HTML - Converting Page Design Images To Html: What Approach Would You Take?
I'm in charge of doing the coding for a site that's been designed by a graphic designer with no knowledge of code. I like his designs, and the client wants me to make the site look exactly like them. They're .psd files representing each page. He sent me almost all of the images, but not the background and not certain key decorations (the guitar pics). I told him I needed the background, but his hard drive died (without being backed up) before he could send it to me. He doesn't seem to remember what font he used either.
In light of all that, and the fact that the client wanted to get a basic version of the site up asap, I just converted the PSD's to JPEG's, uploaded them as whole pages, and used div's and image maps to add links and additional content. But that is obviously not a long-term solution. In fact, it's causing browser compatibility issues right now. And it's not accessible . . . etc. So I need to replicate these page design images using HTML or XHTML, and CSS. I can probably find a similar background and font to work with, but I just don't know where to begin. I haven't worked with CSS in years, but it looks like I'd probably need to use it. I'm not asking anyone to do my job for me. I'm just wondering how you would approach this task. Does anyone have time to look at the images and point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance, Kluserner I am building a site that has a page with some bullet points, at the end of each point will be a link saying more info, the more info will be scanned in documents which I have had to make 750px wide so they are still readable, The best way I can see to do this is when the more information link is clicked the scanned document relating to the point will open in a new window with just this image only on the page. Sadly the scanned images cant be typed up as text as it is the actual scanned document that needs to be seen. Just interested in anyback in case there is a better way of doing this. Here's a simple question (I hope): I want to query the Navy's public site for moon cycle/period information from within my own code. There's a page (here) that provides a form to get what I want per day per location. But when I pull out the form info from that page source and place it in my own page, the form doesn't work. Is this a workable approach? An alternative would be to use another form on the same site (here) that results in a table of info for a whole year's worth of data. I could go either way as parsing either table is pretty straightforward for me. Since the forms are similar, it seems like getting on of those forms to work at all is the crucial issue, or is there another way to query data on the net like that? The data is in text in the following format, <link title> "/" <actual http link> "/" <description> I could type each link into html but there is got to be a way to do it automatically.. since it is already formated in a text file with a clearly defined delimiter. Thanks Hi there, I have a form where people submit information to a site through a form; some people reference outside websites, but the links for them aren't clickable (no <a href... tag), just text so people would have to copy and paste it to use it. And I am simply wondering how this can be done? In a way which enables the waveforecast to progress downwards out there, without pushing the other tables / content downwards. I have made a rigid non repeated background image on a webpage I am designing using html and css code. Above the image is a title of the page which is "About Us". I want the "About us" to be rigid and non moving and to stick with the background image while the rest of the text on the page will be free scrolling. What code should I use to accomplish this.
