HTML - How Let 1 Index.htm Pick 1 Of 2 Other Links, Dynamic With A Rule ?
Hi guys, got a question about a html issue.
ill explain the situation, 2 persons publish htm files, this is automated, each html files is unique, so lets say person one creates indexa.htm and person two creates indexb.htm I need a general index who refer to either indexa or indexb, with the rule that it should pick the latest one changed or the newest one. Is this possible in pure html ?? Thanks in advance, Nim. Similar TutorialsI think there is a simple fix for this...but I can't think of it. My client has an existing site (not very well designed and no templates) with hundreds of static pages. She wants me to create a new home (index.htm) page that is just a simple landing page where people can choose to enter her website OR visit the store to purchase products. Simple enough...but, now all of the 100's of static pages have the link Home=index.htm on them. I want people to type in the URL: www.mysite.com (for example) and land on the new page to choose to go to the site to learn about her and her music OR go to the store to shop. Once they are in the site, however, and hit the home link, I don't want them to go 'all the way back out' to the new landing page. I want them to go back to the 'old' index.htm page (or her current home page), without having to change the index.htm links on those 100's of pages. Is there an easy fix for this, using a naming convention for the home page? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a bit stumped on this one. Hello, I'm trying to create a little page that auto updates itself whenever new files are added. The system is layered such that I have the top level index.html file, then in the same directory, I can add new folders that contain other index.html files. What I want to do is have the top level index.html file pick up every sub directory, grab the name from the directory, and then create a link to that directory's index.html file and then display it in the top level index.html file. So what I have right now is this: HTML Code: <body> <a href="myFirstDirectory/index.html">myFirstDirectory.html</a> </body> There is other stuff, but this is the part I need help with. As you can see, I also want the name that is displayed to be the same name as the directory. I do not know how to automate this if I have other folders in there like directory2, directory3, etc. Can anyone show me an example of how to do this or walk me through it? Thanks in advance. Let me see if I can explain this correctly: What I want to do is place all of my pages in a single external file (so that as I add pages, I only have to add that link to one file). Then, place links on each page for "Previous" and "Next". When "Next" is clicked, the next file in the list is linked and likewise with "Previous". As it stands, the only way I see to use "Previous" and "Next" is to hard code the links in each page. But that will become a pain since my pages are in alphabetical order and I would have to redo dozens (or more) pages each time I add a new page. Thanks in advance... With the "horizontal rule", is it possible to write over it? The reason I am asking is because I saw an example of a horizontal rule, and it reminded me of a footer. Are they used for footers if some cases? Cheers guys (and I apoligize for all the questions). Hi, hope someone can help. For some reason I can't seem to get a horizontal rule to show in my website and I can't for the life of me understand why ! Could someone advise me please. My code is below. My new webcam server sends a jpg file to my website just fine. But the filename is numeric with a jpg file extension. The webcam server waits the required time and then sends another jpg to my website. The problem is that the numeric file name is different and does not overwrite the existing file like my old webcam server used to do. So I end up with a number if jpg files in the directory with numeric filenames with the jpg extension. I need some code that will load the "latest jpg file" by date and time into my html page. Here is how I used to do it when the pic.jpg file was sent to my site and it overwrote the existing file. <head> <title>Mike's WebCam</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache"> <script language="Javascript"> <!-- function refreshCam(){ rfsh = new Date() ; rfsh = "?"+rfsh.getTime() document.images["webcam"].src = "pic.jpg"+rfsh setTimeout("refreshCam()", 240000) } //--> </script> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff" text="#080000" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"> <b><font size="3" face="Arial"><p align="center">Mike's Webcam</p></font></b> <center><img height="480" alt="The View" src="pic.jpg" width="640" border="0" name="webcam"></center> <script language="JavaScript"> <!-- if( document.images ) refreshCam(); //--> </script> </body> </html> I am hoping that there is a way to load the new numeric filename jpg into my html by selecting the "latest" jpg by date and time stamp. Thanks in advance Mike I finally figured out how to add text to my index and now I have another question. In my website template There is Heading 1 and a Heading 2 so my question is how do I delete any sections or headings that I don't need to make it go away on my home page. There is so much and I don't think I need all of it..... Thanks in advance Hi everyone, I hope I have posted this in the right area. This is my first time posting here. I currently have my main pages listed at the top of my site as graphics (see fussybaby.ca). I would like to potentially remove these graphics and use text links instead - I had the graphics designed for me, so I can't just go in and make new ones, however I'd like to change/rearrange the links and add some new ones. So my question is: How hard is this to do? Is this something I need to hire someone to do for me? Thanks in advance for any advice! so i want to have my navigation hover over my content, so when i scroll through my content it flows underneath the navigation.. i am putting the navigation div at z-index:3 and the content at z-index:1 but it wont slide beneath.. help pls here's my site: all css is done on the page so u can see it. http://levisternberg.com/joomla16/ hey wondered if anyone could explain how on my website I can get the "index of" to show? eg http://rofl.wheresthebeef.co.uk/ cheers! I've got a drop down menu (#howto) that works fine in every browser but IE7. The issue: when activated, the menu options appear behind the divs below (#wrapper and #branding). I've tried several z-index combinations, but haven't hit upon one that works. With 13% of my user base still on IE7, I'm stressing out! I have been searching on this subject but I can't seem to find the right answers. I would say you would want your page title and navigation to be indexed by search engines. Or in what cases you wouldn't want it to be indexed? The web site is public and serves mainly an informative purpose. I would be happy with anything that could help me, also resources where I can read about it for example. Kind regards! Here's my problem: I'm a subsciber with GeoCities/Yahoo, and had my html files stored. When I try upload my stuff to a certain forum I get a "File Not Found" msg. By looking around I learned that the problem might be the "index.htm" file, which needs to for each subdirectory separately. An example of such a file: http://www.geocities.com/d48uga/dice_tutorial09.html Could u help? Tnx Okay so recently I updated my website so the URL for my home page is now: http://www.benellett.com/index.php However I would either like to somehow make that page show up as just the base website: http://www.benellett.com/ or have the benellett.com page forward to the /index.php page. Preferably I want benellett.com/index.php to be the "home" page like it would be if it were index.html (like my old website in the link). Thanks a lot! |
