HTML - Building Basics From Artwork
Hi, I am building a site from some artwork that was supplied to me for a website that will ultimately be transformed into a theme for silverstripe but now the client has changed their mind and wants a static HTML version put into immediate action for the time being... problem is that the design is giving me massive headaches in building the basic structure for the site. There are aspects of the design that I am struggling to re-build, such as diagonal lines that stretch from one menu to another... Can any one help suggesting answers to such problems... Have attached some of the code and a PDF of the example artwork (please note I have been construction and reconstructing / deconstructing this code for a few days now and I fear it is beginning to look like it -messy )...
Any help greatly appreciated... Similar TutorialsHi I hope some1 can help me, am designing a site but it needs some jazzing up!!its hard to explain but it looks very flat plain Firstly, does any1 know of somewhere where i might get some flashy text for displaying titles and headings etc thats more attractive than the usuals? Also, I want to display a picture only as a thumbnail and when user clicks on it then, it appears in a new window? And I also want to upload a microsoft word file that users can download for themselves??? Thanks a mill!! gk Hello all, I am designing my first website and have taught myself the very basics of HTML/CSS but am at a bit of a loss where to start. I want to start by creating the layout. Is this the usual way? I want about 5 pages and so would like to create the navigation bar down the left and drop down menus at the top which will then link to blank pages - all laid out, ready for text/photos etc to be added. I realise that the layout should be created in CSS. Tables, I believe, are bad practice for layout design. What should I use instead? I am grateful for anyone's help to get me off the starting blocks! All the best Phil I need to apply what I have read on HTML and CSS, I wish to start from the very basics and build on that step by step so I will appreciate some help and patience please to make sure I understand every symbol in a code. First thing, what's the very first things you pro's do when planning to build a site? Do you draw out layout on paper? Ok gentlemen, here's my situation. I am by trade a Pc/laptop repair/upgrade tech but since tech's are dime a dozen here in NY the business is no longer what it was years ago so I have to branch out into some other line of work to support myself and family, I am 48 years old so time is not on my side, I intend on becoming a webmaster becuase I like it and also because this field would allow me to work from my home office taking whatever jobs I can find locally. I do have a little experience in web design having designed a couple of sites in the past using templates but not the coding I had not done which is why I decided to start from scratch to build a good foundation. It is my intention to keep on studying, I will have completed the XHTML/CSS course in the next day or so and I was advised here that Javascript should be my next logical move then PHP... but I am thinking since I am getting offers for small jobs locally here that I should first try to gain some practical experience building some actual sites while I am studying from the web design book THEN when I am finished with that which shouldn't take long move on to Javascript. Do you guys think this is the best move for me or should I complete Javascript and PHP first THEN go into actual web designing? Any thoughts/advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks. hi im jack, i like challanging myself with new things, well a freind asked my if i could build them a website for their company. i said sure i would give it a shot and its my first time, im using ms office publisher 07 to build it with and i would always do a perview of it to make sure it was displaying right in the browser, well i finally got the site built its res is 1024/768 since its a common res and i dont know how to make a liquid or even a self centering site, anyways i just got dreamworks cs5 and since the site was already done i opened it in dreamworks and perviewed it and it looked and worked good. so using publisher i published the site and saved the files to desktop. i clicked on the published file index and it opened the browser and looked and work good in ie9 and mff so i decided to uploaded it to a free hosting site to test it one more time but this time online before uploading on my freinds server, so i uploaded the files using the site's builted in ftp loader, well all the files and indexs uploaded fine but when you open the site ojects are missing and some of the same pics will display on one page but wont load on other pages , so i need your expert help and knowlege to try to fix the site any help is greatly appercatted thank you. P.s. first web site ive built heres link to site http://haineswrecker.freewebsitehosting.com/ if need i can post publisher file or webpage loaded file, or script Ok I can't provide a picture to my layout as it is kept secret. But I created a layout in photoshop. I do have the Adobe Master Collection. Anyways, after had created my website layout I want to be able to type text over the images and be able to create a password and login field over an image. And I was wondering how do I do it in Dreamweaver? It seems like a very complicated program. Everytime I want to insert something over an image in the layout it breaks up all the sliced images and all the images are spaced out. Below is an image of the login and password field but it's just one image. How do I make it so that you'll be able to type text into them? Doesn't have to be in Dreamweaver if there is an easier way. I'm Jamie-Grace and I need some help with Network Building - fast! I run an organization for teens with Tourette Syndrome, like myself, called "teensWts" (Go figure, lol.) and I'm looking to expand it and make it network type site but not just for Tourette Syndrome. I want people to be able to join and create profiles with some of the profiles being "fan profiles" and some of them being profiles for organizations that people can "become fans of". So it would sort of be like how MySpace has music profiles and regular ones and the people with the regular accounts can be fans of the bands except I want my site to be organizations instead of music. I don't know how much time or money (if any money is needed..hopefully not, ha.) this type of thing would take, but I would really appreciate any type of advice in the area. I