HTML - Problem With Embedded Object And Anomaly Only Occurring In Firefox
Similar TutorialsFirst, forgive me i'm a noob! Am attempting to rebuild our sorry website. Am kinda picking the whole html thing up, however, am building in frontpage and expressions because those are the programs i have. page i'm working on is: ygcc.org/testing i embedded a video, but would like to position it to line up w/ everything else. i like how it looks centered, but its not aligned correctly w/ the other objects on the page. also, everything else is "positioned" on the page, whereas the media is "aligned" so, it doesn't stay put if i resize my browser next problem i'm having is jump menu or tree menu. i want a drop boxes, such as are on the page, however, would like it if it was a horizontal menu, not individual boxes like they are. right now, the drop boxes are only drop boxes (for "forms") and do not hyperlink. if i "insert jumpmenu" then, i cannot put them beside each other in a row. if i attempt to put them in a row, they are like steps, not straight across. i d/led a program to help w/ menus, but i don't even understand it. when i attempted what it told me to do, i do not get a menu. i know i need to put javascript in, but apparently do not understand this enough to actually do it. in short i would truly appreciate some help. thanks in advance You may have seen this question before, but I cannot for the life of me find an answer that works. I embedded a .swf flash file on a page on my website. This flash plays perfectly on IE and Chrome, but nothing shows up on Safari or Firefox. I, at first, wrote the code by hand. Then I instead used swfobject to properly write the code (this still hasn't fixed the problem) I used the w3 markup validation site to check the code, and it comes back with 0 errors. Any Ideas? The code is below: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en"> <head> <title></title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="posthink.swf"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> swfobject.registerObject("myFlashContent", "9.0.0"); </script> </head> <body> <div style="text-align: center;"> <object classid="clsid: D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="550" height="400" id="myFlashContent"> <param name="movie" value="posthink.swf" /> </object> </div> </body> </html> (I inserted a space in the classid= tag to do away with the : D turning into a smiley) Thanks for your help. Hello guys, I have embedded this video on simple html page. I want that video to float in the middle of the screen. It looks OK on FireFox, but it appears on the left edge when played on Safari. (I have not checked it on IE.) Hi all, I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me how the word "knitwear" in this ebay listing (item description) is in a different Font please? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT I've looked in Source and can't fathom for the life of me how they've managed it! The word Giorgio is also in a different font. Many thanks in advance.. Greetings I have this problem that i got a media player embedded to my pages using activeX controls, and i would like to make it work a little bit different. I need the player to display stream 1, first from location localhost:8800/uys.wma this takes 10 seconds, then it needs to open stream 2 from location localhost:8800/uys2.wma that takes 3 minutes and then finally it needs to display stream 3 as long as it takes. So how do i make the player play multiple streams after another. Also this player should start automaticly when someone enters the page... Please help! Also this needs to work in Firefox and IE... Anyone have source code for this kinda system and is there a script to prompt for plugin for firefox? Sir. Turhapuro Hello, I've created a table that should be automatically populated by data from a text file. It works fine in IE but is displayed blank in Firefox. Can anyone tell me why that might be? Code: <object id="members" classid="clsid:333C7BC4-460F-11D0-BC04-0080C7055A83"> <param name="DataURL" value="../../secure/Membership/contacts.txt"> <param name="UseHeader" value="True"> </object> <TABLE datasrc="#members" border="0" cellspacing="5" cellpadding="8" align="center"> <THEAD> <TR> <TD><strong>Name</strong></TD> <TD><strong>Organisation</strong></TD> <TD><strong>Telephone</strong></TD> <TD><strong>E-mail</strong></TD> </TR> </THEAD> <TBODY> <TR> <TD><DIV datafld="NAME" ></DIV></font></TD> <TD><DIV datafld="ORGANISATION"></DIV></font></TD> <TD><DIV datafld="TELEPHONE" DATAFORMATAS="html"></DIV></font></TD> <TD><DIV datafld="E-MAIL" DATAFORMATAS="html"></DIV></font></TD> </TR> </TBODY> </TABLE> Thanks for any help , Russ Hi there.Today,on a test page i decided to put a .swf movie using the object tag. After writing this code
Code: <OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="video\index.swf" width="472" height="266" border="0" standby="Va rugam, asteptati. In proces de incarcare..."> <PARAM name="movie" value="video\index.swf"> <PARAM name="quality" value="high"> <PARAM name="bgcolor" value="#000000"> </OBJECT> i got(and i still get) a blank square filled with white color in Firefox and a black filled square in IE(this is actually the Flash Player, but for some reason it won't play the file). Please tell me,what's wrong : Me or the code? I really need some help. I have recently made a couple of small websites which include a few small .swf's of work I have done. I am inserting the objects via the Object tags, and shown below is what I use. Code: <OBJECT ID="FlashPlayer" CLASSID="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" CODEBASE="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" WIDTH="481" HEIGHT="350" ID="my file ID"> <PARAM NAME="movie" VALUE="the file location" /> <PARAM NAME="allowScriptAccess" VALUE="sameDomain" /> <PARAM NAME="bgcolor" VALUE="#ffffff" /> </object> Upon loading said webpage in IE, the content loads.... ... but it does not load at all in the latest version of Firefox. I would be most grateful if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong, or what the correct tags are for Firefox. I have checked the search function and apologise if I did not see it mentionned in my list of search results. Kind regards. Hi, I have an activex control which loads with object tag. I use the windows registry key value to load the class. When i run the code from a local machine it works fine, but when i upload to a unix based server, the controls do not load. Is there something I am doing wrong? The following code works in Firefox AND validates as XHTML 1.0 Strict: <object codetype="application/java" classid="java:lake.class" width="423" height="567"> <param name="image" value="lovetide.jpg" /> </object> It displays the image, and the applet simulates ocean waves on the image. However, this code does NOT work in IE (no image displayed at all). Any idea how to do this in IE in a way that will still validate? I did some searches on the Web, and found an article that pointed out IE handles <object> differently from other browsers. Based on that article, I tried this: <!--[if IE]> <object classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93" width="423" height="567"> <param name="code" value="lake.class" /> <param name="image" value="lovetide.jpg" /> </object> <![endif]--> <!--[if !IE]> Not executed by IE--> <object type="application/x-java-applet" classid="java:lake.class" width="423" height="567"> <param name="image" value="lovetide.jpg" /> </object> <!--[endif]--> Still works with Firefox but not IE. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Bill Here's the link to my test web page with a short slideshow embedded in it. http://www.prestigekitchensandbaths.com/test/index.html The slideshow movie is in FLV format, and it works fine in FF, Opera and Safari. Funny thing is that it works fine in IE when I test it on my desktop (Windows XP), but it won't work at all when I test it in IE on my laptop (Windows 7). Any idea why that would be? I'm using the FLV Player to play my video, as it gives me nearly all the parameters I was looking for, it doesn't require any scripting, and it's open source. Also, it seems to work with all the major browsers while not forcing me to use the EMBED tag, which is deprecated now and shouldn't be used. But it still boggles my mind why it would work in IE on one of my computers but not on the other. I wanted to know. I have in the site of player okay? He for example now plays a song now with someone presses on connection in the site then this opens the page that he requested but the player does not play only when that blast opened he starts more this time to play. Thx for the helpers thank you for taking the time to help. Being very new at HTML codes, I almost got it where I want it. The problem I have I can't see one of the objects in the web page.
