HTML - Html Aboslute Paths
I have a scenario on my job where we have a web server with two drives (C: and D: ) Drive C: has all of the main web pages (.asp and .HTML) but is quickly becoming full (because of application software).
As a result we have started to store newer files (images, documents etc..) on drive D:. From within the web page code on drive C, I need to access those files on the second drive (d: ) as document links and have tried code such as href = "/d|/folder1/folder2/file name" where d is the D: drive containing the documents to be opened in the browser but I get "page cannot be found" when I test it in IE. Can anyone tell me how to access files across drives that are on the same web server? Similar TutorialsOn the Apple website (just using it as an example), if you click the Downloads tab at the top of the navigation bar, you end up at this page: http://www.apple.com/downloads/ If you mouse over the "All downloads" are on the left, and then click "Audio", you wind up he http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/ How is it that they're able to create file paths like these without ending the link with .html? Hi there! I've got this .htaccess Code: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^(.*/)$ index.php?$1 RewriteRule ^(.*#)$ index.php?$1 RewriteCond %{ENV:REDIRECT_STATUS} ^$ RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.mysite\.com\.ar$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.)?([^\.]+)\.mysite\.com\.ar$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?$1 [QSA,L] So far it redirects whatever that looks like a folder (/something/, with an ending slash), and also any kind of subdomains. Now I wish to make use of those subdomains for languages (like: us.mysite.com.ar, for the USA site). Thing is, ALL of my images are linked like: HTML Code: src="/images/myimage.png" So whether I'm on a different subdomain than the regular one, the images won't be linked correctly. Aaaand it's priority that the subdomain remains in the URL (no redirection). Is there any way out of this without me having to replace every image (there are at least 200 xD)? Otherwise, I could redirect everything to index.php no matter what is it, and then have it generate the corresponding file (in case of an image or other file), or generate a page (in case of a folder, like, i dunno: mysite.com.ar/news/). But isn't this a lot slower and heavier for the server?. Anyway, please help me to have images in my site no matter what's the subdomain >.< Thanks everyone for your ideas in advance!! =) Hi, I have a php include menu on my website, which will link to pages in different folders and subdomains. However I don't know how to make it work on all pages because the root folder will be different, as pages are in a lot of different places. e.g. index.php for the homepage doesn't work for pages out of the main folder. As the same menu will be included on all pages, it will have to work for all folders and subdomains. I've tried absolute paths e.g. /home/username/public_html/....file which doesn't work. the only way I have found to work is http://www.pagelocation.. I didn't really want to use that way though. can anyone offer any help? thanks Hi all, Im working with HTML and JSP and trying to select a file using the file chooser. <input type="file" name="fileChooser"/> . When it selects the file it only gives my the final filename of the image and assumes the image is held on the server. How do i ensure that the filename it gets is the absolute path to the image in my filespace? Thanks for reading my problem! But now I noticed that when my pages pull up in the search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN. They still show the old .HTML links?? When they click on the webpages from the search engines results you get error 404 page cannot be found. How can I update the search engines or add code to my page so the search engines will reflect the new .PHP pages. Also it's been over a good week since I've update to .PHP Thank you all in advanced!! Hi everyone, I've been searching around the web trying to find out how I can send using Outlook a html and text email newsletter automatically. I am quite happy creating html only newsletters, and text ones for that matter, but I have been digging and believe that by using multi-part code I can send to both and the recipients email client "allows" whichever version to be displayed - does this sound right? I'm hoping to simply create the html with the relevent mime references and boundaries (dont know what they are but have seen them on enough Google'd pages to know that they mean something!) and then copy and paste into Outlook - the newsletter is only going out to a few people at a time. Any suggestions or advice would be very greatly appreciated. Regards Allan Hi, so I'm trying to make this e-mail newsletter. It's entirely images, tables and text. So no javascript, just plain stuff. I tried attaching it as a signiture file and I had trouble sending it. It also didn't come out right. I'm trying to avoid using a software. Its basically just a block of HTML I need to show up as the only content in an email. If you just put HTML into a email text field, it just shows the HTML code in the email as text. Any ideas? As the title states I've been using Microsoft Word 2000 to create my web page but now want to make a simple no frills html HTML document. Is there a simple and quick way to do it ? I know I can simply create a new HTML document and then just copy and paste the links but is there a utility that can do this ? Many thanks Hello Friends, I need a tool which can remove HTML comments from an HTML page. I don't want to create a regular expression to remove HTML comments rather I need a tool which should have command line support also so that it can be integrated with build process. Please advice. I am still new to the web page world, but the website I originally created (in japanese) was passed on to a programmer. He did a lot of "upgrades" to the site so he says, but he left. Now I am in charge again of re-modeling the site. The problem is I am trying to figure out why there are so many dead links. I have looked up and down the server, but can't find anything. Ok before I confuse anyone else here is what I am talking about. For example this page that I originally made : Code: http://www.discoveryfirm.com/tokushu/index.html cannot be found but if I take of the end: http://www.discoveryfirm.com/tokushu/ the page is there. Now I am trying to fix a lot of dead links, but I cannot figure out what the programmer did to the site. I am still new to all the high-tech features in the web world. Could somebody please explain. Hi all, I've just joined your forum today as I've got a problem I can't seem to resolve with my tumblr html. I'm not sure whether any of you are familiar with tumblr, but it's basically a social networking blogging site. First of all, my url is http://king-of-diamonds.tumblr.com/ I have edited the html of my page a lot but there is one problem that I can't fix: If you have a look at my blog, you will notice that between the posts there is a little white line/space that I have tried my best to get rid of. Does anybody know how I can get rid of it? You can have a look at the html of my blog (currently) by clicking this link. Thanks in advance! Hello everybody, I'm new here. I'm redesigning my own website and came up with some tricky situation. I write HTML lessons and I want to put just the pure code in my posts, but they appear as a regular html document... How do I make the code to be shown just as text (code), like we do in the forum boards (code tags or whatever)? I have read a lot of the posts on this subject, but have not found an answer to my problem. I am rebuilding my site and renaming/moving some pages; most will stay with the same name/location. My site is hosted on a windows server (godaddy,) and I do not have access to IIS manager and the windows server does not do php. I have good coverage by search engines worldwide, and I'd like to keep it. All help much appreciated. Can I put an HTML page within a html page in a table? I have this template that I need to email to people, it will not be on my website. Wow ever I need to change the information in one table every few days. The information is live I think it's called. It's like if I place google adsense in that table and decide to change it to ad-clicks later, I can't send everyone a new template, I need to be able to change just the information within that table. I'm going to go read up on frames, haven't used them in years. Any ideas! ~eDee |