have been trying to do this for months now and I can't seem to get a good response as far assistance. Thank you so much in advance! I'm currently building a website using Photoshop and Dreamweaver, this is my first time using em both but i'm having a problem. When I run it through dreamweaver the page looks and lines up fine if I don't add any links http://server61.urldownload.com/test/home.html but as soon as I add any links the page goes to crap. http://server61.urldownload.com/test2/home.html How can i get rid of the purple box and line up the page correctly? Ok, new to the boards here. I'd appreciate some help regarding a website i am building. I have a question due to my lack of advanced html knowledge, but am a quick learner. Does anyone know how to build a quality visitor counter? I know they have the free one's online, but i want something that integrates well into the site and looks like it belongs there. I'm sure i'll have some more questions later. Website: http://www.niufans.com/cpg/albums/Re...Red%20Riot.htm Thank you! I have a timesheet template that I have converted from word to html. I'd like to make it so users can type onto the sheet though and print it off showing their name/hours/dates etc. The template is similar looking to this !! Company Logo !! Contact details, fax number, telephone numbers etc Contracted company ------- Contractors Name ------- ================== Day Date Hours Mon --- --- Tue --- --- Wed --- --- Thu --- --- Fri --- --- Sat --- --- Sun --- --- ================== Total hours worked ----- I have a feeling this can be done using javascript but havent a clue how. Or, can I just make text boxes that allow a user to type into but wont be shown on the print out? I'd like it so only the timesheet is printed off with all the entered data rather than any other parts of the website. What is the first thing you do, do you do it from scratch in notepad or do you use a wysiwyg editor, or do you use a template? Is the first thing you do make a table of div for the header and work from there or do you draw out the design you want? Whats the best website building software out there (freeware/shareware) Has anyone tried any of them and got good results I had created a similar thread here a while back but that was regarding site "maintenance". I am now bidding for my first paid job locally here in NY but this is all I have to go on from the person: The work on my website will require flash/animation inserts. They will be self-building PowerPoint slides. Which of your samples includes or comes closest to that? You must give me a maximum compensation figure if you want to be considered. I had told him that I cannot give a price without knowing all details, how many pages, images, if the need animation e.t.c and I still don't know but that is mainly how it's done here in NY, people tell you next to nothing and ask you what you will charge, how would you guys handle this please? I'm building a website to sell online and I want my product page to work in the same way as this one: http://www.cougar-extreme.co.uk/comp...ries_ddr3.html I can see that they are using javascript there, but I want to ask if that is the best or only way to do that. Mainly, can anyone can point me in the direction of how to do it? I am using a flash intro for the site, so I can assume most people on the site viewing it properly will have flash installed. I have a pretty good grasp of HTML and CSS, but very little experience doing anything similar to this and I'd appreciate any help or advice given. Thanks! kadeshiseraph K so I decided to venture into the proxy business. I work deskside support for a living but I haven't really done anything with websites since college and so I've got just a passing familiarity with HTML. Right now I've got a Glype script uploaded to the domain and it's functional but it's a php file and I'm not sure how to integrate it with HTML to make this a well-rounded site with banners and such. I'm guessing the php script can be pasted into html in some fashion but each time I've tried it doesn't work. Can someone give me a leg up? Hi! I'd appreciate if someone could help me come up with a valid code to: 1) Create a table that will present a choice of thumbnail pics that you can click on that will present the image in a larger box above the choices. Crappy example: http://s609.photobucket.com/albums/t...icturehaha.gif 2)How to make this page scroll.: http://carsonvalleypowerwash.com Thank You! hello, I'm new to HTML programming, but I'm old to C programming. My question is how can i write something through NAMO WEBEDITOR that satisfy my need. My need is just to write a text in my web page where anyone can add something to it. It's more or less similar to wikipedia but only add something at the end of the text. Thanks in advance Hi, I have a system that was written in html code for a touch screen kiosk in a visitor center. My problem is that the game is outdated and I am trying to upgrade, but have little to no knowledge of html. I have everything right I think except for getting a sound to play while a picture is showing then fading to the picture of the bird (It's a bird quiz). Can anyone help me with this? Hi everyone. I need some advice. I currently run a website for the local snooker league here, http://www.ldbsa.co.uk, and I have a mobile version of the site, http://mobile.ldbsa.co.uk. Currently these are two separate sites, with a PHP script running on the pages to determine what browser and device is being used, and being re-directed to the mobile site should you be on a mobile device. My main issue with this is that I have to update both websites separately, as they are two compeltely independent websites, both pulling the same data in from a MySQL database though. What I would like to do, is to have the same website for both, with a different stylesheet loading depending on the device. This obviously has its advantages in that I only have to update the site once, but the disadvantages come when coding the site. One other method I though about doing is to turn virtually all areas of the site into database driven, including menu items, headers, references to images etc. This way, all I need to do is the write two different stylesheets for the main structure and look of the both versions. The main difficulty I see happening is coding a structure in html that will work for both mobile nad desktop devices. Is this the best way to go about it? Or would you advise keeping the two sites separate? Leading SEO, SEM, SMO, SMM, PPC and Spam Building Company Earn money by working with s[a, building company United Kingdom.
