HTML - Frames Working In Safari But Not Firefox/ie
I am a graphic designer which is almost a complete idiot about web design, i have some problem making a web site. While i try to open my web site in FIREFOX and IE it does not work. (while safari works well)
the existing link is www.sindysindy.com when i click the targeted link on the top buttons (about&contact) it open up a new pop up page. I names the top frame as TOP, the bottom two named "menu" on the left and "mainframe" on the right. While clicking buttons on the "TOP" frame would show other buttons in menu targeting things to show up in "mainframe" i have already done a web site days ago and i am trying to redo it now : ( would be really really grateful if you can help Thank you very much indeed! The following are the codes: ****ALL FRAMES**** <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-frameset.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>www.sindysindy.com</title> </head> <frameset rows="75,551" cols="*" framespacing="10" border="10" bordercolor="#FFFFFF"> <frame src="TOP.html" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" id="TOP" /> <frameset rows="*" cols="176,1003" framespacing="0" frameborder="yes" border="0" bordercolor="#FFFFFF"> <frame src="Menu.html" id="Menu" /> <frame src="Maincontent.html" id="Mainframe" /> </frameset> </frameset> <noframes><body> </body></noframes> </html> ****TOP**** <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-frameset.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>www.sindysindy.com</title> </head> <frameset rows="75,551" cols="*" framespacing="10" border="10" bordercolor="#FFFFFF"> <frame src="TOP.html" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" id="TOP" /> <frameset rows="*" cols="176,1003" framespacing="0" frameborder="yes" border="0" bordercolor="#FFFFFF"> <frame src="Menu.html" id="Menu" /> <frame src="Maincontent.html" id="Mainframe" /> </frameset> </frameset> <noframes><body> </body></noframes> </html> ****mainframe**** <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-frameset.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>www.sindysindy.com</title> </head> <frameset rows="75,551" cols="*" framespacing="10" border="10" bordercolor="#FFFFFF"> <frame src="TOP.html" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" id="TOP" /> <frameset rows="*" cols="176,1003" framespacing="0" frameborder="yes" border="0" bordercolor="#FFFFFF"> <frame src="Menu.html" id="Menu" /> <frame src="Maincontent.html" id="Mainframe" /> </frameset> </frameset> <noframes><body> </body></noframes> </html> ****menu**** <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-frameset.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>www.sindysindy.com</title> </head> <frameset rows="75,551" cols="*" framespacing="10" border="10" bordercolor="#FFFFFF"> <frame src="TOP.html" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" id="TOP" /> <frameset rows="*" cols="176,1003" framespacing="0" frameborder="yes" border="0" bordercolor="#FFFFFF"> <frame src="Menu.html" id="Menu" /> <frame src="Maincontent.html" id="Mainframe" /> </frameset> </frameset> <noframes><body> </body></noframes> </html> Similar Tutorialshello. i've been working on a website and everything works/looks fine except when viewing the site with firefox on a mac... one of the pages has two frames that should work at the same time when a link is clicked on the page. however neither appear. i have another page which has only one frame and it is working fine. so i'm thinking there must be something in my code which is making it impossible for the two frames to work smoothly in firefox. i hope this makes sense... here is the problem page (with two frames, one to the left of the links and one above the links): and this page works fine (with one frame to the left of the links): if anyone can shed some light i'd really appreciate it, thankyou. You may have seen this question before, but I cannot for the life of me find an answer that works. I embedded a .swf flash file on a page on my website. This flash plays perfectly on IE and Chrome, but nothing shows up on Safari or Firefox. I, at first, wrote the code by hand. Then I instead used swfobject to properly write the code (this still hasn't fixed the problem) I used the w3 markup validation site to check the code, and it comes back with 0 errors. Any Ideas? The code is below: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en"> <head> <title></title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="posthink.swf"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> swfobject.registerObject("myFlashContent", "9.0.0"); </script> </head> <body> <div style="text-align: center;"> <object classid="clsid: D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="550" height="400" id="myFlashContent"> <param name="movie" value="posthink.swf" /> </object> </div> </body> </html> (I inserted a space in the classid= tag to do away with the : D turning into a smiley) Thanks for your help. Hi, I have a site that loads fine on Chrome and IE. Don't see a section of it on Safari or Firefox. Page comes up blank. its supposed to show flash object. The site is kidsooda.com The section page that does not work in Safari and FF is kidsooda.com/inside/#/contact If you have any ideas I'd really appreciate it. THANK YOU !! I have a simple slide over menu for navigation in a div. Safari and Firefox both work. ON IE it's shifted over to the right a little more and the slide over menus wont appear. Any options? Hi All, I am building a website that has traditional nested frames. I am staying away from iFrames for search engine purposes. I am having a problem lining up a fixed background and content on both IE and Firefox. I can get everything to line up perfectly in Firefox but then IE misaligns everything. When I try to line it up in IE it still doesn't line up perfectly and then screws it