HTML - How To Demo My New Site Before Uploading The Pages?
-Sorry if this one doesnt belong here, didnt know where else to ask-
I finished the first version of a site for my first client (yay me!) and it is pure HTMl and CSS I wanted to upload it to show it to them, but they tell me their previous webmaster showed them the sites BEFORE putting it live... How do I do that? they dont want anybody to go to "www.mysite.com" and see the site before is complete. Thank you in advance for your answers! All of the files have been uploaded to the "www" folder on the server. When I type in the web address on the computer I upload from it appears to be live and working. I was wondering, how do I go about makeing a code, (Or copying and pasteing if there is one) that will allow my friends and I to upload pictures onto a page, without logging into the web host. hi i created a new site so i created one folder name "new site" inside this folder i have three folders "pics" , "pages" , "text" and my index.htm file when i open my smart ftp and put my server addres i connect with no problems so i copy and paste my "new site" folder into my ftp and the transfer goes perfect no erros , but when i type my web addres i get this error message "403" can you please help me solve thid problem am using awardspace hosting . Hosted with a free createandhost account. It may take a while for them to reply to my newly opened ticket. The pages that are blank have been working fine for months until a few days ago. I'm trying to remove the .html extension at the end of my site pages. Example: My pages currently looks like this: www.example.com/about-us.html and I want them to look like: www.example.com/about-us My hosting is on godaddy shared windows. Whenever I try to manually change it to "http://www.example.com/about-us", I get a 404 error. I have tried to use .htaccess with no success, can it be used on a windows based server? Thanks in advanced for any help Hey guys I need some help regarding a website I made from a template. you can view the site at http://www.goosetrailbnb.com/ The problem is that when you click on the links in the bottom navigation bar, it will only show the page for a second (not properly aligned) and then redirect back to the index.html automatically. If you click the links on the menu up top in the flash header, the links work fine. I am using iframe....so my pages are index.html, iframe_0.html, iframe_1.html, iframe_2.html and so on. I have the links set as iframe_0.html etc for the links in the bottom navigation bar. Any help would be appreciated!!! For example, in the pic, if you clicked Cost it would load a page within the loading area without taking off to another location. I seen it on a site before, i remember the links were something like "/?p=cost" or something like that. I understand that I need to purchase a hosting service. I tried that, and didn't understand what to do. Bethan I use frontpage to edit my page (so I can view it before uploading it to the web) It shows exactly the way I want it when I save it and view it on my HD but once I upload it to the server... it's the same... So, basically I am left with a mostly done website, including code for a sliding bar of pictures (sorry for the non-technical phrases) for the online shop section of the site. Hello everyone. I'm new to HTML and experimenting... I have a domain www.thomgreg.com linux hosted by godaddy. I've started going thru "Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML" and am in chapter 2. On my local computer the pages displayed fine but after uploading to the server the text displays but the images do not. I have all the images and html files in the same directory, a directory called "html" directly off of root. the img src element I'm using is: <img src="drinks.jpg"> and, again, drinks.jpg and index.html are in the same directory. The home page displays without the image though...!! Also if I try to show the drinks.jpg directly by using www.thomgreg.com/html/drinks.jpg I get a page cannot be found error. Any ideas...?
