HTML - Display Discrepancies Between Browsers

I have just finished coding this website from scratch. It displays correctly in Chrome and Safari, but IE and Firefox add weird borders around my pictures and throw off my alignment. What causes this and how do I fix it? Similar TutorialsHi, I'm writing a website using tables (0 border and space etc.) so that things don't move around on different computers and browsers. However, I've run into a bit of trouble with a particular cell. The one in questions is my navigation menu. I have it written in php as a separate page and used the include tag to load it onto the index. It consists of a table of height 600 and a single column with a couple of cells. Now, from my reasoning, the the 600 table height of the nagivation menu/page should easily fit into the 600 cell height of it's space on the index. This is reflected when I view the page using IE - all of the border/frame images that I had made went together perfectly. However, when I view the page with FireFox, the navigation menu seems to be too short in that the first navigation cell does not immediately appear after the top border line. There is a blank white space. Also, it seems to have stretched that particular row because the right most border on the index, which is not connected to anything else and is it's own image, is centerized so that there is white space left (indicating the cell was incremented height wise). Does anyone know if this is a fixable discrepancy? A link to the test page is: VA Test Page I can provide a link to the menu page if it's needed... Anxiously awaiting a reply whether it's related or not Hello all, This is my first post to this forum. I hope somebody can help me with the two problems I am having because I have tried to solve them for hours and have not gotten anywhere. I just don't have enough knowledge so your help would be appreciated. Here is the link to a demonstration page I created: http://sikhfaith.com/demo/ In Firefox 2.0, the huge header picture is displayed flush with the top of the page, as I want it to be. Yet in IE 7.0, there is a small white gap above the header. I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of it in IE so that the display is consistent between browsers. Second, in IE 7.0, you can see the menu bar I created which is flush with the bottom of the header picture as I intended. Yet in Firefox 2.0, this menu bar is hidden BEHIND the header picture. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thank you. Hi guys I have a pic in my templates folder with the html document in the the same folder. I just read a link from a web mag, and found a pretty smart service: 1. Go to http://browsershots.org/ 2. Select the OS/Browsers you want to check against 3. Select the "user" options 4. Well, it seems that the same code appears differently in other browsers (opera and internet explorer, for example). So, I have two questions: a) What is the problem that is causing the same page to appear differently when displayed by different browsers? b) How can I fix it? Thanks. P.S.: If this question is answered in another thread please inform me and accept my apology for not searching out myself. Hello, I created this Wordpress theme http://www.ilmondodeidoppiatori.it/news/ It's perfect with Firefox but if I open it with Safari, the whole central column goes below the rest of the content: how can I fix it? Thanks in advance When checking if a site shows correctly, which browsers should I try? I usually check on IE5 and NETSCAPE similar version... Thanks Mainly IE. I've created my first site using HTML and it displays fine for now using Firefox, Chrome and Safari, however I can't get it right with IE. I'm testing it with IE8. I've done a ton of googling and have tried Transitional and Strict doctypes, but regardless I can't seem to get my page to look the same in all the browsers. I've done the site in Transitional but when I open it in IE a few graphics are out of place. So I then tried changing the doctype to strict and the graphics matched the out-of-placeness in IE with the other browsers, but then something else in IE gets messed up that isn't in the others. So basically, whether I use strict or transitional I can't get all the browsers to work. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ok, I have the basic layout for my site down. I uploaded it to my firends server, you can find it at lithium-games.com. lithium-games.com It looks ok in IE, but things load wierd in firefox, and almost not at al in opera. This is stumping me as I dont know why/what is making it do this. It kinda stinks. |