up on Firefox. The style I am using is: body { margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; background: url(img/content_bg.jpg) top center fixed no-repeat; background-attachment: fixed;} It's being used on this page: http://therestaurantdesigngroup.com/new/main.htm (Look at it in IE and FF, currently it's working in FF only) The entire site with frames is http://therestaurantdesigngroup.com/new/ (Look at it in IE and FF) If you want to look at the source files download them he http://therestaurantdesigngroup.com/new/mbaweb.zip I am not worried about the bottom frame at this time. I want to fix main.htm first. Thanks! Ryan The opening page for a site I am developing does not display correctly in Safari or Chrome, but does in Firefox and IE7. It passes the w3c validation. Not sure what I have missed? site Todd Solved by myself. Hello, my problem is simple, my code works in Safari and Firefox but does not work in Internet Explorer. The code is supposed to open up my other site inside a frame when visiting drewandjess.net. Works perfectly except with IE... it just displays some text that should be commented out. Just don't understand why this isn't working - 1x frameset (2 columns), 2x html for left and right, and a third html linked from the left frame that i'd like to load in the right. It doesn't - it loads in a new window. Any ideas? Many thanks Hi All, I am brand new to the forums. If you go to my site: www.wachusettchess.org using IE it will look fine. If you view the site using either Firefox or Safari, it's a mess with lots of overlapping text and boxes. Can anyone help me determine what the Firefox/Safari problem is? Thanks in advance. Dave Couture http://www.ptacnik.com/index102.html When previewing through Dreamweaver in ANY of these 3 browsers it looks fine. (from my local drive) But once online it only loads in Firefox. Is there something fishy with the frames perhaps? missing an XML doc on my end? I can't figure out what is causing this. Any help would be very much appreciated. http://www.ptacnik.com/nav1.html is the top frame and the list below are the frames loaded under nav1. http://ptacnik.com/about101.html http://ptacnik.com/design.html http://ptacnik.com/illustration.html Okay well I have a bit of a problem... it's not major but it's enough to annoy a perfectionist. On my website I have set up a table (100% wide) with three columns in, the middle column is 700px wide. (I presumed this would balance out the two side columns placing the middle column in dead center. It does(ish). I am guessing this might be a way that is frowned upon but, I am thinking of adding extra little bits of info in them outside columns later on... In safari (my main browser) it works fine and places it exactly however, in firefox (on mac) there is a slight one pixel nudge to the right which stands out significantly. (In fact, it was the first thing I noticed!) The background image is obviously the problem but this seems like the only route as I have found this error half way down the line and I do not want to go back and do a load of HTML code editing! Screenshots below: Firefox: http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/5249/picture7mfq.png Safari: http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/4269/picture6kpd.png Is there any possible fix to this solution? Only logged in users can see this page so I could store a users screen width in a $_SESSION variable using PHP and then adjust this on each page? Just an idea I thought of but I doubt... any help is highly appreciated!!!!!! P.S: I have not tested in IE yet... I will in a minute... UPDATE //////////////////////////////// I just tested it in Firefox on Windows Vista.... there was no problem. And as for Internet Explorer.. everything is fine.. My site works in Firefox and Safari just like I want it to, but when IE tries to read it, the divs and images get spaced out and wrapped around AND it is not centered on the page like it should be... what is my coding flaw? www.nativboardriding.com check it out in firefox or safari to see how it SHOULD be displayed, then open it with IE. Thanks, Levs Hi, Im trying to develop a simple HTML interface for virtual tours but I cant get the site to look the same in all browsers. The problem comes when I view the page in IE. I want the bottom table to only be the length of the window as done in both safari and firefox. My site can be viewed on: http://www.fullvisual.com/informatic...tual_tour.html why doesn't the width=100% work? Thanks Hi Everyone- I'm hoping someone out there might be able to solve a problem I've been having with my site for a number of years. The site was designed for IE but with the growing popularity of Firefox and Safari (to name a few), I want to insure that it works properly with those browsers. For the most part, it does -- except when displaying a background image in a table. For example - look at this page: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/...anentwaves.php When viewed in I.E., the grey background image with the woman displays properly, as does the full image of the album cover within. However when viewed in Firefox or Safari, the background image repeats near the bottom for about 20 pixels. The problem also exists on a page like this one: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/lyrics.php Where the brown background image which includes the words "Rush Lyrics" displays properly in I.E. but seems to repeat for 20 pixels in FF. This one's been driving me crazy for years and, due to some recent changes I've been making, it's come back to haunt me. If anyone has any suggestions as to why this is happening and what I can do to remedy it, I would greatly appreciate it... Thanks so much. Hi, I am new to this borad, hope someone good at HTML can help me. I am building a website www.blazeauto.co.uk/shop/ there is a problem with the navigation menu.
