HTML - Print Page Shows Unchanged Checkbox In Ie With Doctype
Hi Guys,
Strange problem. I have a simple webform where users can fill in text and check/uncheck some checkboxes. When this is printed to pdf or paper (or print preview) in IE (7 or 8) the checkboxes are printed unchanged. E.g. user sets a check, this is printed unchecked ... or with a pre-checked box with the user unchecked, is printed checked. Same goes for the radio. Only when I remove the DocType completely, IE prints it correctly. But I need to use XHTML-strict. This is a simple example which fails in IE: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="nl" xml:lang="nl-NL"> <body> <input type='checkbox' name='y'/><br/> <input type='radio' name='x'/><br/> </body> </html> Doesn't work with any doctype I tested (loose or html4). Anyone a idea how to solve this? Many thanks, Michael Similar TutorialsThis image only shows when the doctype is NOT declared, and I can't figure out why. Code: <img src="images/logo.jpg" alt="" /> And here is my doctype: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> I ran the page through the W3C validator and there's no errors.... I'm pulling my hair out because I don't understand why an image would disappear when the doctype is removed. Anybody know why? Hi Guys. My website contains a lot of text, and its continually printed by clients as it includes pricing etc. At the moment my pricing page is 4 pages of paper, however I wish to be a touch kinder to mother nature and be a bit more eco-friendly so I have created a document with all the pricing on one page which I have saved as a PDF file. I would like to add a link on my website to "Printer Friendly Version" which would link to the PDF and would bring up a print dialog box. What coding would I need to do this? I think it may very well be Java but I'm not the brightest when it comes to this Any help appreciated! I hope this all made sense! Hello. I own a website called The Dakini Hut (located at http://populous.strategyplanet.games.../thedakinihut/). I'm having problems with my site, though. You see, I recently updated the layout and its really screwing up, but one of the major problems I'm having is that the whole page won't show. The navigation bar cuts off halfway and you can't see all of the pages/links. This only happens on pages where the navigation bar goes down further than the other tables. Can anyone help me fix this? By the way, it works fine in Firefox and Opera, just not in IE. Hi guys, new poster here. I just used Filezilla to change the index.html file of a website. What I did is paste my html into the document in textedit, saved it as html, then used filezilla to overwrite to old file in the site's directory. Now when I go to the site's index page, all I see is the markup from the file that I updated with. Why isn't it showing my design? Thanks a lot. Hi, I've been working on this page for quite a while: http://www.mymusiclair.com/supporter It displays correctly in Chrome, IE, and FF on my hard drive, but once i upload it it displays wrong in everything except IE. I used FrontPage 2003 to make it... any suggestions? Thanks, Vicky Hi. Im having a hard time getting this to work. I have bought a service from a phonenumber supplier and they will provide me with a database. But i need to create a searchform that queries and shows the results on the same page. I have all the strings and such to make it but i need an example on how to make this page. Its got to be in either php or html. I can not give you the url and such to the suppliers because it is classified. hehe But if anyone could give me a little helping hand here i will be very thankfull. Hi, how can I print the page ? <a>Print the page</a> should I use javascript ? which is the correct command (cross-platform) ? thanks I need a fool-proof method of making a page break for printing purposes. Nice clean break. I tried using the CSS method, but its doenst work in all browswerrs and is very finicky. Any suggestions? Can someone please tell me why this page does NOT print properly? http://www.unreal-deals.com/ebooks11...-printable.php I've tried everything I can possibly think of, removed all word html tags, cleaned up the source formatting, and still it doesn't work. Print preview on IE7 shows only 7 pages, and when I print it only prints 1 page then 60+ blank pages. Whats going on? Thanks Hello all, I am looking to see if there is a simple way to provide a print button for static Text and/or images within a simple table. The content will not change, so I want to see if I can provide a programmed print button for the content within each table. The application is a FAQ page of a website. Currently, the page is long and printing a particular FAQ item is not possible. Expecting the viewers to be web-savvy enough to know how to print selected text is out of the question, as well as providing them this tip in writing. There needs to be a print button. I found this: http://download.oracle.com/javase/tu...rinttable.html but since I am not familiar with coding much beyond basic html I am not sure if this applies or how to implement the code examples in a webpage. I use Dreamweaver MX '04 to edit page html. