I am now learning HTML because i realised how important it is...and im stuck in this thing PHP Code: var alternateContent = 'Welcome to mywebsite' + 'Please download Flash Player to view content.' + '<a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer/">Download Flash</a>'; document.write(alternateContent); // insert non-flash content } // --> </script> <img src="Html_logo.jpg" alt="" width="273" height="46" longdesc="http://Html_logo.jpg" /> </body> </html> this is part of the code ...didnt post it all since it was too much... What i need to do is to color the text yellow "Welcome to my website . Please download Flash Player to view content" I tried <FONT COLOR = "######"> but didnt work... Also how do i add the HTML_logo Above the text ..? Any ideas? Similar TutorialsI am building a site from scratch, and since I dont have images yet, I am using image placeholders. I havent used frames, which may be my issue, but I used separate images on top for buttons and then a large image in the middle, and then a couple more buttons as images on the bottom of the page. Now when I try to align the middle image to the right so i can put buttons on the left, everything on the bottom half of the page moves to the rght as well, instead of just the middle image. Why is this happening, should i be using 4 separate frames on this page for each section? i am not to familiar with them, so i havent used them so far. Also, alot of the functions for images arent available, is that because they are just image placeholders? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks the title makes it sounds really confusing. Ok im making my first website, and i need help with a code, (as you can see on www.dalekblaster.co.uk) i have got a section at the top where the images change from one to another. (but so they can go to different pages not the same one) can anyone help me? hey ive been doing html a little while now and to move things around my webpage ive been using the <div> tag but when i change the screen resolution the images / words move to a different placee is there another way of doing it so they dont move if im adjusting the screen resolution somebody please help Hi everyone, I am an illiterate HTML dummy , and I am hoping someone could help me with some code for a page I am working on. I'm maintaining a website that is mostly hlml, but has some php pages for form validation and email x-fer. The site is currently running at 1&1 hosting service and I need to move it in-house. I have setup a new server with 2003 server R2 and IIS 6 with PHP 5.x installed. When I moved the site files to the local server the site no longer parses correctly. The problem is the imbeded PHP require(); statements in my html document no longer get parsed. In fact the only way I can get php code to get parsed is to give the files a .PHP extension, then the HTML tags don't get parsed. This site has been running for years at 1&1 with this method and I am really not at liberty to change the file extensions until an entirely new site is completed. Environment; 2003 server r2 IIS 6 PHP 5.x the code is like this; <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>...</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> <meta name="author" content=".."> <meta name="subject" content="..."> . . head stuff . </head> <body> <?php require ("toplabel.html"); ?> <!-- End ImageReady Slices --> <table border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0" width="770"> <tr> <td height="600" bgcolor="#c1c1c1" width="20%" valign="top"> <!-- Left Side Column --> <? require ("left_column.html") ?> <!-- End Left Side Column --> </td> <td width="60%" align="center" valign="top"> <!-- Main Content . . . --> ... etc. the toplabel.html are my image ready slices for our logo and top menu the left column.html is for the left side menu bar all the pages in the site make these calls. My htaccess file is like this; AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php .html .htm AddType x-mapp-php4 .html .php .php3 .php4 .inc .htm AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .shtml .html .htm AddType application/x-httpd-php .html I need to get the server to parse the files like the server is is currently live on at 1&1 hosting. The server there with parse the php code embedded inside of HTLM docs. and will parse the HTLM code embedded inside the PHP files. What I have now does neither. Any ideas? Update; Found out that IIS does not use .htaccess file for directory managment, these changes where for not... I'm looking into the application mapping in IIS Manager, think the answer might lie in there somewhere... Okay. I have been experimenting and learning pretty well with the help of the experts here. But now I have run into a little problem that I can't figure out. So here I am again seeking expert help. I am using a table. In one of the columns (or cell or whatever its the proper terminology) I have an image (for my navigational map). I would like to be able to move the image up in the column. Right now it (the image map) sets much lower than other pages and I would like to have everything look uniformed. Any suggestions? To get a better idea what I am talking about, the page with the image that is low can be seen here. The way I would like it to look can be seen here. Thanks, Vance Hi, I'm a beginner, so I realize that my question will be silly - sorry for that. I'm just doing a tutorial on html/css. I created a simple website, with stylesheet and image. Everthing was hunky dory as long as files were sitting on the desktop. When I moved them to appropriate folders (I created "html", "css" and "img" folders on desktop), changed the paths from /style.css to css/style.css and from imgname.jpg to img/imgname.jpg, the site completely ignores styles and image. Then once I move it back to the desktop it stats reading it correctly. It's weird for me and I can't find the reason. I checked all paths million times and there is no error there. Whole operation should be super obvious, yet I can't resolve it. I'd appreciate your help. Thank you in advance, JJ Hello friends, I am making a login page which takes 2 fields:- 1) user name 2)password Now I want these 2 fields to be colored yellow or blue in the background just like how "gmail" appears to us. Can you please tell me how to change the color inside the textbox from white to any other color. If possible can you please give me a sample code....... So, I wanted to insert text in an image, it worked. PHP Code: .background-image { z-index: -1; } .overlay-text { position: absolute; top: 160px; left: 180px; } PHP Code: <img src="UNDERPART.png" class="UNDERPART.png" /> <p class="overlay-text">HOJ HAAJ HOI HI HOEI DOEJ</p> But now I would like to know how I can change the color of this text, regular stuff doesnt work? I have googled and googled and i still can find this simple question. I wanna know how to make text color boxes. So for example like.. what im talking about is like. picture just inverting a box around a word. so its a black box around in and white text inside. I wanna know how alter the text color and the box color. thx again. So, I tried to use CSS to make my background text black. It hasn't worked... not quite sure why. Here is the site again: Thesoulofashark.com Cheers Using CSS, the heading at the top of the page is: h2 class="title">text</h2> That line is supposed to give me text of a certain size and color and a certain number of spaces above and below it - However, when combined with <a href="workshops.html#Name">hyperlink text</a> and <center>same hyperlink text</center> in any combination, the best I can hope for is the correct font size that comes out white (it's supposed to be blue) - I am a monkey when it comes to this - I just copy what somebody else did on the site - but am now at a loss - because copying it is not making it happen - Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. So I've got this site, www.jackfrankfurter.com/urbanarch.html and I've got a navigation bar across the top. When you first get to the site, the rollovers work fine but once each page has been visited, the text changes to the "visited" color and the rollover color stops working. Is there something I'm doing wrong in my style page? It looks like this: @charset "UTF-8"; /* CSS Document */ body {background:#000000; color:#666666; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;} a:link {color:#CCCCCC; text-decoration:none;} a:hover {color:#71CEEA;} a:visited {text-decoration:none; color:#F96;} img {border:1px #C5DC79;} .thumbnumber {color:#666666; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:10px;} Thank you for all your help. It is most appreciated. Yours, Gidmeister Okay, I can't remember what they're called, but the vertical lines that are often used to separate links... I've got CSS defining the color of my text, but these lines remain unchanged in the same section. How can I fix this? Here's the CSS: Code: a.linksBot { color: #c0c0c8; text-decoration: underline; } And the HTML: Code: <div class="linksBot"> <p class="linksBot"><a href="index.html">Home</a> | <a href="music.html">Music</a> | <a href="video.html">Video</a> | <a href="contact.html">Contact</a></p> </div> |
