music/hupochuanClip.mp3"/> <source src="music/hupochuanClip.ogg"/> </audio> <div id="container"> <a href="index.html"><img src="pictures/button-mainplaylist.png" alt="MainPlayList" id="image1"/></a> <a href="music_sorrow.html"><img src="pictures/button-sorrowbeauty.png" alt="SorrowsBeauty" id="image2"/></a> <a href="music_snow.html"><img src="pictures/button-snow.png" alt="SnowSerenade" id="image3"/></a> </div> </body> </html> Does anyone see what's wrong? =/ i dont know why the page called index doesnt work.. here is the code Code: <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>INDEX</TITLE> </HEAD> <FRAMESET ROWS = "120,500,70"border="0" framespacing="0" frameborder="0"> <FRAME NAME="BANNER" SCROLLING ="no" SRC ="http://ectwebdevelopment.webng.com/banner.html"> <FRAMESET COLS ="110,500"border="0" framespacing="0" frameborder="0"> <FRAME NAME="NAV" SCROLLING ="no" SRC ="http://ectwebdevelopment.webng.com/nav.html"> <FRAME NAME="home" SCROLLING ="yes" SRC ="http://ectwebdevelopment.webng.com/home.html"> </FRAMESET> <FRAME NAME="FOOTER" SCROLLING ="no" SRC ="http://ectwebdevelopment.webng.com/footer.html"> </HTML> can someone plz help me and tell me what to do to solve this problem? the site Hi, I'm looking to create my own version of a printer-friendly page. Any resources I can find on this subject are extremely specific about what they consider "printer-friendly", and they don't address my issue. It seems to be browser specific, but I want to get rid of whatever extra is printed in the top and bottom margins. Printed from IE, the top margin contains the page title and page information, while the bottom margin contains the URL and date. Printed from Firefox, the top margin contains the title and URL, and the bottom margin contains the page info and date. I don't want any of this - how would I disable it? Thanks. Hello Folks, I'm not too sure which forum I should post this in, but hopefully this is the right one. I have created a horzontal Navigation bar using a repeating tile for the bottom of my page, which views fine on my hard drive. See screenshot attached. However, when I upload the page, the tile stops displaying and only the solid background shows. http://www.magicalwonders.com/Test2/Index.html I can't work out what is going wrong. I've tried renaming the file, deleting from the webspace and re-uploading, but it still refuses to display when uploaded. The other repeating tiles work fine, so I have no idea what's going on. Can anyone spot what may be the problem and save my sanity? Thanks, Myles How do I make images small but when yoiu click them you go to a fullsize version? I have a fullsize image that takes up too much space on my webpage. What code should I use to shrink it a certain percentage but when I click on it you go to a full size image? thanks I recently uploaded files to fatcow and they can be see here http://kovcreation.com/ This is the html for the links. <Div id="nav"> <ul> <li><a href='index.html'"><font color="584842"vlink="#bb2826"alink="#584842">Home</font></a></li> <li><a href='Portfolio.html'"><font color="584842"vlink="#bb2826"alink="#584842">Portfolio</font></a></li> <li><a href='Contact.html'"><font color="584842"vlink="#bb2826"alink="#584842">Contact</font></a></li> </Div> It works locally but once uploaded to there servers I get a "page not found" after clicking a link. The link to the index page works but not the others. The people at fatcow where completely useless and just kept saying it was a scripting issue. however, if it were a scripting issue it wouldn't work locally. Any insight? I am wondering if it is possible to create an INDEX.HTML to redirect to another website? I would like it to display the redirected site, but if possible keep to the original address.. e.g. A site named www.mysite.com, with an INDEX.HTML to redirect to www.othersite.com, which displays OTHERSITE with www.mysite.com in the address bar. Hope I explained ok, any responce would be much appricated! Thanks! Hello I am a total newbie to html and I am sure this can probably be answered in a second.... I am trying to make my title text very large to make a statement - maybe 5 cm high. It doesnt seem to matter how big i make it in my nvu editor, ( in the normal screen mode) once i upload it to my webspace online it only appears at a much smaller size. I can make it so the title literally fills the screen in my nvu editor and then upload it to my webpage and it still restricts the maximum size it shows it at. Does it sound like i am doing something wrong in my nvu html editor or should i be using some html text in the source mode to make the large text recognisable to my webspace, ie: using some font size comands? I hope this makes sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Alex |
