HTML - Flash-site Not Showing Up In Ie...help?
Hello everybody!
My name is Myron, and I'm a bit stumped on a code we are using at school. The teachers gave us the following HTML we could use for a site we made, but so far it seems to be only working on FireFox and Chrome I'll use this site as an example: http://www.hildevos.com/ As you can see, IE seems to be loading the page, but then fails to show the Flash-component in the middle of the screen. FireFox and Chrome don't seem to have this problem, which is nice, but I really want to run the site on all webbrowsers! I have made some movies in flash, but i understand that people with old versions of flash player, will not be able to see them. Is it possible to show an image instead of the flash movie if the recommended flash player is not installed?? i.e. my movies are 320px height and 426px wide, if the flash player is not installed i would like to show a photo (320px * 426px) instead. Thanks Leroy Dear everyone at HTML forums, Shalom, After making a website completely in Flash, I am now trying to partly convert it to HTML using tableless XHTML and CSS to make the text accessible to Google robots. What I have done so far looks fine on my computer but when I review it on multiple browsers using browsershots.org the browsers either fail to load the Flash .swf content and load only the bitmap .jpg content or the exact opposite but never both types of content together. What I want to be able to do is position the elements one on top of each other, but have their height set to 100% rather than a fixed amount, and for them to be centered. Any ideas? I was hoping to code the whole thing in html, but was having some problems with the horizontal scrolling portion of the site. You can see how it looks he jcolt.com There are 2 main things that are holding me back from this being entirely html: I'd like to change the appearance of the scroll bar, so it looks like what i've done in the current flash version. I'm also trying to map the scroll wheel on the mouse to scroll horizontally, across the gallery. Currently it works like this in the flash version, but again, trying to do it in html. I've seen it done successfully on this site: http://www.ptarmak.com/ My question is mainly; how complicated would this be to do? I have a working knowledge of html, but most of this site has been trial and error. Secondly, could anyone point me in the direction of code, or a discussion of how to do this? We changed the nameservers for a domain to a different hosting company and made up a new site for that host. Everything went fine. When I view the site on my computer the new site is there as it should be. However on my friend's computer it's still pulling up the old site with the old host, even though we've cleared out all the cookies, cache, etc. Sometimes the new site will pop up for a bit, then the old site shows up again, only on his computer. We're both going through the same internet service provider and I can't think of a single reason why his computer would be doing that. Any ideas? Greetings all, i have a site that i've tested on my servers, and everything looks great in IE, FF, Eudora, etc... but then when i post it to the client's server, it appears fine in IE, but in FF (through Netscape), it gets these funny characters everywhere (see attached). Like 'A's w/ carats over them at the spaces and such... i don't know if this is something correctable in my code, or if it's a difference in hosting environments. Can anyone help me to make sure the flash displays right? what happens is the player loader displays at the top instead of the center and the control buttons are present before it loads. then after the loader fails it shows a "cannot connect" error. so I think the flash object is resizing inside its self. can anyone help me clean up this script so it will display correctly in iPhone safari (with flash enabled)? website is he smalldotdesign.zxq.net/iSwim.html that is where the HTML file is located that I am trying to get corrected. thanks in advance. i have a feeling this is going to be a tough fix. I am wondering if it is possible to create an INDEX.HTML to redirect to another website? I would like it to display the redirected site, but if possible keep to the original address.. e.g. A site named www.mysite.com, with an INDEX.HTML to redirect to www.othersite.com, which displays OTHERSITE with www.mysite.com in the address bar. Hey, Im making a site for a client and we've hit a dead end one one thing i particular The whole site we've made is HTML and Images only. The only flash element is the Navigation bar at the top. With out making 2 dedicated flash/non flash sites, how do we make it so that if flash is not detected on the viewers computer then the flash navigation will not show, but instead show a java script rollover nav bar? So its detected to be there but some how doesnt pick up the content of the (swf.). And I have to be honest I really don't know much about html at all.... I use it for my website and band myspace layout. This is for a photographers myspace.
