HTML - Drop Down Forms And Retrieving Selected Value

I am using a Selection/Drop Down box in my form. I use a database to populate the drop down box, which is working fine. A sample bit of the result would look like this: <option value="1">California> <option value="2">Nevada> etc. etc. This appears to be working just fine - the drop down box is fully populating and displaying as expected. My form "action" needs to "know" which option was selected, so that it can send the ID value (1,2,3,etc) to the next page and continue executing accordingly. The only area where I am having trouble is in this line: <form method="post" action="details.php?id=[[WhatGoesHere??]] ">... (note that "details.php" is a valid file, works great if I hard code this line with a valid ID #) I am totally unclear as to what code should go after 'id=' This is easy, right? I just don't know the syntax/code. Do I have to go to Javascript to get the <option value> of the selected item? Doesn't the form have a way to give me this value? Drop Down Menu 1 "Product" --------------------------------------- Please select 0 Product A 1 Product B 2 then when you select e.g. Product A from this menu, this opens a new drop down menu called "Colour" directly below the original drop down menu-1 Drop Down Menu 2 "Colour" --------------------------------------- Please select 0 Green 1 Red 2 But if you select Product B from the first menu, it opens a slightly different drop down menu called "Size" Drop Down Menu 3 "Size" --------------------------------------- Please select 0 Medium 1 Small 2 So basically initially i want only Menu 1 visible, but when you select different options within the menu, you get a different drop down menu selection so basically different drop down menu selections for various scenarios based on the selection in the first menu so from menu 1, selecting: - Product A gives a menu about its colour - Product B gives a menu about its size - Product x gives a menu about its y so many thanks for all of you that help me. sorry for sounding confusing or stupid, i just dont know the correct jargon for my aims thanks Hi guys, I've been frustrated for awhile trying to fix three of my problems. I just started making a site for myself today, the specific one is http://www.bcsticketsnow.com/rosebowl.html Anyway, I've got three problems, and appreciate any help anyone can offer on any of them: 1. I'm new to frames, and am told to stay clear of it. But I don't know php, so this is the only way I know to make a header, middle and footer on all 20 pages that I'm going to have where I only need to edit one to change all. So I have 3 frames in the frameset, header, mainrosebowl, and footer. I understand that cols="220,*,100" will make the header 220 pixels, the footer 100 px, and the middle part the rest of the window. But I'm trying to figure out a way to have it go deeper than the window. As you can tell, I've got a scroll bar on that middle frame. I want that frame to extend to more than 100% and push the footer below the visible window. So I'm really looking for a big scroll bar for the entire window to scroll down, not a mini scroll bar just for the middle frame. Is this possible? Having the cols add up to only the size of the window isn't what I'm looking for. 2. In the header frame, I've got that drop down menu (says "Bowl Events"). When I put the form in for the drop down menu, it kind of expanded the height of the table. It had less space before in that row of the table with the blue background. When I put the form in there, it kinda messed up the spacing. I essentially want to delete that space below bowl events to make the height of the row of that table like half the size. Any ideas? 3. For that same drop down menu, I'm trying to target each link in that menu to open up a new window (like target="_top"). But putting it after <option value="URL" target=..."> does nothing. Am I supposed to put it in the javascript? looking for a way to make sure that each time a page is loaded, it retrieves the latest version off of the server without the user having to click Refresh/Reload. The page has news items on it and sometimes it doesn't load the updated page, but the page that is in the browser's cache. I know this option can be changed in the Browser's properties, but I want a way to do this automatically without requiring that users change this preference. I need to create a form with a submit button. When pressed, the form will retrieve data (a list of options) from a remote url then display those options in a Select element. Can anyone provide me with any sample code or point me in the right direction for how I should go about achieving this? What I want to do is to expand on what the "Bundles" are before sending by email. For example, if "Bundle 2" is selected, then "id_products" equals "Bundle 2". When I select an option, I want that option to become the selected option. I have got this template which has a top nav bar, and if it is selected it has a class="current" for CSS. I am using it in a template so when one updates they all do. This is where the problem occurs. I cannot set each one to current on the nav bar. I could make the nav bar and editable region, however I dont want to, as then if I update it, it wont up date any of the others. I've also tried just 'selected', and selected="yes" but to no avail. Thanks Hello, I am facing a weird problem in IE which is not happening with other browsers. Open the following website: http://www.clinicasdefertilidadenlima.pe/ You will see 3 combo boxes on this page displaying "Lima". Click on any combo and select any other value like Lima or Arequipa. Page will refresh but now combo will not show selected value which should always be "Lima" (I have hard coded it) If you take a look at the HTML source then it's a simple combo box and I have even defined selected="selected" for "Lima" value but in IE it only displays selected value when you open home page. After that it doesn't show value when you select value from combo box. I am using IE9.