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. I need to know what the common practice is to open a printable page in a new window after a link is clicked. Something that you can print from the page or from the browser. Normally I would just open in a blank target but the window doesn't open up tight to the printable media. Any help would be great. Thanks! Hello all I was wondering is there a way in HTML/JSP to modify the original Print Page Setup, originally defined by the user? What I mean is that no matter what settings the user has on his Page Setup, I always want the page margins to be the following, when a user opens up my HTML and tries to print the page: Right = .75in, Left = .75in, Top = .4in, Bottom = .4in What I am using is the following CSS in my HTML: <STYLE TYPE="text/css" MEDIA="print"> <!-- BODY { margin-left: .75in margin-right: .75in margin-top: .4in margin-bottom: .4in } --> </STYLE> But it doesnt seem to work. If the orginal page margins defined by the user are more than what I am setting through my CSS, it doesnt seem to work. i.e. If the user has all his margins setup to .75in, my CSS doesnt seem to alter the same. I would be glad if someone could help. Thanks Hi all, I have a form with 4 pages, there are few checkbox in the 2nd page. The problem here is when the user fills in the 2nd form and moves on to the 3rd form, and in case if he comes back to the 2nd form using the back button on the browser, then how can i automatically check the checkboxes the user has already checked in the 2nd page of the form. Thanks James NT How improtant is the doctype tag? I am trying to teach myself html and am trying to figure out when to use what doctype. DOCTYPE basically tell the web browser what to expect when interpreting the html doc b/c html has been revised over the years, is that correct? Can someone please help me understand how to properly use the doctype tag and what is smart choice/ example of a specific doctype tag is and the reasoning behind why 'this' doctype tag is a smarter choice than an alternate doctype tag? Thank you! -Matt H. When I add a doctype it completely ruins my whole page layout. How can i fix this? Without: it fits my whole page and looks nice. With doctype: it squishes everything to the top. Help please. I have a doctype problem on my site which I cannot get rid of... Im using utf-8 have tried the below: !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML+RDFa 1.0//EN" "http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/DTD/xhtml-rdfa-1.dtd"> --> !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML+RDFa 1.0//EN" "http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/DTD/xhtml-rdfa-1.dtd"> !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> Many things are happening and I have read a lot of docs handling this... What do you suggest that I do? (Hmmm, - I need dansih characters... ) (In mysql working on the site I cannot see the correct characters... A workaround are being used...) Regards, Frank <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> this line seems to be at war with firefox. for some unknown reason my banner has a space between the lower body (it shouldn't). It is fine in IE and fine if the above line is not included. It seems to be adding some sort of padding into the table cells where the images are, somehow because of the domument type. ---------- Anyone have any solutions? LINK: http://uniden.zzl.org/ Again it is FINE in IE, but not if FF. HTML is Valid according to W3c Validator. Thanks in advance I am totally confused about DOCTYPE code. My site does not have any doctype code on it and works fine, however been playing about with some jquery script and it wanted a doctype on my site to work. I have tried all the different doctypes listed on the w3 site and all make my site look strange and text/images all over the place the only way the site looks ok is without doctype. please advise the site in question is http://virtualhunterston.eu.org example test page with doctype added http://www.virtualhunterston.eu.org/...0-%20Copy1.htm Well, this is how it started - I'm using XHTML strict but by accident I placed the doctype after the <html> tag. I've now finished the website and realised the error, so I moved it above <html>. The problem is that now in IE it looks like this: http://img187.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_350lo.jpg but in Firefox, it renders perfectly like this: http://img150.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_842lo.jpg As you can see in IE it produces a big gap between the logo and the login form. Edit Figured it out - a very stupid mistake I was floating the logo to the left and the form to the right but I'd set the logo div's width at 25% and the form div's width at 100%. Just out of curiosity - anyone know why this error wouldn't show until the doctype was enforced and why it didn't show in firefox? Do I have an incorrect doctype set for my new layout? www.bkriegtech.net I have a huge amount of errors when I run the w3c validator... |
